Muslim96 reacted to starlight in Its Ramadan and I have woken up very very thirsty and have a very bad heachache. I have a full day of work ahead of me which involves alot of physical activity and I fear that I may pass out.
Calm down. Allah isn't punishing anyone here. Your saying so implies Allah is unjust which he isn't. The person can break the fast to drink water if things are serious and there is no kaffarah, just Qadha.
    I didn't quite get your reference to 2019. Allah's laws aren't meant for 1909 or 2009 or 2019.
Another thing, religion isn't supposed to be modified to fit our lifestyles, our lifestyles should be moulded to revolve around religion.

This is confusing and contradictory.  How can someone be both a monotheist and atheist (not following any religion)??
[Edit] and given the above statement, the whole debate in the thread is flawed. Cummon, what are you peoplez arguing about, there is nothing to discuss?

Muslim96 reacted to Mahdavist in Can Ramadan be 28 days?
Its a scientific issue rather than a religious one. Religion tells us that the new month is established upon sighting of the new moon. Science tells us that a new moon cannot be sighted twice within 28 days. Not sure what kind of source they are looking for, perhaps they should google 'lunar cycle'

    Walaikum salam
The Islamic months are based on the lunar cycle and are therefore either 29 or 30 days in length.
This is agreed by all schools of thought.

Wow, you good looking, rich man, you deserve so much better. I am speechless.
Fear Allah swt. and get closer to Allah swt. Love is not about shape and replacing your wife as soon as she is not attractive for you anymore. Sad, very sad.. I am sorry for your wife.
May Allah swt. guide us all to the right path..

Muslim96 reacted to MartyS in Eid al Adha
We Christians, along with Muslims and Jews, believe in the Adha event when God redeemed the son of Abraham. What a joyful celebration that must be... commemorating when God gave a substitutional sacrifice for mankind. We see this as a paradigm of the perfect and final sacrifice God would provide for the sins of the world, sending His Son Jesus, God born as a man, spotless and sinless, to die in our place, so that we who put our trust in Him, may have eternal life.

You guys think you can understand Quran, it's zahiri and batini meanings, interpretations. Not every verse can be taken at it's face value. Therefore we have infallibles to interpret the verse and let us know what exactly the most exalted wants to say.
And yes, Eid e Ghadeer is mentioned in the Quran but you cannot perceive it.

    Okay..
... except for some internet mujtahids and a shia families in Germany.
Still that doesn't reduce merits of this eid one bit.

I think this is fortunately one of the few things where Sunni and Shia have no differences. I just noticed that the Sunnis see it as more important. To give you an example, my iranian neighbors never miss the Eid al Fitr prayers and always visit us on thag day but never did so on Eid ul Adha. They did not even congratulate us on last Eid ul Adha. And they are not the only ones where I saw that.
But nice to hear that your family is not like that.

I guess my handle gives away which side of the vote I am on! Also done a couple of Umras since via side trips to business tours of Saudi.
Doing it younger is better IMHO. It's easier the more physically fit you are. I also know some people who are reasonably well off, who just 'never got round to it'.
OTOH when you are there you get to see people with obviously modest circumstances doing it.

I wouldn’t say polygamy is recommended generally, just that it was recommended in those situations that they did marry more than one. The Prophet didn’t marry anyone else while he was with khadija. And imam ali didn’t  marry anyone else while he was with Fatimah.

Marriage is wajib under certain circumstances.

Most basic principle of hadith science is to throw out hadith that contradicts the Quran. There is a hadith from Imam Al-Sadiq that says something along the lines of: If you hear a hadith that has my name attached to it and it goes against the Quran then throw away the hadith. I am not well versed in hadith reference, but iA I will find it.
So my point is, the Quran gives us concrete evidence of a superiority of the night of Qadr. Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى does not mention any other night anywhere near to such fazilat. We can't bring in hadith to support the superiority of another night. Because the other night would be contradicting the Quran. Yes, Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى did not use the word "best", but we can imply from his words that it is truly the best night as he did not mention any other night to such status.
Let me give you another example that might hit home better. The Quran calls the prophets of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى the chosen ones of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى. Now a Sunni brings in a narration stating that Umar ibn Khattab is better than Musa (as). We as shias would open up the Quran to dismantle that hadith as the Quran takes superiority over hadith.

okay mr. black and white. Its not that simple. Theres alot of elements in it. If you think Imam Mahdi will not clean things up with the Shia too then you are on drugs. You think he will keep the barbaric ashura rituals? Or you of the thought that he will partake in them lol--because I have heard that too.

As I'm not a scholar I can only refer to what our scholars say on this issue. You have to ask them.
For me personally they are all Eids. I have never put them in a hierarchy or thought about this before. I don't feel that this is a crucial matter. Just celebrating and being happy works fine.

I am sorry, but to me that is flat out fabrication. Basic in hadith science is: if it contradicts the Quran then throw it out.

jokes aside, I dont think we can just create eids and call it the greatest day when Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى hasnt said a word about it, thats all. He mentions Laylatul Qadr as the greatest nights. I am pretty sure he would've made it a point to mention Ghadeer as the greatest day. Instead he just left it jummuah for the best day.
Also, I know most of you guys hate me on here, but I promise I'm not a troll that most think I am.

Muslim96 reacted to Urwatul Wuthqa in Eid al Adha
Lets see what is Eid ul Adha:
"Eid al-Adha (Arabic: عيد الأضحى‎, translit. ʿīd al-ʾaḍḥā, lit. 'Feast of the Sacrifice', [ʕiːd ælˈʔɑdˤħæː]), also called the "Festival of Sacrifice", is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year (the other being Eid al-Fitr), and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. Before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead. In commemoration of this, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts: one third of the share is given to the poor and needy; another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors; and the remaining third is retained by the family."
Look at the highlighted/underline part, how many have learned to sacrifice all which has been mentioned as "zeenat" of this worldly life?
It seems to me that majority of Muslims have learned just one lesson from this great event i.e., sacrifice a lamb and put it into the deep freezer.
