    Salam Alaykum,
I am not sure if this topic is in the right section, if not please feel free to move it where it belongs.
There is something I been thinking about a lot lately. I personally battling it myself. We have marja, laws, what we consider halal or haram, and sometimes the laws have changed or is interpret base on the marja we follow.
We are so concern with what is haram and what is halal that we lost our own sense of humanity. We lost our sense or morals, and what is consider us human. We act like robots, we don't question things anymore. Maybe some of us are afraid to question things because we may feel guilty or be in doubt in what we believe in.  Maybe we are so scared about the punishment we punished ourselves with. The punishment I'm talking about is the negative self talk we give ourselves when we do something wrong.
In my community I see two types of people: extremist and the very westernize people (each to their own), but I feel like we have build a community of robots. No one seem to questions their morals anymore. No one seem to question the information or the source that is brought to us. We act without question. We act without thinking.

Talk to him about Islam, and marriage, and if you want to get married, nudge him to look into Islam and gently tell him to convert.
Have you talked about marriage recently with him?

LadyNadine reacted to Maria Shah in Been in haram relationship for five years behind families back but in love
I have been in a haram relationship for five years now, all behind my families back. The guy is non Muslim but we have been through everything together. He’s done a lot for me and same with me for him. There’s no doubt about my love for him and his love for me people have constantly commented on how much passion we have for each other (friends), I tried splitting up with him a couple of times to get back on track but we always find a way back to each other whether it’s months later or whatever. I feel so much peace with him that I can’t get anywhere else. I have had a very tough family life, mum and dad split when I wasn’t younger and he used to abuse her. My younger brother passed away 2 years ago to a car accident at 16 years so it has been very tough and he is a sense of escapism from all that. I have considered just running away from my family changing my number and everything and staying with him and leaving them a note about what’s being going on. I just see my future with him we’ve made so many plans and I have been awful to him but he’s always been there no matter what. We have slept together as well and planned on getting engaged in summer before I split up with him out of fear. He thinks my family know about us but they don’t. I just don’t want a future unless it’s with him and I don’t know what to do. Please can I get some advice and no negative comments please as I am already fighting a battle in my head and genuinely really am seeking for help, as everyday I just want to run away from home.

LadyNadine reacted to Sumerian in Discussing private matters
So the other day me and a couple others were around someone who recently got married (he is like 4 yrs older than me) and he was telling everyone go get married and giving advice... but then he started to detail his "experiences" with his wife in a very graphic way which made me a little weirded out. I told him bro stop talking like that about your own wife, but he said this is educational bla bla bla
Anyway long story short, this isn't the first time I see Muslim guys talking like this. They share inappropriate jokes all the time. Imo it is never okay to share private matters except to.. maybe a doctor for health reasons? Even then its still weird a bit. Do you guys share my disgust? I don't think private matters should be talked about.

    Bismehe Ta3ala,
Wa Alikum Assalam Wa Rahamah dear Sister Nadine
Insh'Allah you are well and in good health.
It is brave of you to ask these questions, and Alhamd'Allah you came forward and brought this out to the forums.  Many people hold back their feelings, so they are not ostracized or criticized for their "lack of beliefs."  I loved how you quoted Imam 3li 3la salam at the end.  It shows that you love his leadership and wisdom.   I want to share this hadith with you about Imam Jafar as Sadiq 3la salam

34– Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Certainly faith is ten levels, like the rungs of a ladder, where each rung is climbed one after the other. The one on the second rung cannot say to the one on the first: ‘You are nothing’ until he completes the ten. Therefore do not knock the one below you down, lest the one above you knocks you down. And when you see one below you in rank, lift him up to your level with gentleness. And do not burden him with that which he cannot bear lest you break him, for verily one who breaks a believer must put him back together again.’ [al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 45, no. 2]

Human beings are inquisitive and want to know why things are done a certain way.  Allah swt in His ultimate wisdom knows what He created and what is best for His creation.  Ultimately, Allah swt wants us to submit.  But this is not easy, it takes a lot of self discipline, jihad al nafas, we go through multiple facets of the Nafas.
    Nafas al Amara
    Nafas al Lawama
    Nafas al Mutm2ina
I won't copy/paste the meaning here, if you want to read about it please click on the link below.
    http://www.zaynabacademy.org/understanding-the-three-types-of-nafs/
If you have questions about a certain worship or why something is prohibited or permissible, you have the right to ask and there might be wisdom behind it but for the most part Allah swt wants His creation to reach proximity to Him by obeying and submitting.  This isn't done overnight.  It needs discipline, du32, and doing wajabat and avoiding haram.  So as you have said before sister, back to the basics.
God bless you sister and protect you from all harm.

Salam sister! I must admit I probably don't have the strongest eating habits, and I need to work on eating more fruits and vegetables and less chips, chocolates, and candies. I heard that our diet may play a role in ourselves overall, but have disregarded it (when I shouldn't) and also forget that our brain can play a role in how we sleep, as well as anxiety. I think I need to take more diet more seriously than I am now.
Thanks so much for the link. And thanks so much for the prayers and warm wishes it means a lot.

    Salam!
I will pray for you sister, but I have something to suggest to you. There is a huge linked now between our Gut and our brain. They are saying, if you have poor eating choices, sensitivity to certain foods, Gluten allergies, Lactose allergies, irregular bowel, irregular behavior, weight gained, weight loss, headaches, lack of sleep, metal illness and more is because of what we our putting in our bodies and how our body is reacting to it. We are not getting enough (or at all) probiotics (Good bacteria) to balance the body out.
This is not a tready thing! There so many studies that our stomach and our brains are linked. They are saying our stomach is our second brain.

Inshallah kerim. I wish you the best of luck!
