Thoughts: Mash'Allah, what singles us out as Shias is that even if one of our brothers is oppressed, the Shias all over the globe will try to alleviate them through any means. May Allah (swt) keep our bond very strong and may we all help each other, purely for the reason that we all love the Ahlulbayt (as) and follow them. May Allah (swt) grant Sheikh Usama just an atom's worth of patience that Imam Musa Kadhim (as) had when he was imprisoned. May Allah (swt) hasten the reapparance of the Awaited Saviour (as) and may the tyrants of this world feel the blade of his sword.7 points

WELCOME TO CATEGORIES Well there have been MANY Awards in the Past but these are a Lil' different.. Why..?!?! These are the COMEDY AWARDS.. And YOU are the people to CHOOSE the categories as well as nominations later... Its as simple as that.. ;) You have to make categories that sound funny... try giving as many as you can as later I will choose the best ones out of them which you will later nominate people for.. So NO RULES except they HAVE to be FUNNY NOT RUDE.. And you can give as many as you can.. IF you like a category that is said by another person QUOTE it and post it so I know which category is liked.. it will be easier for me to choose later.. If you post a category which you feel may not be understood by others then in ONE LINE or less just briefly explain what you mean by it.. Examples: - Ha Ha You Are So Amusing.. NOT ( Person Who is VERY sarcastic) - I am a Man so my answer is BETTER ( A person who uses their gender to prove themselves better ) - OMG how can you joke on this... ( A person who just becomes serious for no reason ) - The TOPIC changer ( The one who changes every thread to something completely different) ALL THIS IS JUST FOR PURE ENTERTAINMENT.. NO MARDY people.. THIS IS JUST CATEGORIES.. NOT NOMINATIONS.. SO LET'S GO..! ;)5 points

Thoughts: I read something on the tube today which made me smile: When man first flew beyond the sky. He looked back into the world's blue eye. Man said: what makes your eye so blue? earth said: the tears in the ocean do. Why are all the seas so full of tears? Because I've wept for so many thousands of years. Why do you weep as you dance though space? Because I am the mother of the human race.4 points

Unfair That A Woman Must Observe Iddah After Muta'

Unfair That A Woman Must Observe Iddah After Muta'
AmirioTheMuzzy and one other reacted to Haydar Husayn for a topic
Even the Imams (as) couldn't change the laws of Allah, so it is certainly not for us to do. There is no hadith that I am aware of that says the only reason that iddah is to be observed is in order to determine paternity. That is simply one obvious reason. Since we don't know what the hidden reasons may be, we shouldn't mess with what Allah has revealed. It could simply be bad for society to have women being able to do several mutas in quick succession. The arrogance of some people, that seem to think they can determine for themselves the reasons for which Allah (swt) made certain laws, and then to themselves abrogate those laws, is truly incredible. This life is about submission to Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì, not just doing whatever makes sense to you because you think you have it all figured out. People in the past, who weren't infected by this modern hubris, just followed the laws. They didn't constantly ask for everything to be explained to them before they obeyed. That is hardly what you can call submission.2 points -

With 21st century pregnancy tests, women can now tell whether they are pregnant between 10 - 14 days after intercourse. Maybe the iddah period needs to be revisited... I know this comment will cause consternation!! As for being psychologically ready for the next mutah, in general, for obvious reasons, women are more cautious in this aspect than men so it I would leave it up to them to decide. If men want ready mutah partners though, they need to make it so that it is more doable for women. Also re: 45 days for 2 cycles is optimistic - many women go longer than that.2 points -

