Prophet had four daughters
Muslim2010 and one other reacted to 123xo for a topic
No, this what sunni hadith says.As they claim that Khadijah was previously married and had daughters and that is false !!! According to ahlu albeit (peace be upon them all) they made it clear that Khadijah was a virgin when she married Prophet Muhammed (pbu), and they did not have a daughter other than Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), and as for Ruqayyah, Zainab and um Kalthoom they were the daughters of Hala, Khadija’s sister, as the Messenger (pbu) took care of them after Hala’s death while they were children, and they were not the daughters of Khadija. For more details, see the book (Al-Sahih min Biography of the Greatest Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family: 2/121) by Jaafar Murtada. Allah knows best.2 points -
Struggling with my desires and it’s hurting my mental health
Ashvazdanghe and one other reacted to Abu Hadi for a topic
Salam. First I would say that as long as you realize it is haram and are taking steps to stop doing it, Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) will not abandon you and He is Al Rahman, the Most Merciful. So whatever happens, keep doing your Salat, Dua, Saum, etc. These are your connection to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). For practical steps to try and stop the sin, I would say three things 1) Find out what your triggers are, if you don't already know them. There are certain sights, sounds, places, people, etc, that will get you into the 'frame of mind' to do the sin. These are what will push you toward doing the sin. Try to eliminate those from your life completely and if this is impossible for you (given your situation) try to eliminate them as much as possible. 2) Try to Remember Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) at the time you are being pushed to do the sin. Say Ayat Al Kursi, Dhikr, Dua, etc at the time you are contemplating, being pushed to do the sin. They will help you the most at this time. Some people try this and they remember Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) at the time and they still end up doing the sin. So they think it doesn't work when actually it helped them in ways they don't realize. Get into this habit and eventually it will work. 3) Get Married. I know it is difficult for some and you might have some trauma associated with the breakup with your previous potential spouse, but stay out there and keep trying. It will be very difficult for you to stop completely without having a halal outlet for these desires, which are natural. Go the Islamic events, talk to your family to see if they know anyone, etc. Keep knocking and the door will eventually be opened with the help of Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). Your mental health is driven by your spiritual health. If your spiritual health is in order, this will improve your mental health. Don't take advice about mental health from people who have no connection, or a very weak connection to Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). They will never be able to help you. Many of them are simply front men / women for the pharmaceutical industry.2 points -

Marriage is about enjoying from living with each other by their wish which sleeping with opposite gender through Halal means without forcing their wish to each other but your innovation & deviation is about creating a hellish & painful life for both of couples which even in month of Ramadhan between sunset to dawn & during Hajj thre is Mut'a of Hajj which couples can enjoy from sleeping with each other but it doesn't mean brutal raping against wish of other side. You are permitted on the night of the fast to go into your wives: they are a garment for you, and you are a garment for them. Allah knew that you would betray yourselves, so He pardoned you and excused you. So now consort with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you. https://tanzil.net/#trans/en.qarai/2:1872 points -

As a white male revert, (Northern European Ancestry), I can say that the OP and the first post both have a point. Racism, Ethnocentrism, etc, exists in every religion and every community on earth. Speaking as a Shia, like br Ali said, this 'closed offness' that is sometimes equated with racism was (and still is in some parts of the world) a reaction to the severe oppressive way Shias were 'dealt with' historically by the majority sect. If, at one point, we weren't so closed off, we probably wouldn't exist today. At the same time, we have to look at our own particular situation as it is, not as it was in the past. In most parts of the world today, just saying 'I'm Shia' is not going to get you killed or put in jail as was the case in the past. Showing open support for certain groups is a different story and that might get you in trouble in many places in the West and ME. In the US, especially, white reverts are viewed with suspicion because many believe they could be 'infiltrators' or 'agents' of the US Govt. I have talked about this in the past. This is mostly an illogical fear because 'Yes' the US does send spies and infiltrators into Muslims communities, this is known and documented. At the same time, they almost never (I've never actually heard of a case) send in white reverts. The main reasons for this are logical. They have no 'cultural capital', not position, and most of the time don't even speak the language of the community so they would have a triple handicap as far as getting the information the CIA / FBI is after. When they send spies, they almost always send someone from that culture, who speaks the language, has a family 'pedigree' and most of the time has a prominent position in the community because those are the ones who have access to the information the FBI / CIA is seeking. Very simple if you think about it logically but most people don't think this way, they just react emotionally. At the same time, I don't think this suspicion is racism as much as it is a misguided attempt to protect the community. In my experience, most Muslims that I have met (I've met probably hundreds) actually don't have any sort of issue with Caucasians who are muslim except the above issue. The racism directed toward African Americans and those of African descent with dark skin is another story. This is very real and very common and I haven't seen the communities actually trying to address this directly.2 points

