﴿يَـأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ زَحْفاً﴾
(O you who believe! When you meet those who disbelieve, in a battlefield,) when you get near the enemy and march towards them,
﴿فَلاَ تُوَلُّوهُمُ الأَدْبَارَ﴾
(never turn your backs to them.) do not run away from battle and leave your fellow Muslims behind,
﴿وَمَن يُوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ دُبُرَهُ إِلاَّ مُتَحَرِّفاً لِّقِتَالٍ﴾
(And whoever turns his back to them on such a day -- unless it be a stratagem of war...)
 
 
So those verses your Sunni friend quoted regarding the mujahideen supposedly refer to the sahaba. Let us see how their beloved companions performed jihad at the battle of Khaybar, my favourite example.
Narrated Abul Abbas Muhammad ibn Ahmad Al-Mahboobi in Marw, from Sa’eed Ibn Masoud from Ubaidallah Ibn Musa from No’aim Ibn Hakim from Abi Musa Al-Hanafi from Alee (a.s) who said: 'The Messenger of Allah (saw) went out to Khaybar, when he reached it he sent Umar and a group of people with him to their town or their castle to fight them, but they could not do anything, and Umar with his companions escaped and came back to the Prophet(saw), his companions were saying that Umar is a coward and he was saying that his companions are cowards and then the Prophet (saw) said that famous Hadeeth.
Al-Hakim: The chain of this narration is authentic, but they (i.e. Bukhari and Muslim) have not narrated it.

Narrated Alee (a.s): 'The Messenger of Allah (saw) went out to Khaybar, when he reached it he sent Umar and a group of people with him to their town or their castle they went and fought them, but they could not do anything, and Umar with his companions escaped and came back to the Prophet (saw), his companions were saying that Umar is a coward and he was saying that his companions are cowards and the Messenger of Allah(saw) got annoyed and he said: 'I will send a man towards them who loves Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى and his Messenger (saw) and Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى and his Messenger (saw) love him, he will fight with them untill he succeeds and he is not a coward who runs away frequently!' The people raised their necks to see whom the Messenger of Allah (saw) will call. They wished to be that man. The Messenger of Allah (saw) remained silent for a while and then said: 'Where is Alee (a.s)? They said: 'He has an illness in his eyes.' He (saw) said: 'Bring him to me.' When I came to him, he opened my eyes and put his saliva on them and passed the flag to me and then I went fast, fearing that maybe the Messenger of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى changed his decision, when I reached their castle and fought them. Then Al-Marhab invited me, singing epic verses and I went to him singing epic verses like people do, until we met and Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى killed him with my hands and his companions ran away and closed the door of their castle behind themselves, we went to the door and I did not stop trying to break it until Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى opened it.

This verse obviously praises the mujahideen, anyone who fought in the way of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى, but did all companions wage jihad like true muslims or like clear hypocrites? I've never heard anyone bring this specific verse up actually. Wasalam.

like and animal-like forms, and may account for some of our encounters with mysterious creatures. It is described in The Book of 1001 Nights as a half- human being, that is, it has half a head, half a body, one arm, one leg. It hops about on its single leg. The nasnas was said to be the offspring of a shiqq (see below) and a human being. 
Also, in Somali folklore there is a creature called "xunguruuf" or "Hungruf" which resembles the "nasnās" as it has the same characteristics and features. It's believed it can kill a person by just touching them and the person would be flesh-less in mere seconds.

Many scholars come and go, but very few understand the true message of Ahlulbayt (as). 
"Was Imam Hussein (as) present today, he would say, if you people would want to mourn for me today, if you want to lament over me, then your slogan should be Palestine." - Allama Mutahari

When you've tasted the pure teachings of Ahlulbayt (as), there is nothing that can replace it. 
When I was young, I use to have these random thoughts, that maybe we're wrong after all. I wasn't certain in the Imamate, Ahlulbayt (as) etc. However the more I gain knowledge the more I realize that the madhab of Imam Jafar Al Sadiq (as) is the only madhab which is based on rationality and truth. 
We Shias have absolutely nothing to lose by following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)'s pure household. Allah will not punish us for not respecting the companions who didn't treat Ahlulabyt (as) in the best way. Our position is rational - to not respect those who didn't support Ahlulabyt (as).
Sunnis have a lot to lose, by praising certain companions who have not been on the side of Ahlulbayt (as). Their position is not based on logic, as they support their enemies, relying on guess work that everything was alright after the demise of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). In addition, they reject Imamah which is a universal law created by Allah. In the Quran Allah says that he will raise us with the Imam of our time. What will Sunnis argue?

