  1. They seem to dislike Yasser Habib because he is not good for PR. Not for anything else.
  2. I took a look through it, but didn't find anything related. Just quotes which say it's not permissible to slander characters which Sunnis uphold (i.e. Abu Bakr and Umar) in order to maintain unity. But nothing which says Abu Bakr and Umar being Muslim is part of Shia doctrine. If there are any explicit quotes which do say they were Muslims in the dropbox, then please feel free to post them.
  3. Thanks for the reply. Very clear and straight to the point.
  4. To summarise the views of people here so far, we have some people on this thread who believe that Abu Bakr and Umar were kafirs, some who believe that Abu Bakr and Umar were disobedient Muslims and others such as Tawheed313 who simply don't know the religion of Abu Bakr and Umar.
  5. I'd still like to have the actual references for these hadiths though. Any chance you could get them?
  6. Do you think Hassan Nasrallah is doing Taqiyyah when he gives respect to Abu Bakr and Umar and declares Aisha to be 'umm ul-mu'mineen'?
  7. Your view seems to align with the Zaydi position. Which is that Abu Bakr and Umar were disobedient and Ali was wronged, but they were Muslims who eventually repented.
  8. Do you have the references for these two hadiths? If they are sound, then from a Shia perspective, it would seem impossible to believe that Abu Bakr and Umar were Muslims.
  9. Is this just a conclusion that you've reached yourself or do you have any quotes from Shia scholars which say that?
  10. lol well at least he actually answered the question... 'So my opinion, yes. both were kafir.'
  11. How would you reword my question to avoid any of this? I just want to know if Shia doctrine acknowledges Abu Bakr and Umar as Muslims. Why can no one answer this with a simple yes or no...
  12. I don't know if being cursed means you're not a Muslim. There are plenty of hadiths which says things like the one who lies about having a dream is cursed, I don't think anyone understood them to mean that they're disbelievers because of it.
  13. I know you did, I was talking about the others. Why do you think this is?
  14. It seems that most people here are doing everything they can to avoid answering the question.
  15. So your view is that you don't know the religion of Abu Bakr and Umar?
  16. So you also don't know whether your scholars that have passed away such as Imam al-Khoei died as Muslims?
  17. I didn't ask if Allah would send Abu Bakr and Umar to Jannah. I just wanted to know if Shia doctrine holds that they died as Muslims. The answer can only be one of the following: a) Shia scholars believe that Abu Bakr and Umar were Muslims (albeit disobedient ones) b) Shia scholars believe that Abu Bakr and Umar died as disbelievers c) Shia scholars do not know the religious beliefs of Abu Bakr and Umar You seem to be pointing towards option c, so which one is it?
  18. Whether or not people care about Abu Bakr is not really a concern of mine, I just want to know what Shia doctrine holds.
  19. Thank you for your clear-cut reply. Can you show me any quotes from your Maraji which state the above?
  20. What do you mean when you say 'historical records differ'? Is there anything in Shia literature that would lead one to believe that Abu Bakr and Umar were righteous men or died as Muslims? If so, where are these records and what do they say?
  21. Why would calling Abu Bakr a kafir go against the guidance of your ulama? Is it because your ulama believe he died as a Muslim or is it because they don't want it to backfire on the Shia population in Sunni countries? Please don't dodge this question.
  22. Did Abu Bakr and Umar die as disbelievers or Muslims?
  23. Again, according to some Sunni commentators the phrase is merely idiomatic.
  24. According to some Sunni commentators, the splitting of the moon was just an illusion, it didn't actually split.
  25. So we are free to rule by contradicting the Sharia until the Mahdi revealed themselves?
