  2. I found this poem looking through some of my notes today. I have been asked a few times to post a poem on the forum. And so I shall post it. Mark well - it was written when I was a younger man. Before I had developed my solid, imperturbable Roman exterior. It says nothing of me now. I am forgotten. Distance has made me no more to you. Your happiness keeps you from seeing me sad. My sadness keeps me from your happiness keeps me from mine you. I am broken. I shall not break your happiness. It is without me. It is without even a memory of me. What do I write? I am forgotten And you are happy. And you are because I am forgotten. I suppose the sub-title should be - Dumb broad. Go to art school. See if I care. You're stupid. I don't. Shut up. No you're acting immature. I don't want to hear it! What?

  8. Yes, if it is made permissible some people completely ignore the guidelines and think they can do a complete rearrangement down there. Most of them are not doing it when a girl is a few days old....they are doing it much later, and the recovery is horrible where they can't even walk, but when men have it done later in life they walk out of the clinic or hospital the same day.

  10. Post #187 is not from me...it was pasted from a website with fatwas from Fadlallah....follow the links and you will see other ones he made when he was alive. This is the first time I have ever looked into FGM to be honest, but I do know that Fadlallah did condemn it, while Sistani doesn't condemn it. This is also the first time I have heard of the Imams supporting this and it is shocking....does that mean that the Imam's wives and daughters were circumcised.....perhaps someone here knows? Did it also have mindless rants about how uncircumcised women promote homosexuality and incest or how the giant clitoris will annoy her husband? LOL

  13. Chapter Two - The Messenger I As the resplendent sun rises from ash beyond the horizon Kufa stares at me with welcoming eyes Distant rays wake the trees And leaves feed on morning’s sight The dusty land welcomes me As the wind behind me displays its might The people flock hesitantly but pledge With warm palms, revelling in delight I ponder whether the pores of their souls Will open or narrow to the light? II The shroud of night falls and the day takes a bow Kufa stares at me behind its veil of darkness now But this time not a voice nor a whisper of a vow Wandering with the wind, listening to its howls As loneliness teases me with death Holding onto the beacon of hope with every breath The many warm affectionate eyes Now turn stone as they blink away Leaving me in the darkness Of the shadow of another day III Throwing their hearts of stone at me They are like the leaves that have voluntarily Let go of the safe branch of their tree To drift in the wind, aimlessly All is black; the world has left my shoulder A messenger with less than a candle holder As I travel out between their souls Souls like hollow caves Swallowing me in their darkness As cowardice finds its slaves IV Now I lay battered, wounded and torn Blood tracing the creases I adorn But no blood could dampen The message this messenger has sent No thirst could sway nor pain torment The sun turns away in shame while the air in fear is still The swords wag their tongues and vultures hover ‘till the kill’ Birds seek shelter while the people lock their doors Their hearts deserted me as guilt is littered all around Death is feasting here without a sound V My heart I feel shatter all over my woeful soul Shallow breaths have given way Heaven has been laced on my tongue today Thrown from height to seal the deed of trust I fall here from dust of dust An angelic arm softens my fall Releasing me once and for all My cage is finally broken; this messenger can seek the sky My sleeping wings awaken, ready to stretch and fly My soul seeking Hussain but Hussain is yet to die VI So here I lay waiting, buried in the dust Of the land that has betrayed the oath of trust But one day nations will tremble Falling gracefully to their knees As Kufa will be the capital of the seven seas And People will remember me, Muslim One of many luminous chapters Of loyalty never to be forgotten Taher Adel Short character biography: Muslim Ibn Aqeel – Muslim Ibn Aqeel was the cousin of Imam Hussain(as) , like many of the offspring of Bani Hashem, Muslim was an excellent warrior and a loyal companion. Imam Hussain(as) sent Muslim as a messenger to confirm the loyalty of the people of Kufa where he was brutally betrayed and slaughtered after battling heroically defending the message of the Imam of his time. This is a poem about a symbol of fortitude. Courage, loyalty and faith personified. His final hour summarise the heart-wrenching reality of Islam, as he walked in the streets of Kufa a stranger in the face of treachery and deceit. “Islam will again be a stranger among men, as it was in the beginning, but blessed is the state of the stranger.” Chapter One - The Free (Hurr Ibn Yazid Alriyahi) Chapter Two - The Messenger (Muslim Ibn Aqueel) Chapter Three - The Loyal (Habib Ibn Muthahir) Chapter Four - The Passionate (Aabis) Chapter Five - The Heartbroken (Ruqayya Bint Alhussain) Chapter Six - The Heir (Qassim Ibn Alhassan) Chapter Seven - The Worshipper (Imam Zaynul Abideen as) Chapter Eight - The Beloved (Sayeda Zainab as) Chapter Nine - The Brave (Ali Al-Akbar Ibn Alhussain as) Chapter Ten - The Innocent (Ali Al-Asghar Ibn Alhussain as) Chapter Eleven - The Selfless (Abbas Ibn Ali as) Chapter Twelve - The Chosen (Hussain Ibn Ali as)