Supporting the oppressed people irrespective of sects, creeds and religions against oppression and tyrannical rule is most respected thing to do as true follower of Imam Ali (as)
Remaining silent in such scenario is becoming part of oppression...

There are 11 things wajib in the prayers:
1. Niyyah: Intention to pray for being near to God.
2. Takbirat-ul-Ihram (Allahu Akbar after niyyah).
3. Qiyam: To stand.
4. Ruku’.
5. Two Sajdahs.
6. Qira'at: to recite Surah al-Hamd and another Surah in first two rak’ats and Tasbihat al-Arba’ah.
(Subhanallahi wal-hamdu lillahi wa la ilaha illal-lahu wallahu Akbar) or Surah al-Hamd in
the 3rd and 4th rak’ats.
7. Dhikr: to recite tasbih in ruku’ and sajdah, as will be explained later.
8. Tashahhud.
9. Salaam.
10. Tartib: To pray in the sequence prescribed by the shari’ah.
11. Muwalaat: To pray without interruption or gap.

(AhlulBayt News Agency) - Fighters from Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement have fired two ballistic missiles at a Saudi Aramco facility in the country's southwest.

Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network said on Monday that two Badr 1-type missiles had targeted the oil facilities that belong to energy giant Aramco in the Saudi border province of Jizan.

There was no immediate report on possible casualties or damage.

Saudi state media claimed that the country’s air defenses had intercepted and destroyed both projectiles over the skies above the region.  

The attack was carried out following bombardment of a wedding ceremony in Yemen’s Hajjah province by Saudi jets late on Sunday, which claimed the lives of over 30 civilians, including women and children.

The Yemeni army also targeted several cities, including the capital Riyadh, with a barrage of ballistic missiles on April 11.

در بهشت و محشور گرداند ما را در گروه شما و وارد کند ما را
حَوْضَ نَبیِّکُمْ، وَسَقـانـا بِکَاْسِ جَدِّکُمْ مِنْ یَدِ
بر سر حوض پیامبرتان و بنوشاند ما را از جام جدتان، از دست
عَلِیِّ بْنِ اَبی طـالِب، صَلَواتُ اللهِ عَلَیْکُمْ،
(ساقی کوثر) علی بن ابی طالب. درود خدا بر شما باد.
اَسْئَلُ اللهَ اَنْ یُرِیَنـا فیکُمُ السُّرُورَ وَالْفَرَجَ، وَاَنْ
از خدا می خواهم که بنمایاند به ما در مورد شما خوشحالی و فرج (و
یَجْمَعَنـا وَاِیّـاکُمْ فی زُمْرَهِ جَدِّکُمْ مُحَمَّد صَلَّی
ظهور) شما را و گرد آورد ما و شما را در گروه جدتان محمد صلی الله علیه وآله ،
اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَآلِهِ، وَاَنْ لا یَسْلُبَنـا مَعْرِفَتَکُمْ، اِنَّهُ
و نگیرد از ما معرفت شما را که براستی او سرپرست توانایی
وَلِیٌّ قَدیرٌ، اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَی اللهِ بِحُبِّکُمْ، وَالْبَرائَهِ مِنْ
است. تقرب می جویم به درگاه خدا به وسیله دوستی شما و بیزاری جستن از
اَعْدائِکُمْ، وَالتَّسْلیمِ اِلَی اللهِ راضِیاً بِهِ غَیْرَ مُنْکِر
دشمنانتان، وتسلیم شدن به پیشگاه خدا بارضایتمندی وخوشنودی بدون انکار
وَلا مُسْتَکْبِر، وَعَلی یَقینِ مـا اَتی بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ،
و گردنفرازی و از روی یقین به درستی آنچه محمد صلی الله علیه وآله آورده و بدان
وَبِهِ راض نَطْلُبُ بِذلِکَ وَجْهَکَ یـا سَیِّدی،
راضی وخوشنودم و می جویم باین وسیله عنایت ترا ای سرور من،
اَللّهـُمَّ وَرِضـاکَ وَالدّارَ الآخِرَهَ، یـا سَیِّدَتی یـا
خداوندا! خشنودی تو و خانه آخرت را خواستارم. ای بانوی من، ای
زَیْنَبُ، اِشْفَعی لی فِی الْجَنَّهِ، فَاِنَّ لَکِ عِنْدَ اللهِ
زینب، شفاعت کن برای من در مورد بهشت که به راستی برای تو در پیشگاه
شَاْناً مِنَ الشَّاْنِ، اَللّهـُمَّ اِنّی اَسْئَلُکَ اَنْ تَخْتِمَ
خدا منزلتی است بزرگ. خداوندا! از تو می خواهم که سرانجام کارم را
لی بِالسَّعـادَهِ، فَلا تَسْلُبْ مِنّی مـا اَنَا فیهِ، وَلا
به خوشبختی ختم فرمایی و از من نگیری ایمانی را که در آن هستم
حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّهَ اِلاّ بِاللهِ الْعَلِیِّ الْعَظیمِ، اَللّهـُمَّ
و جنبش و نیرویی نیست جز به یاری خدای والای بزرگ. خدایا!
اسْتَجِبْ لَنـا وَتَقَبَّلْهُ بِکَرَمِکَ وَعِزَّتِکَ،
به اجابت رسان دعاهای ما را و بپذیر آن را به بزرگواری و عزّت
وَبِرَحْمَتِکَ وَعـافِیَتِکَ، وَصَلَّی اللهُ عَلی مُحَمَّد
و به مهر و عافیت خودت، و درود خدا بر محمّد صلی الله علیه وآله
وَآلِهِ اَجْمَعینَ، وَسَلَّمَ تَسْلیماً یـا اَرْحَمَ الرّاحِمینَ.
و تمام خاندانش و هم سلام مخصوص او بر ایشان باد ای مهربانترین مهـربانــان.

