No grounds in Shi'a Islam?
ShiaMan14 and one other reacted to Mohamad Abdel-Hamid for a topic
The bother made a mistake. The pillars of faith (or roots) of Shia Islam are 5: Tawheed, Divine Justice, Prophethood, Imamate and Judgment day. Meanwhile, the branches (the main practices) are 10: Prayer, fasting, hajj, zakat, khums, jihad, enjoining good, forbidding evil, tawalla and tabarra. Just because one brother made a mistake doesn't mean he reperesents all of us, don't generalize. We didn't receive Qur'an from the Imams, please don't be ridiculous. And the fact that you're saying that the Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) gets no love by mainstream Shias and that "it’s a shame" is totally wrong.2 points -

Biologically - Men can reproduce more children then a women can, a women has to wait 9 months, while a man can simply continuously reproduce it, however, a cap of 4 women is placed. Islam is the only religion which sets a limit on the amount of spouses a man can have. Looking at this through a materialistic worldview, I don't see females objecting to being the 3rd or 4th wife of a socially elite member within society. We also see polyandrous relationship being high between secularists nowadays. Socially - At times there is a social need which ought to be met, which can stem from a variety of reasons Many widows, divorcees, or simply a population of females that exceed that of males, without polygamy being permitted there couldn't be a means to satiate this gap. Muslim population could be suffering a disparity in numbers, which would then necessitate a more increased rate of reproduction which could be achieved by means of polygamy. Emotionally - Nobody is forced to partake in such a relationship. Women have the choice to accept marrying someone with more then one wife. A first wife can request of her husband to not marry a second wife, however, if the means is legitimate then there is no point of protest. In the end he is obligated to provide for her physically and financially. Think of all the women who have lost husbands to war, disease, and the list goes on. It is important to understand that this rosy ideal of a couple in 'love' is completely nonsensical, if such love is centered around selfishness - on both ends - the man ought to marry for the sake of Allah and the benefit of the Muslim Ummah and the Women ought to accept such decisions for the sake of Allah and the Muslim Ummah. If there is an emotional harm that is unbearable the women can (a) request that the husband not go through the marriage via legitimate reasons, or (b) explain to the judge that she cannot withstand being a part of a polygamous relationship - adding as a marital condition that the husband should not marry could be very helpful. These are few of a plethora of reasons which stem from a deep psychological and social reality in respect to a certain threshold that ought to be addressed, may we seek to look at matters through that which benefits Islam and the Ummah, rather then looking at such convoluted and necessary realities through a shorted-sighted lens.2 points

It takes roughly about more than a year to two years biologically to rewire your brain, given that you follow a proper system and obviously don't engage in other things which fire up the same neuropathways in your brain. For example, if you stop masturbation for 50 days but during those 50 days you engage in other unhealthy activities such as social media binging that give you that dopamine hit, then in reality your brain isnt rewiring.1 point -
I have heard from a study of church attendance being down by 30% and not coming back. My question to them is, Where is your faith? Are you trusting in God? Do you desire this life more than eternal life with God? Eternal life with Him, is His promise to us when we have put our faith in his son, Jesus Christ. Before I contracted COVID, the Lord had spoken to me. He quoted from the Zabur, Psalms 118:17 that "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." He also spoke from the Tawrat, Isaiah 54:17 "No weapon formed against you shall prosper." When I had COVID, I trusted God and stood upon and believed His Word spoken to me. My husband and I both had no complications and recovered quickly. All glory to God!1 point

As part of a stabilization program, groups viewed as an internal threat to the Chinese people's safety and social stability are being repressed: Falun Gong, missionary-based chrisiians (not state sponsored), Sufis (especially after the Ma Li problem nearly thirty years ago), un-official buddhist sects, . . . During the 1990's Taliban, at the time only 3 Uyghur men are known to have went to Afghanistan and 2 more years after that. The Shanghai Five was formed in 1996 in response to lsIamic 'terrorism' and is now known as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The OIC delegation which visited China to investigate the situation did not find any evidence of a genocide. The 'detention centres' were found out to be rehab centres for returning to the mainstream those people who had been radicalised by the ETIM. Millions of people are not in the 'detention camps', just former ETIM members are detained for inducting back into the mainstream and giving them vocational training. People are not being detained wholesale. I have friends working in Xinjiang who travel to and fro, and they have told me there's nothing like what the media portrays. Most of the Uighur population are honest, law abiding citizens and are well represented in the state services as well as the CPC hierarchy. The situation is not at all the same as the one in Palestine. Bear it in mind that the ETIM is an al-Qaeda affiliate, which has fought in the Syrian 'revolution'. They have engaged in violence against Uighur Muslims themselves, and by no means represent all the Uighurs. The crackdown is on militant groups, not the entire ethnic group. Requesting everyone to refer to these- https://www.qiaocollective.com/en/education/xinjiang https://foreignpolicy.com/2021/02/19/china-uighurs-genocide-us-pompeo-blinken/ When the OIC and now the US State Department themselves say that there is no genocide in Xinjiang, so to speak, what should the IRI condemn, and why? 5_6280708982508093767.pdf1 point -