Darwin, Evolution and Islam: Bilal Muhammad
123xo reacted to Eddie Mecca for a topic
Just as it is important to learn what the theory of evolution teaches, it is also important to know what it doesn't say. How and when did life begin on Earth? Did it form from nonliving things (abiogenesis, Millery-Urey experiment) or did life arrive on Earth (biogenesis, panspermia)? When exactly did life form? 3.8 billion years ago, 4.3 billion years ago, or longer? The theory of evolution does not explain where life came from – only how species develop. The theory is, basically, an inference to the best explanation: since we cannot observe the 4 billion year history of evolution, the best we can do is piece together the fossil record and what we know about mutations and natural selection. Inference to the best explanation is the procedure of choosing the hypothesis or theory that best explains the available data. (as a sidenote, cosmological and teleological arguments are also inferences to the best explanation. So these arguments for God's existence use the same philosophical process) Dr. Stephen Meyer says that there is a "signature in the cell" that comes from an intelligent mind. Francis Crick, a codebreaker in World War 2, discovered that the four chemicals that form the basis of DNA function like alphabetical characters in a written language, or like code in software. They carry instructions to build the proteins that cells need to stay alive. This “code” is even arranged in a specific order. In other words, there is highly complex genetic information inside the DNA molecule. If you want to build a new animal, you need a lot of information. Even a basic organism, like a sponge, has over 60 types of cells, which all require unique proteins, and each protein requires this genetic information. Crick ultimately went on to argue that DNA is the creation of an alien intelligence. Random changes tend to degrade information. Adding random characters in code does not usually give new features to a program. Adding random words to a sentence does not usually give new instructions or coherent meanings. Similarly, random mutations may not be able to generate the information needed to build the proteins necessary to make new forms of life completely by chance. Dr. Douglas Axe compares this to a bike lock with 77 dials and 10 numbers per dial. That is one hundred Quattuorvigintillion possibilities. That is far more than the amount of seconds that have passed since the Big Bang (20 sextillion). To give a parallel example, imagine if we gave one million typewriters to one million monkeys. Would they eventually produce a Shakespearean play? Similarly, random variation and natural selection may be able to explain small changes – like the shapes of beaks and the density of furs – but could they produce all the complexities of all the species that are alive today? We cannot observe evolution, but we can propose hypotheses, and we can see which one best fits the available evidence. Similarly, what is the best explanation for the digital information inside of DNA? We know from our lived experiences that information comes from a MIND. Just like coding comes from programmers, and just like books come from authors, perhaps this same complex information comes from a great mind or designer. What is the probability that a full book was written by unguided chance, just because it is made from natural materials? What are the chances that a video game was created out of unguided inputs and variations? Then there is the Cambrian explosion. The Cambrian Explosion was a period, roughly 541 million years ago, where most major categories of species appear in the fossil record. Before the Cambrian Explosion, most species were single-celled organisms or small multicellular organisms. However, by the Cambrian Explosion, almost all categories of species that are recognizable today came into existence. The Cambrian Explosion was a problem for Charles Darwin. The fossil record that he had at the time in the 1800s could not explain this huge influx of new species. This was called “Darwin’s Doubt.” Darwin expected new discoveries to solve this. Darwin