  1. (salam) I'm not sure if anyone agrees, but FEAR can also help. I know you might say that according to a hadith of imam Ali (as), which he (as) states that one who worships Allah (SWT) because of fear of the hell fire, is a good muslim, but not as virtuous as someone who worships God, because of how God deserves to be worshipped. What I was trying to say, is that sometimes, especially me, when I accidently touch boiling hot water or when I keep my hand close to fire, I automatically think that if I can't handle the fire or the level of heat which exists in this world, then how am I gonna be able to handle the heat of hell fire which is said to be 70 times hotter than the fire of earth, if God forbid, I end up going there. Just to think that the fire of hell is 70 times hotter, is mind boggling. Well, you could try to remember that, if all else doesn't work all the time.
  2. (salam) I think Kandahar also have Shia. They actually speak dari/farsi, but they're ethnicity is pashtun if I'm not wrong.
  3. (salam) Yup, this is what happens when you don't take your religion from the Ahlul bait (as). This alone proves that sunnism is the wrong way. The image of prophet Muhammad (pbuh) which is portrayed today in the western world, is all because of sunni sources which insults and falsely accuses our prophet (pbuh) and the sunnis are proud of it too. What a shame.
  4. (salam) Don't listen to those people who say "your not mature enough for marriage" or "it's too early, you need to get your bachelors and masters degree and have worked in a stayable job for some time and be financially stable too", cause that is some BS. I think a guy at age 20 is ready mentally and physically for marriage. In my opinion, this is the most difficult thing to control or stay away from for men, but with strong will Inshallah everything can go smoothly. 1- I know fasting all your single life, is something which cannot be imagined, let alone done. I suggest, maybe eat less than you normally do. 2- Exercise. As you, may know that exercising helps reduce sexual desires. 3- Keep yourself occupied or find a hobby or something which you have a passion for. This will help you keep your mind off those things. 4- Most importantly, keep up with your salah and try not to even miss one salah in a day and also recite alot of the holy Quran. These are the things that kind of worked for me. Well, my advice. The best thing to do is ask your parents to find someone for you to marry. I know this is a tough thing, but at least you can try to convince them.
  5. (salam) Who told you to follow these schools of thought? Is it prophecised, that these schools of thought are going come after the prophet (pbuh) and if you follow it, it will save you from hell fire? If you do not follow someone guided, then how are you sure that the beliefs you have are not fabricated, because you follow someone who is fallible and capable of making mistakes and even can be a sinner. Think logically.
  6. LOL. Looks exactly like it. I'm starting to think that maybe it is a balloon after all. I didn't say it is galloping, but other youtube videos say that it does. Apparently, some christians took it very seriously claiming that it's a sign of judgement day.
  7. Yeah, from the video, it seems that there is lightning. One might say that it may be a balloon, but if you watch some videos on youtube which commented, they say that if you actually look really close, it seems that the horse is galloping. Still I'm not sure. Allah (SWT) knows best.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOVduROwRrk (salam) I came across this video showing a black horse flying through the sky in Jedda, Saudi Arabia. I don't know whether any of you have seen this or not, but I just wanted to know what we Shia's think of this. I don't think anybody has pointed out this video being fake, but still wondering if the horse seen is a balloon or is it actually true. Interestingly, christians have an explanation to this, saying this is the "black horse of the apocalypse" as they say and they claim that this is a prophecy from the Bible. The link is above, so you can watch it. Actually, It's kinda scary to think of it, if it is really authentic. I really wanted to know what's your opinion on this. Thanks.
  9. lol. Cousin marriages are very common in countries such as Iran, Afghanistan and etc, and still nothings wrong with their offsprings for the majority. I've only heard just a few stories that couples were cousins and they're children turned out to be mentally retarded or had a physical defect.
