  1. (salam) dear sisters, Read this beautiful story! Lin was a beautiful young Chinese woman who recently got married but, because neither she nor her husband had enough money to buy a house of their own, they had to live with her mother-in-law. After some time, she began butting heads with her mother-in-law and had a difficult time adapting to her. Their personalities were very different and Lin became increasingly irritated with her mother-in-law's customs and habits, which she constantly criticized. Over the months, things got so bad that life became unbearable. However, according to Chinese ancient traditions, a daughter-in-law must always be at her mother-in-law's service. Lin, unable to bear the idea of living with her mother-in-law any longer, decided to go see a master, an old friend of her father. After hearing the young woman, master Huang grabbed a bunch of herbs and said: "You shouldn't use all of these herbs at once to get rid of your mother-in-law because it may raise suspicions. You should mix them in with her food, little by little, day by day, this way she'll be slowly poisoned. To be sure that no one suspects anything when she dies, you should be very careful and always treat her with great kindness. Don't argue with her and always lend a hand with whatever she needs." Lin replied, "Thank you, master Huang, I will do everything you've said." Lin was thrilled and returned home enthusiastic about the plan to kill her mother-in-law. During several weeks, Lin served her mother-in-law a specially prepared meal every other day. She always kept in mind master Huang's advice to avoid suspicion: she controlled her temper, obeyed her mother-in-law and treated her as if she were her own mother. After six months, the whole family was transformed. Lin kept her temper under control and almost never got upset. Months passed, and she hadn't argued at all with her mother-in-law, who also seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. Her mother-in-law's attitude changed and they began treating each other like mother and daughter. One day, Lin went back to master Huang to ask him for help and said: "Master, please help save my mother-in-law from dying. She has become such a nice person and I love her as if she were my own mother. I don't want her to die because of the poison I've been giving her." Master Huang smiled and nodded, "Lin, don't worry. Your mother-in-law hasn't changed. You were the one who changed. The herbs I gave you were actually vitamins to improve her health. The poison was in your attitude and was replaced by the love and affection you began dedicating to her." Now, dear friends, prepare the herbs and begin the treatment with your mothers-in-law! :D

