  1. Wa Alaikum Salam, Then I don't know how to explain how a person who calls himself a Muslim can defend a non-Muslim OPPRESSOR against Muslim OPPRESSED. Not to mention that Azerbaijan is the third Shia majority country of the world. Even someone who doesn't really know what's happening would think twice before coming up with such statements. Anyways, may Allah forgive us all and may He reestablish justice all over the world İnshaAllah. WasSalam
  2. By the grace of God, Almighty! He is the Merciful and Forgiving. His love, mercy, forgiveness and protection is sufficient to us. We need no one and nothing else. " And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart." " Al-Isra / 81
  3. 1. Unlike Armenians, Azerbaijanis do not require anyone's approval, including Iran's. We are muslims, this is our land as well as land of the Ummah and we will liberate it even if the whole world goes against us InshaAllah. 2. I will not be surprised if you are an armenian yourself. Nothing wrong to be an armenian, but it is wrong to be unjust and a tool of imperialistic powers. Armenia and Israel have done and continues to do EXACTLY the same. It is amazing how these two are so alike in the way they do things. 3. Iran is not an authority for us, wasn't it for the Rahbar Khamenei and other religious leaders, we would not support it either. But we support Iran because it is Islam that we support not Iran. Having said that, Islamic Iran is not supporting Armenia, it is another Israeli propoganda to divide Azerbaijan and Iran who share same religion, same culture, same history. Not even to mention 25 % of Iranian population who are Azeris. Which respected religious leader you think would support non-muslim opressor Armenia? Half Azeri Ayatollah Khamenei? (He has th fatwa about Karabakh by the way, research it) Azeri Ayatollah Jaffar Subhani? Azeri Ayatollah Lankarani? Did you know that half of the top Iranian Ayatollahs are actually Azeris? Don't want to be rude but do you even understand what's going on? I don't think so. Don't confuse politics with reality. I don't find it necessary to explain what is done and why. But will say only one thing, Iran and Azerbaijan are two brothers who cannot be separated from each other. Israel and USA tried, didn't work. 4. 75 % of Karabakh were Armenian? Buddy you met the wrong person. Repeating one more time. We are from Karabakh. Keep you numbers for those who has no idea what's going on. You either armenian with nacionalistic sentiments or know nothing about it. Even now in Karabakh there about 140 000 armenians, after 22 years of forced immigration. Only after massacre of Azeri civillians in Karabakh in 90s , we had close to 1 million refugees coming to Baku. There were so many refugees that Baku, the capital, even after 24 years, still cannot accommodate most of them. And still there are people who live in tents. 5. Please don't talk about racism. As a muslim, if you are of course, you can't be unjust even though it is against you. And Karabakh is such a clear case that only super unjust and racist human being (and of course those who has no idea what is what) can say Karabakh belongs to Armenia. Even Israelis, when try to justify the occupation of Palestine, say that their ancestor lived in Jerusalim. Armenians don't even have this history, because they have been exiled from other part of the continent to our lands and we allowed them to live with us. That' s all. They were always minority among us. And look how they repaid our good will. Having said that Armenia, by itself was never and is not a problem. It is just a tool in Russia's hand. Everybody knows it. It is not against Armenia we are fighting but against Russia and other imperialistic powers. But we have never backed down. And we hold an honouroble history; history of shahada and dignity. the time will come when Allah will grant our lands back to us. InshaAllah that day is not very far away. WasSalam
  4. Oh, and one more thing. We will NEVER forget the Khodjali Massacre. ISIS is a mercy itself compared to what armenians did with civilians in Khodjali... P.S. [For those who are interested, I am ready to provide you with thousands of pictures and videos. ]
