  1. Sunni Islam - Hadiths based on Muhammad Shia Islam - Hadiths based on Muhammad and Imams Please help me out and correct me. Thank you.
  2. Thanks a ton that is definitely useful. I am still looking for any direct citations from primary sources, if possible.
  3. Unfortunately, I cannot read Arabic. Could anyone please translate the above for me? I understand that sometimes translations take away from the true meaning, however I just need a rough translation.
  4. Hello, Can any Shias or Sunnis cite quotes from their hadiths that pertain to how you are supposed to pray? I am talking about things such as prostrating on a sajdiga (forgive my spelling), crossing the of the arms, etc. I need sources for a school project, but I am not familiar with reading hadiths. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  5. Can anyone link me Shia hadiths that state how prayers should be conducted? Sadly I am limited by the fact that I can only read in English, and I am having a hard time locating them in English. Thanks in advance.
  6. Can anyone link me, or cite, any Shia hadiths that explain how the prophet prayed? Or just Shia prayer in general. I have found Sunni ones in English but I am having a hard time locating Shia hadiths. I am assuming people on this forum are far more knowledgeable than I am regarding Shia hadiths. Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks a lot everyone, I will surely come back and share my paper in the future.
  8. Hello, I am writing an essay on the differences between Shia and Sunni prayer procedures. I am aware of the differences such as the crossing of the hands, prostrating on the ground vs. a clay tablet etc. What I am after is WHY these differences arose? Who started these traditions? Are there any books where I can find out more about WHY these differences arose rather than WHAT they are? It seems like its very hard to get an answer for this question as I have asked it in multiple different forums and I only get answers for WHAT the differences are rather than WHY they arose. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
  9. Hi, thanks for the response. I am aware of the differences, but I cannot find WHY these differences arose. Why do some Muslims pray with their hands by their sides while others pray with their hands crossed? Who started these traditions, is what I am after.
  10. Hello, I am conducting research on the differences between how Shia and Sunni Muslims conduct their prayers. I am curious as to WHY these differences arose, and if possible please link your source (as I need to cite them). Also, if anyone would be willing to partake in an interview through email, either Shia or Sunni, it would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards
