  1. A prominent Iranian cleric has censured Boko Haram over its kidnapping of hundreds of schoolgirls in Nigeria, stating that the militant Takfiri group has nothing to do with Islam. Speaking in the holy city of Qom on Sunday, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi called Boko Haram militants a group of savage people who have nothing to do with Islam. The Ayatolalh warned that Boko Haram is helping Islam’s enemies with their anti-religion propaganda. The senior Iranian cleric also hailed Sunni scholars of the Muslim world for denouncing the terrorist actions of the Takfiri group. Nigeria and its

SHAYKH IBN TAYMIYYAH VS THE SAHAABAH AND TABI'IN: ------------------------------------------------- In the Name of Allah (s.w.t), The Benificient, Ever-Merciful, and May the Best Blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w) and Pure Family - Assalamoo 'Alaykoom wa Rahmatu Allahee (s.w.t), wa Barakatuhu - ** al-Shaykh ibn Taymiyyaah stated that a lot of the Sahabaah were in fact Nasibees', and that Imam Alee (a.s) was very much hated among the Sahaabah'. WHAT SHAYKH IBN TAYMIYAAH SAID - The fourth issue is that Allāh had informed him (the Prophet) that He would create love for those who believe

  12. Just imagine African leaders gathering in Tehran or Ankara or Cairo or Riyadh for the meeting and there Muslim countries offering to send in their troops to help the government of Nigeria. Wouldn't that be a proactive approach for the otherwise slumbering Ummah? But this is something that never happens. When Malala Yousafzai was hit by Taliban bullets and luckily survived she was flown to the UK for security reasons. Canada and France also offered to host her and some other Western countries which I don't remember the names of. But what I absolutely remember that not a single Muslim country of

  16. @Marbles: For the most part I agree, but I also think you are being a tad harsh. For starters, even in Nigeria, vigilante organizations have formed to combat extremists like Boko Haram, but it's very scary when you are dealing with monsters like this who have almost no conscience. If you have scars from surviving one of their attacks, it's just a signal to them that they didn't finish you off well enough the first time. When someone insults the Prophet (pbuh), this is usually something that can unite both moderates and extremists (and even then most of the people you see in the streets probabl

  20. Colonialists had colonized the whole world- every nation, people, and religion. It was not only a dark era for Muslims but for all. So using colonialism as an excuse or an explanation does no one no good... specially the Muslims. Take a look at India and Pakistan- same people and same language and same circumstances but yet two completely different reactions to colonialsm. One is on its way to become fully independent and living, almost, upto its ideals, while the other one is regressing back to stone ages. Take a look at Ukraine and Syria- both countries in somewhat state of anarchy. We see

  21. Looks like the problem lies in your understanding. I in no way berated the cleric but merely acknowledged the existence of dark forces within the Islamic community. Believe me denying or blaming the US or Israel will get us no where. Remember the meeting in France few days ago hosting African leaders on the issue? That was smart and beneficial, not for Nigerian girls, but for France's PR campaign. A smart move in the Islamic world would have been for many organizations getting together and denouncing such acts. It would not have only helped the image of Islam but also would have reduced imme

  23. No the real problem in the Muslim world is stupidity & denial. Now without acting like a freak- arent those groups all Muslims? Denial never solves anything if you are after solution. Acknowledging a problem is the first step towards solving that problem. Denying a problem is the first step towards prolonging that problem. Write ^ that down.

  27. Wisdom Lion, brother, I don't mean to be offensive but you really are being a fanatic. You are the one who deserves to be banned, for all your name-calling. The ultimate purpose of Islam as the Prophet's words indicate is to perfect our etiquette and morals, not being obsessed with bashing anyone and everyone who doesn't agree. Please try to be more open-minded and accept that others may have different opinions after actual thought and analysis. There is not always a hidden agenda. Even if others reach the wrong conclusions, they don't deserve ridicule. You have not shown the construct

  29. The article is not bad. It comes to what you want to use as a definition of a marja. If you want to use this as a term for a mujtahid whose level of scholarship has passed peer review and achieved a certain status, and who others can turn to for advice, there's nothing really to object to. If you're including other roles such as being an administrator of the affairs of certain dependent people and of financial trusts and being a judge in court, then there are some textual evidences that might be brought to argue against it.

  30. Could a cow talk? Many stories in the Quran have been narrated regarding the people of Moses, but what kind of lessons are to be learned from such old fashioned narrations? What would be the answer if someone tells us that 1/3 of the Quranic verses are history? They would say that they would hardly ever benefit us in our everyday lives! For instance the well-known story which talks about the cow of the Israelites! As it is narrated in a nutshell: when one of them was killed they referred to Moses to solve the resulting conflict by asking him who the murderer was. Moses was inspired by Allah to

  31. 1)Shias believe the Quran of today is complete and preserved by Allah. 2)It's Sunnis who believe it's alterated.Take for example the Sunni view of abrogating/abrogated verses:while Shias believe all verses, whether abrogated or still valid, are present in the Quran,Sunnis actually mantain that there were verses originally written down but not present in today's Quran such as the one about stoning adulterers which was under Umar's bed when a nasty goat came into his house and ate it! There is also one about breast-feeding which got lost in a similar way, according to Sunnis. So,for you guys the Qur

  32. Couldnt have said it better. In this world of action we blame our inaction and its consequences on West or Israel or Colonialism. Its the easier path I suppose. We are so mesmerized by the West that we only examine and investigate their actions... nothing we do counts or even examined. In Toronto even a school was named after Malala. She was even made to be the role model for girls her age. In Afghanistan she was merely dismissed as a big mouth girl who had what was coming to her. I believe that us Muslims have what has been coming to us due to our double stds, inaction, misinterpretation of

  33. It's tough, but like Fatima Hussain said, focus on the eyes when talking face to face. We all look, but it's the second glance, or the prolonged glance that's the problem. Next time you see something arrousing think of something completely unarousing, like carpet, or concrete, or poor starving kids in Africa. I think that'll help wipe the dirty thoughts out of your mind. Eventually you just get used to them and it's almost like you don't even notice them. What's funny is how so many men dictate how women should act as if they knew more about being a woman than women themselves. But

    What's Your Ethnicity?

I'm not even sure what ethnicity means. My ancestors were probably of mostly various European origin. There is strong evidence of relatively recent German input and hundreds of years ago an Englishman. Family names indicate a reasonable probability of some Welsh and possibly some Russian. Nothing else is known. But isn't ethnicity also related to how and where a person is raised; Where his roots are, so to speak? I was born in the Midwest to a mother who was raised in a military family. I was raised in Appalachia (district 12 if you relate better to dystopian fiction than to US geography). I'v