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ سَيِّدِ الأَنْبِياءِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ  صاحِبِ الْحَوْضِ وَاللِّواءِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ مَنْ عُرِجَ بِهِ  إِلَى السَّماءِ وَوَصَلَ إِلَى مَقامِ قابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنى اَلسَّلامُ  عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ نَبِيِّ الْهُدى وَسَيِّدِ الْوَرى وَمُنْقِذِ الْعِبادِ مِنَ  الرَّدى اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا بِنْتَ صاحِبِ الْخُلُقِ الْعَظِيمِ وَالشَّرَفِ  الْعَمِيمِ وَالآياتِ وَالذِّكْرِ الْحَكِيمِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ صاحِبِ  الْمَقامِ الْمَحْمُودِ وَالْحَوْضِ الْمَوْرُودِ وَاللِّوآءِ الْمَشْهُودِ  اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ مَنْهَجِ دِينِ الإِسْلامِ وَصاحِبِ الْقِبْلَةِ  وَالْقُرْآنِ وَعَلَمِ الصِّدْقِ وَالْحَقِّ وَاْلإِحْسانِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا  بِنْتَ صَفْوَةِ الأَنْبِياءِ وَعَلَمِ الأَتْقِيآءِ وَمَشْهُورِ الذِّكْرِ فِي  السَّماءِ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكاتُهُ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ خَيْرِ  خَلْقِ اللهِ وَسَيِّدِ خَلْقِهِ وَأَوَّلِ الْعَدَدِ قَبْلَ إِيجادِ أَرْضِهِ  وَسَماواتِهِ وَآخِرِ اْلأَبَدِ بَعْدَ فَناءِ الدُّنْيا وَ أَهْلُهُ الَّذِي  رُوحُهُ نُسْخَةُ اللاَّهُوتِ وَصُورَتُهُ نُسْخَةُ الْمُلْكِ وَالْمَلَكُوتِ وَقَلْبُهُ خَزانَةُ الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لا يَمُوتُ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ  وَ بَرَكاتُهُ   ... اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا  بِنْتَ مَنْ قادَ زِمامَ ناقَتِها جِبْرائِيلُ وَ شارَكَها فِي مُصابِها إِسْرافِيلُ  وَ غَضِبَ بِسَبَبِها الرَّبُّ الْجَلِيلُ وَبَكى لِمُصابِها إِبْراهِيمُ الْخَلِيلُ  وَنُوحٌ وَمُوسَى الْكَلِيمْ فِي كَرْبَلاءِ الْحُسَيْنِ الشَّهِيدِ الْغَرِيبِ  اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ الْبُدُورِ السَّواطِعِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا  بِنْتَ الشُّمُوسِ الطَّوالِعِ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ  يا بِنْتَ زَمْزَمَ وَصَفا اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ مَكَّةَ وَمُنى  اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ مَنْ حُمِلَ عَلَى الْبُراقِ فِي الْهَوآءِ  اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ مَنْ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرامِ  إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الأَقْصى اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ مَنْ ضَرَبَ  بِالسَّيْفَيْنِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ مَنْ صَلَّى الْقِبْلَتَيْنِ  اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ الْمُصْطَفى اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ عَلِيٍّ  الْمُرْتَضى اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ فاطِمَةَ الزَّهْراءِ اَلسَّلامُ  عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ خَدِيجَةَ الْكُبْرى اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ وَ عَلَى جَدِّكِ  مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُخْتارِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ وَ عَلَى أَبِيكِ حَيْدَرِ الْكَرَّارِ  اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ وَعَلَى السَّاداتِ اْلأَطْهَارِ الأَخْيارِ وَ هُمْ حُجَجُ  اللهِ عَلَى الأَقْطارِ ساداتُ الأَرْضِ وَالسَّماءِ مِنْ أَخِيكَ الْحُسَيْنِ  الشَّهِيدِ الْعَطْشانِ الظَّمآنِ وَهُوَ أَبُو التِّسْعَةِ اْلأَطْهارِ وَ هُمْ  حُجَجُ اللهِ فِي الشَّرْقِ وَ الْغَرْبِ وَ الأَرْضِ وَ السَّماءِ الَّذِينَ حُبُّهُمْ فَرْضٌ عَلَى أَعْناقِ كُلِّ الْخَلائِقِ الْمَخْلُوقِينَ لِخالِقِ  الْقادِرِ السُّبْحانِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ وَلِيِّ اللهِ الأَعْظَمِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ وَلِيِّ اللهِ الْمُعَظَّمِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا  عَمَّةَ وَلِيِّ اللهِ الْمُكَرَّمِ اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا أُمَّ الْمَصائِبِ يا  زَيْنَبُ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَ بَرَكاتُهُ …