Economic schools of thought.
notme reacted to Mohamed1993 for a topic
So I work in economic research and I've often found that the things you hear about in the news, such as most Americans being unable to fund a sudden expense of $1000, and over half of Americans being unable to afford the cheapest car in the market gets ignored by economists. You look at real GDP rising, unemployment falling and stock markets booming and people interpret that as the economy being well on its way to recovery. However, if you look at why unemployment rates fall, it's because a lot of people have taken up multiple part time jobs, and many people now take on contract jobs where they are overworked, underpaid and receive hardly any benefits. This squares up with the fact that real wage growth in the US has been abysmal since the 1970's. In fact even though unemployment rate is falling, the amount of people that are now outside of the labour force is quite high, and you're not considered unemployed if you're too discouraged to look for a job because of meager prospects of getting one or the lack of benefits in many jobs. When you look at the reasons for this, many economists will argue it is because productivity growth isn't high among workers. This is a predominant view in the US and I would probably say in most of the West, where the predominant economic school of thought that prevails is the neoclassical one, where wages are a product of market forces, exploitation of labour is ignored, it is just assumed that firms that overexploit workers will not attract as much demand. However, we know that's not true and if productivity determined real wages then are CEOs 50 times more productive than employees? That's absurd. I think the Marxian school of thought is the only one that can explain this trend in inequality and wages. However, that often is completely ignored in universities in the West. But a huge problem with Marx in my view is that he often ignored human nature, so while he talked about the working class getting fed up of the greedy capitalists and overthrowing them, he also left-out the fact that many of the working class would try to oppress their fellow working class members. I think this is a fundamental flaw in the way he thought about how people organize themselves economically. And in places like Venezuela, we see immense levels of poverty and people would rightfully argue that this is because of lack of diversification, and too much reliance on oil. This is partly true, however if you look at the Maduro government and its supporters, many of them are not suffering like much of the working class is, and there is a great deal of corruption among Venezuelan officials. I would bet they have large sums of money saved in some offshore accounts. Often socialist governments or governments that claimed to be socialist, ended up producing state tyrannies that massacred millions of people. So then the question is if Marx got it wrong and if Friedman got it wrong, what is the right approach to economics? Is the best we can achieve given human nature the Scandinavian model, which in some cases is more capitalist than even the US but has a very well broad-based welfare state which at least tries to level the playing field for people to succeed. But in that case which economic school of thought would you think would have more merit? Should economics the way it is taught in the West be reformed? @hasanhh, @King you guys might be interested in discussing this.1 point -

AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine. It is made from a weakened version of a common cold virus (known as an adenovirus) from chimpanzees. It has been modified to look more like coronavirus - although it can't cause illness. Once injected, it teaches the body's immune system how to fight the real virus, should it need to. Any particular reason for not taking the real SARS-Cov-2 virus and modified it not to cause illness? Today, it seems to me science is turning more like a religion: differing parties and each party believes it’s on the truth. Just like religion, we should respect each other’s belief and try to live in peace. With respect to Covid-19:- Some believe vaccines are safe and these are the vaccine-pushers. Some believe there’s a genuine safety issue and these are the vaccine-hesitants. Some believe it’s a hoax and these are the vaccine-deniers. Some believe a RT-PCR test is flawed and the probability is only 3% of those tested +ve is actually infected with SARS-Cov-2, when CT (Cycle Threshold) is greater than 35. [QUOTE] Most PCR assays are constructed based on the German Drosten et al. Protocol. On November 27th 2020, 22 scientists submitted a request for retraction of this protocol which was published in the journal Eurosurveillance, citing a number of fatal design flaws. https://cormandrostenreview.com/report/?fbclid=IwAR3kaAj43yFTKtRvc5yuFToH7sU3GcxNM4S8hXj3Aabz7uIkQSNeoyCD2pw . . 3. The number of amplification cycles (less than 35; preferably 25-30 cycles); In case of virus detection, >35 cycles only detects signals which do not correlate with infectious virus as determined by isolation in cell culture [reviewed in 2]; if someone is tested by PCR as positive when a threshold of 35 cycles or higher is used (as is the case in most laboratories in Europe & the US), the probability that said person is actually infected is less than 3%, the probability that said result is a false positive is 97% [reviewed in 3] . . These are severe design errors, since the test cannot discriminate between the whole virus and viral fragments. The test cannot be used as a diagnostic for SARS-viruses.[/QUOTE]1 point -

