  1. If you were talking about the frowing ayah.. Zulfiqar posted a reply for that SM4L.. I can also phrase that bolded part as.. Whats ill about making a list of faults of ones parents and posting it online?.. and what ill is there for me to use it and say publicly that these parents are not the 'ideal parents'?.. Whats wrong with someone denying things to their parents when they are lying on their deathbed.. and saying that they have 'lost it'?.. can you really say that the person who does this to his parents have committed a 'mistake'?.. I hope I am not disrespecting you.. cuz like the way you conduct your dialogues :D.. wassalaamun alaikum
  2. ^I know eh.. tell me about it :S Oh.. its not me.. its Allah(swt) who critisizes some of these 'mothers of believers'.. so its possible to critisize THOSE 'mothers of believer' if they do wrong.. but Allah(swt) never critisized the Prophet(saww).. so why did people point out the 'faults' in him?.. wassalaamun alaikum
  3. (salam) So.. I was thinking (which I don't do often).. that would I EVER publicise imperfections in the character of my parents.. and I came to the conclusion that no matter what I think of what my parents do... I can never publicise my parent's mistakes.. I just can't.. that would just show my parents in a bad light.. now.. would any of you like to make a list of things that you think is wrong with your parent's personality and POST IT on this board?.. or any other public board?.. think about this for a second.. (thats it.. stop thinking :D).. if yes.. I mean you can make a list like this and post it online.. then I can't relate to your experience.. but if you can't make a list like that.. you are kinda like me.. now.. if you are in the second catagory.. explain to me the character of people who publicly narrated the 'imperfections' of the Prophet(saww) since all of us can agree that the Prophet(saww) deserves greater respect and love from us than our parents.. wassalaamun alaikum
  4. BANG ON.. nicely put Abbas.. honestly.. it must boil the blood of those muslim families who lost loved ones in the battle of Jamal True.. like instead of saying 'mother of believers' to indicate respect.. there should be something like... 002.104 YUSUFALI: O ye of Faith! Say not (to the Messenger) words of ambiguous import, but words of respect; and hearken (to him): To those without Faith is a grievous punishment. .. something like that... but for the wives.. but.. THERE ISN'T ANYTHING LIKE THIS FOR THE WIVES :S... wassalaamun alaikum
  5. My point.. my little brother.. is that if respect was what this title of 'mother of believers' indicated.. then the Prophet(saww) would have gotten a similar title.. but he didn't.. even though he deserves the greatest respect :D.. therefore.. the title.. 'mother of believers'.. doesn't mean compulsory respect.. it means something else :D.. wassalaamun alaikum
  6. Ofcourse Aashiq.. I agree with that.. but if you give the title of a 'mother' to someone.. not metaphorically... but rather without choice.. then respect is compulsory.. and by not calling the Prophet(saww) 'Father of the believers'.. he is not getting similar respect.. moreover.. there is a chance that he could be disrespected by a muslim and this muslim can escape punishment... wassalaamun alaikum
  7. Volume 8, Book 82, Number 817: Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: ...And no doubt after the death of the Prophet we were informed that the Ansar disagreed with US and gathered in the shed of Bani Sa'da. 'Ali and Zubair and whoever was with them, opposed us, while the emigrants gathered with Abu Bakr. I said to Abu Bakr, 'Let's go to these Ansari brothers of ours.' So we set out seeking them, and when we approached them, two pious men of theirs met us and informed us of the final decision of the Ansar, and said, 'O group of Muhajirin (emigrants) ! Where are you going?' We replied, 'We are going to these Ansari brothers of ours.' They said to us, 'You shouldn't go near them. Carry out whatever we have already decided.' I said, 'By Allah, we will go to them.' And so we proceeded until we reached them at the shed of Bani Sa'da. Behold! There was a man sitting amongst them and wrapped in something. I asked, 'Who is that man?' They said, 'He is Sa'd bin 'Ubada.' I asked, 'What is wrong with him?' They said, 'He is sick.' After we sat for a while, the Ansar's speaker said, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,' and praising Allah as He deserved, he added, 'To proceed, we are Allah's Ansar (helpers) and the majority of the Muslim army, while you, the emigrants, are a small group and some people among you came with the intention of preventing us from practicing this matter (of caliphate) and depriving us of it.' After a pause [Abu Bakr] said, 'O Ansar! You deserve all (the qualities that you have attributed to yourselves, but this question (of Caliphate) is only for the Quraish as they are the best of the Arabs as regards descent and home, ... As for the Ahlul Bait(as).. you may recall a certain event where Ansars and Muhajirs were fighting over which group Salmaan Farsi(ra) belongs to.. the Prophet(saww) said 'Salmaan belongs to neither.. he belongs to the Ahlul Bait'. Seems to me that the distinction was quite clear :D.. wassalaamun alaikum
