Question To Lebanese People
Blissful and 2 others reacted to asphyxiated for a topic
You probably won't get much hate around here. The Shi'a of Lebanon typically do not express hate for Syria or its people. If you look at today's socio-political landscape, most of the hate comes from a large segment of the Christian community, as well as the Sunnis aligned with Harriri. The Druze will do what Junblatt tells them to do and we know that changes frequently. He was Syria's biggest supporter for decades, before turning against in the during the so-called "Cedar Revolution." As far as your opinion goes, there is nothing wrong with it. As Muslims, however, we are required to reject forms of nationalism. Nevertheless, Imam Ali once said that a human being is either your brother in religion or your equal in humanity. As you observed, Syrians (especially those from Western Syria) and Lebanese are very similar, not only culturally and linguistically, but genetically as well. So in many respects the Lebanese are just like Syrians, but in other ways they are not. I want nothing but good relations with Syrians as we confront the real threat to the region: Israel. There are many political issues Lebanese have with Syrians, such as its military presence prior to 2005 (although, this is quite ironic) and what they perceive to be meddling on the part of the Syrian government. Ultimately, many believe that Syria wants to absorb Lebanon (i.e., a Greater Syria that includes Lebanon). Much of the hate reflects successful attempts by Israel to disunite the Lebanese and Muslim peoples and turn them on one another. This was part of its campaign during the Lebanese Civil War and it was very successful. At the end of the day, many Lebanese want independence and this includes independence from Syria. They are under the impression that Syria won't let Lebanon have its independence. One of the problems for Lebanon is that it depends on a large influx of Syrian workers to do work the Lebanese are too lazy to do, such as construction. In addition, if Lebanon truly wants security (from Israel), this will need to be achieved in cooperation with Syria. Unfortunately, a lot of Lebanese are stupid enough to let nationalism blind their judgment. In my opinion, Lebanese nationalism is the most ironic thing about Lebanon.3 points -