  5. AsSalam Alaikum, My father is from Karabakh. Armenian land? I don't know whether you are a muslim or not but you lie big time. Because I have never met a person who is nazi and liar yet call himself/herself a Muslim. Even the name Karabakh (Black Garden) is Azerbaijani. Karabakh is recognized by the whole world as part of Azerbaijan, all UN resolutions demand Armenia to withdraw from occupied lands. But you won't until Russia orders you. Even the capital of Armenia today, Yerevan, is actually Irevan Khaqanate (historic Azeri land) it was given to you by Russian empire only couple hundred years ago. You did not even live in that area until Ottoman empire expiled you from what is today's Turkey. Stop fooling people. Armenians are historic liars and backstabers (not all of them of course). We let you live in our lands and you stabbed us. Whoever read world history knows that you actually did the same with Ottomans, Rome Empire and even Persian empire. And at some point you will do the same to Russia who invaded our lands because they could not digest our revolution in 1990 that made us independent again and started the fall of Soviet Union. If you are muslim go repent. And be just. Or don't mention Hussains name, EVER! And know this very well, we, the shias of Azerbaijan, will liberate our lands InshaAllah. Don't even dream the opposite. Allah is our witness, justice always prevails the falsehood. WasSalam P.S. [ Azerbaijan has never been, will never be with Israel. Majority of us despise this "country." Our government does not represent our people's will. I can't believe I read what I read here...] " Live like Ali (as), die like Hussain (as) "
  6. AsSalam Alaikum, Dear brothers and sisters, You have just made the biggest mistake, commit the biggest sin; helped your enemies destroy Islam. In this conversation both sides disobeyed Koran's clear order, "not to be divided". Some jahil comes in and says something, the other jahil replies in the same manner and the next thing we see shias and sunnis start stereotyping and blaming each other for no reason. If you think about it, there is no reason of what you are saying. Eveyrbody knows that both Shias and Sunnis read Koran. What kind of thinking is this? And are you sure the person who said bad about one side or the other is not an actual provocator? Please brothers and sister, WAKE UP!!! WasSalam
  7. AsSalam Alaikum, I think Magma has already given the best answer to the question. One sentence and to the point; "God is all knowing, not all learning." Because this question by itself is paradoxical. The atheist is trying to compare the creation to a Creator, but that is the whole difference between believer and non-believer.
  8. That would be amazing if you could do so. That is, in fact, the main reason I posted this thread here. I find people in this forum are more educated and more involved. If it is not much trouble for you, please do so and I will remember you in my prayer InshaAllah! P.S. [ I can send you all the information about me , picture etc if necessary]
  9. Salam Alaikum, Thank you for your reply sister. You are very true, and I thought and even tried these options. But my situation is a little bit different. I moved to Canada when I just turned 20, alone, no friends or relatives. I have moved a lot for the past 9 years in general. On the other side I became religious only 5 years ago, and I did that at expense of leaving everyone in my huge circle of friends. I had no other way because their life styles contradicted mine big time. I have two best friends now, one of them lives in a different province and the other one in Europe. One of them actually introduced me to someone (his wife did) but it didn't work out, his wife wasn't very happy about it because I was the one who did not want to continue, the girl felt bad about it and I felt bad about the whole situation. I don't want to put my friends in an uncomfortable situation. On the other hand, I don't have too much time to attend many religious ceremonies as I have just graduated from second university, work a lot, have social responsibilities, planning to sponsor my family here etc. Basically no time. Plus the two, three main Jaffari communities that I know in Canada are kind of also belong to one particular culture so since there is no diversity it is not easy to communicate and create bonds with them. You know how rumors fly when everybody knows everybody (unfortunate but true). It is so sad that in the world of technology Shias do not have a virtual platform for those who seek religious union. I am sure there are a lot of people like me, who are looking for spiritual partners but have no way of finding them. Maybe Shiachat might consider it for the future InshaAllah.
  10. Salam Alaikum dear brothers and sister, My question is both simple and complicated. I am 29 year old male and looking for a religious (truly religious) and educated wife in Toronto (or Canada), I don't have problems traveling as I work for Air Canada. The problem is that there are no resources to find such person. The only matrimonial website I know is Shiamatch.com and there are almost no religious girls there. Can anyone direct me in the right direction in this matter please? I am religious, educated and a good-looking guy. Please advise and may Allah reward you for your efforts InshaAllah.
