baqar reacted to sharib in My mother is no more.....
Dear co-members,
With a very heavy heart I am penning down these few words that my mother Mrs. Kaniz Murtaza, bint e Fazal Imam left for heavenly abode on Dec 30th 2019. Inna lillahe wa inna ilahe rajeoon.
I rushed to Lucknow from Doha to see her for the last time and came back today only. She was my first teacher who taught me Arabic for the purpose of Qur'an recitation even before she sent me to the nursery class. Right now I can not write what all is coming to my memories . I lost my father 10 years ago on 28th Dec 2009. A thread "ab main yateem hun " was written then in this Urdu Section.
I request you to recite sura e fateha for her.

Salam anyway Iranian politicians & scholars have different agendas in china that their only cooperation happens in time of arriving to China & leaving it to Iran but inside china they follow different agendas that are completely seperate from each other so presence of scholars are just limited to certain regions that Chinese government allowed to visit & politicians just rely on documents from Chinese authorities so both groups don't have any cooperation with each other.

baqar reacted to AbdulKarim313_Austin/Nola in Why do most reverts choose Sunni Islam
Alhamdulilah,
As a born and raised African American Muslim living in America and seeing many believers convert/revert to Islam here in the states, it could be for several reasons.
I think the main reason is lack of good exposure. There are not many people exposed to Shia Islam. The majority of centers are all Sunni based...whether it be Pakistani or Arab or African- American based Masjids.
And as someone also mentioned in the thread...Sunni Islam is seen as the orthodox or authentic Version of Islam by the masses. Unfortunately because of this lack of exposure, the people only receive the Sunni version of the small bit of Islamic history they do get. A lot of new Muslims who enter Islam never really study the actual history of Islam to know the difference. And to be honest with you.. a lot of born and raised Muslims don’t know the actual history of Islam either, even Muslims from the Sunni Middle East countries.
In my current city that I live in and in my family’s hometown city there is only one Shia masjid. Now compare one Shia masjid to around 10 to 20 Sunni masjids in most major cities.
So now that we see how fewer Shia masjids there are compared to Sunni you have to factor in the inaccessibility of Shia masjids compared to Sunni Masjids. I always had more easier accessibility to Sunni masjids as a Kid and an adult. Most Sunni masjids are open through all five prayers at their specific times and at Shia masjids they do combination prayers at specific times then lock up and bounce unless you have a key. In both of my cities, Shia masjids felt more like cultural centers for foreign Shia to come and congregate than masjids for the public.
Also there is no Jumah prayer at a lot of Shia masjids here in the states. Lots of Sunni gather for Jumah prayers and it’s a day that lots of people who are interested in the faith come to observe the congregation of Muslims on their holy day. Sometimes people decide to take shahada at Sunni Masjids on Friday after Jumah prayers.
In most American cities I have been to the most dawah is done by Sunni based Pakistani Tablighi Jamaat and Sunni African Americans. Those two groups mixed more as well. African Americans were the biggest fastest group of people coming into Islam in America for a very long time. Now I believe the Hispanics are the fastest at the moment which is the new trend in the states for Islam.
The media covers more about Sunni Islam than Shia Islam except for the negative coverage of Iran in general. Islam already gets negative stigma by media so factor in finally getting access to Shia masjid and there are people mourning and pounding their chest for ahlul bayt. Also too mention watching YouTube videos of people beat themselves until they’re bloody and chanting down with the west might be discouraging.
But Like I said there are many reasons for there being more Sunni reverts here in the states and the world. These are just some small noticeable reasons I mentioned, But ultimately everything is by the will of Allah and everyone has their different paths to the real truth of Islam. I just read about someone who was Hindi, then Christian and now they are in Islam. it’s not necessarily about the number of Shia but about the quality of Shia.
May Allah shower his mercy on the believing men and believing women.