Due To The Breakdown In Marriage?
ImAli and 2 others reacted to Saintly_Jinn23 for a topic
Mkay, looks like Saintly Jinn gotta school ya'llz on Japan. Here goes. The article is generalizing both ways and doesn't understand the problem fully. It sort of just pulls this 1990's mother's excuse for her child's behavior: "It's these damn video games" The problem is that the Japanese have become very capitalistic since the end of the second World War, because of this there's a heavy focus on individual success in the financial world. The reason why marriage and fertility is dropping in Japan is because Japanese men generally see women as getting in the way of things. Why waste your time and energy that you could be using to work extra hours and get that big promotion taking care of this woman that costs more money than she makes? This is a common mentality of single Japanese men in the business world. Even married Japanese men are known to spend little time with their wives and more time working. Many married Japanese couples are known to go as long a WHOLE YEAR without sexual intercourse, in great part due to the workaholic of both the men and women. There are also two facts to remember: 1. Japan, despite the picture the Guardian article states, has one of the most thriving sex industries in the world. Only second behind the United States' sex industry. And this is not just all cartoon porn, but also prostitutes and pornographic actors, models, and actresses. In fact, pornographic movie stars and prostitutes are probably more socially accepted in Japan than in the United States. If you look through a list of household tv names or stars of popular Japanese films geared toward the general public which are not pornographic, chances are you will find that many of cast or crew started their careers in the pornographic film industry. And indeed, starring in pornographic films can actually be a career booster, especially for young girls, in helping them get their start in mainstream media. However, this doesn't mean there isn't controversy as some of the older religious crowd is very upset at this growth in "rampant sexuality." 2. Japan is one of the highest suicide prone nations in the world. Suicide is actually the leading cause of death for young men in the entire country. This is mainly due to the social pressures of scholastic and financial success. Many young men are incapable of handling the stress of school and work, but feel unbelievable amount of pressure to succeed in these areas. The pressure can mount up so high that many young men kill themselves through various means when they feel their grades start to slip or can't put in enough work to get to a top position in business due to feelings of shame and failure. By the time these young men start to crack, they have already isolated themselves from other people, socially and/or physically, and thus have no one to console them through the hardship of their failures to succeed and are too ashamed to even admit their failures and feel it is better to just end it. Basically, the reason Japanese men are not getting married as much isn't so much that they aren't interested in sexuality, but rather because married life is just another stress on top of stress for them and often calls them to sacrifice time, effort, and finances they feel is better used trying to get ahead in Japan's business world. Crystal meth is gaining popularity as a drug for Japanese men because it helps them work longer hours without any sleep, sometimes for days on end. Japanese men are finding more interest in sexual desires being satisfied by a booming sex industry full of prostitutes and viritual women who will generally just do what the men want as this is a quick means to satisfy themselves without the stresses or financial burdens of married life. The thing is the sex industry satisfies their fantasies better than their wives, doesn't cost as much, and doesn't take nearly as much time, thus it doesn't get as much "in the way," of school or work. Religion is not as big as it used to be in Japan, in fact it has dropped considerably since the end of the second World War. Part of the reason is due to a perceived corruption of the Buddhist and Shinto establishments. Both religion's adherents in Japan has dropped quite a bit due to Japanese people feeling that many monks and priests have become corrupt and untrustworthy. There is however, a loose adherence to a kind of "folk religion" or just general spirituality based on age old cultural customs. For example, certain festivals of the local Shinto and Buddhist communities that have a religious significance might be attended to by Japanese citizens who don't even identify with any religion simply out of national and cultural pride. Casual sex is still pretty prominent in Japan. There are whole hotels whose sole purpose is to cater to the casual sex market where Japanese men and women go for the sole purpose of having a one night stand with someone they've just met. Japanese people can go these places, shoot the breeze with people they didn't until just then when they entered, and if they find someone they like just take them upstairs for a couple hours. Really, sexuality is on the rise in Japan, yet marital sexuality is on the steady decline. Well, the thing is the Japanese men's constant busy bee mentality has in turn created the more independent Japanese women. Because the Japanese men are becoming more uninterested in marriage and raising a family (Japan is currently seeing a lack of reproduction that is making the country more underpopulated) this has in turn prompted the women to learn to better take care of themselves where otherwise previously the men would have handled things for them. This is why the Japanese women seem "too picky" because they becoming more self reliant apart from the men that the men must offer a lot more for them so that they are a benefit to the women and not another burden. Just as the men have adopted this attitude of "She'll just be more trouble than she's worth, my time is better spent working," so have the women. And this "pickiness" that has upset the men, ironically, has happened because of their neglect of Japanese women whom, in the absence of men's presence in their lives, have to had learn to survive on their own and have thus learned many of the skills needed to reap the benefits that the men had previously been the main providers of for their sake. In order to survive, the women have had to basically do what the men did for them because the men aren't around, but the men aren't around because they don't feel as needed or wanted. So it's this weird cycle where the men don't want a woman to burden them, but yet when they finally want a woman, the women don't need them as much, which just makes them neglect them even more.3 points -

