I don’t get it, yesterday I was watching a debate in tv, it was about a Yemeni man and a Iraqi Sunni man. The Iraqi man said Iran is the one who destroyed his country. He even said Iran destroyed Syria and is controlling Lebanon by making them their slaves. This is not the first time, people always talk negatively about Iran, saying they are worst than Israel. But I’ve never seen Iranian people murdering children and women, attacking another country for no reason and raping women/stealing other people properties. Why majority of people say this with no prove? Is it because they are Shi’a?4 points

Yesterday was my husbands birthday, so he got to choose what we had for supper. He picked pot roast, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans. Right now I'm having my coffee, but instead of the usual milk, I made some almond milk. It's pretty good, but I wouldn't have it daily. I might have some leftovers for breakfast too. I'm still working on getting my chest freezer emptied out so I can defrost it. I found two packets of beef hot dogs. We're going to have them for supper tonight. I haven't decided what to serve with. How to make almond milk: Soak 1 cup of almonds in water overnight. Drain away the soaking water, and rinse the almonds. Add nuts and 2 cups water to blender and blend, then strain through fine mesh. It's fine as is, or you can sweeten or flavor it to taste. You can save the almond meal in the fridge to add to foods. If you aren't going to use it within a day or two, dry it in a low oven or food dehydrator for storage.3 points

Iran's unconditional backing of Assad and involvement in Syria has really damaged Iran's reputation over the past few years. Before the Syrian conflict Iran had a generally positive image even amongst a lot of Sunnis. As far as Iraq is concerned, they just want to be independent while Iran understandably seeks influence.3 points -

Brother watches very Haram stuff, what should I do?
AmirioTheMuzzy and one other reacted to Lilly14 for a topic
My mom worries severely a lot about everything especially her kids (often can't sleep at all at night because of her worries). She saw my brother looking at stuff on the computer that he was being shifty about and to her it seemed like the screen showed gambling websites, she asked me to check his history today when he was at work... It was eBay (where you can bid on items you want) and I told her that that's what it must have been, and he was being shifty since my mom doesn't like him spending too much money. But I saw that there was a few porn listed in his history too... I didn't tell her anything yet because simply when my brother watching movies that have gore and kissing scenes stresses her out and upsets her!!! My brother just starting working for the first time alhamdollilah so we have started looking for a girl for him to marry months before he even started. I'm very worried about his iman... He sometimes forgets to pray since he works double shifts, and when he does he does so in a way that there's no way he is reciting everything. And he doesn't like checking ingredients in food labels to avoid haram foods... We've talked to him about these things countless times with no luck.2 points -

Imam Jaffer Sadiq[as] was asked; Why Kabbah has four corners ? and Why the Holy kaaba is [Cubical }...?- .. Imam Sadiq[as] answered, because it has four sides. The person asked why is it four sided? Imam Sadiq[as] said because it is equal to Baitul Ma’amoor. The person asked again why Baitul Mamoor has four sides....? Imam Sadiq[as] answered because it is equal to the heavenly world and that is also four sided. The questioner asked why the heavenly world is cubical? Imam Sadiq[as] answered because the words that Islam is based on are four and they are [ "SUBHANALLAH", "WALHAMDULILLAH", "WALA "ILAHA ILLALLAH", "WALLAHU Akbar".] Allameh Majlesi explained about the above narration and the four noble words and their connections with the four sides of the Ka'aba saying maybe the heavenly world is referring to the knowledge and the divine knowledge and sciences are based on these four words. SUBHANALLAH means the Almighty is free from being a matter or be in a certain place at a certain time or be seen or to appear. The Almighty’s characteristics are beyond the possibilities and free from whatever that cannot be equal to them,. ALHAMDULILLAH means all worships and admirations belong to the Almighty. Therefore it is essential that the completeness belongs to the Almighty and such a complete being is worthy of the worship. LA ILAHA ILLALLAH means that the best of ideals and attainments belong to Allah and there is not another being like the Almighty. ALLAHU Akbar means all the sciences of leading to discovery about Allah will be complete and end with the uniqueness of Allah because it is impossible to describe the greatness of Allah at a comprehensible level. Therefore when a worshipper turns towards Kaaba must have the right beliefs otherwise he/she will be praying based on imaginary ideas. Based on narrations Baitul Ma’amoor is a house in the skies where angels pray. Ref: Tabatabaei, Seyed Mohammed Hussain, Al Mizan Tafseer Ul Qur'an, Vol.19, Page 6,2 points -

Death
Ashvazdanghe and one other reacted to Flying_Eagle for a topic
No, not like that, When people used to die in the way of Allah (عزّ وجلّ). People in old times used to say he is died, like he is finished, gone forever. Allah (عزّ وجلّ) said: "They may be dead to you but Allah (عزّ وجلّ) has rewards for them and they are living in other world and enjoy food as well". In Qur'an, there are various verses, where death of unbelievers is mentioned. In such verses, Allah says: "When angels come to them and chastise them at death and ask them why they unbelieved, they say they were forced to, so angels ask them if that was the case why didn't you go to safer place". When Allah (عزّ وجلّ) means dead, he means He (عزّ وجلّ) would not listen to them forever and hence, they should consider themselves as nothing.2 points -

