Do I Tell My Future Wife Of My Past?
3UINE KARBALAIE and one other reacted to Ruq for a topic
Well, i think you have to ask yourself why you dont want to tell her and what sort of a relationship you want. Do you want a relationship where you can be open about who you are (including who you were) and feel accepted for that? or one where you may have in the back of your mind 'but if she knew this, would she still want to be with me?' etc. Secrets and lies can be very destructive things, people tend to feel like better people when they can be open and honest and feel guilty when they keep secrets and lies ad that informs your behaviour, so it depends how keeping secrets or lying affects you. Also you have to take into consideration that your partner could find out about these things youre not sure to share, how would that likely play out? As a general rule its better to be as open and honest as possible i would say, for the sake of your own peace of mind as much as anything else. It feels good to be accepted for all you are.2 points -
Yes tell her. Id actually murder a man who lied to me about something like that. It may not be islamically required, but morally - its the right thing to do.2 points

Some observational facts about sunnis; 1- When it comes to Allah and satan, they follow Allah with satan's ideology. (Ibless become satan when he rejected to follow whom Allah wanted all to follow, Satan disobeyed by saying only Ya Allah). 2- When it comes to Prophet s.a.w and companions, they follow Prophet s.a.w but put the companions in better position in morals (Abu Bakr leading prayer of Prophet s.a.w, Umer reminding prophet s.a.w about Islamic laws etc). 3- When it comes to Ahle Biat a.s and companions, they say we love Ahle Bait a.s but you see them taking religion from their killers. 4- When it comes to chose narrations, they take it from people with highly suspicious character and in proving that person right, they just forget if person is jew or non muslim. Ya Allah help them, they are our brothers. Deviants but we love them and want them to come back to what prophet s.a.w told us to hold on to it. Amin2 points -

Pseudo-akhbari Accusations Against the Maraaji'
Al-Hassan and one other reacted to Haydar Husayn for a topic
It sounds like this place might as well be called Usoolichat. So let me get this straight, Sayyid Khomeini, in a position to influence tens of millions of Shias, makes chess halal, in contradiction with many authentic ahadith, the entire history of Shia scholarship, and the rulings of virtually every other living scholar, and that doesn't make him a deviant, or at least nobody can say anything? But if someone, in a position to maybe influence a few thousand Shias at best, wants to offer a different opinion on taqlid, ijtihad, or khums, using ahadith and the opinions of major Shia scholars of the past (and presumably some contemporary Akhbari scholars), then he is a dangerous deviant? Can someone explain how this makes any sense? What if tomorrow some marja of the level of knowledge Khomeini had came out and declared khums is not wajib (unlikely perhaps given what MysticKnight has said, but still), then would that view become ok then, and the 'pseudo-Akhbaris' be readmitted into the mainstream Shia fold? As for akhlq, which brother Orion was talking about earlier, I think the 'ultra-Usoolis' are as guilty of poor akhlaq as the 'pseudo-Akhbaris'. They are certainly guilty of more intolerance. And this thread is a perfect example of both. Note that I am not defending any particular position on the khums issue (although no doubt certain people will jump to their own conclusions anyway), but just making observations about what has been said in this thread.2 points -

Instead of coming out of the tunnel seeing my sister and mum and everyone....i'm in another world; a world with FAT people. Not even a little bit fat but everyones humongous! Anyways, I'm surrounded by these fat people. They look at me like i'm some kinda candy or something. I'm really scared, i try closing my eyes to think its just a dream and that i'm back at the park playing but i just open my eyes to these fat people. They feed me and feeed me and feed me all kinds of things to make me as humongous as them so that i can't escape or something. I remember watching a film which has a similar story to what i was facing and then i tell them i wanna go to the toilet or something and run away through the cat flap and then this little rabit helps me get out of the house and then bammmmm, i wake up nearly in tears :|2 points

LOL. Well, it doesn't really take a lot of thought to see that it's a load of hogwash. The "medicines" of homeopathy don't contain any medicine. This is not a hidden matter - it's out in the open. Homepathic remedies consist of distilled water. Highly, highly overpriced distilled water. Nice business if you can get it, I guess. Actually, in a way, a brilliant one up on the classic snake oil salesman. If this newer version of the scam, they even cut out the snake oil! Current mainstream medicine could certainly use some improvement - a holistic broader perspective would certainly help. But it is a huge logical fallacy to go from this to concluding that the quack placebo medicine of homeopathy has any value.1 point -

Pseudo-akhbari Accusations Against the Maraaji'
14infallibles reacted to haideriam for a topic
(bismillah) (salam) from my poor understanding a true shia would never hurt a muslim cause and likewise a true akhbari should never hurt a shia cause. this excessive fitna type division can only be the tool of the shayateen. discuss without insults and excessive stands unless it be the likes of the fitna mongers two of whom are well known in london. don't discuss them and stay away from them for they do not deserve your thoughts. a good example for my naive shia brothers is bro macissac who is not usooli per se but always understands the shia cause therefore can we cut this 'nightmare of the usooli' thing bro mdm. and let each of us not portray that we know it all we are too too far away from what the known scholars have given us. if there ever was something so blatantly wrong about any of the maraaja fatawas there are other great scholars to express it. learn to recognize and fit into our own shoes. one should not exceed one's depths. Pseudo-akhbari Accusations Against the Maraaji'
Ali Hayder reacted to Marbles for a topic
^ You could start the thread with a post detailing the purpose of the thread in precise words. Why did you particularly bring in Ayatullah Sistani and his views on Khums and later diverted the topic to something different? Not to mention that the title of thread is eye catching. It served the purpose. ----- I believe it's a planned and organised attempt to cleanse SC from real or pseudo Akhbaris, a certain admin included, who have a different approach to Usoolis in matters of jurisprudence. Not very helpful in times when Shia need to accept their differences and reach on a consensus to fight their Takfiri enemies instead of leaping at each other's throats.1 point -
Salaam Aleikum, I have heared many times from modern Muslims that this verse is related to Big Bang, which is actually totally wrong. Today i found the answer from our Imams (as) about this verse: [Shakir 21:30] Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were closed up, but We have opened them; and We have made of water everything living, will they not then believe? Imam Muhammad bin Ali al Baqir (as) said: Ratqan does not mean that the heavens and the earth were joined together or formed an integrated mass. They were closed up in a sense that there was no rain-water coming from the sky on the earth, therefore plants and vegetation did not grow on the surface of the earth. When Allah created life on the earth, He sent down from the sky rain-water which is the ultimate support, direct or indirect, of all life on the earth. Imagine, this is coming from 1400 years ago.1 point

