    Dear Layla

I remember the time when we ran through streets and dared each other endlessly You ran, and I would follow as we skipped like those little girls with plaited hair. I remember the time when you scared me in the dark so much so that, I began to cry like a child and hit you a thousand times (sorry if I bruised you) Inseparable were we like sisters, but not at all Your eyes, honeyed like mine and a smile That smile. I'm as numb as when you used to lean on my arm and refuse to get off Though it feels different this time. And doesn't go away Where did it all go wrong? Why didn't you answer my calls? I was going to take you out for the night A coffee perhaps? It could have been. My spontaneous planning, like always. Why did you have to leave? How dare you go and leave me like this Bruised and blue like your face when you died Do I dare call you selfish? Dear Layla As much as nostalgia rubs salt in my wounds I will always love and miss you and will remember you for what you were and not what could have been. Dear Layla. *To all those who read this, a friend of mine has committed suicide. Whatever journey she is experiencing, I ask you to read the fatiha for her*

  7. (wasalam) Yes, both Najashi and Tusi say he was thiqa. His father had been a Christian who converted to Islam, and it's said he converted while he was little too. He was a companion of Imams ar-Rida, al-Jawad and al-Hadi (as) and was a wakil to the latter two in some regions to the Shi`a. As to narrations, do a search on tashayyu for مهزيار and there's a number of narrations there with him in the isnad.

  15. (salam) (bismillah) `Alī bin Mahziyār al-Aḥwāzī is highly thiqah. `Alī’s father was a Christian and converted (كان أبوه نصرانيا فأسلم), and it is said that `Alī converted to Islām when he was very young (إن عليا أيضا أسلم و هو صغير) (See: al-Najāshī’s Rijāl, pg. 253, person # 664). There is a narration in al-Kashī’s Rijāl that says that he was Christian originally from a village in Fars and then moved to al-Ahwāz, but this narration is Da`īf (weak) because one of the narrators (Yūsuf bin al-Sakht) is from the ghulāt. He (`Alī) is said to be a companion of the 8th, 9th and 10th Imāms. It was also said that `Alī “was thiqah in his narration and no one disputed about him and his correct (Ṣaḥīḥ) beliefs” (و كان ثقة في روايته لا يطعن عليه صحيحا اعتقاده) (See: al-Najāshī’s Rijāl, ibid ). According to al-Ṭūsī, `Alī bin Mahziyār “had 33 books, books that were like al-Ḥussayn bin Sa`īd, but added three more works: Kitāb Hurūf al-Qur’ān, Kitāb al-Qā’im and Kitāb al-Bashārāt” (و زيادة له ثلاثة وثلاثون كتابا مثل كتب الحسين بن سعيد و زيادة كتاب حروف القرآن و كتاب الأنبياء و كتاب البشارات.) (See: al-Ṭūsī, al-Fihrist, pg. 265, person # 379). According to al-Barqī : “`Alī bin Mahziyār took the books from al-Ḥussayn bin Sa`īd and added upon it (little), but added to three works a lot” (إن علي بن مهزيار أخذ مصنفات الحسين بن سعيد و زاد عليها في ثلاثة كتب منها زيادة كثيرة) (See: al-Ṭūsī, al-Fihrist, ibid). (wasalam) One thing that i sometimes use with people/gatherings where i find nothing of common interest is to find a small conversation trigger and then just go into a listening mode. People actually prefer it if you let them do the talking, it requires a bit of patience at times but it passes the time and in doing so sometimes one learns interesting things and occasionally even bumps into nice people. For example if you are not into clothes but others are, just ask about some new shop that opened, or some news item you read and then just listen to what they have to say and put in a few questions. The plus point in large gatherings is that you don't have to listen to only one person, just smile and move on to the next group. Good luck for your family gathering.

  19. The most probable scenario here is that Turkey is just doing whatever the USA is pressuring them to do. Turkey relies on USA for it's military equipment and supplies, and it has a major problem in the southeast with the Kurds. Turkey spends billions just to keep an army in the south to suppress and control the Kurds, but there's an on and off war going on there for decades. After the earthquake in Van, initially Turkey didn't want any foreign aid because they didn't want Kurds in Van to show protests. It's obvious, Turkey's just looking out for it's own national interests and it probably fears that if Syria was to fall it needs to get new allies there. Turkey's doing the USA's bidding here it's pretty obvious. Remember, when the USA used to suppress and send in the military to attack states and rebels that didn't want to be a part of the 50 states. It's pretty hypocritical that the USA has done the same thing in the past (suppressing and sending the army against other states) but now it is trying to police and/or "orchestrate" foreign wars. If Russia was a super power and decided to aid US rebels, I wonder what they would say then. One big word sums up the US government and it's corporations that control it: HYPOCRITES.

