  1. yeah i know that...i just needed to confirm it frm any irani brother/sister....just to higlight it...and explain
  2. Assalamoalikum I have a little confusion if some irani brother/sister can confirms or highlight the reality regarding some thing i have heard. We in pakistan consider iran having a proper islamic model and me being a follower of Rehbar khamanei always comes up and defend irani nation and their international, political religious stance when i argue with sunni friends of mine. I had visited iran but at that time i wasnt that mature. Anyways...a friend of mine (sunni afghan) with no biased feelings in heart visited Iran few weeks back. On return he told me such stuff which i wasnt willing to accept. Over all the character of society is not pious. Guys on roads keeps on teasing girls and straight away propose without knowing her (being a pakistani u wont find such practices here like less thn rare). A guy would randomly come up and ask a girl if she is shia and ready to do muttah for 2...3 hours (he said it is a common practice) Regarding hijab police is very strict if they find a girl without wearing hijab they would take her to police station for a night and would rape her and tell her tht this is what she wanted  can some one highlight this? P.S That friend of mine just visited tehran
  3. Assalamoalikum Can any one disect this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS4GpyuYTKA [MOD NOTE: The link shows there is no video at that URL. This topic is closed.]
  4. Thanks a ton brothers...you all replied really well and comprehensively ...we have this assurity that sunni brothers condemn yazeed as well but the guy actually asked me that "Did Yazid do any of these things like allowed Drinking alcohol, Brother-Sister Nikkah, Adulteration, No believe in Prophets Etc…?" I know he used to play with a monkey....but the other things stated...how can these be proved? And i would be really really greatful for a comprhensive reply on my other two questions
  5. Assalamoalikum There are some questions from a sunni brother and i need some help When you said that Hussainiat defeated Yazidiaat…what does it mean…? Were they representing two different religions…they were both Muslims and this was an infight between two Muslim brothers and one killed the other one with his military might and that ended the fight. Hazrat Hussain (R.A) laid his life and went to heavens as that was his predetermined destiny… Yazid stayed longer in this world and what did he do to deface Islam & its further propagation…? Here I add your lines last address of Imam Hussain (A.S) in Karbala where he clearly said to Yazeedi's Army that He had come in Karbala only because to save the real picture of Islam. I believe today if Muslims have Islamic belief in correct form only because of this sacrifice (Otherwise Yazid was going to allow Drinking alcohol, Brother-Sister Nikkah, Adulteration, No believe in Prophets Etc.). Did Yazid do any of these things like allowed Drinking alcohol, Brother-Sister Nikkah, Adulteration, No believe in Prophets Etc…? Had he tried to do so, he could have been smashed as well there and then. When these things were forbidden in the Glorious Quran, how he would venture upon them to bring about such hideous changes in the Islamic norms & culture…? Was he not monitored by the head of the Muslim governorate at that time? Was he accountable for his actions to his superiors or he was an absolute monarch…? Pls remember I’m not advocating about Yazid at all. For Hazrat Ali (R.A) and Hazrat Hussain (R.A) we have to use R.A as abbreviation for Radi-Allah-Anho… This is what is to be used for all the Sihaba-e-Ikraam. A.S which you have used is abbreviation for Alai-hi-Salaam…This is to be used for Prophets/Rasools only. Keep everyone on their respective places of honor & dignity and address them appropriately without any exaggeration to enhance their ranks or vice versa. Any food which is given on name of any holy person other thn Allah is forbidden to eat