thought that the Cambrian Explosion took place over ~70 million years, which is a relatively short period in geological terms. However, scientists now estimate that the Cambrian Explosion lasted only 10 million years. Dr. David Gelernter, a leading computer scientist, says that evolution in this short window of time is mathematically “highly unlikely or impossible.” Evolutionary biologists say that the Precambrian fossil record is poor because (1) fossilization itself is a rare process; the conditions have to be exactly right for a fossil to be formed. (2) Precambrian organisms lacked bones or hard-parts that are common in fossils. (3) Precambrian fossils may be deep beneath the ground. Darwin was haunted by the question of how the first flowering plants evolved. He wrote, “The rapid development … of all the higher plants within recent geological times is an abominable mystery.” These plants make up the majority of all living plants, from oaks to wildflowers to water lilies. The plants appeared very suddenly in the fossil record 100 million years ago. These plants conquered the world very quickly, while mammals evolved more gradually. Biologists still have not solved this mystery. Is evolution falsifiable? Yes and no. Finding a 4 billion year old rabbit would falsify it - and that will (almost certainly) never happen - this gives weight to the theory. It is clear that organisms went from simple to complex over a long period of time. It is clear that some species changed while others went extinct. But: according to natural selection, the species that have survived had the right traits, while the species that went extinct had the wrong traits. While this can make logical sense, we can’t exactly prove or disprove this. We just have to assume that the species alive today are the “fittest.” But there is no mechanism that quantifies fitness. There are no universally recognized “good traits” and “bad traits.” All species that are alive today are incredibly diverse, and they all have strengths and weaknesses. It is the same with many of the species that have gone extinct. Proponents of evolution assume that any evidence that is missing today will fit their theory. This is what Dr. David Berlinski calls “Darwin-of-the-gaps.” People put their faith in the theory even if the theory has holes. Alfred Russel Wallace wrote about evolution around the same time as Charles Darwin. Wallace points out a problem: If humans are so closely related to apes, why can they do so much more than apes? Not how, but why? Humans are capable of speaking, mathematics, writing, building, cleaning, sewing, and playing instruments. This is despite the fact that humans can survive in some climates just fine without these skills – just like other animals do, including apes. Why is it that humans developed all these extra skills that are not a matter of life and death? And if these skills are so advantageous to our survival, then why did only humans develop these traits? Then there is the development of language. Among scientists, there are several evolutionary theories on how language developed. One of the most interesting theories is the single-step theory, which was proposed by Noam Chomsky. This theory is that one mutation in one single human being led to a near-perfect grasp of language. According to this theory, before this mutation, hominids (prehistoric humans) were only capable of making basic noises. All modern humans would be descendants of this person. Was this person Adam? Darwinian evolution is still the prevailing scientific theory used to explain the origin and development of all life. Evolution has done a lot to help us understand biology and medicine. Scientific consensus can only change with new research and new discoveries. A real scientist must stay at the drawing board – testing old conclusions and coming up with new ones. Still, there are many valid scientific questions about evolution. Many of these important questions unfortunately are mocked or go ignored. In conclusion: seek knowledge. Islam is not threatened by knowledge. Let scientists continue doing their work, and part of that work is asking questions.1 point -

