_student of Islam got a reaction from Ani in Miracles Of Zuljanah
When Imam Hussain(as) was a mere child and was learning to crawl, he used to go frequently to the stable of zuljanah and look at him. Once the holy prophet (s) said that his grandson was looking curiously at the horse as if some mysterious conversation was taking place so he said:

“My dear Hussain, do you want to ride the horse?”

    And he replied:

    “Yes Grandfather, I do.”

The horse was saddled on the order of the Holy prophet (s) and the Imam A.S came near to with a wish to ride, so suddenly the horse sat on the ground and the imam mounted on him.

In this incident two points are proven as a miracle:

How did the horse know that a little boy wanted to rise as nobody directed him to sit down for his rider? It is proven that the horse had a divine inspiration for it to sit low for the holy Imam(a) to mount and position himself astride in the saddle. The horse sat as a token of respect, obedience and love for him and so the beloved horse followed the divine decree and pleased god, the holy prophet and 3rd imam.

Secondly, the child going near a horse expressed his desire to mount him, usually children fear big sized animals and keep away but here the miracle of the imam childhood becomes manifest. The imam knew one day he had to ride this noble beast in this last battle at Karbala.

All the companions who were present saw the incident and were pleased to see the imam mount the horse, the horse too was considerate for his rider. When the holy prophet saw this coincident a serious of tears began to flow on his cheeks. At once the meeting transformed into a sad gathering and the companions also began to weep. One of them asked the Holy prophet.
“Today it is the occasion of festival seeing your grandson on horseback of this horst but why are you weeping?”

    The holy prophet replied:

You are not aware of what I foresee, the scene becomes alive before my eyes as this grand “Muratjiz” has borne my dear grandson on his back with care by stopping down on his four legs. A day will come when my grandson will not be able to keep himself in the saddle due to his extremely wounded condition and this very horse “Murtajiz” will then dismount my grandson on the burning sand of the desert of Karbala with the same consideration, stopping on his four legs and sitting on the ground as he has just down here”
Hearing this sad narration all the companions began to weep loudly.

The holy imam Husain is quoted as having said on the day of Ashurah:

“Wilt thou my dear Zuljanah kneel down a little to enable me to roll myself down to the ground? I know thou hast also been hungry and thirsty along with me. Pardon me my dear zuljanah for Husain is helpless. May the lord bless thee” Imam Husain (as) on the day of Ashura.

The faithful animal, which was itself hungry, thirst and wounded, spread its legs in such a way that the godly soul, one of the most brilliant stars of the heaven of divinity, slid himself down.

_student of Islam got a reaction from Ali Hamieh in Karbala And Imam Hussain (As)
    1-Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w):

حسين مني وأنا من حسين أحب الله من أحب حسين
” Hussain is from me and I’m from Hussain, may Allah love whoever loves Hussain “

ان الحسین مصباح الهدی وسفینه النجات
”Indeed Hussain is the lamp for guidance & the Ark for salvation from Hell”.

    A. When the Holy Prophet (saw. informed Hazrat Fatimah (a.s) about the Martyrdom of his grandson Imam Hussain (as), she burst into tears and asked:

"O my father! when would my son be martyred?" The Holy Prophet replied “ When neither I nor you, nor Ali would be alive."

she inquired again,"Who then, O my father, would commemorate Husayn’s martyrdom? The Holy Prophet said:

"The men and the women of a particular sect of my followers, who will befriend my Ahlu l-bayt, will mourn for Hussain and commemorate his martyrdom each year in every century."

    B. Once the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) informed his wife Umm Salamah about events of Karbala and the martyrdom of his own dear grandson, Imam Hussain (AS) in advance. He gave some soil of Karbala in a glass to her and said:

"Whenever you see that the soil of the glass changes to blood know that my grandson, Hussain (as), has been martyred."

On the 10th day of Muharram, 61 AD, Umm Salamah was sleeping in Medina in the afternoon. In her dreams she saw the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) while he was filled with sorrow and his clothes were dusty. He said: “I’m coming from Karbala and the burial of the martyrs.”

Suddenly she woke up and looked at the glass, and she found that the soil had changed to blood. It was then that she knew that Imam Hussain (as) was martyred. She started to mourn and cry.

    2-IMAM ALI (A.S):
Abdullah ibne Yahya narrated from his father who was a slave of Imam Ali (AS).Imam Ali (AS) while on his way to Siffin, passed through the desert of Karbala, there he stopped and wept very bitterly and said:

‘O Aba Abdullah, have patience, O Aba Abdullah have patience on the bank of the Euphrates. When Imam was asked: ‘What do you mean by Aba Abdullah’?

Imam Ali replied: ‘One day I went into the room of the Prophet (s.a.w) his eyes were gushing with tears,I therefore asked of him:
‘’ O Prophet Has someone angered you? What makes your eyes gush with tears? ’’ He  replied: “ Gabriel has just left me; he told me that Hussain will be killed on the banks of the Euphrates river ’’.

Gabriel then said to Him: ‘‘ Shall I let you smell its soil (wherein Hussain will be killed)? I said: ‘Yes’. So Gabriel extended his hand and presented a handful of the soil and gave it to me, I was then unable to prevent my eyes from gushing into tears’’’.