Some men are more aware of the fact that they are made to practice a polygamous life and if they communicate that with their wife then on their happy way. I personally think we need to help the men who want to be polygamous more so that there isn't issues when it happens.1 point -

From Sunnis: Abdullah (Ibn Masud) narrates from the Prophet ( وآله عليه الله صلى وسلم (who said: Allah has (appointed) angels wandering on earth, they bring me the Salam of my Ummah”, and the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said : “ My life is good (Khayr) for you, you narrate me and I narrate to you, and my death is good for you, your actions will be presented to me, what I will see from good deeds I will praise Allah, what I will see from bad deeds, I will ask forgiveness from Allah for you” [Musnad al Bazaar, Hadith # 1925, Published by Maktaba al Uloom wal Hikam] Imam al Hafidh Al Haythami (rah) said in Majma Az Zawaid: It’s narrators are those of Sahih [Majma Az Zawaid 9:24] Imam al Hafidh Jalal ud din Suyuti (rah) said in Khasais ul Kubra: Its Chain is Sahih [Khasais ul Kubra 2:281] Imam Suyuti (rah) also authenticated its chain in Manahil al-Safa (p. 31 #8) And Imam al-‘Iraqi (rah) said: وروى أبو بكر البزار في مسنده بإسناد جيد i.e. Abu Bakr al Bazzar (rah) narrated it with strong chain (in Tarh al-Tathrib 3:297) Imam Ibn Jawzi (rah) also narrated it in his magnificent Al-Wafa bi Ahwal lil Mustafa, Page No. 826, Hadith No. 1564, Published by Dar ul Kutab al iLmiyyah, Beirut, Lebanon (Note: In the beginning of this book Imam Ibn Jawzi the most strict scholar on Jirah wa Tadil said: I have not mixed Sahih ahadith with false in this book] Mullah Ali al-Qari (rah) added: "Al-Harith ibn Usama narrated it in his Musnad with a sound chain." (Al-Qari, Sharh al-Shifa' (1:102) Shaykh `Abd Allah al-Talidi said in his Tahdhib al-Khasa'is al-Kubra (p. 458-459 #694) that this chain is sound according to Muslim's criterion, and Shaykh Mahmud Mamduh in Raf`al-Minara (p. 156-169) discusses it at length and declares it sound Al-Munawi also declared it sahîh (Al-Munawi in Fayd al-Qadir (3:401) And so did al-Zurqani in his commentary on al-Qastallani's al-Mawahib alLaduniyya, and Shihab al-Din al-Khafaji in Al-Khafaji, Sharh al-Shifa' (1:102) This hadith clearly proves that all our actions are witnessed by Prophet (Peace be upon him). - It seems that Ahlus Sunnah wa’l Jammah believs in this and that Salafis oppose it.1 point

Struggling to pray
Hameedeh reacted to alsharifi.n for a topic
Salam alaikum, I used to think of my prayer as a chore and later on it made me guilty as we really need to approach prayer in a different way. The purpose of prayer is to thank your Lord and to strengthen your connection with Him. From now on, instead of just thinking "oh it's prayer time" think of it as an important meeting that you have. In the end it is an important meeting with your Lord. You would never be late for a meeting or an interview, so treat prayer time as such. That's what I started doing and slowly, over time everything about my prayer changed, Alhamdulillah. You literally will start to fall in love with prayer time. It is your time to build your connection with Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى). Another thing you can do it to make the area that your pray in more beautiful. Make it special, and away from distractions, especially your phone or any other devices. All the best, sister.1 point -

Corporate tax-rates are lower than in many US states I believe. The problem is corporations find many loopholes to hide their profits. Yeah theoretically it sounds like the best model I can think of, however I just don't know if human nature will ever make this possible in reality. Granting power to the working-class is awesome, but you can't guarantee that the working class will not just start to exploit and take advantage of other members of the working-class then.1 point -
(salam) Noah, Well, they are important enough for people to erect statues and spend billions in bio-defense (Snowden and Ebola respectively). This is America no matter how much the Stasi gov't does not like it, so you are not forced to read it. Right, Comrade?1 point

So can we have an agreement here? Read it carefully: "Death to the enemies of Wali al-faqih" The key word here is "enemy", i.e. those who want to bring down the system, destroy it, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against and so on. ----------------------- en·e·my –noun 1. a person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another; an adversary or opponent. ----------------------------------------- Would you consider your self as an enemy? Someone who simply does not agree with the WF system based on his understanding (mis-understanding) or his Ijtehad cannot be labeled as an "enemy" now, can he?1 point