  11. Salam Aleykum brother, You are welcome 1) No, salafism in Azerbaijan cannot possibly spread because 85 % of people are shia, we are neighbours of Iran (where 25 % of population are Azerbaijanis including high ranking Marjas) and we have places in the city like Qom, no government allowed to be there, it is a shia religious strongholds (you can google Nardaran for example). Salafi cancer was recently (about 20-25 years ago) and artifically inserted by different powers to hold shias i.e. whole nation back, as a balance, so that the dictator can rule as much as he wants, and external powers use our oil and other resources but they are insignificant group of people, backed by corrupt government, but still weak. Education level in Azerbaijan is pretty high which is why people can see how dumb this people are, there is even no need to explain that to people, salafis have no popular support, people don't like them and think they are brainwashed idiots (which they are). But you know their style, even one of them is dangerous, they can be used tomorrow to blow up innocent people. 2) Yes. About 3 million Azerbaijanis there.Strong community, a lot of devoted muslims. But their strength is not just that, There are a lot of rich Azeris there and also they were always on top of criminal world in Russia (Us and russian have good relations but are also indirectly enemies since they directly and indirectly (through Armenia,) occupied 20 % of our lands, so there are both mumins and mafia, both consist of Azeris. It is a paradox, I know, but a reality
  12. Salam Aleykum. I am an Azerbaijani. 1. You won't find more religious shias than Azerbaijanis, we even secretly kept all our key islamic events under massacres of Soviet Union, they have killed and exiled more than 30 000 of Azerbaijani marjas, scientists etc. in the 40s. In 1990 we had a revolution against the biggest country in the world and became independent again, after 70 years. In fact the shia leaders in Iran, Turkey and other countries are Azeris. 2. Looks like we have a lot of racist Iranians here. Islam is against racism, Azeris and Farsis ruled in those land for centuries, so if we say Azerbaijan belongs to Iran then we might as well say Iran belongs to Azerbaijan, so please, go work on your Imaan and don't push your Agenda under Islamic pretext. 3. O shias, don't you have more important things to discuss? And look how many people here judge wihtout having any information about Islam in Azerbaijan. It is sad... 4. For the past 5 years, despite the fact that we were continuously opressed by Russia, USA, Europe and even Iran before the revolution, and despite artificial creation of Salafi terrorirsts by Saudis, Islamic resistance in Azerbaijan became a major opposition and rapidly growing with popular support SO please... stop judging others, hiding your racist beliefs under Islamic umbrella and just pray for us. WasSalam
  13. AsSalam Aleyum brother, When I started reading your comment I thought you are Iranian, but when I read the first sentence of your second paragraph I concluded that you are not, because typically an Iranian (those belonging to Farsi ethnic group) would say quite the opposite, they would not like all Azerbaijan to be apart but rather joint to Iran. With all do respect, I will have to reply to your comment simply because it is obvious that you do not know anything about Azerbaijan, Iran, their history and the region in general. Just before I do reply , I want to mention that I am a muslim who believes in Wilayat and far away from nationalistic sentiments but just want to give my brother in faith historical information so that he knows. 1. First of all while the invasion of Russian Empire, Iran was not called Iran but Persia. The term Iran, which means "land of aryans", is an ancient name, of Sasanid periods , with different borders, was brought back by Reza Shah in 1935. But this is just FYI 2. I know my ancestors for 600 years, their names, ethnicity, where they came from, what they did, status in society etc. My family tree is in the museum in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Since I mentioned Baku, that's where I am from, a native one, was never really conquered in ancient times. Armies would just never go that far. 3. Azerbaijanis are not turkified as some storytellers like to say it, we are ethnic turkish people. But also we are not from the same group of modern Turkey turkish. We are from Oguz branch. And we did not immigrate there from East like them, but we were always there. 4. North of Iran is still called West Azerbaijan, and our 20 million Azerbaijanis never got assymylated even though they were denied schools, newspapers, TVs etc in their language for centuries. This is the characteristic of Azerbaijanis. We are not ASSYMYLATING. Our culture is different from iranian, from turkey turkish and from everything else. 5. Soviet Union fell after the revolution in Baku, in 1990 January 20th. More than 100 martyrs and 1000 wounded. The reason that we were under constant pressure from all sides and also why we are independent is that we do not submit to unjust rulers. That is why our lands are divided as well as our population, south is in Iran, north in Georgia, west in Armenia and Turkey. If you go to any parts mentioned you will see exactly the same people that you see in Azerbaijan. We are constantly divided because of our passion to independence and not accepting injustice. But that is also why we are independent in a such a difficult and strategic region. And that is why we are shias. 6. When you say Azerbaijan is plotting against Iran you make even a bigger mistake. Because Azerbaijan, i.e. Azeris, has nothing to do with that. We have a dictator backed by Israel, Russia, US and Europe and we are fighting him. It is not as easy as it seems. They, the current governmet, do whatever they do and not the country, nor the nation. On the other side, their are incapable of doing such activities because they are merely puppets. it is probably Israel plotting something. 7. The Shia Islam is a blessing to Azerbaijanis. It is the King Ismael Khatai of Safavids, the Azerbaijani king, who converted the empire to shia Islam. Even today the stronghold of Islam in Iran are Azerbaijanis. Ayatollah Khamenei is half Azeri. Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani is Azeri, Ayatollah Lankarani is Azeri . I just mentioned you the top scholars. The leader of shias in Turkey is Azeri, Selaheddin Ozgunduz. Because Azerbaijan was under atheist rule for 70 years, we were not allowed to practice our religion, over 30,000 intellectuals were either killed, jailed or sent to Siberia in 1937. Despite that, our people protected our heritage, culture, practiced Ashura secretly and passed it to us, with their bloods. Out fitra is made of belief. And Islamic revolution is not even a decade away, Russians know us very well, that is why they are spending billions to not let this happen. Because Shia Islam is not just a religion for us, it is who we are, you would know exactly what I am talking about if you were one of us. 8. The stronghold of Islam in Azerbaijan are the villages which surround Baku. 36 villages. Villages such as Nardaran, Mashtaga never abandoned practicing Islam, even for a day, even under Soviet Union. They are so devoted, that empire as big as Russia had decided not to deal with them. And today they de facto have their own rule in their village. The government attacked them to scare them, 10 years ago, they gave martyrs but did not back up, and government had to back up and people took over municipality. You won't read it in the newspapers. It is like a Qom of Azerbaijan. 9. Right now we have around 60 mumins in Jails, about 7 of them are Scholars, 2 islamic journalists. main protests startet in 2010, and only in 4 years everything has changed, and the Israeli plot failed, and the government is scared like never before, as well as Russia, Israel, Europe etc. That's why for now they left us alone, but they are preparing to attack and we are preparing. P.S. [ Do not believe in everyting you read on facebook, google etc. When you want an information, go to source and research it in depth, so that it won't mislead you. This is just an advice if you accept it] WasSalam Aleykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh 6.