  27. Salam brothers and sisters. i have been thinking of trying to organize a some kind of dua event which all muslims (or the majority inshallah) can participate in. what has popped into my head over the last few months was how beautiful it would be if muslims allover the world all read a pre agreed specific dua (such as dua e zamana) asking Allah swt to speed up the return of our Imam as all at the same time. or perhaps to cater for the different time zones we could have a 24 hour session, where countries will be allocated a time and all the muslims would read the dua and inshallah the outcome would be that for every hour of the day a country somewhere would be reciting the dua. with todays technology and internet addicts it shouldnt be that difficult to spread the word. what you all think? i am happy to post some duas, there are many links already available on this site, is there a dua that would appeal to the majority of schools i am open to suggestions on days (i think friday) and what do people think about having it read in unison or over a 24 hour period. thanks for your time

Muta is mainly just for sex, although it can be used for other things as well (halal engagement, companionship, marriage with kitabi women, etc).

    Turkey Slaps Syria

They are fools because they are puppets. They want to see their benefits on how they approach to Syria and other countries like Bahrain at this time. Now, the masters in the West who been all Syrian foes for decades are designing the programs for Turkey and AL. Arab League not fools? Who the heck are they? Arab puppet states? Till a few months ago, Mubarak, Bin Ali, Gaddafi, Abdllah Saleh were all giant members of the same League. Now you tell me that Jordan's Abdullah, Saudis expired kings, Morocco's dictator and Gulf States tyrants who invaded Bahrain in order to kill peaceful protesters, including Bahraini tyrant himself, are in a position to make the right judgment on Syria's approach to armed gangs? puffffffff Are you trying to be funny here or what? Just look at YOURSELF, in your entire history here, you never POSTED once such articles when it comes to oppressed people of Bahrain, Yemen, Saudi, Egypt and any country who is not being labeled as oppressors in your media. By the time US changed its position on Mubarak, then your media did and then you too made little bit replies here and there within the same lines. So stop pinpointing individuals, as you are the biggest honest or knowledgeable person on here.

    My Behaviour

I'm a female, so you may want to disregard my advice, but here it is anyway. I hope it's of benefit to you. I can completely relate with your feelings. I am quite shy in social gatherings. I can usually do quite well in a one-to-one situation, but as soon as there is a group of people, I slink off into the background and hope people don't notice I'm there. With me, I get very awkward around Muslim men, no other men, just muslim ones, which is very....err...unfortunate. I am always paranoid that people mistake my shyness for rudeness. But, and I know it might be hard, try and not think of how other people (person you are trying to speak to) is perceiving you. The more you think of that, the less you'll be able to think of interesting things to say. Main strategy I suggest you try and employ would be to think ahead of the people you will be meeting at this gathering. Try and think if there are any people who you would be more comfortable with socialising with and try and hand around with them more. After having exchanged pleasantries, If you're struggling with things to say, think of that day's news you think the other party would find interesting, or relates to them in some way, and just bring it up in conversation 'Did you hear of uni fees' etc etc. Try and take conversation from there. The other thing you could try is asking questions, although you have to be careful not to come across as a nosy aunty. If people are busy answering questions, they don't usually have time to think about anything else. I have usually found them too busy trying to come up with interesting answers, than think about anything else!!