    3-IMAM HUSSAIN (A.S):
At Karbala’, Hurr and his army blocked the caravan of Imam Husayn from going any farther. The horses of the Imam’s group stopped, and Imam Husayn asked Zuhayr, "What is the name of this place " Zuhayr said, "It is also called Karbala " The Imam’s eyes watered and he said,

"This is the land , the land of sufferings and tortures. Here is the place where our blood will be shed. Here is the place where our graves will be.Here shall we be martyred and our children be killed. Here shall our tents be burned and our family arrested.. This is the land about which my grandfather the Holy Prophet (saw) had foretold, and his prophecy will certainly be fulfilled."

Imam Hussein speaks to his followers at the camp and assures them of their goodness and truth. In return, they pledge their loyalty to him. Then, foreseeing his death, Hussein purchases about four square miles of land to be the site for his and his family’s graves from the local residents of the area.

    Imam Hussain (a.s)  sermons:

“ Death with dignity is better than life with humiliation.”

Yazid demanded allegiance from Hussain – he knew too well that the acceptance of the entire Muslim community was of no value without Hussain’s acceptance. In reply to this unacceptable demand, Hussain majestically replied:

“A person like me can never pledge allegiance to a person like him”,

"We are the Household of the Prophet-hood  the source of Messenger-ship  the descending place of angels; through us Allah has begun (His favors , and with us He has perfected (His blessings); whereas Yazid is a sinful man, a drunkard, killer of innocent people, and one who openly indulges in sinful acts. A person like me can never pay allegiance to a person like him".

" I have not risen against Yazid in order to create corruption or discord, nor to elevate myself in the eyes of the people, nor to oppress.’’ I have only risen to rectify, to reform the affairs of the Ummah of my grandfather and of my father. I want to invite people towards good and forbid them from evil.’’

“I did not leave Medina for doing mischief, corruption, or injustice; but I only left with an aim of reforming the tradition of my grandfather. I intend to enjoin what is good and to prohibit what is evil.”

“Oh Allah, I have left the entire world for the sake of You, And I have orphaned my children so that I be with You. So if I am cut into pieces for the love of You, my heart would lean to none other than You.”

Amr ibne Sa’ad received orders to block all sources of supply of water to Imam Hussain. The scorching desert sent heat waves everywhere and the little children began to cry with intense thirst.Bibi Sakina (A.S) shared whatever little water She had with other children.

When soon there was no water at all, the thirsty children looked at Bibi Sakina (A.S) with their eyes full of hope, and because She could not help them She had tears in her eyes. Bibi Sakina’s (A.S) lips were parched with thirst.Imam Hussain was killed on the battlefield as he was offering his prayer in Sajdah.

_student of Islam got a reaction from mina in Shaheed Aminah Bint Al Huda
Shaheed Aminah Haidar Al-Sadr is an example of the spiritual and intellectual power of women. She was the sister of Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr. Aminah Al-Sadr, known as Bint Al-Huda was well educated at the hands of her two scholar brothers, especially Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir, who recognized her bright talent. As a teenager, Bint Al-Huda was a reader who always spent her pocket money on useful books and increasing her knowledge.

At the age of 20, Bint Al-Huda began writing articles in Al-Adhwa magazine which was published by the religious ulema in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq. Her articles drew the attention of intellectuals in Najaf and became torches which illuminated the darkness for women. Her writings awakened a society which, like many societies in other Muslim countries, was being deviated under the pretexts of freedom and equality.

A major crime of the Iraqi Ba’thist regime was the torture and murder of this noble lady and her brother and religious scholar, Ayatollah Muhammad Baqir Al-Sadr (may Allah bless them both). The regime of Saddam was well aware of their struggle for the sake of Islam, so they were arrested in April, 1980, and killed in cold blood three days later.

Some of her short stories can be read here.

_student of Islam reacted to Qa'im in Qur'an Discussion And Explanation
    (salam)

To mark this blessed month, I want to prepare some discussions and lessons on the Noble Qur'an. These talks are aimed at explaining some aspects of the surahs we regularly read in prayer. While we may often recite al-Fatiha, al-Ikhlas, al-Kawthar, al-Qadr, and other chapters, there are notable literary devices, hadiths, and tafasir that concern these chapters that are worthy of exploring. This is the month of the Qur'an, so we ask Allah to give us the strength to recite it and the ability to understand it.

These talks will be a sharh and a tadabbur rather than a tafsir. I am not qualified to give a definite exegesis. However, I will be sharing resources from both classical and modern sources, and relating the chapters to modern real-life concerns. I will be mainly referring to `Allamah Tabataba'i's Tafsir al-Mizan, Tafsir al-Qummi, Tafsir Noor al-Thaqalayn, and other works.

Without further ado, here is Part 1 of Surat al-Fatiha: http://www.tinyurl.com/islamictalks (Fatiha_Part1.mp3)

I will update this thread with more clips as they come inshaAllah.

What is better than fasting in this Holy Month?

Imam Moosa Kazim (as) said, "Serving Iftaar to your fasting brother (in faith) is better than your fasting."

    Assalamu Alaykum

By the end of this month, I aim to provide all of the reliable narrations from the Book of Fasting in Kitab al Kafi [Arabic with English translation], using the gradings of al-Majlisee.

InshaAllah we can all benefit from it and extend our knowledge of this holy month, and InshaAllah this could be used in the future by others.