  10. Thanks alot. This is very helpful. Just the thing I was looking for. I want to thank everyone that replied to this thread. All of them are good points. :)
  11. Salam o Alaykom, My friend who is a christian brought up a topic about how disgusting cousin marriages are. Well, I defended and tried to explain it to him, but wasn't convincing to him. I felt embarrassed and said to myself that they might think that Muslims are born from, may god forbid, incest. I was wondering how we can justify this to non Muslims. Are there any biblical references or from the Torah? Thanks in advance.
  12. I don't understand arabic, but I can just feel that they are extremely ignorant about Shia Islam. BTW, I've heard most members of ISIS are Palestinians. Is that true?
  13. (salam) Welcome to this forum brother. May Allah (swt) show you the true path. You have to struggle to find the true Islam and you have to research unbiasedly in order to reach a conclusion. In a nutshell, we must obey what the messenger of Allah (pbuh) told us to hold on to before his (pbuh) departure from this world. Yazid b. Hayyan reported, I went along with Husain b. Sabra and 'Umar b. Muslim to Zaid b. Ar- qam and, as we sat by his side, Husain said to him: Zaid. you have been able to acquire a great virtue that you saw Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) listened to his talk, fought by his side in (different) battles, offered prayer behind me. Zaid, you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid, nar- rate to us what you heard from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him). He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), so accept whatever I narrate to you, and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that. He then said: One day Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah, extolled Him and delivered the sermon and. exhorted (us) and said: Now to our purpose. O people, I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger (the angel of death) from my Lord and I, in response to Allah's call, (would bid good-bye to you), but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. He exhorted (us) (to hold fast) to the Book of Allah and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you (of your duties) to the members of my family. He (Husain) said to Zaid: Who are the members of his household? Aren't his wives the members of his family? Thereupon he said: His wives are the mem- bers of his family (but here) the members of his family are those for whom acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. And he said: Who are they? Thereupon he said: 'Ali and the offspring of 'Ali, 'Aqil and the offspring of 'Aqil and the offspring of Ja'far and the offspring of 'Abbas. Husain said: These are those for whom the acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. Zaid said: Yes. Reference: Sahih Muslim, English version, Book 031, Hadith number 5920. At the end after "Ali and the offspring of Ali", its written that the offspring of Aqil and the offspring of Abbas. We don't consider these parts authentic, because it does not make sense to follow all of the relatives of the holy prophet (pbuh). For example, it gives legitimacy to the khilafa of bani abbas who were very oppressive and unjust rulers. By the offspring of Ali (as),it means his sons and grandsons, from Imam Hassan, Imam Hussain Imam Zainilabideen till the 12th Imam (as), which are known and considered the best of people of their time.
  14. (salam) Good question. I have also seen many similar to yours. People who are are earning haram money, can get rich very easily and it seems that they are very happy as if the world is created for them and they are created for the world. However, in the hereafter, they are in trouble. May Allah (SWT) guide them. On the other hand, earning halal money can be extremely difficult these days and I think that they can't get rich easily, but there is a lot of barakah in earning halal money. Whenever a muslim, eats food which is bought from halal earnings, an angel will make dua for him, until he/she finishes his/her meal. Also, the actual reward is given to a muslim in the hereafter. I'd say that it is one of the rules of this deceiving world.
  15. (salam) I remember in school, where I think if I remember correctly, they taught us that Quraish had two tribes, Bani Hashim and Bani Ummaya. I created this thread to ask if this is true and if not, how many tribes did Quraish have. In addition, I know that Abu bakr, Umar and Uthman are from neither of those tribes, so are the tribes where they come from, do they belong to the Quraish?
  16. (wasalam) I'm sorry. You have totally misunderstood. Are you trying to find excuses to say that what I said is kufr? Anyways, where does it say that supernatural means something else than Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì? By supernatural, I mean beings which cannot be seen with the naked eye. Jinns, angels, souls etc are all supernatural beings. Do you consider these to be kufr?