  8. During the time of the Prophet(saww) there were three groups of muslims... the Muhajirs.. the Ansaars and the Ahlul Bait(as).. even though they had different titles.. they were all muslims.. and the Prophet(saww) tried his best to keep them all united... wassalaamun alaikum
  9. So why isn't the Prophet(saww) called the "Father of the believers"?.. Does he not deserve respect as well?.. wassalaamun alaikum
  10. Oh yea.. I knew that Yousif.. I was posing this question to sunnis on the board :D.. wassalaamun alaikum
  11. (salam) I was thinking.. if Prophet(saww)'s wives are mother of believers.. why isn't the Prophet(saww) himself the 'Father of believers'?.. I heard once by a sunni bro that the title 'mother of believers' was given to indicate that the personality bearing this title deserves obligatory respect.. so why was the Prophet(saww) devoid of such respect?.. wassalaamun alaikum
  12. Salaamun Alaikum I recently found this video on google called "The truth about Wahhabies" and the site which posted this is a sunni website.. its called aicp or something like that.. can someone give some details about who the person is? Link: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=4390543243580274460 Wassalaamun Alaikum
  13. Right.. but I was pointing out the flaw in the logic that since Hadrat Ali(as) didn't curse someone, we shouldn't do it as well :).. there are other factors involved when commenting on this issue.. (try praying for the ppl of taif like the Prophet[saww] did).. as for Aisha.. she could have done better :S Affiliation has nothing to do with me liking or disliking a character.. I like Abdullah bin AbuBakr and the son of Yazid because they were good people and I don't like Aisha because she inflicted misery upon the Prophet(saww) and the Ahlul Bait(as).. wassalaamun alaikum :)
  14. Imam Ali(as) didn't curse ibn muljim(la) either.. wassalaamun alaikum
  15. Really deathpasser?.. corpse eaters eh.. heheh.. how in the world can you believe him? :) Plus sahih muslim has more authority than Imam Malik's book.. thats the concensus Okay.. the Ahlul Bayt(as) were held up.. why didn't these ppl consult the Quran to decide upon a caliph?.. wassalaamun alaikum
  16. Salaamun Alaikum I came upon this hadith a while ago but I didn't realize its true potential until i'd been through a couple of lectures.. the hadith is like so.. Sahih Muslim (031.5920) "....One day Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah, extolled Him and delivered the sermon and. exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I, in response to Allah's call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of Allah and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family...." So.. Where do the ashaab fit in these two categories of guidance? What were the 'duties' that the Prophet(saww) was refering to at the end? Lastly.. why is it that neither the Quran nor the household of the Prophet(saww) was consulted when the issue of caliphate was raised? Sincere and to-the-point answers please :) Assalaam Alaikum
  17. (salam) Great GREAT event hamdulillah.. TMA ROCKS :D
  18. If your wife starts to notice other men.. its time to get a make over :!!!: :Hijabi:
  19. Ask them if Prophet(saww) didn't appoint a leader.. and if Allah(swt) didn't command the muslims to appoint a leader.. then why did the people appoint a leader?

  21. Yup.. Eid Mubarak to you too Ali Don't the sunnies believe that this verse was revealed at the very begining of Islam.. I think I should look up some sunni commentry.. or NOT... hopefully someone else can shed more light :).. wassalaamun alaikum
  22. (salam) I would say they were each part of THE FOURTEEN :D.. wassalaamun alaikum
  23. Its true bro Ali.. but not all that a sunni aalim say is followed by sunnis.. so its better not to generalize.. there are vast differences of opinions in different schools of thought :) I would very much like to see what led this aalim to believe that denying the first three is an act of kufr.. wassalaamun alaikum
  24. THAT.. we knew about you :P.. dangerous :D Best thing to do is to look at them and snicker and they would think that they have something on their face ;)
  25. OHH.. that was YOU???... I knew I would find you somewhere.. AND IT STILL HURTS :(.. heheh I was famous for buttoning my collar.. I don't do it anymore but ppl still remind me of it
