  1. Eid mubarak to you too! My birthday is really easy to remember so I don't have this problem. As for your question, I would feel disappointed because if the person truly cares about you, they would unquestionably remember dates which are important to you. I wouldn't really tell them it bothers me to be quite frank.

  2. ok guys the next person i am going to interview, is brother al mufeed its becoming less and less of secret that i have a slightly creepy fascination with this brother. we have talked on msn for around 2 years now, and there hasnt been a single time i can think of where we have talked about anything but islam. his personality, depth of knowledge and sense of humour make him mash'Allah a great teacher for me, and many others. he has done things in his life which i can only dream of doing. he is a quiet member, kind of like the silent uncle who always shows up at family functions, sitting quietly in the corner, not really talking to anyone, then when you are much older you realise he was batman or something. when he speaks though, it is always something that needs to be heard. salam yara, ya ali madad, here are my first set of questions (1) im sorry if you were hoping to keep this a secret forever, but you should have known it would be the very first thing i asked. you once flew to kuwait, and from kuwait, over several weeks/ months, you WALKED TO KARBALA. please tell us this ziarah, in as much detail as possible, right down to the number of times you scratched your head. (2) did you attend formal islamic education (in a hawza)? if so, where, who were your teachers, how long did you attend and so on? if not, where do you hope to go? (3) what do you say to those whose mission it is to stop people like us doing aza? (4) what is the best way for the youth to prepare for the awaited imam (atf)? (5) have you met any mujtahids/ marjas? can you tell us of your meetings? (6) who is hajj abbas, why must we know who he is when we go karbala? (7) how did you get the mod/ admin job at sc? how do you find it? have you ever met Ali (the owner)? (8) what is your long term goal in life? (9) how did you become an azadar of maula hussain (as) as a child, who taught you, who inspired you? (10) is it rude for a deaf person to use sign language with their mouth full of food?

  4. Salamun Alaykum Eid mubarak to every one. I have to attend the eid prayers this morning, and I have a few things to do at the masjid afterwords, so later today inshaAllah I will reply to these questions. I also wanted to say that brother MDM, you are speaking much too highly of me, and you are exaggerating, but your kindness is appreciated. May Allah grant you the blessing of being with Al-Qaim (as) when he returns.

  5. I'm a convert to Shi'ism, and I can say that 1-8 do not apply to me at all. The only one that comes close is #2, but that's because I believe politics and history is extremely relevant to religion, and to ignore it is to simply drink the koolaid. 1. I read Bukhari and Muslim cover-to-cover as a Sunni, as well as texts from other religions. 3. What does this even mean? If someone decides to convert to another sect, it takes a tremendous amount of will-power and decision making. You're essentially admitting that everything you have stood for was wrong. Converts to any religion are probably generally the most open minded people. 4. My interest in the Qur'an and willingness to read and memorize it jumped after becoming Imami. But I was always a friend of the Qur'an. 5. I've read thousands of ahadith from both Sunni and Shi`i sources. 6. I couldn't care less about the majority of conspiracy theories; but to deny the existence of Zionism and Zionists is very typical of Salafis who are in bed with them. 7. I hold isnaad and `ilm ar-rijal very highly, but at the same time I recognize the limitations of this man-made system 8. Full classical texts and hadith compilations exist on the internet, I don't see the problem here.