Question About Shia/sunna/wahhabiye
Muntaqim Force and one other reacted to Shia_Debater for a topic
insha'Allah I will try to answer your questions, if you dont understand anything I say just ask and I will try to make it easier to understand :) Muslims (some) do not like them because they are very extreme, they bomb places and claim that this is ok for them to do, for example we shia go to shrines of our imams (as), wahabbis bomb these shrines and say they are trying to stop us from doing shirk (even though visiting the shrine isnt shirk) and they use this as a justifiable reason to bomb the place. They also desecrated the graveyard which holds the graves of many important people, including Imam Hassan (as) (the grandson of the prophet and 2nd imam) Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as) (6th imam) and also ironically the person whom they take as the 3rd caliph (Uthman ibn affan). The whole point of religion is to follow it as best as you can, but not to be extreme, being extreme leads to bad cases. For example if someone is so extreme about something they will end up blinding themselves to everything else, as you can see these people are being extreme saying this is bid'ah (innovation) that is shirk (associating partners with Allah (swt)) and then say they can kill people and do this and that because they are trying to wipe out bid'ah and shirk. Ironically these same people speak about how zionists take over palestine and force palestinian people out of the country when it is their right to live there and practice their faith etc.. and then these same people try to enforce sharia law in the UK (how they think they will manage that Allah (swt) knows). Lets imagine you badly want to buy a product scale of 1-100 1 - You dont want the product at all 25 - You arent bothered whether you get it or not 50 - You want the product but if you dont get it it doesnt matter 75 - You want the product badly 100 - You want the product so much you cant stop thinking about it and are feeling upset because you cant get it 200 - You go and rob the store and kill a few innocent people just to get this product Wahabbis are 200 on that scale, they are so extreme that they end up damaging others with their beliefs, and also their beliefs are based on lies aswell which makes it worse for example they say keep the trousers above the ankle when praying because below the ankle is in hell fire or something like that (this is made up hadeeth they follow) and then once a salafi took a picture and others were saying "akhi pull up your trousers above your ankles" ... this is how extreme they are for this small thing, imagine how extreme they are for other things. Yes wahabbi's are an extreme form of sunnis, however the average sunni is usually influenced by wahabbis, some wahabbis also dont say they are wahabbi or sunni or any other name and this can be decieving for example zakir naik always same "i am muslim" now sunnis get influenced by him and his beliefs when they do not represent the majority of the beliefs such as him praising the killer of Imam Hussein (as) People despise saudi arabia because the way they treat people is shocking, and the leaders are a bunch of suck ups to the west. They dont let women drive, they dont let women vote, they have stupid rules, and they think by doing this they are upholding the message of Islam, and at the same time they are making muslims look bad. People look at saudi arabia and think this is where the Prophet (pbuh) lived, this is the place which represents muslims, and they see how much of a backwards place it is and think that Islam is bad. I am not sure about all muslims, however me personally I hate saudi government because of their treatment of other muslims, and because they are suck ups to the west. And yes saudi arabian regime is wahabbi regime. This is not justified, they do this because they are extremists (and this links back with what I said about its not good to be too extreme) The Qur'an says killing one person unjustly equals to killing the whole of mankind, these people are either 1) So extreme they think killing disbelievers is ok 2) Trying to make muslims look bad on purpose and are funded by someone with higher authority i.e. CIA Shia's have been oppressed many times in the past, and infact still are being oppressed over the world today, however this is not the reason why we dont bomb places. The reason why we dont bomb places is because this is not the true teaching of Islam, and anyone who says bombing and killing innocent people is part of Islam is saying something wrong. We are taught to always stand up against oppression and tyranny and to never oppress anyone, Our 3rd Imam (as) rose up against Yazeed (la) and stood for justice, Our 4th Imam (as) wrote a book of rights, it includes the right of your mother, father, child, ear, mouth, companion, etc.. It is the first ever book of rights to be compiled and it teaches perfect morals. Our 12th Imam (atfs) is in occultation waiting to have enough pious followers so he may come back and destroy the tyrants and establish a government of Justice whereby people can live together in peace. Our school of thought teaches to never take tyrants and oppressors as leaders. In fact I think it is only the shias who believe this, as you can see with wahabbis they take tyrants as leaders, and sunnis do too (abu bakr, umar, uthman, etc.) You are most welcome, I hope what I said made sense to you, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask :)2 points -

Let Us Curse The Liars
Waiting for HIM and one other reacted to Aabiss_Shakari for a topic
Wow amazing. Who said i compared myself with Ahl ul bayt a.s? I am slave of their slaves. You should have taken it positively. When no argument is persuading them to the right path then it is a better way to seek curse for the liars. If they have so much firm faith in these facts that Abu Bakar was legitimate caliph and Fadak was rightly taken away by Abu Bakar then they should feel no reluctance in cursing the liars. They purposely do not recognize the fact while they know the facts. This is simple test of their faith not more than that. Lastly, i am not seeking curse for the liar on the basis of my personality rather i am seeking curse for liars on the issue of faith. My personality is no where therefore, fear Allah before accusing me of insulting Ahl ul bayt a.s (Nauzbillah). Lastly, i read in probably Tafseer e Namoona that even Imam Jafar Sadiq a.s told the method of doing Mubahillah for Shias. I shall soon return with the reference.2 points -
Wife's Permission For Second Marriage