This doesn't mean that the Big Bang Theory is wrong but the aya 21:30 is frequently misquoted to support the theory when in fact it is talking about something else altogether. Why is there a problem with serial monogamy? I think we have to admit that in modern societies this is probably going to have to become the norm for most young perople for some period. Young people get interested in the opposite sex in their early to mid teens, but are not able to get married until mid 20's or after. What to do in between? In terms of whether I would give permission to my daughter, yes, I would, given conditions and supervision. (and this is not a hypothetical question - I have a daughter, though fortunately she's only 4, so I have at least a decade before I have to really deal with these issues.) Trust is not a 1/0 on/off switch type matter. There are degrees of trust. As a father of a daughter, I'd relax and allow progressively more trust as it is earned over time. A young man asks if he can take my daughter out to a cup of coffee or a movie in a public venue. Why not? Especially if you drop her off there before and pick her up after. You can also get a feel on the young man by having him over for dinner to your home or asking around with other parents. Without going into too much detail, there are ways to keep the process under watch and under control.1 point

Aabiss_Shakari reacted to The Green Knight for a topic
The thing is, whichever side wins any or all of such debates, it'll change nothing for the people of the other side. A riot can ensue and it can result in a ban, or murder if its in real life. Thats how it has been since 1400 years. Take this thread as an example. People wooing for both Farid and the other guy, and with each "intellectual" "blow" by their respective champion, their belief increases. We all choose what to believe and simply use such things to augment that belief. We don't see what is, we see what we want to see. Even if I or someone else post screen shots of Farid's countless and massive failings during his stay here at SC, it'll change nothing for his cheerleaders.1 point -

AG15 reacted to Praetorius for a topic
There needs to be an appropriate distinction made between Shias who shove Mutah down everyone's throats, and those Shias who DEFEND it against people who demonize and frown upon it. Haidar Husayn, 14infallibles, and Alimohammad40 belong in the latter category, and therefore should be exonerated from supposedly trying to enforce Mutah upon the masses (from what I read, that is what you are accusing them off, right Deeeebo?). Also, questions such as "would you allow your own sisters/relatives to engage in Mutah?" etc. are not befitting of a learned Shia. I advise you refrain from posing such questions, because while Mutah is hala'al, it is not Wajib (again, I'm simply repeating what you have stated Deeeeebo), so it is ultimately up to the individuals if they wish to proceed with it. EDIT: Before I am attacked from all sides for my views, let it be known that I have tried to contract Mutah twice in my life, albeit unsuccessfully, so please, save all your insults of me being a hypocrite.1 point -

Aabiss_Shakari reacted to Saved for a topic
Saima, you are a Sunnee. So, what mind are you making up again? In any case, have you ever asked yourself if this rijaal thing can be applied to the Qur'aan too? Izan, could you please provide a SINGLE Saheeh or Hasan chain for the Qur'aan as per Sunnee rijaal? Actually, the Qur'aan has only one extremely weak chain as per Sunnee rijaal! Sunnee scholars instead claim tawaatur for it, without really bringing the rijaal-tested chains that form together to make it mutawaatir. If rijaal is so unimportant when it comes to the Qur'aan, why do we make so much noise? Secondly, Sunnees grade all the Sahaabah as "trustworthy" when there are in reality terrible liars among them! I exposed two of them in this article http://www.wilayat.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1097:Moin-al-Nasibi-Fails-Again-Concerning-the-Sahabah-%28Part-2%29&catid=71:05-Sahabiat-%28Companionship%29. They are Waleed ibn 'Uqbah and Aboo Hurayrah. I have provided undeniable instances of them both LYING! And I wrote this one too to expose another LIAR among the senior Sahaabah http://www.wilayat.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1504:Mu-tab-ibn-Qushayr-The-Tragedy-of-a-Badr-Warrior-Who-Turned-And-Died-A-Hypocrite&catid=70:05-Biographies-of-Sahaba-General. It is Allaah Himself who has called him a LIAR. So, as you can see, the ROOT of the Sunnee rijaal system is very faulty. How can anything be sensible about it? Finally, who gave people like Yahya ibn Mo'een, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, al-Bukhaaree, and others the authority to judge the reliability of others? NONE! Rijaal as a whole revolves around the contradictory "opinions" of some self-imposed "judges"! May Allaah save us from its evil.1 point -

A shocking waste of time! How does this "debate" address the 'Aqeedah and rituals of Islaam, that have now been eaten away by Bid'ah viruses.