Regardless of how many daughters the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) had, there was only 1 Hz Fatima (عليه السلام). The status and rank given to Hz Fatima (عليه السلام) is unquestionable so then what is the right question or conversation to have? How about this - did marrying Imam Ali (عليه السلام) raise Hz Fatima (عليه السلام) status to what it is today or did the other daughters' respective ranks decrease by being married to other ashab?1 point -

Indeed, Prophet Muhammad (sawa) having three daughters other than Fatima (عليها السلام), them being Zainab, Ruqayya and Umm Kulthum, is a fact that can be authentically derived from both Shia and Sunni sources. Here is the evidence provided by the late Sayyid Fadlallah (رحمه الله) from the Quran: "الصحيح هو أنّ زينب ورقية وأم كلثوم هن بنات رسول الله، وقد نطق بذلك القرآن الكريم في قوله تعالى :﴿يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ﴾ [الأحزاب: 59] فعبّر بالبنات، ولو كان لرسول الله بنتاً واحدة لجاء التعبير في الآية الكريمة ببنتك . Imam Ali (عليه السلام) also said to Uthman in sermon 164 of Nahjul Balagha that he held him to a higher standard than Abubakr and Umar since he was a son-in-law of the prophet (sawa): إِنَّ النَّاسَ وَرَائِي وَقَدِ اسْتَسْفَرُونِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُمْ وَوَاللهِ مَا أَدْرِي مَا أَقُولُ لَكَ مَا أَعْرِفُ شَيْئاً تَجْهَلُهُ وَلَا أَدُلُّكَ" عَلَى أَمْرٍ لَا تَعْرِفُهُ إِنَّكَ لَتَعْلَمُ مَا نَعْلَمُ، مَا سَبَقْنَاكَ إِلَى شَيْءٍ فَنُخْبِرَكَ عَنْهُ، وَلَا خَلَوْنَا بِشَيْءٍ فَنُبَلِّغَكَهُ، وَقَدْ رَأَيْتَ كَمَا رَأَيْنَا، وَسَمِعْتَ كَمَا سَمِعْنَا، وَصَحِبْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ كَمَا صَحِبْنَا، وَمَا ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ وَلَا ابْنُ الْخَطَّابِ بِأَوْلَى بِعَمَلِ الْحَقِّ مِنْكَ؛ وَأَنْتَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ؛ وَشِيجَةَ رَحِمٍ مِنْهُمَا، وَقَدْ نِلْتَ مِنْ صِهْرِهِ مَا لَمْ يَنَالَا" "The people are behind me and they have made me an ambassador between you and themselves; but by Allah, I do not know what to say to you. I know nothing (in this matter) which you do not know, nor can I lead you to any matter of which you are not aware. You certainly know what we know, we have not come to know anything before you which we could tell you; nor did we learn anything in secret which we should convey to you. You have seen as we have seen and you have heard as we have heard. You sat in the company of the Prophet of Allah as we did. (Abu Bakr) Ibn Abi Quhafah and (‘Umar) ibn al-Khattab were no more responsible for acting righteously than you, since you are nearer than both of them to the Prophet of Allah through kinship, and you also hold relationship to him by marriage which they do not hold." In the link below Sayyid Fadlallah (رحمه الله) provides many other Shia narrations and scholars' sayings about the prophet (sawa) having 4 daughters. I don't know why this is denied by so many Shia nowadays, maybe to diminish Uthman's title of Dhul Nurayn by having married two of the prophet's (sawa) daughters Ruqayya and Umm Kulthum. https://sayedfadlullah.com/article/12071 point -

My point is that, historically, this basic pattern seems both ubiquitous and almost universal. In practice faith is very often very closely linked to or treated almost as synonymous with one’s bloodline. According to this sense apostasy would be equivalent to squandering one’s inheritance, thereby threatening the bloodline itself, and hence punishable by death and/or excommunication. Disobedience to one’s parents in matters of religion would be treated as the same. Look at the symbolism: the patriarch / father / king, the matriarch / mother / queen, and their direct descendants. I suspect that this explains why different faiths tend to be restricted to certain ethnic or racial groups at best. In Talmudic Judaism there are some traditions to the effect that converts from non-Jewish ethnic groups are undesirable (recall that Judah is one of the Israelite tribes, so that Judaism can be both a lineage and a religion). ? Arabs aren’t dark-skinned compared to Caucasians, except maybe part of the Yemeni population (near the Horn of Africa). I think the hostility in this case has much more to do with race than religion. After all, different races tend to be hostile to “foreigners” in their midst for one reason or another. So why are you equating “Arab” with “Muslim”? In doing so you also help illustrate my point: that religion is treated as the exclusive property of a particular race/lineage, to which other bloodlines have no right, hence the discouragement of interethnic conversion in practice (most visibly in Judaism, as you noted). As I may have suggested earlier: the fact that religion is so often conflated with race and/or lineage—and that the latter is regarded as somehow dictating the former—is very revealing. This goes for both sides: the Arabs, in turn, regard “whites” as being synonymous with “Christians,” while the Caucasians regard “Arabs” and Semites generally as being synonymous with “Muslims” (and/or “Jews,” for that matter). It’s as though there is no difference between race and faith in practice. To be clear, this kind of behaviour is not exclusive to Muslim groups, but is, in my eyes, common to virtually all creeds, given that mankind seems to be strongly particularistic and tribal in nature—in a biological rather than a spiritual sense. In other words, this or that faith is treated as a particular bloodline’s private property and tends not to be imparted to other bloodlines, which are deemed “unworthy” of being admitted to the covenant.1 point