  18. Salaam alaikum sisters, I am new to shiachat and am really enjoying the insights on this forum. I thought I'd post a question to all of you and get your feedback. I recently spoke to a friend who is pursuing her PhD and we got on the topic of the strides that shia women have made in education and the workforce. More than becoming doctors and lawyers, we are college professors, journalists, and working in government and social policy. While I am extremely thankful and proud to be a part of such a group, I have spoken to many sisters who agree that our brothers unfortunately have not kept up with us. Without meaning any disrespect, there are many brothers out there who do value education and successful careers, but from the communities that I've lived in and observed...our women have much more drive than our men. I am focusing more on the younger/2nd generation who were born and raised in the US/Canada. As our prophet and imams have stressed so highly the importance of education, shouldn't we maintain that level along with our other religious obligations?

  19. I have asked this question on several threads in the past, but never received a satisfactory answer, so Insha'Allah someone will be able to help me on this thread. Could those who believe that the Imams (as) are all seeing and all hearing explain to me how their belief is consistent with the following hadith, and if possible could they provide some ahadith to back up their position that the Imams (as) are all seeing and all hearing? http://www.tashayyu....ams-after-death If the Imams are all hearing, then presumably the Prophet (pbuh) is too. So why does he only hear the salam upon him from near his grave, and is merely informed of it when it is delivered from afar? Surely if he was all-hearing, he could hear it from anywhere? Now, as for those that in addition believe that the Imams (as) control every atom of the universe, what is your proof, and what do you make of the following from Shayk Mufid? http://www.tashayyu....ams-after-death The second underlined part again casts doubt on the whole concept of the Imams (as) being all-hearing, since Shayk Mufid specifies that they hear the supplications made in their shrines. If they could generally hear supplications from anywhere, there would be no need to make this specification.

Can you not see what Wahabis are doing to Pakistan (today Wahabiis un-boarded 50 Shia Muslims, women and children included, from a bus going to Iran for ziarat, and killed them in Nazi style machine gun massacre). Man you Wahabis, the mentally blind low life prostitutes of the Zionies, you all deserve the brothels of Israel and Russia. Why are you coming here trying to discuss anything with us Shias? Syria, may be a dictatorship, is at least not selling their souls off to Zionies. If you are sincerely a Sunni, why did you not start a thread about Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, why Syria?

  26. Well, the problem is that lately any religious Sunni we see is nothing but a FULL WAHABI.... You are an example here... You are here like other Wahabis: mad, shouting and barking instead of discussing in a civilized manner. Making excuse on anything to insult Shias, for a Wahabi even the font-color of a text which is really non of your business is something that you need to show madness on and complain like a loser. Grow up kid! You see, you Wahabi Salafi Takfiris are the cause of fitna on this planet. You people are simple jealous because of Shias government in Iran and Shias improvement worldwide. What is your religion anyways? Killing innocent people in mosques, markets, churches, and in your entire history you failed to send at least a few Wahabi groups to Palestine to fight real soldiers in Israel. That is all what you losers are. When it came to IRAQ you all were barking that Shias sided with America... Where we all know that Saddam was the worst fascist and atheist on the planet and America's invasion wasn't Shias fault, but still you sided with those Baathist against Shias... by excusing America you killed millions of innocent Iraqis. What about now? When it comes to SYRIA, now you forgot all about NATO and America support to Wahabi-Takfiri movements? Now, all you see is the innocent 2700 people? What happened to close to a million innocent Iraqis killed in their homes, in their mosques and in their markets? Those killings were justified under the pretext of fighting the Iraqi government? While you monafiq people forgot all about American presence in Bahrain, in Kuwait, in Saudi and other Gulf states.. If you don't feel sympathy for innocent people of Bahrain and close to a million Iraqis killed by wild animal Sunnis, I have no reason to feel sorry for 2700 members of terrorist groups in Syria. Actually, more than half of that 2700 were killed by Salafi terrorist groups and were government soldiers and police.