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا أُمَّ الْمَصائِبِ يا  زَيْنَبُ... اَلسَّلامُ عَلَي مَن هَیجت قَلبها لِلحُسَینِ الْمَظْلُومِ الْعُرْیـانِ، الْمَطْرُوحِ عَلَى الثَّرى، وَ قـالَتْ بِصَوْت حَزین: بِاَبی مَنْ نَفْسی لَهُ الْفِداءُ، بِاَبِى الْمَهْمُومُ حَتّى قَضى بِاَبِى الْعَطْشـانُ حَتّى مَضى، بِاَبی مَنْ شَیْبَتُهُ تَقْطُرُ بِالدِّماءِ ،اَلسَّلامُ عَلى مَنْ بَكَتْ عَلى جَسَدِ اَخیها بَیْنَ الْقَتْلى، حَتّى بَكى لِبُكائِها كُلُّ عَدُوّ وَ صَدیق، وَ رَأَى النّـاسُ دُمُوعَ الْخَیْلِ تَنْحَدِرُ عَلى حَوافِرِها عَلَى التَّحْقیقِ، اَلسَّلامُ عَلى مَنْ تَكَفَّلَتْ وَاجْتَمَعَتْ فی عَصْرِ عاشوراءَ بِبَناتِ رَسولِ اللهِ وَ اَطْفـالِ الْحُسَیْنِ،وَ قـامَتْ لَهَا الْقِیـامَةُ فی شَهـادَةِ الطِّفْلَیْنِ الْغَریبَیْنِ الْمَظْلُومَیْنِ، اَلسَّلامُ عَلى مَنْ لَمْ تَنَمْ عَیْنُها لاَِجْلِ حِراسَةِ آلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ فی طَفِّ نَیْنَواءَ ، وَ صارَتْ اَسیراً بِیَدِ الاَْعْداءِ ، اَلسَّلامُ عَلى مَنْ رَكِبَتْ بَعیراً بِغَیْرِ وَطاءِ، وَ نادَتْ اَخیها اَبَاالْفضْلِ بِهذَا النِّداءِ : اَخی اَبَا الْفضْلِ! اَنْتَ الَّذی اَرْكَبْتَنی اِذا اَرَدْتُ الْخُرُوجَ مِنَ الْمَدینَةِ، اَلسَّلامُ عَلى مَنْ خَطَبَتْ فی مَیْدانِ الْكُوفَةِ بِخُطْبَة نـافِعَة حَتّى سَكَنَتِ الاَْصْواتُ مِنْ كُلِّ نـاحِیَة، اَلسَّلامُ عَلى مَنِ احْتَجَّتْ فی مَجْلِسِ ابْنِ زِیاد بِاحْتِجاجات واضِحَة، وَ قـالَتْ فی جَوابِه بِبَیِّنـات صـادِقَة، اِذْ قـالَ ابْنُ زِیـاد لِزَیْنَبَ سَلامُ اللهِ عَلَیْها ؛ كَیْفَ رَاَیْتِ صُنْعَ اللهِ بِاَخیكِ الْحُسَیْنِ؟ قـالَتْ: مـا رَاَیْتُ اِلاّ جَمیلاًً ...
Hi, Um al-Masaeb (mother of misfortunes), Zaynab Kobra ... Hi, the lady who was thrown in her head for Hussein, a tyrant who fell naked on the soil. Abolfazl, you were the one who was riding me when I wanted to get out of Medina. Hey, let's talk about the one who spoke in the city square of Kufa; A useful speech that calmed down the voices from everywhere. Greetings to the one who argued in the Major General's Boards for obvious reasons and answered his words with clear and correct reasons, when Ibn Zaynid said to Zeinab: "How did you see God's work toward your brother Hussein (AS)?" He said: I did not see except beauty ...
 

