  1. True. I thought the biggest challenges would be of theological kind, as of what is important, what is unimportant in religion and so on.
  2. So apparently we all ought to run around with our dried out placentas too? Human stagnation is paganism, human growth in idoelogies, languages, and knowledges is Islam. Circumcison is one of those things which tell of the progress of humans, had humans never invented tools to rid the extra skin off, Allah swt won’t had ordered us to do so. Another example is the first ayat of ‘teaching humans by Pen’, Allah swt orders by the tools available to men which means men have progressed through the knowledge and intellect given by God. Paganism on the other hand is all about stangantion and remaining in the state of lack of intellect, knowledge, modesty, & selflessness, in which all humans are born into and learn these traits as they grow older and become better humans.
  3. How are you compelled by his ideas if “most of his videos are in Arabic”, and apparently you can’t understand them? Just trying to understand from the two of you, what’s so unique about Yasser Awde?
  4. Would you kindly list at least three things where Shia ‘faith’ needs reform? Also what’s so particularly wrong with majority Shias of Lebanon?
  5. Salam: Even if it’s a very Christian name, as long as it’s not something related to paganism, it should be fine. For the last name, you get it from your father and no change in religion could change it. I believe you are fine. The question I’ve always wondered about the male reverts is regarding circumcision? Do you have to have it or is it optional according to the Shi’a fiqh?
  6. Read things out loud and react to the emotions there in.
  7. It really depends on the mood, inclination, and how fresh I feel. Salat Ul Layl if only doing the basics could take anywhere between 15 min. to an hour (all 11 Raka’). A passage of Qur’an could be quick but if you augment it with a bit of extra reading of a Tafseer, and then think more about it too, it could easily be a 5min. to half an hour exercise. But don’t push yourself too hard, you could start with just the three raka’ that is 2 raka’ of Shafa salat and 1 raka’ of Witr as a starter Salaat ul Layl. You could do it even 10 min. before the Fajr time. So let’s say Fajr is 6am, you could pray the three raka (2+1) at 5:50am. Just keep working towards it. And any days in between where you don’t feel like it, just skip till your heart yearns for it again. This is from an advice of Ameer ul Momineen (as).
  8. They have all the rights that they had before the marriage, it’s just that now you would need to balance their rights with your rights and your spouse’s rights.
  9. Salam- https://doctorzaidi.com/ I’m not suggesting to buy anything from him but what I read on his website, it all makes sense to me. I’m a big fan of D3 and Zinc followed by anything that helps in not wearing stress at all times. More MDs among us could comment better.
  10. Thanks for posting the hadiths. I agree with them wholeheartedly but disagree with your conclusion. I heard it somewhere which goes like, ‘there are no ugly girls, there are just lazy girls’. 100% of physical beauty is in good health. Pick any random healthy female and she would be beautiful looking irrespective of her anything. Health is the key which many females and males ignore, and then complain about looking undesirable. You could test it too. Look at the majority of Muslim couples that are in the West and are health conscious. Now compare them with their same age cousins who married the same time back in Asian countries where there is not much culture of being health aware and the foods have more sugars in it. You could see them looking ten years older although they would be of the same age. It’s a generalization but holds true for most part. If you reread the Hadith that you posted with requirement of good health as an indicator of physical beautify then it would make more sense.
  11. You could either do Salat ul Layl, read Qur’an, or read / research a book on deen or akhlaq. A moment of pondering in religion or the magnificence of Allah swt is worth more than many mustahib salat.
  12. As long as culture doesn’t clash with religious obligations and mannerism.
  13. Shirk is anything that comes between the order of God and you.
  14. Resolve brother resolve. Mind and will power is way stronger than any desire or emotions. Next time you get overpowered by the desires leading you to Masturbate, get up from the bed, and loudly say Audhu Billah ... and Bismillah... Your so far losing to temptation would be over in three episodes.
  15. www.tanzil.net hands down. You could search by Arabic words, and select between multiple translations. Reading Quran with a mix of translations is absolute best step one before jumping into Tafseer. Nothing can beat the word of God...