  46. (salam) (bismillah) This hadeeth is SaHeeH, this hadeeth has an impeccable chain. If anything, this hadeeth goes against the Usooli concept of taqleed, which many akhbaari scholars have used as proof. Surely, you can have hadeeth books "in your hands" and fingertips much easier than having a scholar. (salam)
    1 point
  47. (wasalam) That's not hard to explain since as Zurara died at the most two years after Imam as-Sadiq (as), presumably he was himself an old man by this point (see how much he in fact narrated from Imam al-Baqir (as) as well). Add that to the story of him sending his son instead of going himself, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't physically in a condition to be making the trips from Kufa to Madina like he used to to be able to learn new hadiths to narrate. Plus keep in mind the conditions Imam al-Kazhim (as) lived under.
    1 point
  48. (salam) (bismillah) I don't know why this is in this section of the forums, but oh well. Imaam Ja`far Al-Saadiq (as) died in the year 148 AH Zuraarah died in the year 150 AH و مات زرارة سنة خمسين و مائة. “And Zuraarah died in the year 150” Source: Najaashee, Rijaal, pg. 175, person # 463 Now there are 0 hadeeth that Zuraarah narrates from the 7th Imaam, that should raise some eyebrows on how come Zuraarah hasn't narrated anything in from the 7th Imaam, and he had his Imaamah for 2 years. Now there are different reports in Al-Kashee’s rijaal from pg. 154 – 156 that states that Zuraarah sent his son, `Ubaydah, to Madeenah to inquire on who is the next Imaam, and before `Ubaydah returned Zuraarah got extremely sick and died. Once again it shouldn't take 2 years for his son `Ubaydah to go to Madeenah and come back to his father, Zuraarah, to deliver the news. Now the reports vary: Some reports say that he took the Qur’aan as his Imaam (Al-Kashee, Ikhtiyaar, hadeeth # 252) Another report says that he took the Imaam that is mentioned in the Qur’aan (aka Moosa al-Kaadhim) (Al-Kashee, Ikhtiyaar, hadeeth # 252). And there is another report that says he doubted in the Imaam of Al-Kaadhim (Al-Kashee, Ikhtiyaar, hadeeth # 253). (Taken from my personal copy of Al-Shahristaanee’s Kitaab Al-Milal wa Al-Nihal, vol 1, pg. 218) “And it is said that he (Zuraarah) believed in the Imaamah of `Abd Allaah bin Ja`far, but when consulted in him some questions, and he did not find him informed, so he returned to Moosa bin Ja`far. And some also say that he believe in the Imaamah, and that he pointed to the muSHaf (Qur’aan) and said: ‘This is my Imaam’… Source: Al-Shahristaanee, Kitaab Al-Milal wa Al-NiHal, vol. 1, pg. 218 So according to some Sunnee sources Zuraarah believed in the Imaamah of Moosa Al-Kaadhim (عليه السلام), other sources that say he believed in `Abd Allaah bin Ja`far aren’t found too much in our books so that can be easily discarded. And the other one about the Qur’aan being his Imaam can be reconciled that Imaam that is found in the Qur’aan, and it is true our Imaamah is found in the Qur’aan by 4:59 (Ulil Amr verse), also it could mean that he was talking about the Imaam’s name that is found in the Qur’aan which Moosa (عليه السلام) is found in the Qur’aan, and the 7th Imaam’s name is Moosa Al-Kaadhim (عليه السلام). Here is what Al-Sadooq says in his Kamaal Al-Deen: قد قيل إن زرارة قد كان علم بأمر موسى بن جعفر ع و بإمامته و إنما بعث ابنه عبيدا ليتعرف من موسى بن جعفر ع هل يجوز له إظهار ما يعلم من إمامته أو يستعمل التقية في كتمانه ”And it is said that Zuraarah had knowledge of the authority of Moosa bin Ja`far and in his Imaamah, and that he sent his son, `Ubayda, to know from Moosa bin Ja`far (and ask him) If it is permissible for him to make apparent (to the people) what he knows from his Imaamah or should he employ taqiyyah keep it a secret” Source: Al-Sadooq, Kamaal Al-Deen, vol. 1, pg. 77 There is a report that is in Al-Mufeed’s Al-Irshaad that shows that Zuraarah did believe in the Imaamah of Moosa Al-Kaadhim (عليه السلام). But there seems to be a mistake in the matn (content) of this hadeeth (in red). And he said to me: ‘What happened to you?’ I said: ‘Guidance’ and I narrated to him the sotry. He said: Then we met with Zuraarah and Abaa BaSeer and he entered upon him (Moosa Al-Kaadhim) and we listened to his words and asked him (questions), and affirmed his (Imaamah). Then we met with a group of people , and everyone who enter upon him declared in his (Imaamah) except the group of `Ammaar Al-SaabaaTee, and Abdullaah persisted in his claim but only a few people came to him” Source: Al-Mufeed, Al-Irshaad, Ch. On NaSS (textual proof) of Imaam Al-Kaadhim, vol. 2, pg. 221 ^^ Here is the chain to this hadeeth ^^ أخبرني أبو القاسم جعفر بن محمد بن قولويه عن محمد بن يعقوب الكليني عن محمد بن يحيى عن أحمد بن عيسى عن أبي يحيى الواسطي عن هشام بن سالم قال ك The weak link in this isnaad is Abee YaHya Al-WaasiTee he is actually Sahl bin Ziyaad Al-WaasiTee, and he is considered weak by the majority of the classical scholars. But the mistake is actually it WASN’T Zuraarah and Aboo BaSeer who went to visit the Imaam but it was actually FuDayl (bin Yasaar) and Aboo BaSeer who visited the 7th Imaam. This hadeeth is taken from Al-Kaafi. This is the SAME hadeeth, with the SAME isnaad. Here is what the hadeeth says. قَالَ ثُمَّ لَقِينَا الْفُضَيْلَ وَ أَبَا بَصِيرٍ فَدَخَلَا عَلَيْهِ Source: Al-Kulayni, Al-Kaafi, vol. 1,pg. 351, hadeeth # 7 Now based off of history and other narrations it can be EASILY discerned that it was actually FuDayl bin Yasaar who went to our 7th Imaam and believed in his Wilaayah. One way this cannot be true is because there is 0 Hadeeth that Zuraarah narrates from our 7th Imaam, so it seems as this meetings hasn’t occurred. So as you can see, there is ikhtilaaf on whether or not our Zuraarah believed in the 7th Imaam, the majority of our classical scholars or contemporary scholars believe that Zuraarah believed in the 7th Imaam. Even if he didn’t believe in our 7th Imaam and just waqf (stopped) at our 6th Imaam, he is still considered HIGHLY thiqah (trustworth), and his aHaadeeth is still taken as hujjah (proof) and it’ll only lower the status of the narration to Muwaththaq (reliable). So I don't see the big contention. And Allaah knows best. (salam)