An Interview Between Mdm And.....
Naz_ and one other reacted to Maula Dha Mallang for a topic
yep! mash'Allah. what do you find are the most common mistakes you make, which force you to repeat your prayers? how do you avoid najasat while eating? all food these days is packed with E numbers and additives, many of which come from things like crushed beetle shells, road tar and other wholesome sources. do you know what are haram by heart? doubts are good, but do you think there should be a limit? i hope you go soon bro, it is out of this world. ok here is a challenge for you. i am a millionaire, and i say to you "here is £10,000, i will give you this money, if this time next year you return me £50,000". how would you go about turning £10,000 into £50,000? you arent allowed to say "i dont know" or any kop out answer! LOL. at the moment it is a quiet little earner, it is at the stage where i am putting in late nights and early mornings 7 days of the week, but i have a plan and a goal in mind, and things are mashallah coming along nicely. the hardest thing for me is juggling my work and business, because i need to give both 100% of my effort when i work at them. its draining my energy but i know inshallah it will be worth it soon. all our masumeen (as) worked for a living, for example the prophet (pbuh) owned the largest caravan company in mecca, imam ali (as) worked in a date orchard, even imam jafar sadiq (as) was a landowner who worked the land himself. i see that as a sign they were instructing us to own and run our own livelyhoods, instead of working for others. what are your views on this? would you be ok working a comfortable but mundane life for 30 years and then retiring, or would you venture out on your own? what did our maula ali (as) say: all containers become full eventually, except knowledge, that is always expanding. and of course we all know the saying of rasool e paak (pbuh) "seek knowledge, even as far as china". bearing this in mind, have you considered travelling to, say, qum or isfahan or one of the hawzas in iraq for study? insha'Allah, may Allah make all your duas come true this is a noble ambition mash'Allah. i hope one day you succeed at it. if you for whatever reason were not able to help those in africa or the middle east who are suffering, how would you make a difference to the lives closer to home, in the area where you live? what could you do to ease the suffering of your neighbours? sure; there is a business model called "not for profit" business, which is a normal business, so you buy and sell exactly the same, pay wages, manage finances etc etc etc. the only difference is, once you spend whatever is needed from the cash you make on bills and wages, normally whatever is left gets taxed and stays in the bank for the next month. "not for profit" businesses take that left over profit and hand it over to charity, so it doesnt get taxed or carried over. this is a much better idea than opening yet another charity in a country where there is already too many asking for donations. you could do much more by, for example, opening a cash rich business like a takeaway, and running it as a not for profit organisation. you would generate 100 times more cash than a charity, and therefore make much more of a difference. if you open a charity at the same time as the business, you could use the profit from the takeaway (for example) to donate directly to the charity, and then do good work though the charity. does any of that make sense lol? why would your phone be najis, what have you been doing with it?!?!? lol cool, next time im down london ill give you a shout. SC is like malaria; once you get "the bug" you are stuck with it brah ah thats understandable, and good common sense. ill let you know how it is ;) bro there are a million things you could do! - volunteer at a local charity - learn a skill/ language - become more active in your local hussainia - learn one of the four skills which will make you actually useful to the awaited imam - swimming, archery, fencing or horse riding - meet with and have discussions with brothers from other faiths - start a business (do you spot a running theme :P) - find a way for shias from different hussainias to socialise together and so on! whats stopping you??? excellent. no one leaves empty handed who approaches their door. do you have any enemies? just realised the joke is all wrong *facepalm* its MEANT to read - i want to kill 1 million wahabbis and an insect - why kill an insect? - i TOLD you no one would care about the wahabbis! 1 Hour Mut'ah , No Witnesses
Praetorius and one other reacted to Haydar Husayn for a topic
Sorry to say, but you have little idea how systematically brainwashed people growing up in this supposed 'open' society really are. This idea that free-thinking is encouraged is a delusion. Try publicly voicing pro-slavery views or advocating pre-teen marriage, just to select a couple of examples, and see how open-minded people are. Actually, you don't need to go very far. Just see how many Shia Muslims react to such views on this forum. Do they try to refute the opposion position using facts and logic? No, they basically immediately resort to ad hominem and appeals to emotion. There are people that would rather throw their religion (or part of their religion) out the window that challenge some sacred secular truths. That is because alternative opinions on certain matters are still voiced. For example, on homosexuality, fornication, alcohol consumption, etc. So whenever there is some dissent, however much of a minority view it might be, it allows you to pick the view that is closest to Islam's position and think that you are challenging your assumptions. But when there is no dissent, for example on age of consent, polygamy, slavery, etc, then magically it always conforms with your intuition. Can you give an example of something you believe is morally acceptable, but is completely rejected by modern Western civilisation? If this civilisation still exists in 50 years time, everyone will be brainwashed to think there is nothing wrong with homosexual relationships, and then someone like you will probably try to claim that this is self-evidence from our intuition, and that the anti-homosexual hadiths must all be fabricated by biogoted homophobes. Who knows, you might even come to that position yourself. I'm not just talking about about Hollywood, or things that contain overtly romantic themes. How about the stories you read as a child? There were never any prince and princesses in there? You never read Romeo and Juliet at school? You never listened to any music about relationships? Are there any positive depictions of polygamous relationships in the media? What about the relationships you see around you? Honestly, examine every single mention of relationships you have ever seen, heard, or read, and then see how much diversity there is. Mostly you get a repetition of common themes such as love, trust, faithfulness, and commitment. These are seen as the foundations of a healthy sexual relationship. Often the girl will only sleep with the boy when she is told he loves her, or when she believes he is committed to her, and isn't just 'using' her. Forget about a marriage contract, that is just a formality. The formula that really matters is 'I love you and want to spend to rest of my life with you'. This is why the concept of a quick muta, or a secret muta while married causes such revulsion among many. The quick muta violates the requirements of commitment and love, and the secret muta violates trust and faithfulness. Of course, the problem isn't with these concepts themselves, it's the context they are put in. Love is important in a permanent marriage, but is something that should grow during the marriage, and is generally relatively unimportant in a muta. Faithfulness and commitment are important, but shouldn't be understood in a strictly monogomous context where there is only one legitimate outlet for sexual activity (ie permanent marriage). You need trust, but your attitude towards halal activities should enable that trust to flourish, so it's a two-way street. To be honest, I'm not even sure what your points are, since you don't go into any detail. You are basically just saying that we should all intuitively know that this is wrong.2 points -

