This is classic orientalism: This magazine is trying to fetishize the hijab for a deranged male audience. According to Linda Sarsour, this magazine actually contacted four hijabis for their piece. Three turned it down, but Noor took the opportunity. So the magazine was not interested in her, they were interested in sexualizing the hijab. For someone who has made "modesty" her number one issue, she shouldn't be flaunting it in that magazine and her selfies. Everyone knows who Hugh Hefner is, everyone knows what the bunny represents. This magazine has done nothing but objectify women over the years. Her feature has redirected countless Muslims to a pornographic page. Noor wants to be the first hijabi mainstream anchor. But is the hijab just a fashion statement? Why sell out to the devil? In conclusion, she should not be namecalled or threatened. But I sure hope this is not the future of Muslim women in the West. I actually followed Noor's career for years, thinking that her goal was noble. But the constant selfies with makeup, hair, and tight clothes annoyed me, and I later realized that she was not particularly talented either.

    Thoughts 2016-2017 (Archives)

Cute but annoying: my 18 month old loves letters, but his favorite is the letter "M". He likes to sit on my lap while I'm looking at my phone, and whenever he sees an "M" he calls out "emmmmmmm-uh!" and excitedly taps it, wreaking all kinds of havoc on whatever I'm trying to read, watch, or type. He knows several other letters too, but he only gets really excited about "M".

This isn't the actions and nature of a Muslim woman. The hijab is already being sexualised enough as it is and this is just adding fuel to the fire. I pray that Allah (swt) guides her, its so sad.

Emerald (Zamurrad) is my #1 favourite gem, but getting a real, high quality, non lab-grown, non blood one costs several thousands of pounds for even the cheapest ones. Imam Ali (as) said that Ruby (yaqoot) and Zamurrad (emerald) gurantee the rizq of the wearer

MashAllah , Bohat Bohat Mubarik ho! She is adorable <3 , You have a little princess to spoil !! May Allah bless her with good fortune and strong Imaan. You could name her 'Sumana' after mother of Imam Al Jawad al Taqi (a.s) or 'Sabeeka' , mother of Imam Ali Naqi (a.s)

Taking only 6 units this semester?

It took me 13 years to get a "4-year" degree. Nobody but you knows what you can do. I took lighter course load because I was always working 2-3 jobs. I had semesters and even years off because life got in the way. I can't even imagine trying to work through full time with a significant illness. The fact that you're still going it's a win. Do what works for you and don't let the criticism of others (even your mom) bring you down.

    Using the left hand

^^^^ This is how l changed eating from left to right: Hold a fork in your left hand and another in your right. Every move you make with your left do the same with your right at the same time -only your right hand is working with the food. I completely changed over in 1 and 1/2 meals. Do the same with spoons.

Brother @Faruk, I think you edited your thread since I first read it. You asked was Ali only considered one of the first rightly guided Calipha because of Imam Ahmed? No, he was always considered as one of the rightfully guided because Ali's rein was within the prophesied 30 years. The Prophet (SAW) said to the nearest meaning that in 30 years after his departure from the world will be rightly guided Caliphate, and then will come dynastic rule. There, is however a dispute among Sunni Ulama whether Hassan can be considered as one of the rightfully guided. Many say he isn't because he retired, while the minority say otherwise. I'm with the latter.

    Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman

Salam, Why in Sunni Ahaadith collections are these three Always mentioned in this order without Imam Ali a.s. as the fourth? Why are only these three considered to be the preservers of the sunnah without Imam Ali a.s. being mentioned? Check the hadith about the ring of Rasulullah s.a.w.a.s. for example: The hadith about the quake of Uhud: Why only these three all the time without Imam Ali a.s.? Isn't he a.s. one of your rashidun caliphs and if Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman preserved the sunnah then what did Imam Ali a.s. according to you?

Taking only 6 units this semester?

I think he means that you and Notme have smartly chosen the best plan for yourselves. Yes, a lighter course load and taking summer classes is a good method. I have a family member who worked full time and only took one class each semester. He took 10 years to get his bachelor degree. He never regretted it.

