Moses patience and the trials of Khidr
PureExistence1 and 2 others reacted to realizm for a topic
Just a few extra thoughts about surat al Kahf. Ever noticed that when Moses (عليه السلام) meets with Khidr (عليه السلام), he is tested by 3 things related to his own life experience ? First test : damaging a ship which could lead to people drowning. Moses himself when an infant baby was put into the water and was saved by Allah's protection. Second test : the killing of a soul. Moses himself killed a person and was summoned by an opponent of 'killing a soul', before fleeing and being saved from the armies of Pharaoh. Again, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) provided him help. Third test : asking salary or bounty for a service (rebuilding a wall). Moses himself, after fleeing and arriving alone and helpless at Madian, helped ladies with a well to drink and/or water their sheep. He subsequently had been offered a fair deal ('bed and breakfast') by Shu`aib for his help. Once again, Allah Karim. So what ? Well, I often wonder at what time of Moses' life (عليه السلام) he had met with Khidr (عليه السلام). Despite everything we know about Moses from his infancy to his prophethood, it is hard to figure out when his encounter with Khidr (عليه السلام) took place. Option 1 : If we consider this mystical journey happened before his Nubuwa/Meb`ath, (remember he is accompanied by a servant, maybe from the time he still was living at the Pharaoh's court?), then we may consider these things were premonitory and helped him understand and achieve his mission. Option 2 : If we consider it happened after his Nubuwa, which took place after leaving Madian, then it means Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) tested him on things he already had experienced. I think option 1 makes more sense but Allahu a`lam !3 points -
People can also be born psychopaths and it's still haram for them to commit violence. (I'm not saying that homosexuality and psychopathy are comparable in any way! Just saying that being born that way does not change the law.)3 points

Salam alaikom. What an observation akhi... it's crazy how the Quran has so many aspects that can juts fly over our heads. I believe that option two is right... just because I remember reading somewhere that the story occurred after Sayyedna Musa (عليه السلام) said he was the most knowledgeable creation of Allah and Allah wanted to show him the truth. Or it was revealed to Sayyedna Musa (عليه السلام) that there was a man more knowledgeable than him and he (عليه السلام) wanted to meet him. https://www.sibtayn.com/en/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7402&catid=851&Itemid=603 Allah testing Musa (عليه السلام) on things he already experienced may be the underlying purpose behind all of this. While Sayyedna Musa (عليه السلام) had the knowledge of the zahir (apparent reality), Sayyedna Khidr (عليه السلام) had the knowledge of the batin (hidden reality). Therefore, it may be that Allah wanted to show Musa (عليه السلام) how knowledge of the zahir lacks value without the hidden meaning. This is an opinion, but I think it's an interesting interpretation.3 points