  8. Part 2: Here is the hadeeth taken from al-Kulayni's al-Kaafi. You have a knack for only quoting parts of aHaadeeth and not quoting the full thing. وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ السَّرَّاجِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَتَى فَرَجُ شِيعَتِكُمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ إِذَا اخْتَلَفَ وُلْدُ الْعَبَّاسِ وَ وَهَى سُلْطَانُهُمْ وَ طَمِعَ فِيهِمْ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ يَطْمَعُ فِيهِمْ وَ خَلَعَتِ الْعَرَبُ أَعِنَّتَهَا- وَ رَفَعَ كُلُّ ذِي صِيصِيَةٍ صِيصِيَتَهُ وَ ظَهَرَ الشَّامِيُّ وَ أَقْبَلَ الْيَمَانِيُّ وَ تَحَرَّكَ الْحَسَنِيُّ وَ خَرَجَ صَاحِبُ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ بِتُرَاثِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص فَقُلْتُ مَا تُرَاثُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص قَالَ سَيْفُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَ دِرْعُهُ وَ عِمَامَتُهُ وَ بُرْدُهُ وَ قَضِيبُهُ وَ رَايَتُهُ وَ لَامَتُهُ وَ سَرْجُهُ حَتَّى يَنْزِلَ مَكَّةَ فَيُخْرِجَ السَّيْفَ مِنْ غِمْدِهِ وَ يَلْبَسَ الدِّرْعَ وَ يَنْشُرَ الرَّايَةَ وَ الْبُرْدَةَ وَ الْعِمَامَةَ وَ يَتَنَاوَلَ الْقَضِيبَ بِيَدِهِ وَ يَسْتَأْذِنَ اللَّهَ فِي ظُهُورِهِ فَيَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ بَعْضُ مَوَالِيهِ فَيَأْتِي الْحَسَنِيَّ فَيُخْبِرُهُ الْخَبَرَ فَيَبْتَدِرُ الْحَسَنِيُّ إِلَى الْخُرُوجِ فَيَثِبُ عَلَيْهِ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ فَيَقْتُلُونَهُ وَ يَبْعَثُونَ بِرَأْسِهِ إِلَى الشَّامِيِّ فَيَظْهَرُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ صَاحِبُ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ فَيُبَايِعُهُ النَّاسُ وَ يَتَّبِعُونَهُ وَ يَبْعَثُ الشَّامِيُّ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ جَيْشاً إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَيُهْلِكُهُمُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ دُونَهَا وَ يَهْرُبُ يَوْمَئِذٍ مَنْ كَانَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مِنْ وُلْدِ عَلِيٍّ ع إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَيَلْحَقُونَ بِصَاحِبِ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ وَ يُقْبِلُ صَاحِبُ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ نَحْوَ الْعِرَاقِ وَ يَبْعَثُ جَيْشاً إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَيَأْمَنُ أَهْلُهَا وَ يَرْجِعُونَ إِلَيْهَا Source: al-Kulayni, al-Kaafi, vol. 8, pg. 224-225, hadeeth # 285 Grading: Al-Majlisī said this ḥadīth is Ṣaḥīḥ (Authentic) --> Mir’āt al-`Uqūl, vol. 26, pg. 155 Simply taking a hadeeth that talks about al-Yamaaniand ascribing it to your Ahmad al-Hassan, is not a good way to "prove" anything. All the narrators are thiqaat(pl. of thiqah), but there is an issue. Both Ibn FaDDaal and Ibn Bukayr are not Imaamiyyah (12er Shee`ah). Ibn Bukayr = `Abd Allaah bin Bukayr = He is thiqah (Trustworthy), but he is said to be part of the Fathiyyahmadhhab. The Fathiyyah madhhab followed `Abd Allaah bin Ja`far al-Aftah. Ibn FaDDaal = al-Hasan bin `Alee bin FaDDaal = he is thiqah (trustworthy),but he is also said to be part of the Fathiyyah madhhab. UsingaHadeeth that do not have all Imaamiyyah in the sanad i shard to prove something with regards to matters with Imaam al-Mahdi (as). Here is chain of narrators to this hadeeth, this is a very long hadeeth. Original source is al-Nu`maani's al-Ghaybah. 13- أخبرنا أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد ابن عقدة قال حدثني أحمد بن يوسف بن يعقوب أبو الحسن الجعفي من كتابه قال حدثنا إسماعيل بن مهران قال حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن أبي حمزة عن أبيه و وهيب بن حفص عن أبي بصير عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي ع أنه الحسن بن علي بن أبي حمزة = Mal`oon (Accursed) and a Liar according to `Alee bin al-Hasan bin FaDDaal. He is da`eef jiddan (very weak) according to all Rijaal scholars. He is one of the main people of the Waaqifiyyah madhhab. The Waaqifis believed that Moosa bin Ja`far al-Kaadhim (as) did not die, but he went into occultation, and that he was al-Qaa'im. Do you think it is wise for an Imaami to take a hadeeth from a person who believed in a total different occultation, not to mention that is known liar and is accursed? I cannot find this hadeeth anywhere in our classical books of hadeeth. The only book I have seen this hadeeth is from `Alee al-Yazdee al-Haa'iree's book called ilzaam al-Naasib fee ithbaat al-Hujjah al-Ghaa'ib, vol. 2, pg. 169. So It is impossible for me to analyze this hadeeth, which would mean authenticity of such a narration is suspect. This is actually a Sunni hadeeth and not a Shee`ah hadeeth. The first person to take this hadeeth out is Na`eem bin Hamaad al-Maroozee (d. 288) in his Kitaab al-Fatn,pg. 189. The only shee`ah scholar I have seen take this hadeeth out is Ibn Tawus, but he still mentions the sanad. And the sanad goes through a Sunni chain. According to Dr. `Abd al-`Aleem bin `Abd al-`Adheem al-Bastawee, he said this hadeeth has a Da`eef (weak)isnaad (chain of narrators). (see: Mawsoo`ah aHaadeeth fee al-Imaam al-Mahdi,pg. 188). The chain of narrators for this hadeeth is: حدثنا رشدين ، عن ابن لهيعة ، عن أبي قبيل ، عن شفي ، عن تبيع ، عن كعب قال : ولم يسنده إلى النبي ( ص ) . `Abd al-`Aleem said regarding the sanad of this hadeeth: فيه رشدين وهو ضعيف ( 49 ) ، وابن لهيعة كثير الخطأ ( 48 ) "In it is Rashdayn, and he is da`eef, and ibn Lahay`ah, and he does many mistakes" If you could very kindly give me a document of all the "proofs" for Ahmad al-Hasan, I can analyse all the aHaadeeth.