Thank you for the excellent question. From my experience is boils down to access. There are a ton of Sunni mosques in the area and hardly any Shia mosques.
This next bit is from my own experience so please forgive the anecdotal evidence,
But for my part, trying to contact any Shia Mosque is way hit or miss. I think I have a success rate of 1 reply for every 5 or 6 emails I send. But my love for the Ahl al-Bayt could not be deterred by the lack of replies and I chose books to increase my knowledge and faith.

Brother, I am not an expert but as far as I know, you need to
add an adjective or follow it by a noun that specifies the proclivity or use it in the plural Examples of the three:-
His hunting proclivity was well known throughout the country. His proclivity for cooking made him famous in the community. Among her proclivities was the desire to look attractive. Also, you still need to correct the spelling of "microcosm" in the last sentence.

In real life, there is no such thing as a halal night club.
it is a contradiction in terms.
But if the night club is set up in the auspices of a supposedly Islamic government, they are using sarcasm to call it a halal night club,

I have noticed to that in my country there are far fewer Shia convert than Sunni converts. Even if we take into consideration that Sunnis are the majority, the number of converts to Shia is about half or below half as compared to the global Sunni/Shia ratio. I think it is about 20% of the global Muslim population that are Shia but below below 10% of the converts in my country that is. In fact the converts who identify as Salafi/Wahabi in some form is the same number as the converts who identify as Shia. That in spite the fact that the Salafi/Wahabi is only 0,5% of the global Muslim population.
I think the main reason for this discrepancy is that The KSA has invested large sums of their oil-money in Salafi dawah.
I don't think that it has to do with Marja's giving ruling without explanation, because Sunni Sheiks do the same. When I have discussed with Salafis they have difficulties making solid argument only saying it's haram! it's haram! it's haram! When I ask where it says that it's haram? the only thing they come up with is that their Sheik said so.
I don't think that the mourning over Imam Hussain is any obstacle for people becoming Shia. I find it very beautiful to see people let out their emotions like that. I was actually very surprised the first time I saw it, because I had the impression that Muslims was not allowed to mourn, but that is clearly one of the misconceptions that Salafism has spread.
It is not my impression that the Sunnis are treated better in the western media. Muslims in general is portrayed as terrorist, bigots, rapists and honor-killers. Shia's might have been mentioned slightly more favorably when targeted by Daesh, but after the fall of Daesh it seams like the terrorist stigma has been placed on Iran and Shia instead.
One thing that might be a problem is that the Shia is just called the "Shia." It com across as sectarian. Someones who has deviated from the "true" religion. I think that is sad because it is really the other way around, that the Ahlul Bayt has preserved the sunnah of the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) in a straight line within the same family. That ought to be much more convincing than the rag tag bunch of Hadith narrators of the Sunnis.
I think it is sad that Shias do not make more dawah. The story of Karbala is such a powerful story that ought to attract many more people.

Because the Islam of our Sunni brothers is presented as “orthodox Islam”.
Also because we have a lot of integration with culture and rituals which may not be as appealing to non Muslims if they do not understand it.

Brother, If you don't mind, I did not fully understand but I will let you know the few things I noticed.
a) First sentence
1.1 "loathe in" could just be "loathe"
1.2 "souls" should be "soul's"
1.3 the expression "soul's proclivity" does not make sense.
b) Second sentence
2.1 My dictionary does not have the word "painstaken"
2.2 "bodies" should be "body's"
c) Fifth sentence
5.1 "In a means" should be "as a means"
d) Eighth sentence
8.1 "Unique and particular" could well be merely "unique."
e) Last sentence
9.1 "astronomic" is correct but perhaps "astronomical" might be better.
10.1 General Comment: You need a title to your essay.
Hope that helps

Yeah and now these same people will say that Sistani's not involved with poltiics. That's not entirely true. When Sistani needed to speak up he did recently by praising Khamenei and the martyrs. Sistani even told people to practice self-restraint in the heat of the recent events. (We can all find his full statement).
It goes to show that people care more about bashing Iran and it's a way for them to make a "point". Like I said, the situation isn't the straightforward as it appears to some people.