  14. AsSalam Aleykum. Well actually there was never a problem and now there is no problem between sunnis and shias, there are only couple matters that differ such as " who should rule the muslims" and " Mutah(shia) versus Misyar (sunni) type of marriage" and some other small things. One Allah, one Prophet(s), one Koran, one salat, one Hajj, one Ramadan. We love Ahlul Bayt(a.s) and sunni brothers love them. It is just a fitna called wahabism that tries to separate the ummah calling everyone kuffar, cutting throats of children. As soon as we are done with them InshaAllah, we will no longer have to call ourselves shia or sunni, but just a muslim
  15. AsSalam Aleykum If this "Holocoust" thing is taken from Zionists who use this term to terror the whole world, they will fall InshaAllah
  16. AsSalam Aleykum. I am in the same situation. The best way to solve this problem is to increase Imaan. Put Allah on a first place and everything else as complimentary to your deen. If you do so, you will notice your Imaan is going up, since you Imaan is going up you start seeing your mistakes better and improving them. The more you become closer to Allah the more responsible you become for everything else because you understand that time is precious, and since everything you do , you do for Allah, it becomes a Jihad. You study with passion, you work with passion, you live with passion, you push yourself to the limit for the sake of Allah and Allah increases the limit to let you push yourself further. It is a human nature that people are not successful in what they don't like. That's is why we have to things we don't like through the things we like. For ex If I study Economics then I do it for Allah, in the future I will help muslims and it becomes a jihad for me and this is how I start enjoying it. InshaAllah it helps WasSalam
  17. AsSalam Aleykum, I am from Azerbaijan. Iran supports Azerbaijan big time, but not officially because Azerbaijani people as was mentioned above were under Soviet rule for 70 years until we had a revolution and became independent and as a whole are not inclined towards Islamic rule. On the other side there is a constant campaign against Iran from inside and outside. Enemies do their best to separate Azeris and Iranians (which are same people by the way by all means of this word). On the other side we have a dictator, Our dictator is very close with Israel. and tries to destroy Islam. Iran is supporting people and not the regime. 70 years of atheism changed the mentality but our muslims for 70 years secretly performed rituals especially Ashura. And now, there is an Islamic revival in Azerbaijan through Ashura and it is considered already as the only real opposition to the dictator. The government wanted to ban adhan and hidjab in 2010 when they thought they destroyed Islam and just needed to finish it totally but suddenly something unbelievable happened (SubhanAllah). some Islamic scholars , masjid Imams and those true muslims rose creating an Islamic resistance and becoming a main opposition of the dictator. Suddenly most of the population supported them, and are coming back to Islam in a speed light. Last Ashura, thousands of people marked Ashura and one more time showed that Islam and the school of Ahlul Bayt cannot be defetead, neither Russia nor anyone else cannot do this. Nearly 100 brothers are in jail now, nearly 7 of them are Imams. Government backed up, but doing things undertable, muslims got stronger, we opened our own magazines, TVs etc. But there are many problems, financial, and what even more is that Russia, USA, Europe and our government do their best to not let Islam grow in the country. But it is just a matter of time now...
  18. AsSalam Even though it is a serious problem for muslims (religious ones) to find a partner these days, I think it should not be added as a thread because it will change the nature of the forum but rather create a sub category and a simple muslim matrimonial section. It will also atract more muslims to join the forum and get involved with the community.
