  1. (salam) It was right.. because it was rightfully the property of the Ahlul Bayt(as).. Hadrat Ali(as) didn't take it when he was in power because he didn't want the people to think that he is taking advantage of the position he was in by acquiring wealth for himself... wassalaamun alaikum
  2. (salam) 1462. The Imam of the congregational prayers should be: * Adult (Baligh) * Sane * Ithna 'Ashari Shi'ah * 'Adil * Of legitimate birth * Being able to offer the prayers correctly Furthermore, if the follower is a male, the Imam also should be a male. To follow a boy of ten years of age is a matter of Ishkal. This is from sistani.org... wassalaamun alaikum
  3. (salam) Think you are looking for this.. Abdullah ibn Saba Wassalaamun alaikum
  4. (salam) They guide the Ummah during the occultation of the Imam(as).. they are only RELIGIOUS 'councellors/leaders'. To transmit the tradition of the Prophet(saww) without making any mistakes so that the maraje3 can use it to issue fatwas... the Imams(as) hold both political and religious power over the ummah... wassalaamun alaikum
  5. Wa 3alaikum assalaam It certainly doesn't... but this does.. 009.101 YUSUFALI: Certain of the desert Arabs round about you are hypocrites, as well as (desert Arabs) among the Medina folk: they are obstinate in hypocrisy: thou knowest them not: We know them: twice shall We punish them: and in addition shall they be sent to a grievous penalty. Seems to me if the 'sakina' didn't land on Abu bakr.. then he wasn't a favourite of Allah(swt). For some reason.. Allah(swt) kept the identity of the hypocrites mentioned in the iyah from the Prophet(saww)... therefore.. the Prophet(saww) saying that 'Al
  6. (salam) brother Ismailite The Quran teaches us... '3atiullaha wa 3atiuurasuul wa ulul amr-e-min kum'.. 'Obey Allah and obey the Prophet(saww) and those in authority amoung you' How do you obey the Prophet(saww) if you don't do what he said you have to do?.. The Prophet(saww) comes right after Allah(swt).. none in the world can go above what the Prophet(saww) taught us. It is my understanding that you follow the Quran in the mannar that you pray cuz I heard the argument about 'neglecting the prayer because its not mentioned in the Quran' from an Ismaili.. Is there any way you can tell us how
  7. Wa 3laikum Assalaam Thats my finding... bro Efendi also came up with the same name if you check his post.. if you say something otherwise.. do provide proof for it.. it would be interesting to know and may help us solve this contradiction... wassalaamun alaikum
  8. (salam) Hadrat Ibraheem(as)'s father's name was Terah bin Nahor(as). Its also said (in non-islamic books) that Hadrat Ibrahim(as)'s mother married twice and the other man ALREADY had a daughter.. which was Hadrat Sarah(as).. Reminder: Hadrat Ibrahim(as) once called Bibi Sarah(as) his sister... point is.. Azar doesn't necessarily have to be his biological father.. he can be his step father too.. wassalaamun alaikum
  9. (salam) If the two calips were higher than Hadrat Ali(as).. why did they need his advice??.. plus.. six months is a long time for not giving allegiance to someone who you think is higher than you... wassalaamun alaikum
  10. (salam) These are TITLES of chapters in Al-Kafi.. if you read the ahadith mentioned in them.. you will understand more clearly what the titles are suggesting.. Using the second and the third point as examples.. here is something you can look at Chapter 47 of Al-Kafi Pay particular attention to ahadith number 4 and 8... wassalaamun alaikum
  11. Wa 3laikum Assalaam Shouldn't it be Umar and then Abu Bakr??.. I read somewhere in the Bukhari that Allah(swt) supported Umar's decisions more than Abu Bakr's... wassalaamun alaikum
  12. (salam) Brother Student.. would you please point out the places where al-islam.org 'distortes' the truth.. I would greatly appreciate that :). I am also a student just like you in the search for truth.. if its not too much trouble.. would you care to share the major idea that made you leave shi'ism... I would have asked you to PM me with this if you feel that you don't want people scrutinizing it.. but PMing is not that much fun :)... wassalaamun alaikum
  13. (salam) If people claim to be shi3a.. then we should accept it.. we are not like the wahabis who label us as kafirs when we call ourselves muslims :)... wassalaamun alaikum
