(bismillah) (salam) Dear Brothers and Sisters, It strikes me that I became a member of this fine forum in September 2006, which is now almost seven-and-a-half years. "Time flies," as they say. I have never been a very active member here, nor I have I posted very much. But I have learned a lot as a lurker over the years and I appreciate the way this community has remained on the Internet and served to connect a great variety of people. So, I would like to offer my thanks to this forum and its members. May the next seven years be even better for you and yours! (wasalam)7 points

Who Is Fatima Zahra(A.s)'s Imam
Pearl178 and 3 others reacted to .equilibrium. for a topic
All the 'rebuttals' from our sunni brothers here are but red herrings, avoiding the main issue at hand which is firmly cemented in their Sahihs. Allah’s Messenger (SAAWS) said, "He who sees from his ruler something he dislikes, let him be patient with him, for he who splits away from the Jamaa’ah by a handspan and then dies, dies a death of Jaahiliyyah" and in a narration, "then he has thrown off the yoke of Islaam from his neck." Hadith - Al-Bukhari and Muslim, and other narration by at-Tirmidhee (no. 2867) and Ahmad (4/130) We can conclude from history that; Abu Bakr was the temp4 points -
How Music Can Get To You?
a human and 3 others reacted to Inspiring Eyes for a topic
Music is drug. Its something that people resort to when they cant handle the reality around them. The lyrics, the melody ,the beat all contribute in creating a Lalaland for the person, causing them to fantasize, and this same fantasizing is what intoxicates a person's morals and value, it strips them of their spirituality. Not only that, music makes the human mind create an ideal image of him/herself, therefore its blocking the reality around them and who they really are.4 points -

(bismillah) (salam) The prayer of Sanam-e-Quraish (the idols of Quraish) is a very authentic supplication of Amir-ul-Momineen Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib as and it has been recognised by all renowned historians as such. It has been narrated by Abdullah bin Abbas ra that one night I went to the Masjid-e-Nabbivi saww tooffer my late-night prayers and saw Amir-ul-Momineen as offering his supplications. I decided to sit in a corner and listen to Mola Aliasws’s recitation of Quran and prayers. (salam) Ayatullah Wahid Khorasani. At 93 years of age he still lectures in the harram every morning, and every other day around Asr - except weekends. Such dedication and selflessness, really puts you to shame. Plus he has a cute smile :) Another awesome scholar, Ayatullah Syed Madadi. Wednesday nights they usually have a discussion on rijal and afterwards an informal gathering with very few people. It's a really humbling experience listening to him. Ya, no smell at all. I could sleep with it under my pillow and it was not tinned either. It was Durian. It's a shame I did not take photos. I'm guessing they probably treated the fruits before exporting because these fruits are only available in hypermarkets - they obviously don't want to drive people away because of its smell. Or as my friend mentioned, the Durians coming in this country are usually from Thailand which maybe lacking in smell and taste unlike the ones in Tanzania where he ate and swore it was so good. Western Media Influence On Non Western Ppl, How?
Bint Al Zahra and one other reacted to Blueline for a topic
In my opinion Western Media is dying. The internet is setting minds free. However, the "mass media" in the sense of movies, pop culture, mainstream western news, etc. is very seductive and powerful because lots of intelligent, money-hungry, power-hungry people have deep experience with it. They use profound psychological tactics ruthlessly. They know how to manipulate the subconscious mind, inflame desires for sex and materialism, play on status anxiety, and so on. A good documentary on mass media and psychological maipulation is "The Century of the Self." I recommend it.2 points -

"Only to make you happy" ?? Who can believe in a God that wants us to kill? Is there anyone who does not see this as the devil's work? I mean if I was a parent whose child was going to die because I could not feed him... I would rather he die an honest death of starvation, not a death of killing others. Is it just easier... a quick death rather than a long painful one... where parents do not have to watch their children dying... where it is easier to convince themselves that they do something good? I will label it as Cold War hangover. There were clever people back in the '90s who said that Russia would not become another country carved in the image of the US and that it would reassert itself as soon as it gains some of its confidence back. Putin is just making it happen. Whereas US and allies just as usual are wallowing in self righteous rage.2 points -

If her committing zina is not proven shar`i, and her husband had consummated the marriage with her, and their divorce was ordinary (not khulu`) then she is entitled to the full mahr. Not giving her the dowry would be infringing on her rights in this case. My recommendation is to give the dowry, and learn from the mistake - it will end the animosity between the two families, and the they'll be able to move on. This is another black mark on arranged/forced marriages: don't marry someone you don't know, and don't promise a large dowry to a woman you've never heard of.1 point -

Rejecting hadith is rejecting the sunnah of rasulillah and his ahlulbayt(as) and rejecting their sunnah is disobeying Allah(swt), hence it brings them out of the fold of islam. Allah(swt) clearly stated in the noble Quran to obey the messenger. The only way to do that in our age is via the authentic hadith1 point

How Many People Actually Wake Up To Pray?
Tany reacted to Waiting for HIM for a topic
Stupidity. Of course jin would love you to pray because being a Sunni every time you wake up for fajr, you pray your salat in the sunnah of muawiah (and in opposition of the sunnah of Prophet) by hand folded, making haram sajda on a piece of cloth (sajda has to be done on mud or earthen material or straw but not on the fabric), reading surah of Quran without Bismillah and so on. So Iblees would be calling in parties to have you pray your wrong salat.1 point -

Where Is Allah? "there" Or "everywhere" - Which?
.equilibrium. reacted to IbnSohan for a topic
If I understood the Imam Ridha answer that bro Qa'im posted above, Imam Ridha said that Allah created the where without a where and created the how without a how.... Which means that "where " is a creation of Allah, by saying that Allah is everywhere, we are restricting Him to His creation "the where". But due to lingual restrictions and due to the limits of our brains, we do not know better than saying Allah is everywhere, thus we say it metaphorically.1 point -