  27. Personally, I don't think education in an institution or gaining ilm are mutually exclusive. Spending your entire life going to school or working and not bettering yourself from a religious standpoint will not make you successful -- but neither will praying 24 hours a day. My career has not stopped me from gaining knowledge about my religion, rather, it has given me the opportunity to educate non muslims about islam, shia beliefs, and misconceptions. Psychopath, I posed a question, what I hear from other people, and my opinion. I think calling that a crass generalization is somewhat unfair, as I posted for purposes of discussion. I absolutely agree that external factors play a role, however, I still think its unfortunate that the value of education has gone down (if that is in fact the case). Oh and for the record, the sister completing her PhD is focusing her case studies and field work on the very issue of education amongst shia communities across the country, with an emphasis on females.

  28. ^^ And why would I do that? Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn abu Zahir or another man from Muhammad ibn Hammad from his brother Ahmad ibn Hammad from Ibrahim from his father who has said the following. "I said to abu al-Hassan al-Thani (as), ""May Allah take my soul in service for your cause, "Would you tell me about the Prophet who inherited all the prophets." The Imams (as) said, "Yes, I may do so. I asked, "Did he inherit from Adam up to his-self?" The Imams (as) said, "Of prophet that Allah sent Prophet Muhammad (s.a.) was more knowledgeable." I then said, "Jesus son of Mary would bring the dead to life by the permission of Allah." The Imams (a.s.) said, "You spoke the truth. Solomon son of David could understand the language of the birds. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) was also capable of doing such things." The narrator has said that The Imams (as) then said, "Solomon son of David said to the (Hoopoe) Hud Hud when he found him missing and had doubts about the bird. "(Solomon) inspected the birds and said, "How is it that I cannot see the hoopoe {when he did not find him present and became angry}. Is he absent? (27:20). I shall certainly punish him severely or slaughter him unless he has a good reason for his absence." (27:21) He became angry because the bird would show him how to find water. This is only a bird but is given something that is not given to Solomon. The wind, ants, man, Jinn, devils and the rebbles obey him in submission but he did not know about the water in the space but the bird knew it as Allah says iin His book. "Even if the Quran would make mountains move, cut the earth into pieces and make the dead able to speak,. . ." (13:31) We have inherited this Quran which contains such things that can make the mountains move, cross the lands and make the dead to come to life. We know there is water in space. In the book of Aallah there are verses that are indecative of certain issues only if Allah would give permission. This is along with fact that Allah sometime grants permission to make use of the things that people of the past had written. Allah has set them for us in the origin of the book as Allah says, "All the secrets in heavens and earth are recorded in the illustrious Book. (27:75) Then Allah has said, "We gave the Book as an inheritance to Our chosen servants,. . ." (35:32) We are the ones whom Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, has chosen and has given this which contain the explanation of all things." (al-Kafi, H 604, Ch. 33, h 7)

  29. Allah says in Quran: "All the secrets in heavens and earth are recorded in the illustrious Book. (Quran27:75) and Allah says: "We gave the Book as an inheritance to Our chosen servants,. . ." (Quran 35:32) and the Prophet (S) and Holy Imams (A) are His chosen servants who have inherited the knowledge of the Book. ^^ so its no surprise that every secret reveled by Allah is known to the Prophet (S). And Imams عليه السلام have inherited knowledge from the Prophet (S). And that should includes every word ever spoken or to be spoken. Problem solved.

  33. while I appreciate ur concerns; I strongly urge u to go beyond what akhbaris say or usoolis say. It can happen at times that one who talks about justice a lot may do injustice when he does something. Ahlulbayth a.s have taught us certain principles in ghayba and one such principle was hadees e taqleed, which was discussed in a brief. If u look at it; imam a.s is talking about permission to follow such a scholar among Shia who does not mix the indecencies of the aama with truth. Imam a.s further goes on to say "do not take any knowledge from such shia ulema and there is no respect to them at all" now tell me 1. Usoolis borrowed usool e fiqha(an indecency of the aama) 2. Ilm e rijaal (as it stands today is from the aama) and if they clearly are serious about this science then they should not take religion from hadees e taqleed bcos it is a khabar wahid(borrowed from the accursed mutazillites, and the hadees is zaeef according to this system. 3. Usool e deen's compilation is borrowed from Sunnis and mutazallites then a baseless claim that taqleed is not in usool e deen but furoo e deen. So, if someone calls himself akhbari yet applies the principles of aama should not be respected and cannot be followed. And such akhbaris and usoolis can unite and to me both are against what our imam asws has said. Ya ali madad

    Altered Quran..