  2. We all heard the stories about the Israelis storming the Gaza Flotilla and ended up killing 9 people. The media said Israeli used 'heavy handed tactics' to stop the Flotilla from reaching Gaza, the Israelis said they were 'defending' themselves. however ... It has emerged that the Mavi Marmara of the Flotilla was purposely targeted. That the 9 killed were on a hit-list. Sensational claims yes, but let's look at the evidence. Here we see a list of photos and names that a captured Israeli soldier had on him when boarding the Flotilla. The soldier was being treated by the activists on the Flotilla. Here we see a soldier assassinating the activist at point blank range http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_flotilla_raid#Deaths The Mavi Marmara ship had activists from a large range of backgrounds, Arabs, westerners, Pakistanis as well as Turks. Only Turks were targeted. So the questions are: 1 - Why only Turks? and 2 - Why were they executed? The Flotilla attack made huge headlines. The whole purpose was for a media frenzy to ensue. The purpose was to make Turkey look as if it was a 'friend' of Syria and Iran. This all started when Erdogan (apparently) became anti-Israeli, and his first move was at the World-Economic Forum. Next, Erdogan became 'pro-Iran' and defended Iran's nuclear program. Brazil and Turkey Near Nuclear Deal With Iran - NYTimes.com http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/17/world/middleeast/17iran.html The world reported that Turkey was now shifting away from Europe, to the East Turkey's Shifting Foreign Policy: What Next? - Carnegie Europe http://carnegieeurope.eu/publications/?fa=41198 Turkey Rediscovers the Middle East - http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/62649/f-stephen-larrabee/turkey-rediscovers-the-middle-east US blames EU for Turkey's eastward shift - http://eurodialogue.org/osce/US-blames-EU-for-Turkey-eastward-shift So the Trojan was set. Now comes operation destroy Syria. This was planned years in advance and has cost Saudi billions. Turkey had two roles in the downfall of Syria, which really is also an attack against Iran, Lebanon and Gaza. 1: The armed terrorists that were to cause havoc in Syria came through the Turkish border 'Syria armed groups flee to Turkey' - http://www.presstv.ir/detail/183804.html for which caused Syria to tighten the border with Turkey. Let's not forget, Turkey is a NATO member. No anti-Israeli country can become a NATO member. Turkey has several military contracts with the Israelis and undertake joint military exercises. The US has declared that NATO bases in Italy will be closed and moved to Turkey so that the base in Turkey can be beefed up. Also, Turkey stopped any new ships traveling in the Flotilla 2 and refused to take part in it. If they were really worried about Gaza, they would have sent another ship. 6. I just learnt about a great man and felt guilty by not knowing him before Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Abul Ma'ali Shahab ad-Din Muhammad Hussain Mar'ashi Najafi (July 1, 1897 - August 31, 1990) (Arabic: اية الله العظمى السيد شهابالدين الحسينى المرعش‎) was an Iraqi born Marja-i Taqleed. A prominent jurisprudent and Islamic scholar, he was also the founder of the Grand Library of Mar'ashi Najafi in Qom, Iran. He is widely credited within the Shia world for having selflessly salvaged many thousands of rare, near destroyed or lost Islamic books an manuscripts. Today, this library contains the largest collection of Shia manuscripts in the world.[1] http://www.marashilibrary.com/english/index.html His library is considered the third largest one in middle east Whilst studying in Najaf, Sayid Najafi became growingly concerned with the immense wealth of Islamic knowledge that was being lost in the displacement and destruction of Shia texts. He took it upon himself to purchase as many rare books and manuscripts that he could on his modest clerical stipend in order to preserve them. When his stipend was exhausted, he took a job at a rice cleaning factory in Najaf,[4] performed Qada prayers and fasts on behalf of others, and ate only one meal a day in order to raise enough money to purchase these books.[5] Sayid Najafi continued to collect these rare Shia manuscripts once he migrated to Iran. In 1965, he presented 278 rare manuscripts in Arabic and Persian to the University of Tehran College of Theology and Divinity.[6] He would continue to donate many of these books to libraries across Iran. In 1965, he was able to found the Marashiyah Islamic Seminary in Qom, where he allocated a number of rooms for the purpose of housing these books. It was not long before these rooms were formally designated as a library. The large number of visitors to this library soon required that it be expanded. For this purpose, 1,000 square feet (93 m2) of adjoining land was purchased in order to expand the existing library in 1970.[6] In 1974, the reference section of this library was inaugurated. 1,600 rare Shia manuscripts were added to this collection, which was followed by a further 500 manuscripts that were donated to the library's treasury.[6] In 1989, the supreme guide of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Grand Ayatollah Sayid Mostafavi Mousavi Ruhollah Khomeini issued a decree ordering that the library be built an extension of 16,000 square feet (1,500 m2). At present both the old and the new buildings of the grand library occupies a total area of 21,000 sq. meters.[6] Sayid Najafi laid the first stone of the foundation of the new library. from wiki just a little about a great man

  7. The momentum has died. The 'Arab Spring' is virtually dead, there are no more 'uprisings' happening other than Bahrain and Yemen. In North-Africa it's over. Spring is now Autumn. The UN has sent a 'fact finding' mission to Syria, which means Assad has earned a lot more time. Many of the terrorists have either been killed, captured or have run-off with the money Saudi gave them. Add to that the fact that Syria's re-activated the PKK causing more troubles for Turkey, and with China & Russia promising to veto any resolutions which includes sanctions against Syria, it's actually looking good for Bashar, so not sure on what basis you formulate your conclusions on. Only option they have now is Assad's assassination, which many have been forecasting. They have no other choice if they want to try break Syria. But many are saying Maher Al-Assad could take Bashar's position, and he's even tougher to deal with. But Syria has for a while made backup plans in case Bashar is assassinated. So it doesn't look good for the US. They may have secured Libya's pure oil, clean water and Gold bullion, but it's not enough to get the US out of the woes its facing, China is still on the up&up and it won't let the US have a complete monopoly over the world's energy, which is what this whole Syria war is about.

