  5. (salam) Is anyone going to Syria for Arbaeen this year from Toronto or a package from UK? I'm trying to find a group to go with and if anyone has any information regarding this I would greatly apppreciate it. I live in Toronto, so I prefer that the package is from Toronto, but I know that some groups offer packages form UK, so I dont mind that as a second option. Thanks.. Hina
  6. Are Sayyid Mustafa Modresse and Sayyid Mahdi Modressi related? I know one is reading at Masumeen Centre and another and JIY?
  7. (salam) Very interesting book composed of scholarly articles about the way the worlds health industry works. If you want to know how the tech and pharmaceutical industries work along with Free Trade Agreements, to keep the poor people of the world sick and the healthy on viagara or tylenol... then you'll want to read this book. Also, its not opinion based, completely factual information, since a lot of it is straight up journal articles and policies.. Hina
  8. (salam) Sisters... How did all of you married sisters do proper Hijab at your wedding... Also those sisters not married if you've seen a muslimah bride do proper hijab at her wedding... Share your pics...I'm getting married next month and I wanna see how I can pull this off most hijab-ly and pretty-ly :D Thanks !! Hina
  9. You guys gotta remember that theres so many different types of love marriages as there are arranged. Most successfull marriages are those where the girl and guy fo into a marriage with a good understanding of each others values, goals and expectations from each other. If you can get that in either a love marriage or arranged marriage, you're set. It is Allah swt that will put the deep love and mercy in your marriage.
  10. I voted for simple weddings. I'm actually getting married next month and its difficult to keep things simple, specially with the amounts of customs and traditions there are in Pakistani weddings. But ALHUMDOLILLAH there wont be none of that at our wedding... As the Prophet (pbuh) said, the best wedding is that which is the simplest and leaves none in debt (I'm paraphrasing, forgot the actual wording of ahadith  )
  11. The Palestinian children have their rocks. The Isreali children have their missiles. One picks up a rock out of desparation, the other signs the missiles with smiles.
