  1. My oldest son is named Mustafa after Prophet Muhammad al-Mustafa (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), my 2nd son is named Murtaza after Imam Ali al-Murtaza (عليه السلام), my 3rd son is named Mujtaba after Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (عليه السلام), and my daughter is named Zahra after Lady Fatima az-Zahra (‏عليها السلام). I want to name my 4th son after Imam Husain (عليه السلام). Which of his titles should I use? I was thinking of Zaki.
  2. Salaam all. I recently came across a full pdf of "Kernel of the Kernel: Concerning the Wayfaring and Spiritual Journey of the People of Intellect - a Shii Approach to Sufism" http://islamicblessings.com/upload/Kernel of the Kernel.pdf I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
  3. Imagine there was a Muslim who lived in the early generations named Bob. Bob prayed all his obligatory and voluntary prayers everyday in the mosque. Bob fasted all the obligatory and voluntary fasts. Bob regularly gave charity. Bob memorized the Quran. Bob never lied or committed any major sins. Bob had a good memory and narrated thousands of hadiths from reputable teachers. Bob had a good reputation and everyone who was asked about him would praise him. Naturally, Sunni hadith and rijal scholars would consider him a trustworthy narrator and would accept his narrations. Now imagine if Bob learned of a sahih hadith explicitly declaring Imam Ali Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã to be the successor of the Prophet (s). Bob would probably become a Shii and narrate this hadith to others. However, because he is now a Shii, his narrations will no longer be accepted by Sunni scholars, even though he is still the same pious Muslim with good character and good memory. Therefore, this narration transmitted by Bob which proves Imam Ali's Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã khilafah would not be accepted. Do you see what I am saying? Sunnis ask Shias to provide an authentic hadith from Sunni narrators that clearly and explicitly declare Imam Ali's khilafah. But this is impossible due to their flawed system of ilm al-rijal. Any authentic hadith proving Imam Ali's Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã khilafah would cause the hearer of the hadith to become a Shii. But when they narrate the hadith, it is no longer considered authentic because they are Shii. Thus every hadith proving Imam Ali's Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã khilafah (or other aspects of Shiism) is considered weak because the narrators in the chains are Shii, even though these narrators are Shii because of these hadiths. This is the paradox of Sunni ilm al-rijal
  4. Can someone please tell me who is Sheikh Zakariyya? I would like to watch more of his lectures. What is his last name?
  5. I have heard many Sunnis say things like: If you ever see this question ask why the Prophet (s) didn't fight the Mushrikeen for the first 13 years of his prophethood? Ask why the Prophet (s) only fought when he had the support of hundreds of Muslims? Subhanallah, they may realise how much Imam Ali's (as) life reflected the Prophet's (s). Similarly, if you see a Sunni asking: Reply with: Why did the Prophet (s) give up Mecca to the Mushrikeen at the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah if he knew that Mecca was the right of the Muslims AND he knew the Muslims were more powerful than the Mushrikeen? Hopefully any Sunnis reading this will devote some time thinking about these questions and researching these issues. May Allah guide us all.
  6. Abdullah bin Numair: Ibn Hajar said: ‘Thiqah’ (Taqrib al-Tahdib, v1 p542) Dhahabi said: ‘Hujja’ (Al-Kashif, v1 p604) Hisham bin Urwah: Ibn Hajar said: ‘Thiqah’ (Taqrib al-tahdib, v2 p267) Dhahabi said: ‘Abu Hatim said Thiqah’ (Al-Kashif, v2 p337) Urwah bin al-Zubair: Ibn Hajar said: ‘Thiqah’ (Taqrib al-Tahdib, v1 p671) Dhahabi said: ‘Thabt’ (Al-Kashif, v2, p18). Yes I know. That narration is solely evidence for my 2nd claim (the Ansar were picking a leader amongst themselves, not the entire ummah. They believed that after the death of the Prophet (saww), each tribe should govern itself).
  7. Wow this thread got derailed hard. Anyways, apologies for taking so long to respond, I have been busy. The first claim, Abu Bakr and Umar were absent from the Prophet's (saww) burial: حدثنا ابن نمير عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه أن أبا بكر وعمر لم يشهدا دفن النبي (ص) ، كانا في الانصار فدفن قبل أن يرجعا. Ibn Numair narrated form Hisham bin Urwah who narrated from his father (Urwa) that Abu Bakr and Umar were not present at the time of burial of the Prophet (s), they were with Ansar and He was buried before they had returned. Al-Musnaf Ibn Abi Shaybah Volume 8 page 58 The second claim, the Ansar were choosing a leader for themselves and not the entire ummah: ...the Ansar were assembled with Sad bin 'Ubada in the shed of Bani Saida. They said (to the emigrants). "There should be one 'Amir from us and one from you." Then Abu Bakr, Umar bin Al-Khattab and Abu 'baida bin Al-Jarrah went to them... Sahih al-Bukhari 3667, 3668 https://sunnah.com/bukhari/62/19
  8. Dear Sunni brothers and sisters. Please come and clarify your positions. Why didn't the Prophet (saww) do anything (according to you) to prevent the possibility of civil war before he passed away? As brother explained, Abu Bakr and Umar certainly recognized the urgent need for a successor. Forgive me brother, I forgot to return your salaam. Walaykum assalaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
  9. First of all, the Ansar were picking a leader amongst themselves, not the entire ummah. They believed that after the death of the Prophet (saww), each tribe should govern itself. Secondly, if the Ansar did choose a leader, what would have happened? Would it have caused fitnah? If so, then you are saying that the Prophet (saww) did not realize the situation he put his ummah in, (I.e., on the verge of fitnah) while Abu Bakr and Umar did.