What do our Sunni brothers and sisters think about the Shias primarily standing up for Palestinians? How may they be rationalizing this? I am in some chat rooms with Sunnis in my local community and they are silent in support or against resistance efforts, except one of them writes me saying Hassan Nasrallah stands up for the whole Ummah. I commented that resistance efforts have been more successful than expected and no one said anything. Since my local chat friends are not responding I will bounce my thoughts here. It seems that the resistance efforts are doing better than expected because 1) social media and independent journalism are a new factor in the last 10-15 years which have greatly influenced global public opinion in support of Palestine 2) United States while still a super power is not as powerful as it was 10-15 years ago due to the advancements of technology. Whereas an advanced weapon used to cost a lot of money now sophisticated weapons are cheaper to make and a $10,000 weapon can take out a tanks. Moreover, drones are also not that expensive yet are impactful. 3) the resistance groups, being mostly Shia, are used to fighting on the weaker side, so are not intimidated to go to battle with a super power, whereas the American and Israeli soldiers have comfortable lives they want to return to instead of going to battle 4) before the side with the advantage altogether changes what can be observed is a leveling between sides.1 point

It stands on its own as a complete system.1 point -
There definitely exists this unfortunate trend among Muslims, and this is something we should move to change. But there is a reason for it. The Shi'ites, ever since the reign of Muawiya, were forced to practice taqiyyah. Known Shi'ites like Maysam al-Tammar and Hujr ibn Adi were executed. People hesitated from naming their sons 'Ali' because of the danger it posed to them. This continued from Muawiya until ISIS. The latter's crimes are documented and can be seen visually. Religion was something that was passed only to your children, because otherwise it would mean the end of your life. (The same could be said about the Jews (although Zionism more or less formalised it as a part of the "ethno-religion")). In some parts of the world, this continues today. Imagine you're a radical Sunni in Afghanistan, Iraq or Syria, and you hear some idiot like Yasser al-Habib cursing your "mother" (Aisha) and your "amir" (Omar). It doesn't matter where the cursing happens, but it's bound to draw a violent reaction from you, who believe that the Shi'ites are worse than the Jews and Christians and that their blood is halal. Even discussing the esoteric dimension of Imam Ali (عليه السلام) will be perceived by some radicals as shirk, and I'm sure you know what radicals are willing to do to mushrikeen. We should also consider the rise in xenophobia, especially after 9/11. Imagine an Arab Muslim with dark skin and a lot of facial hair giving da3wah to a white American who believes that the Muslims are taking over their country (and probably has a gun). Forget da3wah, just the mere fact that the Muslim exists in a "white" country is enough for him to be attacked. A lot of the world is still very racist; they might not openly show it like before but it's definitely there. It's for reasons like this that religion has been regarded as "private property" by many. That said, as I mentioned before, there is definitely an element of racism in our communities and that has to change. Just because a Muslim isn't from your country, doesn't make them less pious in the eyes of Allah. Allahu a3lam.1 point

They were in their original forms but they have been changed so much by people over the centuries that it is impossible to tell which parts are truly from God and which are not. I read them myself sometimes, but I think of them as history books. The only book that we (non masoom) have access to which is 100 percent from God, cover to cover is the Holy Quran which is wny we value it and protect it to the point that some people think we are crazy. Mutah with no intercourse

Walykum Salam. I would say again that it would be "injustice" only if one spouse wishes to have sexual relationship but other person refuses. That is injustice and forbidden in Islam. But if husband & wife both agree that sexual relations will never take place, then it is an agreement between them and there is no injustice and it is also Islamically halal and permissible. Marriage gives people permission to have sex; it doesn't mean that they are forced into or compelled to have sex against their wishes. If husband and wife are compleltely happy and satisfied without having any physical relationship, that doesn't mean the marriage is hellish. They both may have some illness due to which their sexual desire is completely absent. So they are both otherwise very happily married but there is no sexual relationship between them because they don't need it. Another situation could be when a man is imprisoned for life and his wife can only come to visit him, but they can never be alone or have any privacy to have any sexual activity at all. So they are married and happy with each other, but they will never be able to have sexual relations because they can never be alone. A woman or a man may have some negative sexual experiences in life which have left severe mental trauma regarding any type of sexual activity. Even the thought of sex makes them agitated, fearful restless, disappointed and tense....so they wish to live their entire life without even thinking about sex. If such a person has a spouse who is understanding and caring, he/she will not force their spouse to engage in sex when they know the spouse doesn't wish to do it. They can happily live a sexless married life and Islamic law will not make it obligatory on them to have sex. So...you really cannot say that a sexless married life is injustice because there are many different types of people in this world and there are many different situations and unlimited variations of choices and preferences and needs and demands in marriage. So as long as Islamic rules are not being broken and both husband and wife are compleltely happy with each other, sex is not an absolute necessity in marriage.0 points -