New trend amongst younger Shia to challenge long held beliefs
Zainuu and 2 others reacted to Eddie Mecca for a topic
Should we believe like Catholics who blindly follow the pope?...or should Shīʿi Muslims be more like forensic investigators who carefully and meticulously follow the path that the evidence leads them to without reservation? I think we should behave more like forensic investigators and archeologists who follow proof...you're right...the devil is lurking behind every corner trying to lead us astray...the secularists, the postmodernists, the Zionists, the Saudis, the Hindutva Movement, the evangelicals, CIA, MI-6 etc. are all attempting to misdirect Muslims...but the well-read Muslim is a lot less likely to be fooled...the passionate, goodhearted blind follower is more likely to suffer from inner conflict or have an existential crisis somewhere down the line because he (she) took the lazy route and didn't do his (her) due diligence...in my experience it's always the mindless traditionalist who falls victim to atheism, assimilation etc....the ones who come through the door emotionally...usually exist the door emotionally...Qurʾān admonishes human beings for not using their mind, intellect and reason and strongly discourages robotically mimicking the masses... Ali (peace be upon him) said, “Verily, truth and falsehood are not known by the statures of men. Know the truth and you will recognize its people. Know falsehood and you will recognize the one who brings it.” I must entertain the notion and take into consideration that my mom may not be my mom...We don't challenge the obvious until the so-called 'obvious', 'evident' etc. is called into question and challenged...so Columbus arrived in 1492...not 1592, not 1692, not 1992...the indigenous natives tell us that he arrived in 1492 and the Europeans site the exact same year (i.e. 1492)...so there's universal historical consensus on the matter...if contrary evidence by a legitimate source arises in the future and contradicts the time-honored stance then we proceed further and investigate...we're not scared of truth and we advance fearlessly...we place ourselves in an objective position to analyze the contrasting proof once it surfaces...we're brave and we must judge the new proofs fairly and without bias or favoritism3 points -
New trend amongst younger Shia to challenge long held beliefs
Ashvazdanghe and 2 others reacted to Qa'im for a topic
The assumptions here are (1) that those who are skeptical are being hyperskeptical, ie questioning things just for the sake of questioning, and (2) that everything from tawassul, to Hadith al-Kisa', to Du`a' Kumayl, to Nahj al-Balagha, to the `isma of Amir al-Mu'minin (عليه السلام), to the martyrdom of Abu Fadl al-`Abbas are all of equal weight, value, and authenticity. That's a category error. This latter point is a big problem. The assumption is that, if you don't subscribe to the latest, most cultural, most flamboyant, most sensationalist expression of Shiism, then you are denying the foundations of Shiism. That's like saying, if you deny the Flat Earth conspiracy, then you deny that there is an Earth at all. The slippery slope in this example is a fallacy. Something like Hadith al-Thaqalayn or Ghadir, for example, has exponentially more weight than the idea that Sayyida Fatima (عليه السلام) is the only daughter of the Prophet (s). There is a long list of scholars on page 1 who believed in 4 daughters that never ever even questioned Thaqalayn or Ghadir - the sky is blue. The actual teachings and practice of Ahl al-Bayt, aka the whole point of Shiism to begin with. If we want to follow forgeries, then there are plenty of other religions to choose from.3 points -
1-3) This seems like it's going to cause a huge amount of issues. What does he mean? Hes going to suddenly divorce for no valid reason because he found a more beautiful woman? What exactly is the reason? The child part is going to add complications. 2) Not if its haram money, it does matter. Keeping secrets from your spouse is a recipe for disaster. 4) This feels like asking a woman for a dna test for her child, it seems like it comes from trust issues, I feel like she doesn't even trust him, this is a bad start already.3 points

Purifying dry ground (looking for Khamenei's ruling and some guidelines)
foxmccloud and one other reacted to HussainPasha for a topic
Salam again. I am once again here to get clarification on something. I've read Imam Khomeini's risalah and seen that his condition for the purification of najis hard ground is pouring qalil water over it and letting it run. But Sistani (R) adds a condition saying "If ground paved with stone or brick, or hard ground that does not absorb water, becomes impure, it can be purified with qalīl water; however, one must pour water over it to the extent that it flows. If the water poured over it does not disappear down holes in the ground but instead gathers somewhere, then to purify that place, the gathered water must be removed with a cloth or a utensil." I'm confused on this since would ground where water cannot permeate pass have water pass through holes in the ground? Cleaning the ground also will be very difficult for me since the najasat on a cloth should logically pass to the cloth and then my hand making it extremely tiring to purify the region (it's a large chunk of my bathroom). So so I can put myself at ease I'd like to see the ruling of Khamenei. I also have a question in regards to the taking of rulings from others when you can't find those of your own marja. Can you take anyone's or is there some specific ethic?2 points -

In the case of Sayyida Fatima (عليه السلام), the scholarly consensus was actually that the Prophet (s) had four daughters, so this is a case of the populace attacking the consensus without sufficient evidence. Four daughters were mentioned by the Safir of the 12th Imam, Kulayni, Mufid, Murtada, Tusi, Tabarsi, Ibn Shahr Ashub, Shahid al-Thani, Fayd Kashani, Majlisi, Mazandarani, Kashif al-Ghita', `Abbas al-Qummi, Ali Shariati, Ja`far Subhani, etc. etc.2 points

Good luck with the exams. Also I hope for Bloodborne to come to PC as well so that I can play it. I don't have a PS4 or even a PS5. Inshallah, I will get a PS5 when enough exclusives come out to justify owning one alongside my PS3, Switch 2, and my already powerful gaming PC since the PS5 is super expensive right now and the slim model hasn't made the prices go down. Switch 2 is coming soon if you want to play the likes of Zelda, Ring Fit Adventure 2, and other great Nintendo games like Metroid Prime 4.2 points -