  14. (salam) Brother Taha.. a person have to be a buddist to ignore the Prophet(saww) and go secure his seat in the elections... and Hadrat Ali(as) did not accept the caliphate for like 6 months (according to sunni saheehs)... the method of election was inappropriate And Khutba Shikshikiyya??.. when you want to understand what a person is saying.. you have to look at ALL (of what is left) of his/her writings/sayings... not just one sentence :) Therefore, people must be persuasive in making others accept the imam who has been decided upon by the shura of the muhajireen and the ansar. If not Proph
  15. (salam) Haha.. you know too much :) JazaakAllah sister wilayah So the translation of Al-islam isn't misleading afterall.. wassalaamun alaikum
  16. (salam) And also indicate if its mentions that it was 'the right of muhajirs and ansaars' to choose... wassalaamun alaikum
  17. Wa 3laikum Assalaam Please see the Khutba of Shiqshiqiyya (sermon 3) of Nahjul Balagha where Hadrat Ali(as) ridiculed the decision to have the three caliphs come to power instead of him. This means that if muawiyah didn't oppose them (for being appointed by some leaders)... he shouldn't oppose Hadrat Ali(as)... it doesn't mean that Hadrat Ali(as) accepted the caliphate of the first three. Isn't this a good thing that Hadrat Ali(as) wasn't present where the people were fighting over leadership and WAS PRESENT where the dead body of the Prophet(saww) was lying... Hadrat Ali(as) had a very dif
  18. (salam) @ akidulhassanali Goto Chapter 8 http://www.al-islam.org/encyclopedia/ Wassalaamun alaikum
  19. (salam) He tried to justify the caliphate... what do you expect.. plus.. he is one of the more mature ones :) JazaakAllah This I wanna know... where is 'democracy' discussed in the Quran? Is the 'correct' translation also present in the article above? Majority should be kept in check.. thats why you have a leader... a divinely appointed one.. its like a prophet.. 'the majority' can't choose a prophet.. just like the majority can't choose someone as a leader who will lead through the path that is acceptable by AllahÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì Can you please translate this walye faqih... cuz the way I
  20. (salam) According to my understanding... he is ONLY a religious figure... wassalaamun alaikum
  21. (salam) Just clarifying something here.. President Mahmuud or Ayatullah Khamenai doesn't have the same power as an imam or the four caliphs INDIVIDUALLY... one only holds political power... religious issues are addressed to the maraje3 (the hujja of the last Imam[as])... wassalaamun alaikum
  22. (salam) This is amazing.. never thought of it that way.. JazaakAllah brother inshaAllah. Brother Taha... about the knowledge.. do you think a wise believer have a higher level of eemaan or an illiterate believer??... I am just giving you two extremes but I think the level of eemaan is judged by a person's knowledge.. plus.. isn't there taqwa as well.. fear of Allah(swt) comes with the knowledge of what Allah(swt) want us to refrain from and what Allah(swt) is going to punish for.. KNOWING the Quran... KNOWING the ahadith... these are what elevates eemaan of a person... wassalaamun alaikum
  23. (salam) Hmm... okay... I thought the names in the brackets were in the hadith.. guess it was your doing eh brother taha :)... sorry brother inshaAllah.. got confused. Let me ask brother taha... can you accept that emaan is devoid of knowledge??.. do you not increase your emaan if you have a higher knowledge??... where is it that emaan really comes from??... if its not knowing.. then what is it??... just looking for some clarification... wassalaamun alaikum
  24. (salam) I think you mean that Hadrat Ibrahim(as) was an imam for everyone in HIS TIME... if you do mean that.. then Hadrat Lut(as)'s ummah would have two imams since he was present during the time of Hadrat Ibrahim(as)... two imams of an ummah.. do you see the controversy here? Brother InshaAllah.. if Ayatullah Khui said that that hadith is authentic.. then it doesn't matter who it is coming THROUGH... what matters is that its coming from an infallible... like your research though :)... wassalaamun alaikum