  17. Thank you for encouraging me. Yes, this is exactly what I'm doing. I didn't stop praying and I seek forgiveness after it ever since that happened and I have full hope that Allah (SWT) will forgive me, after all it\s the flight attendances fault for not giving egg sandwich. Thanks for laughing at my situation. lol. When did I say I stopped praying? I'm keep on doing it. I'm not making excuses to leave my religious duties. Well, I didn't know it was chicken sandwich and when I took a bite, then I noticed, it's not egg. so in my mind, I said "Yeah, whatever. She should've given me egg sandwich. It's her fault". But actually, it was mine, I should have stopped eating it.
  18. (salam) I recently had a flight. In the airplane, it was food time and they asked me whether I wanted a egg sandwich or a chicken sandwich. I asked for an egg sandwich, but I don't know if it was mistake or not, but they gave me chicken sandwich which I know is haram. I took a bite or two, I then noticed it was not egg and it was chicken sandwich. The thing is that I did not stop eating and I continued. So, basically I ate haram food, which my salat is not accepted for 40 days and was wondering if I do istighfar, then will Allah (SWT), accept my salat again and I don't have to count until the 40 days is over? I asked Sistani's representative by email, they said "Istighfar is required", but they do not give detailed answers, only one sentence. Thanks.
  19. It's definitely physical, because we are born into this world with a body and a soul. We are tried with our physical body and not with our soul. So, it would make more sense that we are gonna be physical in heaven and hell, because we are rewarded with what we did with our body. Hope that makes it clear.
  20. Thank you for the information. Of course, we all agree on this. However, it does not mean that the messenger of Allah (pbuh), did not have any knowledge of the unseen at all. We say, yes, he (pbuh) had knowledge of the unseen with the permission of Allah (SWT). He had knowledge of the unseen only to the extent that Allah revealed upon him and his knowledge is dependant on Allah (SWT). If we take those verses all literally, then everyone should (May God forbid) deny meraj of Rasulalah (pbuh) to the heavens. In meraj the prophet saw things which no human or previous prophet ever saw. For example, he saw hell, heaven, the 7 skies, various kind of angels and most importantly he reached so close to Allah (SWT) that the angels couldn't reach. (I'm not attributing physical features to Allah(SWT). Hence, we cannot say that even Rasulallah (pbuh) didn't have knowledge of the unseen.
  21. No. I do not consider those things to be a hidden secret. Afterall, they are physical and are in the boundaries of physics. What I mean, is things which are not bound to worldly laws. For example, angels. Aside from Rasulallah (pbuh), imam Ali (as) and other imams, could hear angels and were able to converse with them. What I am really trying to find out that are there or were there any fallible humans like us which reached such a level of taqwa that was able to see things what other humans could not. About seeing the 12 imam (as), you are right, there are clear narrations which state that anyone that claims to have seen the imam of our time before his return is a liar. However, there are some humans who have claimed they have seen him (as). eg, I've heard it a few times that imam Khomeini met the 12th imam (as). If it's true, then wouldn't that make him a liar too?
  22. By hidden secrets I mean, the supernatural which is hidden from our eyes. Also, being able to see the souls of the dead or barzakh while being alive etc. Oh, yeah, also meeting the imam of our time (as) before his return.
  23. (salam) I hope I am not being ignorant here, but I have heard this a few times or maybe if I am not wrong it is a hadith of Imam Ali (as) which says that if someone wants, he/she could unveil the hidden secrets of this world. ( something like that, I'm not sure). So, I have been wondering that we normal humans excluding the 14 infallibles (as), can reach a level of faith and piety that the veil between him/her and the world of unseen is lifted. Is such thing ever possible? Thanks.
  24. Why the hell would Iran, a dominant shia country do such a thing?
  25. I would be very excited if these books are translated into english. Unfortunately, only very few famous books of shias have been translated into english. I do not know arabic, but if I knew, maybe I would have tried to translate them, because it's important to spread the sayings of the ahlul bait (as).
