  1. My Prayers
Pearl178 got a reaction from Abu Nur in Anyone read this? 'How to pray a good prayer'
I have been wanting to read a book or listen to a lecture for a while now on improving my daily prayer and its been on my mind but end up forgetting to research. Btw (side topic), i have noticed A LOT that whenever a thought crosses my mind regarding religion (for example, how to do something or just generally wonder about something), after a few days or so God sends someone or something my way regarding that "thing." Guess this is one of those times

Yes. He is basically saying what every other marjaa has said before. This is the principle that anything that becomes a conduit or channel for haram activities to come into your life becomes haram itself. For example, if you find yourself drifting toward any media you are getting thru a particular source, and that media has haram content, then this source also becomes haram. The game platform Steam could be haram for some people, not for others. Twitch could be haram for some, not for others, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. If the platform contains halal content and haram content (like Netflix), then it is halal or haram for the person depending on which type of media the person is watching. The fatwa doesn't have to do with Netflix specifically.
BTW, I thank the OP for making this thread and I think these types of threads are good to alert brothers and sisters to some of the filth and garbage that is on Netflix so they can avoid it. This is a practical form of Amr Bil Maroof wa Nahiya Al Munkhar (enjoining good and forbidding evil).

@Abu Hadi So both fatwa's that we received are pretty much the same (that it is halal to subscribe as long as it is used for permissible/halal use and it only becomes haram to subscribe to it if a person cannot stop himself or his family from watching haram content). The fatwa I have is dated 22 Muharram 1442 (10th September 2020).

I have the fatwa in Arabic but I’m not able to upload it for some reason. Anyways, since most Shiachatters are non-Arabic speakers I will translate the fatwa word for word:

“If this network is not specialized in publishing forbidden movies, series, and programs, then it is not prohibited to subscribe to this network for the permissible use of the network. If however an individual is not able to stop himself (ie gives in to temptation)  from using the network to watch Haram content or is not able to stop his family from haram use of the network, then it would be prohibited for this individual to subscribe to the network. Allah knows”

Same here sis. But I’m thinking that’s mostly attributable to the way most humans are (shallow vain careless about akhira and generally uninteresting and materialistic). Well that’s my case anyways. The problem is Islam does not encourage being a recluse and Islam encourages rather that we surround ourselves with those types of people so that we can perhaps be tested on how much we can tolerate them and set a good example ... perhaps our level of tolerance is being tested too when we are around people we are uncomfortable with ...

The best lesson i've learnt (especially recently) is not to get too attached to people because they will end up disappointing you one way or another. Basically, never make homes out of human beings, even your own spouse. Love them enough but not to the point that if they end up hurting you it will destroy you.

Pearl178 got a reaction from Traveller14 in dating with intention to marry
    Dear sis,
I am sorry for raining on your parade, and I am sure the brother you are currently thinking of marrying is a good person, but does being a good person suffice for the purposes of establishing a family with the brother in question? What about the fact that there is a big chance that the kids are not gonna end up being Shia since children normally follow the fathers path?
I hope you have thought well and hard about this before coming to a decision. Personally speaking, I have had a few proposals from Ibadi/Sunni guys…like REALLY good potentials and it was so hard for me to reject but I absolutely had to because while it all looked good for the first few years, I knew regret will creep in at some point down the line when the kids end up on the other path. Also, keep in mind that most of them say they are 'okay' with the kids turning out Shia, and that they will not interfere, and maybe they are being sincere, but what about when the kids see their father practising something else? Isn't that going to confuse them? When he goes for Taraweeh and says he wants to take the son with him, won't that bother you? (poor example but you get my point). I hope you have thought about all these issues!
Anyhow, I wish you all the best

When u make an agreement with someone to sell or purchase a product or provide a service and that agreement has certain conditions, you should fulfill all the conditions. If you do this, you will gain a reputation as an honest business person and aa a result your business will grow because more people will want to do business with you