Salam Yahya When Al Sarkhasi said “أ مَّا حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهَا - فَضَعِيفٌ جِدًّا؛ ” he wasn’t referring to the hadeeth of the goat, but to this hadeeth: وفي حديث عمرة عن عائشة - رضي الله عنهما - قالت : كان فيما أنزل في القرآن عشر رضعات معلومات يحرمن فنسخ بخمس رضعات معلومات يحرمن كان ذلك مما يتلى بعد رسول الله - صلى الله عليه و سلم What was Al Sarkhasi’s difficulty with this statement of Aisha? His difficulty was that Aisha said that a verse which was supposed to have been abrogated in terms of recitation was still being recited even after the death of the Prophet. He found it difficult to believe why this was the case. And if that was the case then why can’t we recite it today? (I believe other scholars adequately explained this as I showed over here http://www.call-to-m...se_on_suckling_) So he therefore believed that this narration was weak for stating this and not that he denied the idea of the suckling verse being abrogated. THEN he goes on to say: وذكر في الحديث فدخل داجن البيت فأكله وهذا يقوي قوله الروافض الذين يقولون كثير من القرآن ذهب بعد رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم فلم يثبته الصحابة Now there is two ways to understand this comment of his. Either he is connecting these two hadeeths together (i.e. the one he declared weak of Aisha where she said that the ten suckling verse continued to be recited after the Prophet’s death and now this hadeeth regarding the goat) and saying that they are a deadly combination. Or he actually believes that the idea of a goat eating the Qur’anic manuscript implies Tahreef. So that is his own personal ijtihaad and he is clearly wrong. The narration doesn’t say that the verse was lost forever because the goat ate it. Did the goat also eat the memories of the companions who memorized those verses? Was that the only hard copy that the several scribes of the Prophet had those verses written on? Plus, we already know what the verse of stoning is, despite its recital abrogation and despite a goat eating up a paper that contained the verse. Also, to go on and make a general comment “which shows he didnt trust the Science of Rijaal that the Sunnis were peddling.” is surprising coming from you Yahya, taking into account that you are studying hadeeth sciences. There are too many scholars out there who would disagree with hadiths that other scholars viewed as authentic either in terms of isnaad or matn. No one has ever understood that this shows that they don’t trust the science of Rijaal of the Sunnis. On the contrary, it only shows that they differed in it’s application sometimes on certain hadiths, but not that they disregarded the ENTIRE SCIENCE! Heck, in Sunni hadeeth sciences you have the muta'akhireen and mutaqadimeen approaches and they actually have significant differences with each other. Yet, despite that no one has seen that as anyone rejecting the science of the Rijaal of the Sunnis. Surely there are Shia scholars who have disagreed with each other on the authenticity of certain narrations right??? Also, the goat narration found in Sunan Ibn Majah has been criticized by some scholars because of the عن and presence of Muhammad ibn Ishaq in the chain. Al Sarkhasi happened to critique the narration from the point of matn because he understood it in a certain way, while others have not. That’s not a big deal. We choose whose arguments are stronger. It’s not like Al Sarkhasi went on to promote the idea of textual Tahreef in the Qur’an or something. Yahya, read what Al Alusi said carefully: وأما كون الزيادة كانت في صحيفة عند عائشة فأكلها الداجن فمن وضع الملاحدة وكذبهم في أن ذلك ضاع بأكل الداجن من غير نسخ كذا في الكشاف Pay attention to the words في أن ذلك ضاع بأكل الداجن من غير نسخ. What is he saying? He is saying that the claim that the verse BECAME LOST and that it was lost NOT DUE TO ABROGATION is the lie. That is what he is condemning Yahya. You could refer to Al Alusi’s commentary and simply read the few sentences before this one and see that Al Alusi accepted recital abrogation. Al Qurtubi must have meant the same thing as Al Alusi. Because shortly before Al Qurtubi said what you cited of him he said this regarding the verse of stoning: وأن آية الرجم رفع لفظها So that shows that Al Qurtubi believed that the verse of stoning was abrogated in terms of recitation. Furthermore, Al Qurtubi cites what the verse of stoning is: وكانت فيها آية الرجم : ( الشيخ والشيخة إذا زنيا فارجموهما البتة نكالا من الله والله عزيز حكيم ) So Al Qurtubi is showing us that we know what the verse of stoning is. Soooo…… Al Qurtubi wouldn’t have thought that a goat eating the verse of stoning and suckling would result in tahreef (since we already know what the verse of stoning is just as Al Qurtubi showed us). No, rather he is responding (just like how Al Alusi did) to those who said that this verse was lost due to reasons not related to recital abrogation. I believe that is the responsible way to understand Al Qurtubi's statement. Salam, Bassam