  6. Asalamoalikum I just recieved an email with subject misconceptions about muharram. can any one help me in replying? FYI In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate "May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You" Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu Mubarakbad for New Islamic Year to You In Saudi Arabia today is the First Day on 1433H Facts and Misconceptions Facts About Muharram Muharram is one of the four sacred Months out of twelve. The other being ZiQad,ZilHajj and Rajab. These four months have been sacred since the creation of universe – as told by Allah swt in the Quran. Muharram is a sacred month NOT because the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (saw) was martyred in this month. It is sacred because Allah made it sacred along with three other months and told us about it in the Quran. PROOF: Allah says in the Holy Quran: “Surely the number of months with Allah is twelve months in Allah’s ordinance since the day when He created the heavens and the earth, of these four being sacred; that is the right reckoning; therefore be not unjust to yourselves regarding them.” [surah 9 :At-Taubah, Verse 36] Prophet Muhammad (saw) informed us about the four sacred months in the following narration: “The year is of twelve months, out of which four months are sacred: Three are in succession Dhul-Qa’da, Dhul-Hijja and Muharram, and (the fourth is) Rajab…” [bukhari Vol 004, Book 054, Hadith 419 After Ramadan, fasting in the month of Muharram is most rewardable. PROOF: Prophet Muhammad saw said “The most excellent fast after Ramadan is in Allah’s month; al-Muharram, and the most excellent prayer after what is prescribed is prayer during the night.” [Muslim 6: 2661] Prophet Muhammad (saw) called Muharram “Allah’s Month” Facts about Ashura (The 10th of Muharram) Fasting on the 10th Muharram i.e. Ashura was obligatory on the Muslims before the fasts of Ramadan were made obligatory. Narrated by Mother of the Believers Aisha (ra): “The people used to fast on Ashura (the tenth day of the month of Muharram) before the fasting of Ramadan was made obligatory. And on that day the Ka’aba used to be covered with a cover. When Allah made the fasting of the month of Ramadan compulsory, Allahs Apostle said, “Whoever wishes to fast (on the day of Ashura) may do so; and whoever wishes to leave it can do so.” [bukhari Vol 02, Book 026, Hadith Number 662] Fast of Ashura expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year. “Abu Qatada al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) was asked about his fasting… He was asked about fasting on the day of Ashura (10th of Muharram), whereupon be said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year…”[Muslim: Book 06: Hadith 2603] Misconceptions about Ashura This is the day Prophet Adam (as) was created This is the day when Allah accepted the repentance of Adam (as) This is the day when Ibrahim (as) was born. This is the day the Qayamat (doomsday) will occur. (From hadiths we know Qayamat will occur on a Friday, but does not specify which month) Whoever baths on Ashura will never get ill. All of the above are misconceptions based on unauthentic traditions. Muharram is an evil or unlucky month.( due to the battle of Karbala) Marriages should not be held in Muharram. This misconception can be easily removed by the fact that on the exact same day Husain (ra) was martyred, years ago Prophet Musa as and his followers were saved from Pharaoh, which is why Prophet Muhammad saw observed the fast on Ashura and ordered the Muslims to do the same. The day can not be lucky and unlucky at the same time. Historical Facts about Muharram Musa (as) and the Bani Israel were saved from the Pharaoh by the parting of the sea on 10th Muharram. Prophet Musa (as) as a sign of gratitude to Allah used to fast on the day of Ashura and Jews did the same. Prophet Muhammad (saw) on hearing the fast of Musa (as) also ordered the Muslims to fast on this day and himself did the same. Prophet Muhammad (saw) decided to fast on 9th Muharram as well to differentiate from the Jews but he passed away before he could do so. PROOF: Ibn Abbas ra narrated: “When the Prophet came to Medina, he found (the Jews) fasting on the day of Ashura (i.e. 10th of Muharram). They used to say: “This is a great day on which Allah saved Moses and drowned the folk of Pharaoh. Moses observed the fast on this day, as a sign of gratitude to Allah.” The Prophet said, “I am closer to Moses than they.” So, he observed the fast (on that day) and ordered the Muslims to fast on it. [ Bukhari: Vol 4, Book 055, Hadith Number 609] Ibn Abbas ra reported: ”When the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) fasted on the day of Ashura and commanded that it should be observed as a fast, they (his Companions) said to him: Messenger of Allah, it is a day which the Jews and Christians hold in high esteem. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: When the next year comes, God willing, we would observe fast on the 9th". But the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) died before the advent of the next year.” [Musim: Book 006, Hadith Number 2528] Abdullah ibn Abbas (ra) also reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) had said: “If I live till the next (year), I would definitely observe fast on the 9th".[Muslim: Book 006, Hadith Number 2529] Companion Umar Farooq (ra) succumbed to his injuries and attained Martyrdom on the 1st of Muharram, 23 AH (After Hijri) Grandson of Prophet Muhammad (saw) Hussain ibn Ali (ra) along with most of his family members was martyred in the desert of Kerbala in Iraq on the 10th of Muharram. Authentic Ibadaat (Worship) of Muharram Fasting in Muharram (any day) Fasting on 10th Muharram and combining it with the fast of 9th Muharram to distinguish from the Jews. Innovations and things to avoid in Muharram Preparing special dishes meals in Muharram and Ashoora Muslims should not eat any meals, dishes made specifically by the Shias for Ashoora as it involves eating food on which a name other than the name of Allah has been taken or is prepared as a token to any other other than Allah. If you do end up receiving such food, distribute it amongst your non Muslim servants. read more Eating food that is made for Ashoora http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/102885 Holding Matam ~lamentation and mourning ceremonies in the memory of martyrdom of Sayyidna Husain (ra) Muslims should not take part in Matam as Matam is totally against the basic teaching of Islam. read more Matam/savagery of the Shia in Muharram is not a part of Islam http://answersforshiafriend.wordpress.com/2009/12/15/matamsavagery-of-the-shia-in-muharram-is-not-a-part-of-islam/ Cursing the companions. Wearing black clothes and starving and refusing to drink in memory of Husain (ra) All these are deviant practices which go against the basic teachings of Quran and Prophet Muhammad (saw) He said “He is not from our group who slaps his checks, tears his clothes and cries in the manner of the people of jahiliyyah.” (Sahih Bukhari) Sayyidna Husain (ra) before his demise advised his beloved sister Sayyidah Zainab (ra), not to mourn over his death in this manner. He said, “My dear sister! I swear upon you that in case I die you shall not tear your clothes, nor scratch your face, nor curse anyone for me or pray for your death.” (Al-Kamil, ibn Kathir vol. 4 pg. 24) http://javeria.wordpress.com/2008/01/09/muharram-facts-and-misconceptions/
  7. am wondering when I come across the following statements about Gadafi and Libya. Are these statements really true? If so, why people rebel against him? 1. There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free for all its citizens. 2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law. 3. Home considered a human right in Libya – Gaddafi vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a home. Gaddafi’s father has died while him, his wife and his mother are still living in a tent. 4. All newlyweds in Libya receive $60,000 Dinar (US$ 50,000 ) by the government to buy their first apartment so to help start up the family. 5. Education and medical treatments are free in Libya. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%. 6. Should Libyans want to take up farming career, they would receive farming land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and livestock to kick- start their farms – all for free. 7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US $2, 300/mth accommodation and car allowance. 8. In Libyan, if a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidized 50% of the price. 9. The price of petrol in Libya is $0. 14 per liter. 10. Libya has no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – now frozen globally. 11. If a Libyan is unable to get employment after graduation the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found. 12. A portion of Libyan oil sale is, credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens. 13. A mother who gave birth to a child receive US $5 ,000 14. 40 loaves of bread in Libya costs $ 0.15 15. 25% of Libyans have a university degree 16. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man-Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country. Fe'amanillah!