  16. I knew someone doing the lecture transcripts at one time for some other lectures. Wouldn’t it be nice if those are published? It’s not very hard to do to be honest, maybe you should try doing some for your uncle.
  17. Doesn’t all of it makes sense logically? An easy way would be to imagine doing otherwise (meaning doing in the makrooh way) and see yourself what happens.
  18. They have been brainswahsed to think like this. Also inquisition has been suppressed in Sunnis so combine the two, you got perfect slaves born generations after generations, giving justification for their tormenteors. Look how 60% of population of Mosul, Iraq celebrated ISIS taking them over only to force marry their daughters and sisters and chopping their heads for having small beards etc. It’s the way it is unfortunately, and it will remain as is. The roots of this mental slavery are deeper than you and I could possibly understand.
  19. This is not true. Because this so called open heart surgery implies many more false things. These rumors were spread by hypocrites among sahaba many years later.. 1. Prophet was unclean once and then got cleansed????? 2. Zam Zam water is more cleaner than the Prophet so it could clean the Prophet?????? 3. According to Qur'an, Jabreel’s job has never been performing surgeries?????? 4. Prophet Jesus (عليه السلام) was born clean yet the Prophet Muhammad (sawaw) who is superior to him, was born unclean and was cleansed later??????
  20. Jazkallah for saying this. Quran supports this: 58:22 - You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day having affection for those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers or their sons or their brothers or their kindred. Those - He has decreed within their hearts faith and supported them with spirit from Him. And We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - those are the party of Allah . Unquestionably, the party of Allah - they are the successful. 9:24 - Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."
  21. this is what you do when a non-mahram extends her hand
  22. Salam Br. You did a very wrong thing saying no to her just like this. I wish I could have put it in non-judgemental words but to tell you the truth, many young girls and boys are plain STUPID (immature, inexperienced, give in to fad, don’t think through, follow the herd mentality). In this case, if there’s anybody to blame, it would be her father who is given responsibility to teach her proper decorum while outside either in the real world or over social media. You should had talked to her, explained to her in plain terms your ghaira about it, and explained to her the social hijab etiquettes over internet, and should have waited for her next move. This would have shown her sincerity towards you and would have shown you if she was a person who could ‘take’ the good advice or was of rebellious kind whose ego gets affected by the good words. My advice to you is: if you could still talk to her, politely explain her those things, and see if she indeed listens to you. If she does, then you have found a gem. She would be a perfect girl to grow together with who values good advices and is willing to get better. If she won’t listen, then it would be her loss, losing a potential husband who has religious knowledge and ghaira for his wife in his heart. I can assure you, a year down the road you would be thanking me. An advice for you- Loosen up. Give space to people. Find the core goodness in your spouse, (potential spouse), if the person’s core is good, she (he) would turn from the doors of hell to become a better person (like Hurr, the companion of 3rd Imam). If the core of the person is not good, by all means reject them.
  23. Salam - Thank you. Ordered my copy. Waiting for it to arrive. As far as above notes on the cost of the books, nobody reads books that come for free. Knowledge needs to be "earned" and one way of earning it is, rather than going miles on foot and spending months with a teacher like old days, order a book from the comfort of your home with the money you have earned with hard work. No difference. Quit complaining! Thank you for writing a wonderful book. May you be with HIM.
  24. So here’s an interesting take, Since fe’l is every action of a person, including breathing, thinking, intending, etc., fe’l is the proof of the perosn’s very existence. Now again read the Ayaat of Ghadeer. What would it make of no fe’l has been done if the ‘special message’ is not delivered?
  25. Salam- so a whole bunch of us chipped in Alhamdolillah. Any idea what would she do with the 10 grand? She already has about half of it. Does she has a caretaker, I mean would it be wise for her to carry this amount without a plan? Does she has a longer term plan, or would she keep on running this go fund campaign? @Mansur Bakhtiari @Husayni @AStruggler
