Bashir Najafi's stance has been the same for as long as I have seen/read him. Several other marja e taqleed hold the same view so people that are against blood-rituals need to tone down their opposition to these rituals. I personally, for myself, do not see much value in these rituals but out of respect I am careful not to do/say anything to hurt sentiments of my fellow believers.

And what type of war is that brother? Being a keyboard warrior in Shiachat? Seriously, just look back at your thread and see that you've achieved nothing positive. And there are dozens n dozens of these threads building up in Shiachat's databases. It's old, move on. Find a better way to campaign [not bash] your fellow's actions. Furthermore, work on yourself too, your mind and your nafs. Take lesson from the signature that you possess because clearly you are not a freethinker... and that's exactly what this discussion has become - "worse than useless".

^ Same as the dog of Ashab e Kahaf in Quran who was counted as part of the group of the people of Allah swt as Allah swt says he was the 5th or the 6th among them and so on.

Like I mentioned above, you can not regulate either the practices of Aza or the thoughts around this.

There is this story, real or not, that a king approached an Arif while he was sitting under a tree and a dog was sitting next ot him. The king mocked the arif telling him that the two were alike. Arif replied that if I obey my lord, I'm better than this dog, and if this dog is more obedient to his lord, then it is better than him. Attributing one as a dog for Imam Hussain has deeper meanings than purely fiqh side of it.

Maybe you should try doing something meaningful this Ashura instead of complaining about your fellow Shi'a brethren in a fit of self-righteousness because apparently they aren't doing enough as yourself to appease a bunch of heretics who will kill and persecute them just for breathing, regardless of whether they flagellate themselves or not.

I stopped caring what Sunnis and Wahabis think of me a long time ago. Let the people who want to cut themselves cut themselves, nobody has any right to tell them they can't.

Please brother for tonight have some shame and leave some aimless discussions. You are not a Marj'a and no one is under your taqleed, if an individual follows a Marj'a who allows him to do tatbir, zanjir, zanjeel, or whatever and he does this, then it is between him, his marj'a, Allah, and Abi Abdillah. And if someone chooses not to or follows a Marj'a who forbids these actions, then again it is between him, his marj'a, Allah, and Abi Abdillah. Khalas, there are very important A'mal for tonight and tomorrow on the day of Ashura, I'd recommend that our honourable brothers and sisters preform them and remember Imam Hussain, and leave these discussions for the Ulama.

I love snow in video games, especially horror games. Maybe because as I was growing up, I saw films like The Thing (horror in Antarctica - recommend a watch!).

COD Ghosts has some snowy levels, very nice indeed.

StayingHalal got a reaction from Muslim2010 in Umar's Marriage To Um Kulthum In Shia Hadiths
Um Kulthum bint Abu Bakr. The marriage was protested against by Imam Ali (as) who had married Abu Bakr's wife after Abu Bakr's death. However, Aisha pushed for the marriage to go through.

Mohi ud Deen Nauwi writes in his book Tehzeeb ul Isma that Umar had married daughter of Abu Bakar:

Ayesha had two sisters which are the one mentioned in talk of Abu Bakar with Ayesha, These were two brothers and two sisters. Ayesha had asked: I have two brothers, but where did I get two sisters from? Abu Bakar replied that the one in womb of daughter of Kharija, I guess she is girld. This is mentioned in chapter of “al haba min al mahdhab”. And they have been mentioned in Isma ur Rijal, and these daughters are Isma bint Abu Bakar, and Umm Kulthum; She is the one in womb of mother, and we have talked of her in incident before. And this Umm Kulthum was the one who married Umar bin Khitaab.

StayingHalal got a reaction from ShiaLuma in Why Today's Society Is Almost Nearly Corrupted.
Sorry, but this is nonsense (blaming call of duty for most world problems... REALLY?). What video games did the killers of Imam Hussain (as) play?

If anything, people are less violent after playing a violent game, because the game has allowed them to satisfy their "need" (more like desire). This is according to one study: http://www.delcotimes.com/general-news/20141001/villanova-profs-study-video-games-may-reduce-violence

Entertainment has both pros and cons. I allow my 9 year old son to play shooter games and I was happy that he did so well on his first paintball shooting range that even the instructor praised him. We live in times were carrying a weapon is abnormal (and a crime in many places) hence the lack of know-how on how to handle such a weapon is limited too, whereas it was normal back in the days to be armed (with a sword) and know how to use it. So if tomorrow my son is required to answer the call of Imam [atfs] for jihad, at least I will be at ease to know he can hold, point and shoot. I think we should be taking in as much useful knowledge as possible from these sort of entertainments.

Of course, being addicted to video games (or anything for that matter) is an issue that needs to be addressed.