  10. No this is the same as answer number 1. Essentially, this is saying "a group of Ansar wanted to rule. But this would have caused fitnah. Therefore, Abu Bakr and Umar decided to stop them to save the ummah from fitnah." Why else would Abu Bakr and Umar decide to skip the janaza to crash the Ansar's meeting? (from the Sunni perspective of course. From the Shia perspective, the answer is obvious)
  11. The Sunni excuse is: Mashallah. Abu Bakr and Umar had such amazing foresight and wisdom. If only the Prophet (saww) had as much foresight as the shaykhayn. He could have appointed a successor himself and prevented any possible disaster... So my dear Sunni brothers and sisters, why were Abu Bakr and Umar absent from the Prophet's (saww) burial? Either The Prophet (saww) did not realize he left the ummah on the verge of fitnah. Abu Bakr and Umar were absent from the Prophet's (saww) burial to save the ummah from fitnah. The Prophet (saww) left the ummah as Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì commanded. Abu Bakr and Umar did not have to be absent from the Prophet's (saww) burial, so they were absent for personal reasons.
  12. quoted sections are by ayatollah sistani. everything else are my conclusions from his rulings. dhuhr: the best time for dhuhr nafl and fardh is from midday until 2/7 between midday and sunset. asr: the best time for asr nafl and fardh is from 2/7 to 4/7 between midday and sunset. maghrib the best time for maghrib fardh and nafl is from when the redness from the eastern sky disappears until when the redness from the western sky disappears. isha: the best time for isha fardh and nafl is when the redness from the western sky disappears. tahajjud: the best time for tahajjud is close to the fajr adhan. fajr: the best time for fajr nafl and fardh is from 2nd dawn until redness appears in the eastern sky. are my conclusions correct? if no, please correct me. as-salamu alaikum
  13. spoken like a true murji'i. if this belief was true then there would be no takfiris. there a theological boundaries in sunni islam and ghazali's book "faisal at-tafiqa bayna al-islam waz-zandaqa" defines what is considered kufr and takes you outside of sunni islam, or islam as a whole. is it part of your aqeedah to believe that sin compounds over centuries and generations? do the shia carry an original sin LOL? is that a threat? you can have the whole world bro, because as long as my heart is upon islam im thankful.
  14. what are the references for these narrations brother? also, for any moderator who sees this, why do my posts have to be approved before they can be seen?
  15. https://www.reddit.com/r/islam/comments/5u76zx/the_jews_christians_are_better_then_the_rawaafidh/ before the moderators removed the thread, it said: do you sunnis not believe that the companions of musa (as) and isa (as) apostated and corrupted the religion of allah? do you sunnis not see the foolishness of using the statements of jews and christians to support your arguments? allahu akbar rasulullah Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÂáå æÓáã warned against following the jews and christians as narrated in bukhari and muslim, https://sunnah.com/bukhari/96/50 https://sunnah.com/muslim/47/7 as a bonus, the murji'i roots of sunnism was in full display in one of the comments: for the benefit of those who dont know, the murjiah were a counter-movement to the khawarij. unlike the khawarij, they believed that faith in allah was enough to be a muslim, and anyone who professes belief in allah is a muslim, no matter what sins they commit. the modern sunnis have the same belief, but limit it to the sahaba, and before sunnism fully developed during the time of ghazali, many of the proto-sunni where murji, the most famous of which was abu hanifa.
  16. im wondering if there are other hadiths or actual recommendations from scholars
  17. salaam alaikum everyone are there recommended surahs to say in each salah after fatiha? for example, http://www.revivingalislam.com/2011/04/surahs-to-recite-in-salat-namaz.html Salaah Surah Name Surah # (Respectively) Al-Fajr (Al-Ghadaaa’) Qiyaamah, Insaan, Naba', Ghaashiyyah 75, 76, 78, 88 Al-Dhuhr `Ala, Shams, Ghaashiyyah 87, 91, 88 Al-`aSr Ikhlaas, Nasr, Zilzalah, Takaathur 112, 110, 99, 102 Al-Maghrib Ikhlaas, Nasr, Zilzalah, Takaathur 112, 110, 99, 102 Al-`Ishaa’ `Ala, Shams, Ghaashiyyah 87, 91, 88 jazakallahu khayran
  18. no. this is a thought exercise to try and show them the illegitimacy of the "election" of saqifah
  19. abu bakr "as-siddiq" - elected via a secret shura in saqifah in 632 CE - 99% of the ummah did not participate or even have knowledge of the "election" - legitimate method of establishing the khilafa according to sunnis abu bakr al-baghadi - elected via a secret shura in syria in 2014 CE - 99% of the ummah did not participate or even have knowledge of the "election" - illegitimate method of establishing the khilafa according to sunnis why the discrepancy?
  20. LOL this is proof that Ali (as) disapproved of the "election" of abu bakr. he says "bayah must not be secret" and yet 99% of the muslims had no idea there was an election happening at saqifah, so hes clearly criticizing abu bakr and umar for scamming the ummah.
  21. so do you recite al qadr and al ikhlas in every wajib salat?
  22. according to ayatollah sistani: Issue 1027: It is Mustahab that in all the prayers, one should recite Surah Inna Anzalnahu in the first Rak'at, and Surah Qul huwallahu Ahad in the second Rak'at. Issue 1028: It is Makrooh not to recite Surah Qul huwallahu Ahad even in one of the daily prayers. https://www.al-islam.org/islamic-laws-ayatullah-ali-al-husayni-al-sistani/rules-salat-part-iii-iii#qirat-reciting-surah-al-hamd-and-other-surah-holy-quran ive never heard of this recommendation what is the evidence for this? does this apply for all prayers or just the obligatory ones? does anyone here follow this recommendation? what do you do? jazakallahu khayran
