  1. I have been wanting to read a book or listen to a lecture for a while now on improving my daily prayer and its been on my mind but end up forgetting to research. Btw (side topic), i have noticed A LOT that whenever a thought crosses my mind regarding religion (for example, how to do something or just generally wonder about something), after a few days or so God sends someone or something my way regarding that "thing." Guess this is one of those times
  2. @Abu Hadi So both fatwa's that we received are pretty much the same (that it is halal to subscribe as long as it is used for permissible/halal use and it only becomes haram to subscribe to it if a person cannot stop himself or his family from watching haram content). The fatwa I have is dated 22 Muharram 1442 (10th September 2020).
  3. I have the fatwa in Arabic but I’m not able to upload it for some reason. Anyways, since most Shiachatters are non-Arabic speakers I will translate the fatwa word for word: “If this network is not specialized in publishing forbidden movies, series, and programs, then it is not prohibited to subscribe to this network for the permissible use of the network. If however an individual is not able to stop himself (ie gives in to temptation) from using the network to watch Haram content or is not able to stop his family from haram use of the network, then it would be prohibited for this individu
  4. Same here sis. But I’m thinking that’s mostly attributable to the way most humans are (shallow vain careless about akhira and generally uninteresting and materialistic). Well that’s my case anyways. The problem is Islam does not encourage being a recluse and Islam encourages rather that we surround ourselves with those types of people so that we can perhaps be tested on how much we can tolerate them and set a good example ... perhaps our level of tolerance is being tested too when we are around people we are uncomfortable with ...
  5. But why do business with them ?
  6. I would highly recommend listening to Khalil Jaffers lecture series titled “The end of negative suffering” and another titled “Freeing the butterfly within.” It’s not podcast you have to YouTube them. Both series are literally life-changers
  7. Salam. Very beautifully written MashaAllah Regarding the last point “fulfilling the terms of your business agreements,” can you please shed some light on this?
  8. Salam sis @starlight yes we are all fine alhamdulilah the cyclone was moving towards the coastal area far from where I live. Just praying for all those affected by it though. Hope you are well sis
  9. But why would your friend come and tell you what the other guy said? How do you even know that this guy isn’t just trying to cause a stir? He’s creating fitna which is worse. I don’t get when people do that.
  10. I wear loose clothing, hijab with hands, face and feet showing (I don’t really know if covering feet is wajib). My clothes tend to be a little colorful but not too flashy. A bit of makeup is a must though I know it’s against the rules...as for social hijab, I try my level best to limit conversations with non-mahram at work but it can be challenging at times when you spend most of the day in the office.
  11. I hope I can finish the Quran this Ramadhan. I never end up finishing it but hopefully this year will be different.
  12. My mom had a child in her 40’s. Ironically this youngest sibling of mine turned out to be more intelligent and wiser than her 4 oldest siblings (and yes that includes me too).
  13. Nothing wrong with it at all and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. My brother married our second cousin 4 years ago, it was completely arranged we knew nothing about her. Alhamdulilah they are perfect for each other , a match made in heaven. And she is also an amazing sister-in-Law I couldn’t have asked for a better sis in law. So yeah, if she is a good person then by all means don’t let something trivial as this stop you from going forward.
  14. An epic speech by Simon Sinek on leadership: https://streamable.com/0y45u
  15. Do you pray the full thing 11 raka’at ir just the 3 (shafi3 and and witr)?
  16. @starlight missed you too sister, hope you are well.
  17. They would never get it from seeing their parent divorce a couple of times either. A broken home is 10000 worse for the kids if kids is what you are worried about.
  18. Unfortunately atheism is becoming a trend amongst shias in my country. It's mainly because most of the youth nowadays can't be bothered to put up with the obligations (or burdens as they would put it ) of religion. It's either that or that they claim to be muslim but commit every kind of haram. I treat them with respect like any human.
  19. Question is: how should these finite resources be distributed to ensure everyone has their faire share?
  20. 11 days for the whole year? Working or calendar?
  21. OP: this may sound like emotional blackmail but it is worth a shot. The next time you're parents do something like this, just bring your daughter into the picture. I'm sure they must love their granddaughter, right? Just guilt trip them into making them feel that whenever there is friction in the family, this severely affects their granddaughter and that they would be indirectly to blame.
