  1. Salam Alaikum,

There is a group of volunteers who subtitles Shia lectures, the YouTube link is: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEgIPLYOKQgvDHCbIFWr_-Q

Also, to be updated when there is a new subtitled lecture, you can follow them via their social media:

    - Instagram, Twitter and Facebook: ShiaAccess

I hope you will find it useful and please share to promote awareness,

  2. Thank you. I was looking at their page and it seems they do not have Jummah services or they do not put it on the calendar. In either case, I will drive out to check them out. Thank you again.
  3. I will be spending the summer in Kansas City Missouri and wanted to see if there were any Shia in the area. Or if anyone knows of any mosques in the area.
  4. I used to attend Idara-e Jaferia. It is not in DC but it is closer by in Burtonsvile Md. The community there is amazing and very open and accepting. http://www.idara-e-jaferia.org/ 3140 Spencerville Rd, Burtonsville, MD 20866, USA
  5. Yeah, I wish I had learned about the Ahlul Bayt and Imam Ali (a.s.) sooner. But Alhamdulillah I am Shia now
  6. I found Islam when I was 13. Though I was much older when I became Shia.
  7. I do not know ISL. But I goto Gallaudet University which is a Deaf university and we have students here that are fluent in ISL. I can ask them if they would be willing to help. I am very happy to use the transcripts and create ASL videos though. I will ask my friends today that know ISL.
  8. I can only speak for myself, as a white muslim. I never lost my privilege when I became muslim. When I grew my beard out people assumed I was a "hipster" and there for did not have the stigmatism that my POC brothers felt. A white revert will always been seen as white first muslim second, in my personal experience. Insha'Allah one day we are all seen as equal.
  9. Salaam, I wanted to ask about saying the prayers in arabic. I am Deaf and do not know how things are pronounced. I do try my best but most likely people would not be able to even recognize that I am speaking arabic. Are prayer invalid if not in arabic? even if they person does not speak? I feel as though Allah (s.w.t.) knows what's in my heart and knows my intention during namez is pure. That would mean my prayers would be accepted. Am I incorrect?
  10. I do not find lectures with transcripts most of the time. With subtitles if it is youtube the automatic subtitles are awful. I do read a lot of books. But why I want ASL lectures is because ASL is my first language.
  11. Salaam My name is Seth. I live in Washington DC for university. Graduate in December. Will move to Chicago for graduate school and the amazing Shia community. I am 32 yrs old, Deaf, use American Sign Language. Teaching myself to read and write Farsi.
  12. Salaam, I follow G. Aya. Seyed Reza Hosseini Nassab and according to him: Issue No. 3- Among the see [sic} foods, the fishes with scales and the shrimps are halal. (http://www.hoseini.org/resalah46.pdf) Wasalam
  13. Salam, I realize this was post a long time ago. However, I am a Deaf Shi'iah. I live in Washington D.C. USA.
  14. WAS, Thank you, I will look that topic.
  15. As salam Alaykium brothers and sister, I wanted to see if there were any other deaf Shia on here? I live in Washington DC and get pretty isolated because I have not met any other deaf Shia. Maybe someone knows of ASL interpreted lectures online? Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post.