The founder of twitter is also a muslim called ''Noah glass'' The founder of eBay is a persian muslim called '' Pierre Omidyar '' Jews don't control all the social medias after all..it's just that muslims are hiding their faith because they're too shy to speak and not get accepted in society if they say that they're muslim ..for once, i do not laugh at the jews because of their courage .

I think these days with Facebook you can't really tell who cares, before when there was no Facebook some of my friends from school knew my birthday and wished me happy birthday and it meant something because you know they know you well and remembered cos they care, but nowadays u get ppl u dont even really talk 2 wishing u happy birthday because on FB it says its ur birthday, similarly when u wish ur friends happy birthday whom u care about, they wont know that u remembered they might think u just saw it on FB Damn you Facebook

  14. Birthdays used to be really big occasions in my family, especially since we don't have much relatives here, we would celebrate with as many friends as possible. But as we got older, the celebrations died out so it made no difference if anyone forgot lol. (Obviously immediate family wouldn't forget) Eid is usually better... I think. EID MUBARAK TO EVERYONE!

  17. the thing is, often, wih certain things, it isn't that the person doesn't care, it's just that with many people (ok I have to admit it, men) it isn't such a big deal. They don't want a fuss, and so, don't feel the need to make a fuss. Of course, if you go out of your way to tell someone it is your birthday, aniversary or whatever, or that you want to spend eid with them, and they still don't do anything about it, then, either they really have the worst memory you could have, or simply, they don't care. But I agree with LoA, I wouldn't tell someone if that bothered me, then you'd just get some fake 'sympathy' that doesn't mean anything. But we shouldn't do things for others because we expect the same in return, we should do things because we care, and if you get nothing back, just assume the other person simply forgot.