  8. Asalamoalikum I heard if some one skips fasting for three consecutive days without any reason. he/she should be killed the fourth day. is it true? can any one provide some hadith regardi it? wasalam Hassan Raza
  9. Asalamoalikum During some conversation with a sunni brother he posed some questions....I would appreciate if some one could share their knowledge regarding such queries...discussion was about cursing enemies of ahlulbait (a.s) and that friend had a stance that only Allah has authority to curse anyone..and he kept on saying this that they had habbit of forgiving there enemies so we cnt curse them.....B/m are few points 1.This was God "himself" at a specific occasion against some Christians who "neither read Qalma nor called themselves Muslims." Remember when a sahaba killed a guy calling himself a Muslim, God had condemned the act in the Quran. 2. God can do anything, he will even throw people in Jahannum, doesn't mean Prophet Muhammad (SAW) wished Jahannum for anyone. Doubt this? 3. He had prayed for forgiveness for a group of people 70 times on which again God revealed in Quran that He won't forgive them even if he asked 70 times to which Prophet (SAW) said if he knew God would forgive on asking more, he would have done that. 4. He also forgave the Jewish woman who poisoned him. Doubt this? 5. He also forgave Hinda who took his uncle's liver out (Hamza RA), he only didn't like to see her due to bad memories. Doubt this? 6. He also forgave people of Taif. Doubt this? 7. He also declared amnesty to Meccans, all who persecuted the Muslims. His life is full of such examples as he was not meant to "hate" anyone, he was Rehmatulilalameen and anyone who denies that is misinterpreting his life. Doubt this? 8. When Prophet SAW in a battle threw stones, later God revealed in Quran it was not him (SAW) but God himself who threw stones further testifies to the fact that Prophet SAW meant no harm for anyone and when he acted on the contrary, it was only to follow God almighty's orders. 9. God also revealed in Quran not to raise voice in front of Prophet SAW otherwise all good deeds will be lost without person even knowing about it but hat was His love for Prophet SAW but prophet SAW would still forgive "if" given a choice. Humans must follow Prophet SAW as he is the role model sent by God himself as Quran clearly states, so let God do as he wills, he is all powerful and He knows what we humans don't. As for what you wrote below, I have already read it all but what you need to know is that it is only in Shia books. Read below, it will make sense and again if you doubt a point, let me know. 10. For me, Prophet SAW's companions are on "Haq." There is a hadith that says tumhaaray aamaal tumhaaray haakim ban jaatay hain. The fact that Hazrat Abu Baqr (ra) and Hazrat Umar (ra) were caliphs when all Ahl-e-bait lived among Muslims testifies to the fact that both were great rightful leaders otherwise Allah would not put them in those position while pious people like Hazrat Ali (ra) and Bibi Fatima (ra) and others lived among them otherwise the hadith goes wrong. 11. As for Bibi Fatima (ra) getting injured by Hazrat Umar (ra), it's only in Shia books, there is no ihtijaaj on records from Hazrat Ali (ra). If you find one then how do you explain Hazrat Umar (ra)'s advisory council containing Hazrat Ali (ra) in it. Don't forget Hazrat Ali RA was Sher-e-khuda and need not be afraid of anyone. 12. Also how do you explain that when Damascus was conquered and Hazrat Umar (ra) went to Damascus, he appointed Hazrat Ali (ra) as his deputy in Medina. They respected each other otherwise Hazrat Ali RA would have never accepted it. 13. Hazrat Ali RA was Chief Judge of Medina during Hazrat Umar RA's reign. How could he have differences with him? Hazrat Ali RA also praised Hazrat Umar RA' after his death that he was a unique administrator. 14. Hazrat Ali RA participated in Hazrat Abu Bakr RA's funeral. They had great respect for each other, temporary differences had died long ago. How do you explain this? 15. As for Fadak, Hazrat Abu Bakr RA's argument was as you stated below but he also went to Hazrat Fatima RA on his foot to ask for forgiveness if she was unhappy and didn't like his decision but said he was simply following Prophet SAW orders. There could be misunderstandings between the two but to say Bibi Fatima RA never talked to him due to this is only in Shia books. We say she was the Sardar of all women of Jannah and wouldn't fight over worldly things as she was not like an average person, she was paak and the SARDAR of women of Jannah and was generous like Prophet SAW. Hazrat Ayesha RA also said that closest to Prophet Muhammad SAW in nature was Bibi Fatima RA. As for inheritance verse about Suleman AS, that is inheritance in religion not in property. Isn't that close to your argument about Imaamat? This was inheritance of prophethood. 16. Finally, Hazrat Ali RA fought a battle with the wife of Prophet SAW, Hazrat Ayesha RA which was a face to face conflict. When he won, he very respectfully allowed her to leave the battlefield with honour. This is how paak people of Ahl-e-bait were. Don't compare them with average people. If they wanted to curse, they would have done it themselves. Regards Hassan Raza