1. and 3. - There many questions arises that she needs to consider: Did he explain why is he getting divorced? what were the issues? How old is the child? Why did he start looking for wife when he is still married to her? how is the relationship between his wife, her family and his family? 2. What does he do for living? halam or halal ? where money goes its important to know because you know to know whether it goes to towards haram things or not (e.g. Alcohol) 4. She should tell him that she requires him to do that whether its strange or not. Lastly, I suggest think of other questions or concerns you can think of then ask him. Don't rush.1 point

There's another concerning trend, and IMO it's much more dangerous than believing that a shrine is a particular person's shrine or something along those lines. Imam Ali ((عليه السلام)), "forgave" Aisha, so shias should keep their mouths shut against her. Imam Ali ((عليه السلام)) didn't raise arms against Abu Bakr, Umar, or Uthman, so that must mean that they are not as bad as the Rafidhi's make them out to be, and our sunni brothers are right, and we should repent, and keep our shia brothers from praying for the removal of mercy from these figures, otherwise they may be in trouble in the Hereafter. These teachings are actually being promoted from the pulpits of so-called scholars on a massive scale, and our youth is being misled.1 point

Ashvazdanghe reacted to guest 2025 for a topic
Before the forces of evil target the foundations of our faith first they have to attack the smaller things. This is speculation, but I think the purpose of this hyperskepticism is only apparent if we take a step back and look at things more broadly. It's not to cast doubt on a particular dua or ziyarah, it's take away from the scholars and their consensus. Like the OP said, it's a trend. It's not that these pieces are being questioned in a vacuum, this is an attitude.1 point -

1. If he is still married Islamically then he is not divorced. If he said he is going to get divorced soon then he should clarify when is 'soon'. She should know this unless she is willing to be a second wife and Islamically there is nothing wrong with this but he has to be honest with her and she has to accept this knowing the full, real status of his marriage(s). 2. IMHO, this is a bad sign. It is not an absolute requirement, Islamically, but if a husband and wife want to have a good marriage they should not keep important things like this from each other. If he is not willing to do this with her, again, it doesn't seem like this marriage is going to work out very well 3. Asking for an std test is legitimate ,and she is within her rights to do this but if he has only been with one other women, i.e. his wife, there is a very, very low chance that he will test positive for anything. So it might be unnecessary. If she thinks that he has had many secret relationships or done zina then she shouldn't marry him in the first place. In either case, the test is probably unnecessary. This is not a fiqhi requirement but it is not good aklaq to keep secrets from your husband / wife IF the things you are keeping secret have a direct effect on them. Finances will affect the wife at some point, if not immediately. They will effect her plans for the future (where they will live, where / if she can go to school / college, etc) so it is important to share this information and I have personally never seen a good marriage that is long lasting where the husband kept his finances secret from his wife. These usually end in disaster, again, in my experience. Like a wise man once said 'If you trust her with your **** and your kids (if you have kids) then you should trust her with your cash'. Otherwise don't trust her with any of these important things.1 point

Yes, many books were lost and destroyed. However: 1. Abdullah b. Nurullah al-Bahrani did not claim to have gotten this hadith from a lost book. He claimed to have gotten it from a 1,100 year long chain I mentioned earlier. 2. Most of the books that were lost/destroyed were gone by the 1200s (Mongol invasion) and prior. For such a hadith to survive another ~500 years without being mentioned is again very unlikely. 3. A hadith this valuable being left out of every important and unimportant book, by every major and minor scholar, including the likes of al-Kafi and even Bihar al-Anwar (which is a library of everything available to the Safavids up to that point in time), is very unlikely. For the sake of argument, let's say that the near impossible happened, and this hadith did survive orally for a millennium completely intact. There are tens of thousands of other hadiths, du'as, and ziyarat, whose reliability can be much better supported, for us to put this specific one at the very top.1 point
-
Btw, you guys do realise that a lot of our sources got either burnt and destroyed or stolen by the different enemies at different times right? Expecting to have sources dating back 1400 years for everything is kind of silly. Many of our duas and stories and such are oral traditions and yes they might not have stayed 100% original, but then again nothing but the Quran is 100%. If your faith in the wilayah of Ali is based on a crack in a wall, then that faith is as fragile as that same crack. Make sure you teach your children correctly.1 point