Funny thing is in real life most of these 'brave' guys wouldn't say jack face to face for eg - instead of calling me a 'khabeth wahabi' id get called a 'nice shi'a boy'. And to the OP - it is wrong since they have no evidence he has done any wrong, it's all talking for fun, useless and baseless. It's just dumb, what are they gonna get out of it? Can they change the fact that it happened? No. So why they do it is simply due to the fact they love talking about rubbish.

  21. (1) your favourite conspiracy theory about iran That the government sent Abbas Doran on an impossible mission with the purpose that he would die, because his popularity was a "threat" to Imam Khomeini. I love this conspiracy theory. Bonus: that Mesbah Yazdi heads the Hojjatiyeh Society. (2) why iranian women have a reputation for being so tough Imam Khomeini said in a speech to a group of women shortly after the triumph of the Islamic Revolution: The country belongs to you. They took it literally. And some nonsense about Iranians being a mountain people and therefore having faced a difficult lifestyle in the villages... (3) iranian exiles influencing western media and what are the ways to battle it One is to raise people's consciousness so they're not ignorant sheep. Another is to improve the quality of state media. (best to do both at the same time) For example, the satellites' programming. Its not academic. Its not reasonable. It's just demagoguery. If we had one good show on state TV that responded to their nonsense with the language of reason (something like what Sayyed Kamal does to Salafi views on his show), I think it would have a big impact. (4) other things in iran you wish you could change Privatization Monetary corruption (and in fact the prominence of the money economy in general) The fact that any time anything goes wrong in a neighboring country, it spills into Iran (our drug problem is almost entirely due to rise in poppy production in Afghanistan) Art. Either force these degenerate filmmakers to make movies that conform to what we're trying to do, or at least stop them from broadcasting filth to the world! When the revolution first began, they stopped broadcasting commercials on TV. Now they broadcast more than before the revolution. Let's undo this deviation. We need better means of propagating hijab and modesty (for men and women both). More attention to be paid to spectacle and image. These things are not as useless as we often assume! Let's have better uniforms (for everything), better guidelines for construction (not so much color and crazy designs!), better parades, better exhibitions. Spectacles inspire national confidence. Paperwork should be streamlined. This is an area where maybe computers could help. Maybe make some application processes electronic. Office workers in Iran are committed to do nothing and not help you. Tone down the racism toward Iraqis and Afghanis who live in the country. It makes people disillusioned and get a negative image of Iranians. Put Sayyed Kamal on Iranian TV. He knows Farsi, he's a terminator, what are you waiting for? Make it even more unbearable to drive in Tehran than it already is. Get those idiots out of their cars and into the buses and metro trains. Tehran has such a great transportation system but idiot Iranians are so attached to their dumb cars. (and then they complain about traffic) And there's probably more but I will stop thinking of any, for the sake of time. (5) if you could write any book, what would it be? I would write a book documenting the criminal incompetence of Reza Shah, Ataturk, Mammad Reza Shah, and other puppet Muslim secularist leaders, both from Western standards and from our own standards. I am tired of people glorifying these pathetic stooges. finally, mr jackson, you have 1 minute to rant about any subject you choose. My rant will be about the Seyyed Ali Khamenei risalah issue! I am really tired of this risalah issue. I really am. Foolish people who have no interest in truth, but only in delegitimizing the Leader and causing others to question his credentials, bring up this issue, and then admire themselves proudly in the mirror, as if they have cured AIDS. Why has the Leader not published a risalah. First of all, what is a risalah? It is a book of fatwas. Anyone who has reached ijtihad and who can make fatawa, can quite easily compile these rulings into a risalah. Most of the people who are today maraji, came up with their religious rulings from when they were much younger (from when they first reached ijtihad). So the risalah is simply a compilation of fatwas. Anyone who is in the position to make fatwas, can easily compile his risalah. And if someone is not in fact in a position to give fatwas (as the hojjatiyeh clan believes the Leader is not), well then he can simply fake it. Its not that hard. If I, Baradar Jackson, wanted to claim marja'iyah and release a risalah, I could easily do it. Of course, my marja'iyah would be illegitimate both in the eyes of God and in the eyes of the people (Isn't it nice when those two things coincide? It makes pleasing God much easier!), but there is nothing -- as far as ability is concerned -- that prevents me. Writing up fatwas is easy. Doing the study and the ijtihad that puts you in a position to have the right and the credentials to write up fatwas; that is what is hard. The people who blow up this risalah issue, are people who reject the Leader's ijtihad! Their concern is not that he has his fatwas in writing, and available to the public; this is just a stupid little nothing of an issue which they bring up to advance their political agenda. If he had his fatwas in writing, would they suddenly embrace him and say his ijtihad is legitimate and his marja'iyah is legitimate? Of course not! And indeed, why should they? The existence or non-existence of a risalah does not determine the legitimacy or illegitimacy of one's scholarship (I already mentioned why). So to all hate-filled individuals, I say: stop bringing up this issue. If he released a risalah, you would not change your opinion of him. Your reason for bringing this up is not to uphold truth, but to bring down Seyyed Ali's status in the eyes of the people. Wa'salaamun aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