My Behaviour
DoubleAgent4 and one other reacted to -SeeKeR- for a topic
Shockingly enough the idea of alcohol seems to appeal to people, so just FYI, in case their seems to be some confusion about it. “They ask you about intoxicants and the games of chance. Says: in both of them there is a great sin and means of profit for men, and their sin is greater than their profit.”-[surah al-Baqarah 2:219] “O you who believe ! Surely intoxicants and games of chance and (sacrificing to) stones set up and (divining by) arrows are only an uncleanness, the Shaitan’s works, shun it therefore that you may be successful.”-[surah al-Mā’ida 5:90] Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s.) says: “On the day of Qiyāma the drunkard would come with a black face, a protruding tongue and the saliva dripping upon his chest.”-(Wasa’il ul-Shia) In another narration Imam (a.s.) informed:“He will scream, ‘Thirst! Thirst!’ And Allah would have the right to make him drink from the well that contains the pollutants of the adulterers.”-(Wasa’il ul-Shia) In a tradition from the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), he says:“One who is careless of Salāt will be deprived of my intercession, and will not be able to reach me at the pool of Kawthar. And by Allah, my intercession will also not reach the one who consumes intoxicants, and he would not be able to reach me at the pool of Kawthar.” Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) says: “Certainly even if a person swallows only a mouthful of wine, at that very moment, the angels, the Prophets and the righteous believers send their curses upon him.” “And when he drinks enough to make him intoxicated, the spirit of belief leaves his body, it is replaced by the dirty, accursed, devilish spirit. When the person neglects prayers, he spreads corruption in society.” Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) informs that the Holy Prophet (S) said:“Accursed, accursed is the one who sits at a table where wine is being served.” (Wasa’il ul-Shia) ref:http://www.al-islam.org/greater_sins_complete/18.htm2 points -

Grimmjow and one other reacted to Haydar Husayn for a topic
No. It can be for as long as you want. Considering people are always talking about how muta is for jihad and travel, what sense would it make for the duration to have to be at least a month? I think the reason many people have a problem with muta is that they have been brought up to believe that sex is wrong unless it is within certain very restrictive conditions like a marriage where there is a more general purpose of raising a family. However, it seems more correct to think that Islam sees sex as something that is good, but imposes some relatively light conditions on it. Basically, the difference is a bit like between someone with vegan tendencies who believes that it is ok to eat meat in order to take in enough protein, and a meat eater that just has to makes sure what he eats is halal.2 points -
(wasalam) I am honoured. I went with a company called Spiritual Journeys. They have offices in different countries so there were many zawars from all over the world. I also went because Sayed Ammar Nakshawani was our guide and he has taught me a lot and I wanted to spend time with him. We went Syria for a couple of days, then Iraq (Kadhmain, Samarra, Karbala, Najaf) and then back to Syria. I went at that time because it was a period of my life where I was turning more religious. When I found out about it, I phoned my mum and she said she doesn't care how much ziyarat costs, if I want to go she will send me and it also fell in my Easter holidays. So alhamdullilah, she allowed me to go and also came with me. It was easily the best moment of my life. I am studying Philosophy at the University of Essex. I am in my final year and hope to teach Philosophy/Religious Studies at Secondary School. I don't care if the Bidah Brigade get angry but sitting outside Imam Ali's (as) shrine and listening to the adhaan say "Ashadu-ana Aliyun Waliullah". I was proud of who my Imam is and just hearing the testimony of his wilayat in his presence filled me with pride. I also made a film for Ahlulbayt TV's Ashura Film Festival. I don't know what the situation is with it at the moment, I think it will be played in the coming Muharram. Completing that movie was a moment I am proud of too as I put a lot of work into it and I did it for the sake of Imam Hussain (as). I hope it gets played so people can see it. I would say a religious figure but I am not worthy to have them around my house. I'm really interested in film-making and Martin Scorsese is my favourite director, I just admire his craft. It would probably be him. We would talk about movie-making of course and we would eat spaghetti and tiramisu (without alcohol) for dessert. Scorsese is also a very religious Christian so I would talk to him about religion too. I was brainwashed by my family as a child. From outside - doner meat, chips, salad, chilli sauce, garlic sauce. Home made - My mum's pilau, with egg kofte, salad and raita. I also love Nachos (but proper ones that are baked), it's my favourite snack. I'm fairly a new member so it would be a bit arrogant of me to ask for change. However, I think we need more mods so that the website is under constant moderation (I'm available in case anyone is interested). This might sound odd but I would like to be on my own because I would want others to enjoy their life and not be stranded with me. I'm very good at staying alone and I would keep sane for a long time. I would take a Wilson volleyball with me (this is something only people who have seen the movie Cast Away will understand). On a serious note, the Quran because I would never get bored of it as it always uplifts me when I read it. I am not clever enough to come up with any. Yes - I want to go to Karbala on Ashura once in my life and I want to walk from Najaf to Karbala during Arbaeen. I still need to visit Mashad and Baqi as well. I look forward to further questions. :yaali:2 points