  45. salaam sir it seems that you are very aware already but i will just add that this is an extremely un healthy situation because the prophet has said " the bigger the mahr of a woman the more of a bad luck she is" now many people relate muakhar to divorce but in reality muakhar is just part of the dowry where the payment of it is delayed and hence the name (muakhar) It becomes obligatory on your neck the moment you get married.... its just the payment time which is delayed to the end of the marriage.. the reason people link it to divorce is because when the relation ends both parties have to finalize and close their accounts as they will depart. the time for payment of muakhar will depend on the conditions that they agree on mahr can not be used as an insurance policy In islam the divorce is in the hand of the man by default and if the girl wants to divorce but she has no good reason then she gets forced to seek khul3 where she will be forced to compensate him for unreasonably breaching the contract so she usually gives up the mahr to obtain the divorce. $50 000 is a crime, and this amount will make bad luck for the pair , i mean he is free to give money as presents but to give such big money under the label of mahr is bad luck as the prophet said divorce rates are as high as 75% in some places so putting such a big debt on your neck is not worth it at all he should say to the girl that he will not put a debt on his neck .. if they insist on big mahr i advice to leave them and look for a girl that is not materialistic . it happened to me , i was stupid but also a big mahr was requested and divorce happened but the divorce was un reasonable so i asked her to give up her right to the moakhar to give her the divorce but i still lost thousands of dollars and and it put me years behind which until today i haven't fully recovered . after that i married many times and the mahr i paid was allways very small salaam

  46. Interesting! Shia have much better explanation of this hadith then Sunni. Sunnis have issued different lists of these twelve caliphs. Some of them even say that Prophet (pbuh) said but did not tell the names so no need to ponder about it. Why so? Do they think that Prophet (pbuh) said this "hadith" without any reason? Was the prophet (pbuh) sent to say useless things? Did the prophet (pbuh) said useless words? (God forbid). Instead of questioning Shia explanation place your faith and explanation before the mirror and after seeing name of Yazeed (La'een) as your sixth Imam/calph curse the scholars who gave this filthy interpretation. Your thought is not more than inspiration of Shaitan. You are easily using words of "I think" very easily for a pillar of faith. Why we need to prove his (a.s) existence? It is matter of faith. We have better sources and evidence and we have faith. How you can prove to a Christian about the fact that Jesus a.s was raised to heaven and is still alive? He wants proof of his a.s existence? Do you intend to sent some space ship for search of Jesus a.s in the skies to prove his a.s existence? Have you sent some mission to search the cave where Ashab e Kahaf are sleeping? How you will prove the existence of Ashab e Kahaf to pagans? O follower of Shaitan! Quran says that martyrs are alive then how you can prove their existence to Christians, Jews or HIndus? Your objection to existence of Imam a.s is same as the objection of Jews and Christians about the life of martyrs as mentioned in Quran. Purify your heart first to see the light my dear. Though your question is objectionable and wrong still I would like to ask about this hadith of Prophet (pbuh). There are examples of Ashab e Kahaf, the long life of Khizar a.s, the long life of Hazrat Uzair a.s. What example Sunnis have for the Ummah of Muhammad (pbuh)? Occultation of Imam (a.s) is not something not found in previous Ummah. It is explicitly mentioned in Quran so educate yourself and purify your faith.

  48. you know your shia when theres that awkward moment during a conversation with sunnis as you mention the caliphs in order, and you have the semi heart attack when you realise your friends are expecting you to say (ra) after the first three names, so you say "raazi Allah naa ho" and hope they dont notice (raazi Allah naa ho = paki for "may Allah never be pleased with them)