  24. Thats just uncalled for. Can we please have a big boy discussion rather than hashing out insults? And i completely agree with this. Of course people will say, "im not worshiping, im just giving him respect", but subconsciously they're praising and standing for a man. He is not Ali, he is not Muhammad or Allah, nor is he Mahdi, he is a man.

  25. Great minds think alike. And there is nothing i have said that you can say is false. I would never mix my beliefs with my politics, because most sane people know that politics is full of corruption. It doesnt matter if youre in Saudi Arabia, it doesnt matter if youre in Pakistan, it doesnt matter if youre in the US, it doesnt matter if you are in Iran. Politics are politics. Theyre notoriously corrupt and we all know this. I would never, ever ever mix my religion, my faith and my beliefs with my countries politics, because that is just asking for trouble. Its common sense. Politicians come and go, people come and go, deviations come and go, preachers with varying views of varying sects...come and go. But religion and faith are forever. Dont make the mistake of allowing political figures to dictate your reality.
    2 points
  26. In a world where political figures act on political agendas, it can deviate your own religion. Politics may be your religion and religion may be your politics, but that is not the case for everyone, and its most definitely not the case for politicians. You all know, just as well as I, people who claim to be muslims dont always act Islamically, and likewise, politicians absolutely dont always act Islamically. This is the flaw in combining the two. You are handing the power of Islam over to political control and political manipulation.