Even though it's quite simple to create another group with restrictions applied to that group which only permit opening of topics, but not replying to topics, the request has been refused and mod preview has also been removed. baradar janem, the contribution made by you and others like you are needed to keep a balance in the site otherwise it'll be overrun by haters and misinformation will spread unchecked. There are many trying to pacify the political aspect of Islam thus turning us into nothing more than humiliated and powerless folks. But alhamdulillah with the steadfastness of most Shia our people have been able to resist and weather those onslaughts with our weapons being a mix of scholarship and passion manifesting from karbala, a fire that will forever burn inshAllah :)

  9. Never been to Iran, but I have heard nothing whatever that suggests that Iran is full of closet atheists dying to overthrow the evil regime. As far as I can tell most people opposed to the government do so within the framework of Shia Islam, not militant atheism. Can't speak about their personal piety. I have noticed the diaspora tends to be pretty nationalistic, if not racist and honestly view it with a bit of distaste. Maybe it is because I hang out on history forums, but they always insist Iran was great and awesome before evil Islam was forced on the them by the Arabs and after that it has all been terrible. Problem is, that's really not a very accurate statement at all, and they seem perfectly willing to ignore historical facts and just hate on Arabs. Maybe it is because I have had a few bad experiences, and forums are not usually the most polite places or the best to get an impression of a whole group, but my brushes with them have left me with a negative impression of the Iranian diaspora. EDIT: And actually, by world standards, a youth unemployment rate of 20% is not very remarkable. It is about 18% in the US and usually hovers around 25% in France. Spain is close to 40% IIRC. If Iran's youth unemployment rate is a roughly 20% it is about in line with the world average, no more, no less.

  10. (bismillah) Brother Endless, I used to wonder about this too, and then a brother at the local mosque explained it to me. When the mal3ooneen came to Imam Ali (A.S)'s house demanding he pay bay3a' to Abu Bakr, the Imam had three options. Either A) Pay Bay3a' to a man lower than him and legitimize the manipulation of the Caliphate (which is haram), B ) Stay and inside and be killed, or C) Go outside and fight and kill the oppressors (or be killed), but defy the Prophet's (SAWS) orders to be patient and not to fight back after his death. Had the Imam fought and killed the oppressors, Islam would have collapsed. Think about it, to any non-Muslim, if after the Prophet (SAWS) passes, his companions fought and killed each other, does this seem like a religion you would want to follow? I think not. So this also was not an option. Both the Imam and Sayyeda Fatema (as) knew this, and so Sayyeda Fatema (as) was willing to sacrifice her life for her Imam, not just because he was her husband, but in order to saver the Imamate and Islam as a whole. I hope this clears things up, and if I have made any mistakes, I would hope any brothers or sisters would forgive me and correct me.

  11. I've shared this story before, but I'll do it again as this thread calls for it: In Iraq last year, we had this pregnant sister in our group, but she was very early in her pregnanancy so she didn't have any of the signs (like a bump). Only a few of us knew she was pregnant (me included as her husband was rooming with me so he had told me). Anyway, it was time to leave our meeting with Ayatollah Sistani. When it was the ladies' turn to leave, each lady walked past him and Ayatollah did not look at any of them and kept looking at the floor. When this pregnant lady walked past him, as she approached, he raised his head and looked up at her and told his assistant (I think it was his son) to tell her to sit down, he wants to pray for her baby. So he put his hand above her head and did a dua for the baby. The question lies as to how he knew she was pregnant without even looking at her, let alone ever meeting her before. True story. The man overall has such an aura around him, I cannot explain it. You just can't stop looking at him. He is very softly spoken and just so humble. Such a great person.

  17. ShahHussein how is needing women to work so you can afford to marry more than one the law of Allah? Doesn't that contradict that a woman must be available for her husband every second that he needs her? What if he needs her to satisfy his needs in the middle of the day and all of the women are at work? Do you suggest one of them leave and risk her job because she is working to provide her own private home which he should be providing in the first place? They do that in Lebanon too.....they come knock on your door some poor old women in a dirty abaya. It is sad and makes me furious. I think what the other women on here are saying is that if a man wants to demand all of his rights a woman has the right to demand everything that is her right. As another woman on here stated earlier "women do much more than they are required to do and don't ask for anything". I don't know OneNoteSong maybe he can pay the new wife to come clean your house for you LOOOL.

  21. I just want to know that having >1 permanent wife is financially feasible in Australia, alimohamad40's home, with his level of income, since he is such a huge proponent of it. I can say everything is each person's own business. I can say we shouldn't even be discussing any of this because marriage is each person's own business. Yet, we still discuss it. I just want to know that for the average Muslim, esp those living in countries like Australia, having multiple wives is financially feasible. Okay, alimohamad40, are you only planning to have one permanent wife and other temporary ones? Or will you have >1 permanent one? Haider, you said that having temporary wives is also a solution. Solution to what problem? Not getting enough sex? I'm sure one dedicated wife is all that's necessary to fulfill a man's urges, unless what he's looking for is variety. Btw, back to the original question, I'm not sure jealousy in and of itself is a sin because I have been taught that only actions, not thoughts, can be considered sinful.