Sayyida Zainab (sa): Date of Birth, Family members and Relationship There is divergence of opinions about the date of birth of Sayyida Zainab (sa) / Hazrat Zainab Kubra (sa). Some say it was 5th in the month of Jamadi Al-Awwal of Islamic calendar, and others say it was 1st in the month of Shabaan, in the 6th Hijrah year 625 AD.

Honorable Shaykh Jalil al Fadl ibn Shadhan ibn Khalil (radyallahu anhu) narrarated from Muhammad ibn Abi Amierrda narrarated from Jamil ibn Durjan from Zaraarah ibn Aeyena, from Abu Abdallah (alaihe salam), who said:
"And out of Yemen will come the Yamani, with
white flage (البيض) on one day, one month, one year (meaning someday)."
Out of the East will come the Khorasani, and out of Yemen will come The Yamani

Another sign: Soon after the death of Abdullah al Saud (curse of Allah be upon him) died, the Houthis took over Sanaa. This is proof that they are the army of Al Yamani, not Ahmad al Hassan. 
Saraya al Khorasani has 3000 volunteers fighting Daesh, 100 000 Hezbollah fighters defending Lebanon, 200 000 fighting for the Yamani in Yemen. May Allah bless them.

I don't know about you but I don't think I have a right to even say I myself follow Allah almightys holy words myself inshallah Allah gives us sweetness Rasulallah (saw) nearly got stoned to death in taif and Allah almighty gave the order for him to crush them between two mountains he beloved of Allah said no and showed mercy we can't even a handle a small rub when it affects our ego we my brother are sick with our egos we need to train ourselves.

Please to call this person dumb its not nice and yes the Quran is clear but shows different meaning and understandings when we advance our mind and soul at the moment we are like children reading on the surface but inshallah if you keep reading and trying your best to get closer to Allah almighty then your mind will take in more and more unknown things we wouldn't give something valuable for a child to play with so would Allah almighty give some of his holy treasures to us kids.

God is unique and their is only one who is gracious and merciful.  Do we not all remember the first commandment of the prophet Moses? "Thou shalt have no other gods but Me" As a former Christian  it was easy for me to convert to Islam because as @ali_fatheroforphans has said the Muslims love and follow Jesus. Reading the Quran and early Roman imperial manipulation of Christianity was one of the many driving forces that helped me find truth in a new religion (Shi’a Islam) and made it very clear to me why Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى gave us another prophet and the twelve Imams to guide us. 
I certainly haven’t ignored the truth...I needed to discover it first before i could follow it.