And I hope you are familiar with our classical books of Rijaal, al-Najaashi, al-Toosi (Fihrist & Rijaal), Ibn al-GhaDaa'iree, etc. I don't see how this proves anything. Ibn al-GhaDaa'iree says he is weak, and some strengthen him via a weak hadeeth from al-Kashi's Rijaal. The best opinion is that he is Majhool (Unknown), there is no clear-cut tawtheeq (authenticity) for him, therefore this weakens his hadeeth even more. You very gracefully put translated the word wazeer as "successor". This is incorrect. The correct translation should be "minister" and not successor. And al-Qaa'im (as) having a minister does not go against our doctrine. Where are you trying to go with this? Surely you aren't saying "a man" is Ahmad al-Hasan? But anyways, this hadeeth is taken from al-Qummi's Tafseer whose books authenticity has been put into question by a number of scholars. The person who received the book from al-Qummi is majhool (Unknown). His name is ÇÈæÇáÝÖá ÇáÚÈÇÓ Èä ãÍãÏ Èä ÇáÞÇÓã Èä ÍãÒÉ Èä ãæÓì Èä ÌÚÝÑ. Originally taken from al-Toosi's al-Ghaybah. Here is the chain of narrators. 120 - ÃÍãÏ Èä ÅÏÑíÓ ¡ Úä Úáí Èä ãÍãÏ ¡ Úä ÇáÝÖá Èä ÔÇÐÇä ¡ Úä ÚÈÏ Çááå Èä ÌÈáÉ ¡ Úä ÚÈÏ Çááå Èä ÇáãÓÊäíÑ ( 3 ) ¡ Úä ÇáãÝÖá Èä ÚãÑ ÞÇá : ÓãÚÊ ÃÈÇ ÚÈÏ Çááå Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã íÞæá : Åä áÕÇÍÈ åÐÇ ÇáÇãÑ ÛíÈÊíä ÅÍÏÇåãÇ ÊØæá ÍÊì íÞæá ÈÚÖåã : ãÇÊ ¡ æíÞæá ÈÚÖåã : ÞÊá ¡ æíÞæá ÈÚÖåã : ÐåÈ ¡ ÍÊì áÇ íÈÞì Úáì ÃãÑå ãä ÃÕÍÇÈå ÅáÇ äÝÑ íÓíÑ áÇ íØáÚ Úáì ãæÖÚå ÃÍÏ ãä æáÏå æáÇ ÛíÑå ÅáÇ Çáãæáì ÇáÐí íáí ÃãÑå ( 1 ) . ÚÈÏ Çááå Èä ÇáãÓÊäíÑ = Majhool (Unknown) In Footnote three, the person who did the tahqeeq of the Kitaab (`Ibaad Allaah al-Tihraani & `Alee bin Ahmad NaasiH) said: ( 3 ) Ýí ÛíÈÉ ÇáäÚãÇäí æßÊÇÈäÇ åÐÇ Ýí Í 60 ÅÈÑÇåíã Èä ÇáãÓÊäíÑ æáã äÌÏ áå ÊÑÌãÉ Ýí ßÊÈ ÇáÑÌÇá áÇ ÈÚäæÇä ÅÈÑÇåíã æáÇ ÈÚäæÇä ÚÈÏ Çááå . And in al-Ghaybah of al-Nu`maani, this is in page 60. (his name is) Ibraaheem bin al-Mustaneer, and we have not found him in the books of rijaal, not with his name being Ibraaheem or `Abd Allaah. ÇáãÝÖá Èä ÚãÑ = He is considered Da`eef by our classical scholars of Rijaal, because of being linked with the ghulaat, and it is not permissible to write down his hadeeth (See: Ibn al-GhaDaa'iree, al-Najaashi, and al-Hilli).

It is not for the girl herself, but to preserve the dignity of her family. Also, young girls, especially in these times, sometimes exercise very poor judgement when it comes to who to marry and why. The father is like a safety mechanism that protects them from making a decision based on a whim that may harm them later. If there is fear of falling into sin as a result of not being married or the boy is rejected based on criteria other than deen and aklaq, then it is a different case. Marajaa have different opinions regarding this case so they boy and girl should consult their individual marajaa on this. Moving to Polygomy and Temporary Marriage forum.

  30. People also have bad akhlaq. Ive been talked down to more on this site in the last 3 days then in person in the last year. It's crazy. People act like they have all this knowledge, but no akhlaq. I wonder how some of these people talk to each other at a mosque.

  36. Every person have his own Lord and his own journey ahead. Divine Religions are lanterns of the path that will guide the individual to that which is truth. This is how i see it.

  38. realistically, khomeini is just another politician playing a politics game. its filled with propaganda that suits his side of the coin. With that said, i see no reason to praise him for anything. People would be wise to separate religion from political figures, as El Cid is doing, and i dont think anyone should criticize him for that.

  45. unfortunately usually when a Muslim man marries a non-muslim woman he really isn't into his religion to begin with. If the man doesnt have the sense of religion the kids will not be raised islamically in most cases. I've seen this happen with a few people in the community, even within my own family. It kills me to see this happening but my own cousins are being raised as catholics because my uncle married a christian. From what i seen and my opinion, its usually the mother who has a lot of influence over the childrens religion as well.