    How Fatima(r.a) Died?

Why insult him? Why don't you let him explain what his thoughts on the matter are? Is his opinion worth less than yours? Everyone is entitled to his opinion. In fact, I welcome the fact that he made the effort to come and write a piece about what he believes, in a very coherent and very respectful manner. You think that you're 'defending' Ahlul Bayt, and yet you forsake their most important lesson - akhlaq, and to treat people with respect. @umar farooq, thank you dear brother for making this post, I may not agree with you, but I appreciate the effort you've made. 32. Salaam Brother I urge you to go to www.answering-ansar.org and read the topic, who killed Imam Hussain a.s. Shias of Imam Ali a.s did not betray Imam Hussain a.s. Try to read those letters written by shias and written by non shias to Imam Hussain a.s, you will see the reality in the content of letters. Before Yazid rose to power, his father Muawiyah ruled for 20 yrs. Imagine the shia killings around muslim empire in those 20 years. Kufa was under the command of Zeyad Bin Abi Syfayan and later under his son Ibn Zeyad. Both killed so many shias of Imam Ali a.s. People who invited Imam Hussain a.s, among them, there were real shias of Imam Ali a.s, there were general muslims who had suffered by Umayyans and their tyrant rule but were not shias and there were some hypocrites who wanted worldly gains. The real shias of Imam Ali a.s were just few in numbers and you can imagine this by reading that when Muslim Bin Aqeel a.s took first bayat, it was taken inside the house of Hani a.s. 40 thousand people cannot gather inside the house of those days. There are many other facts. Please gain your knowledge by reading. JazakAllah

    Mu'awiyah Was A Nasibi!

I would like to see your evidence for this! Are you saying that when Sunni scholars say in their books that someone is a Nasibi, it means that he is "established, elevated and nominated"? You know the most apparent problem with your submission? Let us both re-look at this verse of the poem: æßáåã ÞÏ ßÇä äÇÕÈíÇð * ÅáÇ ÇáÅãÇã ÚãÑ ÇáÊÞíÇ Now, I will use your translation: All of them (i.e. the Umayyad caliphs) were established, elevated and nominated except Imam ‘Umar The Pious: Are you saying that 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-Aziz was NOT established, niominated or appointed? Secondly, these are the definitions given to the word Nasibi by the Sunni scholars culled from Answering-Ansar: Defining a Nasibi For an introduction to the literal meaning of Nasibi we have relied on the definitions stipulated by several recognised Ahl'ul Sunnah scholars: 1. Qamus, page 53, Chapter 2. Taj al Uroos, Volume 4 page 277 3. Lisan al Arab, page 762 4. Hadiya al Sahil ay adalta al Masail, page 96 5. Tadrib al-Rawi, Volume 1 page 328 6. Mu'awiyah Was A Nasibi!

You're comparing the Holy Prophet (s) and Maula Ali (a) with Muawiyah? That's akin to comparing diamonds with rubble. The Prophet (s) and his Holy Progeny (a) are the best of creation, mandatory for ALL Muslims to love, honour and obey as per Quranic command & Prophetic narration - is there similar for Muawiyah? He waged war against Maula Ali Úáíå ÇáÓáÇã. He ordered the poisoning of Imam Hassan (a) and reneged on treaty to appoint his own lana'ati son which led not only to tragedy of Karbala but also sacking of Madinah and bloodshed in Makkah. There are universally agreed narrations about his greed and his being responsible for the killing of honourable sahaba ®. You people carry on defending this low-life character all you want, at least we know where you stand. We'll stick to the Holy Prophet (s) and the Ahlulbayt (a) thanks, at least in them there is ZERO doubt. ALI

  48. Istikhara should be a last option when you have exhausted every possible logical endeavour. This isn't a difficult situation logically, just emotionally. Sorry to say this bro but you need get a grip. She is a non-Muslim. Even putting aside the religious aspect of marrying a non ahlul kitab person (unless she is?), you aren't thinking about the difficulties after marrying her. Don't you want you children to be on the path of the Ahlul Bayt? Using an istikhara here was a lazy cop-out bro. Use it when you are really in a state of confusion. This is not confusion, this is letting your emotions get the better of you.