Diaz and one other reacted to Flying_Eagle for a topic
I tell you why. There are three types of people who are against the role of Iran. 1. Tribes who allied with ISIS and Daesh and now saying their country is ravaged as they get money. 2. Anti-Maraja forces who do not want to see Shia as united and act as a single body. So, they hired some bogus Shias made some fake al-Yamani and some British Shia and they are working to weak the Muslims inside by making groups and inciting them against each other and for that they get funding from United States and United Kingdom. 3. And some Arab Nationalists who think that they are superior than Persians so it was good that daesh should ravage their country and America should colonize it but Persia nooooooooooooo, they are Ajamis lolz. Iranians are not interested to live in Iraq, they will stay till they are satisfied that Iraq would not be a war zone again and threaten the peace inside Iran. No any country could stay for long, if their people become strong. So, Iran will eventually leave Iraq when it is politically and militarily strong to take care of its borders.2 points -
Abu Musa al-Ashari
Mortadakerim and one other reacted to Flying_Eagle for a topic
Historically speaking, Abu Musa al-Ashari had a suspicious character. Though some people say that he was only a scholar and not a shrewd politician, yet they just have fallen to the words of Amr-ibn-Aas who said to him when he was called as dog by Abu Musa Ashari: "You are like a donkey upon whom books are laid". However, in my view, he was very clever person and disobedient to Caliph of his time, Imam Ali (عليه السلام). When Imam Ali (عليه السلام) became Caliph, He (عليه السلام) sent a letter to him to immediately relinquish the charge and come back to Medina. However, delegation of Kufa came to Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and said to him: "We do not want anyone else except Abu Musa Ashari". And, instead of relinquishing the charge, he waited with what answer delegation comes as it was the order of the Imam but instead of doing that he remained in Kufa as silent. And, stopped people from aiding Imam Ali (عليه السلام) from helping him uprooting Syrian rebellion to such an extent that Imam Ali (عليه السلام) had to come to Kufa and relinquish him and designate it as Capital. On the issue when there were hukm appointed to solve the issue of Caliphate between Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and Muwawiya. Imam Ali (عليه السلام) wanted Malik-e-Ashtar or Abdullah Ibn Abbas as his wakil. But again people of Kufa resisted against Imam Ali (عليه السلام) and asked him to appoint Abu Musa Ashari as his wakil. Imam Ali (عليه السلام) never wanted this but since people were so blasphemous that they even said to wage war against Imam Ali (عليه السلام), Imam Ali (عليه السلام) thought that instead of fighting at two fronts, lets tell the world that the request for which Muwawiya raised Qur'an on spears was not for peace but for buying time to flee from the nearing death. So, Abu Musa Ashari who was so shrewd to keep kufa for such time, fell to the plan of Ibn Aas and went to the people first on the request of ibn Aas and said: "We have declared that Ali and Muwawiya Must relinquish the claim to Caliphate and people select their caliph by themselves". When Ibn Aas came he said: "I agree with Abu Musa that Ali must relinquish his claim but Muwawiya should be Caliph". After this both abused each other just to tell world that they were not each other's allies. However, it was the work of Abu Musa that people in Kufa became so opposed to their own elected Caliph that they did not want to listen to him and their faith in Abu Musa Ashari shows that how deep he had worked with them and bought time for Muwawiya to regain his strength again. This is my research on Abu Musa Ashari as a Twelver and for on behalf of Twelvers, I say that he was suspicious and our Ulema do not regard him as supporter of Imam Ali (عليه السلام).2 points -