Engaging in futile discussions is the fitna. Anyone who brings up the number of daughters of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) as a discussion has only 1 purpose in mind - somehow reduce the status of Fatima (عليه السلام) or to elevate the alleged husbands of these daughters. Therein lies the fitna. Simple recognition of the status of Fatima (عليه السلام) solves the problem. But if they are too recognize her status, then they would have to recognize Ali (عليه السلام), then they would have to recognize Hasan (عليه السلام), Hussain (عليه السلام), etc. So its better to reduce Fatima to 1 of 4. Here is another example of unnecessary fitna... "the popular version of Hadith al-Kisa' is also very recent" - what does this mean? it didn't happen? What parts are true, what parts are false? Was there no kisa? Did ayah-e-tatheer not come down at that time? Were Hasan, Hussain, Ali, Fatima not under the cloak together? I am not saying the intention here was to create fitna but it may cast the seeds of doubt in someone's mind about the entire event of kisa. Those blessed with knowledge have a responsibility to be careful with their choice of words. To bring it full circle here is an authentic source and narrative in place of inauthentic/unreliable ones to prove Ali, Fatima, Hasan, Hussain were brought under a cloak and ayah-e-tatheer was revealed: 'A'isha reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) went out one norning wearing a striped cloak of the black camel's hair that there came Hasan b. 'Ali. He wrapped hitn under it, then came Husain and he wrapped him under it along with the other one (Hasan). Then came Fatima and he took her under it, then came 'Ali and he also took him under it and then said: Allah only desires to take away any uncleanliness from you, O people of the household, and purify you (thorough purifying) Reference : Sahih Muslim 2424 In-book reference : Book 44, Hadith 91 Is every single word in hadith-e-kisa exactly how things happened? May be, may be not. But the facts remain - cloak and tatheer happened.1 point
-
@Ikiryo, A lot of what you read today is meant to create doubt and confusion in the shia minds. How many daughters the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had is irrelevant to Islam? Change the narrative to "How many daughters did the Prophet have (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) like Fatima (عليه السلام)?" Did Hz Zainab (عليه السلام) give a speech in Yazid's court? Change the narrative, "Why was Hz Zainab in Yazid's court? Whose sunnah was Yazid following to dare bring the (grand)daughter of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) into his court?" Hadees-e-Kisa is fake hadith. Change the narrative, "Ayah-e-Mubahila is showcases the importance of the AhlulBayt to the whole ummah" The only way to counter these FITNAs is to change and control the narrative.1 point

I was under the impression that all sins are rooted in shirk (either concealed shirk or manifest shirk). I also believed that most of us are mushrik based on this verse: For example, a lot of us use Allah as a means and not as an end, we want to worship Allah so that we can go to heaven, this would be defined as concealed shirk, though it does not mean that we would necessarily be deprived of heaven for doing this. This is what I heard from Dr Farrokh Sekaleshfar here. Similarly, I also assumed that Iblees's refusal to bow to Adam was a form of shirk. However, I am met with the following narrations that indicate it was not shirk but that it was rather kufr. Could it be that the blessed Imam (عليه السلام) is referring to manifest shirk and not concealed shirk?1 point

I think the lack of interest is due to multiple factors, some of the ones I can think of on the top of my mind is: 1. Women do not get visually stimulated to the same degree as men, they are more emotionally stimulated, such a guy being nice or caring, thats why the visual stuff is not that interesting or rather attention grabbing. 2. Women do not feel the same kind of ghairah as men do. Such as a older brother towards his younger sister, it wont be the same as a older sister towards her younger brother. 3. Most women do not care too much about moral downfall in society (such as immodest clothing among its citizens) from my observations, such things do not anger them to the same degree and to the same extent. Maybe because it does not affect them individually to the same degree. Then there are more reasons.1 point