Zufa you're going to have to ask prominent scholars for relevant hadiths by sending them e-mails, letters or whatever. Question To Lebanese People
ImAli and one other reacted to asphyxiated for a topic
The Syrian army in Lebanon was hated by many and rightfully so. I don't think you can support their crimes, but then again, they were also invited to intervene in Lebanon in the 1970s. It amounted to what can be described as a power struggle between two occupying armies (Israel and Syria) throughout the Civil War and well beyond. You cannot deny that Syria has interests in Lebanon. The problem, at least for me, is deciphering the politics of the Ba'ath regime in Syria. I believe the two countries should share intelligence, but the actions of Syria's military inside Lebanon led many to revile it. Unfortunately, we know that people tend to paint broad strokes when it comes to judging others. I still maintain, and will always maintain, that efforts to unite borders against the belligerence of Israel is what the two countries need. Lebanon is essentially a paper state, which makes Syrian influence a much more sensitive matter.2 points -
Question To Lebanese People
5a49 and one other reacted to Gepetto_Zapata for a topic
I agree with "asphyxiated". However, This is most likely due to the nastiness the Syrian army were doing while they were in Lebanon... They used to humiliate people and play as lords over slaves, kidnapping and murdering people just out of suspicion, torturing for months and years without even your family knowing your whereabouts, and at many occasions for no valid reason...etc... Creating artificial turfs so that you pay them a "tax", let's say if you wanted to open a tiny coffee shop and they were around, if you don't, you're dead, your business is burned... Stories like if they saw you had a brand new nice car and it attracted their attention, the lieutenant would ask for it, would take it by force or would gun it if you disagreed... Many similar stories... Most hold grudges and I don't blame them... Also the Syrian villagers who are laborers in Lebanon, mostly illiterate, give people the impression that most Syrians are morons... Man the stuff some do, LOL, let's not even go there... Also hate increases when it's mostly these kinds who steal and commit petty crimes in a country that's harboring them... So yeah... You shouldn't only ask why Lebanese hate Syrians, because I know of many Syrians that hate Lebanese just for the heck of it. As we make fun of you in our country, so do you in yours... And that's the truth and it has been going on since biblical times... Salam2 points -

Tawheed, Bida & Q's
Murtada and one other reacted to Ali_Hussain for a topic
(wasalam) There is a difference between classical shi'ism and neo shi'ism, these things you described have hardly anything to do with classical shi'ism, and are mainly fairly recent innovations. If you are interested in shi'ism, just focus more on the ahadith and works by more classical scholars, because as you have seen, the lines between tawheed and shirk has become very thin indeed, in fact, the only thing that separates the two is the 'intention' that people say they have. When people make these kind of claims, ask them for proof, then do a little research into it, in general i have found that most of these wild claims are not back up by anything more than 'my father said so and so', or 'i heard such and such in a majlis', but when you ask for a hadith to back it, none can be produced - or if it can, it often isn't authentic, or the meaning has been twisted. please, if you have time, read a little through these links, see what you think http://www.*******.org/ http://www.revivingalislam.com/ As for bid'ah, I tend to favour the more conservative approach, however, recently I've changed my opinion (until I can get a better definition of the term) so if someone doesn't consider something to be part of islam, then I guess it isn't fair to call it bid'ah. but even with that, most shi'ites have pushed it too far, and it is clear there is too much bid'ah, but we also have the hadith that 'every innovation is heresy and every heresy leads to hell' - so bid'ah is not a good thing for us either wassalaam here are a few thread for you to read through, so you can see what i mean about the evidence to back up certain beliefs been weak2 points -

No Shia Boy Wants To Marry Girls In Medical School

hello my dear headpod, welldone!!! :) I applaude you for opening pandora's box. i was very much amused by reading many silly comments but some scholarly answers put me at peace. I want to add something else for your information, there are so many divorced female shia doctors around just because of the above mentioned reasons. and guess what i am one of them. I practiced medicine for more than 10 years. Alhamdolillah! Being a professional doctor as a female is a blessing of God. First of all I veto your statement. Believe me the men world is very much interested in female doctors. we have to accept, it is a noble profession. I got far too many proposals, unfortunately I turned them down, just because someone is not goodlooking, someone educated is old fashioned etc. Finally 10 years ago I found mr. goodlooking businessman from UK. you know what my worst mistake i didn't check his morality or religiosity. basically he was a greedy monstor and control freak. I was never happy in my marriage. i stayed 09 years with him for the sake of my child. Atlast Allah accepted my REPENTANCE as my 7 years old child told me to stay away from his dad. I got the courage and separated from the Psycho. Alhamdolillah! I cannot think of remarrying someone as i am in peace with my child. my ex has really freaked me out. I took him as Allah's curse upon me for turning down good guys. No doubt my earnings were so high due to my full time work, my ex has full control over it and you know what my last savings ended up with paying megabox lawyer's fee. Please do not rush for marriage, involve some wise people. definitly check the guy's background. say no to control freaks in the name of religion. I wish you best of luck in your search!! If you think there is enough evidence to suggest that it may be permissible, if makruh, then go ahead. Just stop torturing yourself over it, because life is too short.