The Hijab and The 21st Century
Ashvazdanghe and one other reacted to AStruggler for a topic
@Ibn al-Hussain thank you for your detailed response. From what I understood from your posts in this thread, you argue that nowhere does it explicitly or implicitly say in the Qur'an or other Islamic texts that the head-covering component of the hijab is for modesty, chastity, or protection from male desire and etc...However, have you been able to conclude the same about the command to cover the neck-chest or the zeenah in this area? Because as for the command about the jilbab it seemed so... Below are three verses from Surah Ahzab, verses that come after verse 24:31 in the current order of the Qur'an: O wives of the Prophet! You are not like other women: if you are wary [of Allah], do not be complaisant in your speech, lest he in whose heart is a sickness should aspire; speak honourable words. (32) Stay in your houses and do not flaunt your finery like the former [days of pagan] ignorance. Maintain the prayer and pay the zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostle. Indeed Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification. (33) O you who have faith! Do not enter the Prophet’s houses for a meal until you are granted permission, without hanging around for it to be readied. But enter when you are invited, and disperse when you have taken your meal, without cozying up for chats. Such conduct on your part offends the Prophet, and he is ashamed of [asking] you [to leave]; but Allah is not ashamed of [expressing] the truth. When you ask [his] womenfolk for something, do so from behind a curtain. That is more chaste for your hearts and theirs. You should not offend the Apostle of Allah, nor may you ever marry his wives after him. Indeed that would be a grave [sin] with Allah. (53) Looking at the bolded part of verse 33 above and considering that it comes right after verse 32, and also looking at the bolded text of verse 53, can it not be said that the laws pertaining to the concealment of the women in Islam actually do have to do with modesty and protection from male desire? It talks about how women should not speak in a pleasant/soft way to prevent men from becoming "excited" and then right after it talks about how the women should be staying in the house and not showing off their fineries. The fact that this command of concealing the physical elements of the women (the women themselves and their fineries) comes right after the mention of men and the sickness in their hearts and their desire, would it not be reasonable to say that the physical concealment of the women in Islam is also because of reasons regarding modesty and "safety" from male desire. There's also the story of Prophet Musa (a) and Prophet Shuayb's (a) daughter and the description of how she walked to Prophet Musa...All these things may not be about the hair-covering of women, but these examples in the Qur'an all do have to do with women concealing or adjusting some aspect of their physical selves (or in other words, the female hijab) and all this does seem to point towards the cause of modesty and not inciting male desire towards them... We know that based on the ahadith as well, our scholars have included covering the hair as part of the full command of the hijab. So, then can we not draw a connection between the hair-covering component of the hijab to modesty too. If the other components of the hijab (covering the chest, hiding zeenah, speaking in a soft voice, staying at home, walking in a specific way) seem to have some connection to modesty, then wouldn't it be likely that the hair-covering component of the hijab also has some connection with modesty and not attracting male desire as well (even if this isn't the primary purpose of it)... Anyway, I understand that the verses I quoted above speak to the wives of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). However, I take it that the lessons in the verses are for all women.2 points -

Fears over Muslim parents withdrawing children from 'non-halal' flu vaccine
aaaz1618 and one other reacted to PureExistence1 for a topic
As salaamun aleikum, My take? Because for the most part, people are ignorant. They don't bother to look at the ingredients and what's in their food or how some of those unpronounceable and unheard of ingredients may affect a person's health, they don't look at what's in vaccines and how like someone else mentioned, how those things compounded can endup messing with the immune system especially in little children.. I mean seriously, is it really necessary to inject a newborn baby with a vaccination for Hepatitis C, something that's only transmissible through IV drug use or sex?? Heck, most people don't even know what's going on with their own bodies when they get sick and don't ask the right questions when they go to a doctor. They just go in there say "this hurts", the doctor tells them to take a medication and they leave. End of story. They don't bother to ask what caused what's wrong, what can I do to solve this without taking prescription medications, if I take the prescription medication what are the side effects, will this medication interact with anything I'm already taking? What are the side effects? What about problems with this med and my supplements? A lot of medications even interact with simple foods, like grapefruit for example. Many people don't step back and ask about these things. People just don't learn about things in life. So my answer to this question is simply people being ignorant. It's a major epidemic and I don't really know what the cause of it is but it's very frustrating to have to deal with. It would be interesting to hear what our Scholars say about this subject. There's probably some flexibility in the matter, kind of like how Sistani made gelatin okay because he says it's gone through some kind of a process that makes it not the same anymore, kind of like the same thing that happens with wine vinegar, it becomes not wine anymore so therefore it's permissible.. I don't know, to be honest, I'm more worried about the chemicals and garbage that's in there before I'm worried about the pork aspect of it, but that's just me. I don't take vaccinations for anything, and I haven't for years and I can't remember the last time I got sick with the flu, and I live in a highly populated area with people who don't have good hygiene, which is the majority of the population wherever you go. People are nasty and they don't wash their hands and they do nasty things and they put their hands in nasty places, then they pretty much touch everything they come in contact with, from anything we see on the shelves at the grocery store, in the produce section, two hands and rails and shopping carts and anywhere people can touch they do, so yeah, it's not as if I'm existing on an island and I'm not exposed to people who are spreading germs everywhere... Despite all this, Al hamdu lillah, I haven't gotten sick for whatever the reason is, so I don't see a personal reason to take vaccinations for myself. I know this is a touchy subject for a lot of people especially some on shiachat so I'm going to leave it at that. W/s2 points -

That sounds so animalistic! We females do have brains that can counteract our hormones. Girls brought up in religious families with modest dress (Jewish, Christian and Muslim), would be shy to expose their skin. So saying that women do that is not correct, at least you should say some women tend to show off or expose themselves. I also disagree that women do this skin exposing when they are ovulating. Ovulation can cause pain in the ovary and also headache, so some women never get pregnant because they think they are ill at that time and would avoid their husband.2 points