  49. (bismillah) Alhamdulilah, I managed to meet with the Sayyid himself (albeit after lengthy negotiations) but it was quite brief as the Sayyid had much demand on his time. I did manage to ask him quite a lot of questions, those that I couldn't, I asked from the committee of Istifta (a council of scholars) from his office. I was told signed fatwas would take a couple of weeks (which I didn't have), but I have the telephone number of the Najaf office for those wishing to confirm the answers. Some of these I have answered in the Laws and Jurisprudence forum, so check there if you don't see your question answered here. Regarding tatbeer, the Sayyid was rather evasive and initially said 'it is under review, but the fatwas given previously should be acted upon'. When I asked him to clarify the issue of damage to the view of Islam (the damage to personal health is obvious), he said 'anything in which the bad outweighs the good is not permissible'. Again, I asked if Tatbeer had this effect but he replied 'it is to be judged by the people'. So, I really couldn't get a straight answer. As for being a lawyer in the West, he said it is not permissible to lie nor defend/prosecute someone whom you knew to be guilty/innocent. The question about educating children with music, the Sayyid said 'you cannot educate a child with immoral music, because no education is possible from it, and the music is haram'. When I gave the scenario, the Sayyid said 'in these instances, the music used is not of the corrupt type, since nursery rhymes are not used by the immoral people'. Concerning the questions on khums, the Sayyid said 'it is only the duty of the husband to pay the khums, and during his lifetime or after, it is not obligated on his wife or children to pay it, but they can if they want to'. The office of the Sayyid said that khums must be paid on the value of the item purchased from money intended for khums. Regarding Sachedina, the Sayyid only said that his view on the matter still stands. About copyrights and pirated software, the Sayyid said 'if when you purchase an item, you make an agreement you will observe the relevant stipulations (eg. copyright, non-distribution, etc) with the vendor, then you must. However, there is no harm in purchasing software copied without the owner's permission, but it is best to seek permission if the owner is a Muslim'. Regarding the Pharmacist, the Sayyid said 'the blame of a subsequent act such as abortion is not shared by the pharmacist who provided the drugs'. The Sayyid and his office were both adamant that a fatwa prohibiting the marriage of alawi (sayeda) women with non-sayyids was never issued and anyone asserting so is a liar. As for Sayyid Fadhlallah, the Sayyid was again very evasive. He would only say that he does not have a fatwa on the matter, nor does he express his view on it. After I pressed him for an answer on the permissibility of doing Sayyid Fadhlallah's taqleed, he would only say that the muqallid should follow the common laws on taqleed and abide by them. His office said that the Sayyid does not comment on another person's marjai'iyah and that he does not have an opinion or fatwa on it. About the women wanting a divorce in a remote area, the Sayyid said 'all efforts must be exerted to make contact with the mujtahid and since someone knows of her situation, they should be the intermediary and use the available means of communication'. Concerning the sunni Nikah, the office said that 'seeking permission of the father is paramount, if unintentionally it was not sought and the permission can be sought now, even after marriage, the marriage will be valid, otherwise a marriage without the permission of the guardian is void. His office stated that 'poetry is permissible provided that it does not contain immoral speech or lies or things damaging to Islam or Muslims'. About the hawzah and its lack of standardised teaching, the Sayyid said 'as long as the school of the Ahlulbayt is taught properly, there is no harm in it being taught differently'. His office agreed that it had been hoped for a while that the Hawzahs would become more structured, but that the political situation had put progress back several years. The Sayyid was in good health, he smiled frequently and focused his attention entirely on what the speaker was saying. He never turned away when I was speaking and would not interrupt me until I finished talking. He does have a thick Iranian accent, but he does understand Iraqi slang and his replies in Arabic, whilst formal, were quite clearly said. He understood immediately what the question was and his replies were without hesistation. He was quite astute and his replies were said in certainty. He was seated on the floor and invited me to sit next to him. His voice was soft and his face quite warm and friendly. Even though this feeling of overwhelming respect was hovering inside, his humbleness relaxed me throughout the meeting. His house was very simple, we were served some traditional tea and offered biscuits. The only sight of furniture was chairs for those in the waiting area. I conveyed the greetings of all ShiaChatters to the Sayyid who told me he was very proud of those who did not let distance stop them from gaining Islamic knowledge. I asked him a few personal questions such as his newfound voice in politics and his keeping himself in his house, and the Sayyid replied with a smile and short answer that 'you do what is best at the time'. The people at the office were equally friendly and were impressed that brothers and sisters all over the world had such deep questions and observed Islam so well.