  19. In other words, "I know nothing about Islam" . Sounds like Christianity before they totally left the religion by all means of this word. Sad ...
  20. Tell me about it. I live alone in Canada, and still even from far away, when I speak with my family on skype, invite them to improve their imaan, pray etc give them examples from Koran, hadith, they think that I am going to become mujtahid soon just because I am trying to be a muslim. 2-3 years ago my uncle, who lives in Sweden, and with whom I speak once a year at best, told my father that he suspects me being involved with an african military group lol My father was worried.I had to explain him that it is an absurd claim. Thanks God he understood.. It is sad that most muslims today are cultural muslims
  21. AsSalam Aleykum, I will point out two main issues from where you can draw a solution. Number 1: If your sister is dating someone who is far away from Islam (not even mentioning that he is a bad guy) it means that your sister is not religious at all because religious girl would not do it. (Please don't get offended, just trying to be realistic) If she is not religious then that what she gets. Koran says that such type of person deserves such type of partner, the other type the other etc. And it is logical. Number 2: Solution is to bring her back to Islam. If you do so she will automatically get rid of him herself. But how are you going to do this? We all know it is easier to say it than do. She is not religious + she is " in love" with a guy whom she trust. She doesn't have mother to consult. This is a difficul situation, don't want to lie. But I agree with what is said above. First of all CALM DOWN, do not scream, do not fight, do not get angry and in fact vice versa. Be extremely nice, smile to her, tell her that you were angry these days but it is all because you love her, tell her that you think she is mature, and you trust her decision and you will always be there for her. Hug her and say that you love her. Then give her a space since she is already in this situation. Always be positive and mature, make her feel comfortable around you, make her feel a need to talk to you, become her castle, become her guardian, parent. Create a relationship where she trusts you and relies on you. Take her out, spend time with her, make her happy. When this happens slowly, and IN A SMART WAY start preaching Islam , and salaat, and try to avoid direct talks about that guy. If you are religious as you say, slowly she will come towards you and far away from that guy. P.S. [ You mentioned you are kind of hypocrite. This is not good. You have to improve your Imaan, and be sincere with Allah. How you except to help someone when you yourself need help. And don't forget duas, and prolonged rukus and sajdas] Hope this helps, Wassalam Aleykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
  22. Salam I totally agree with dragonxx. 1. You don't ask forgivenes from anyone, whether it is Prophet (saw), or Ahlul Bayt (a.s), but Allah (swt) only, and you don't ask from anyone but Allah, the Most Merciful. * I even try to avoid "mediators" when I ask something from Allah. Not saying it is right or wrong, but I just don't have enough knowlegde yet about this matter which would satisfy me and at this point my logic does not fully accept this. I always ask directly since it is not compulsory to do otherwise anyways.
  23. Actully there is a story behind my question. I was just going over profiles on shiamatch members from Toronto (you don't need to register to view them) and that's where I saw all these moderate, slightly, balancing etc terms. And as I said, moderate by itself is not a bad word but the contect of profiles showed that the reason these terms were used by members is because they don't really want to follow as much as possible but try to limit it with salaat, fast, and jumaa. And we cannot attribute it to Salafis as well because it is a shia website
  24. AsSalam aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, I am not sure if this question was asked previously since I am new here, but here is the question: Why a lot of modern muslims use term suchs as "slightly religious," " moderately religious" etc (not as something bad but rather to what extent, in their opinion, Islam should be practiced). We have a Prophet (saw) , Ahlu Bayt (a.s) and our Imams (a.s) and they all followed the same religion, in the same manner. So are we trying to say that they were (authubillah) fanatics and we should not strive to be like them? If not then why muslims are using these terms ? Or are we just covering our lack of ibada by giving it a "moderate" name not to feel too guilty? WasSalam
  25. Before we get into fatwas, let's think logically about this issue. If somebody's husband, one day, get's into accident and looses his legs, can his wife divorce him because she is not physically attracted to him anymore, or if somebody's wife suddenly looses her eyesight, can he divorce her because she is blind? Maybe yes, maybe no. I guess fatwas for permissibility of such divorce can be easily found in the internet (I guess we can always find someone who would please our intentions disregarding everything else) but I do not really understand one thing: How a person who seeks fatwas, i.e. wants to do things the way Allah wants it, to please Allah (swt), at the same time wants to give up on his/her family member for the pleasures of this world? Isn't it a Paradox? How can a MUSLIM give up on his/her family member for something like that? What is islam then? Why do we call ourselves muslims?... Clearly we, muslims, need to reevaluate our Imaan, because something is not right here