Tuesday 27th September 2016/ 24th Dhul Hijjah 1437 Eid al Mubahala I start by congratulating the Imam of our time, may Allah (swt) hasten his reappearance, the Muslim Ummah and the whole of humanity on the day of Mubahala. Days like this should be a joyous reminder to us all that no matter what hardships we may face, the party of Allah (swt) will always come out victorious. Although the day of my departure is getting nearer and nearer, it still feels so far away. My mind wonders countless times during the day to the blessed golden domes of Iraq. I can't wait to kiss the ground of Iraq, feel the breeze through my chador and feel the dust of Karbala on my cheeks inshallah. With Muharram fast approaching, I have been busy preparing myself spiritually for this momentous month by planning what amaal I want to do each day. This is something I cannot recommend enough because it prepares you to get the best out of this month. These are some of things I want to include in my amaal diary over the course of the month inshallah: . Fasting, though this shouldn't be a priority and should be avoided on 10th Muharram because this is what the enemies of Ahlulbayt (as) would do. Fasting is particularly recommended on 1st and 3rd Muharram. . x100 Salawat and x100 Lanah daily . Ziyarat Ashura, Ziyarat Warthia, Ziyarat of the martyrs of Karbala, Abu Fadl Abbas (as), Imam Hussain (as), Bibi Zainab (sa) and Bibi Umm Kulthum (sa). . Recite duas - Dua of Imam Hussain (as) on the day of Ashura, Dua Tawassul, Dua Kumayl, Dua Nudba, Dua Ahad etc. . Each day read the narrations of what took place (specially for the 10 nights and the events of Sham). . Watch majalis on You Tube and attend the mosque everyday So for example this is what the first day looks like for me: About 4:30am: Eat Suhoor, pray Tahajjud and console the Ahlulbayt (as) About 5am: Pray Fajr During the morning: Salawat and Lanah, reading About 1pm: Zhuhr (+ Asr if combined) Afternoon: Ziyarat Ashura, 2 rakat prayer for 1st Muharram, Ziyarat of Bibi Zainab (sa), You Tube majalis Evening: Attend the masjid, pray Maghrib and Isha, iftar, listen to the majalis I pray these days will be purifying for us all and that our love of Ahli Muhammad (sawa) will push us to become better individuals. .

I am normally not a food nationalist. I can't tell you how many times Pakis try to drag me into this "debate." At the end of the day, everyone should concede that our tastes are shaped mostly by upbringing. But with respect to rice, I am completely unforgiving. Nothing is better than Iranian rice. I am referring to the plain rice, not biryani or estamboli polo or any of that stuff. In plain rice, there is no contest: aroma, color, taste. Iranian rice beats them all. I like this one

    why Shia hate A'isha ?

SubhanAllah! If only some of our brothers could understand the depth of this simple phrase. To clear the air regarding her "participation" in the battle, let us not forget the following bit. Ibn Habban narrated in al-Thiqat that ‘Aisha wrote to Abu Musa al-Ash’ari and to ‘Ali in al-Kufa: “You have witnessed the events leading to the murder of ‘Uthman and I have decided to go and fix the matters between the people…” ‘Ali then sent al-Qa’qa’ ibn ‘Amr al-Tamimi to ‘Aisha and he said: “O mother, what brings you to these lands?” she said: “my son I have come to settle matters between the people.” And after the war of al-Jamal ‘Ali told ‘Aisha: “May Allah forgive you” she said: “And you, I only wished to fix the affairs.”

Ws, For many years Sunnis didn't consider Imam Ali (as) as a rightly guided caliph that's why you don't find him mentioned as much as the other three. In addition Muawiyah (la) and Yazid (la) bribed scholars to delete his virtues out of hadith literature.

So I decided to clean my silver jewellery today. These are the things I wear most often: 1. Durre najaf ring, someone brought it back from me from iraq, it's very close to my heart and I wear it almost daily. 2. ferozah ring: brought this last year, I have been looking to buy a nice ferozah for ages,so until the time someone reads this and buys me one from iran or somewhere this is all I have, it was quite badly tarnished , so much that I had given up wearing it. 3. A yemeni aqeeq set in in pendant and 4th one was just a silver alloy ring, least favourite of all. Here is the before picture : Now dirty as they might look , it's not like I never tried cleaning them before, lol, I had washed them with soap and water plenty of times and a few times using vinegar and lemon juice but it din't work obviously so I decided to try something new. I boiled a cup of water , added a three inch long strip of aluminium foil, put my rings and pendant in and added a teaspoonful of baking soda.... THERE WAS A PUFF OF SMOKE ...okay I am being over dramatic here, there was a some effervescence and 10 seconds later my rings came out looking like this: I was worried about the damaging stones so I didn't leave them longer for 10/15 secs and I did't rub them at all, just rinsed them afterwards. The Ferozah ring is sparkling!! the only think that didn't clean well was the pendant, so I am not so sure sure if it's good quality silver... but I am happy overall that I will be able to wear them again.
