When what is the alternative to democracy in your opinion, especially in these times of the long occultation? Accept anyone who claims to be the Yamani? Crown Ahmad al-Hasan as the king of the world on the basis of Hadith referring to the Yamani? The most you lot have been able to say in support of him is "do istikhara". I dunno, but from what i read of the Yamani I excepted him to be a doer, man of action, a harbinger of the return of the Mahdi, a strong leader of Shias. Not someone who depends on people to hunt Internet forums trying to scrounge up some followers while he remains hidden from the public. After all we dont expect the Sufyani to hide and to go around asking Wahabis and Zionists on the internet "Im the Sufyani and you gotta support me achieve my destiny"3 points

This is an interesting video i came across from Baba Ali: "One thing i always find funny is how people take so much pride in things such as race and color. But what did we do to be proud of it? You can "oh I was born in this country!!!!" , but why do think you deserve credit for that... others say "I was born into this family"... but what did you do to be proud of those achievements of your culture or ethnicity? The truth is you didnt have a choice over any of those things, it just happened. You did nothing to gain your race, your family, or the color of your skin. Isn't it very stupid to have so much pride in something you have no choice over. So why are people so much attached to those factors to the point where they put it before Islam?" Quran-49:13 "oh mandkind, we have created you from a male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another..." we have people that claim to be Muslims, but instead follow their cultures and claim they are following Islam, but are really just following their own culture. This is one of the reasons for the sad state of the Ummah today" This attachment to our cultur over Islam is what divides the world today. It has come to the point where we hate eachother. I mean, we always blame westerners for being racist, but we ignore the fact that we are the most racist people of all. I hate to point it out, but middle easterners, Pakistanis, and Persians are the worst offenders. They constantly talk about how they are superior. I mean, how often have you heard Persians calling themselves "pure Aryans" and claiming their ancestors were "blond haired, blue eyed nordic", saying how much they hate Afghans and Arabs. Or Arabs saying they are pure Semetic and talking about "impure African/Asiastic blood" and Pakistanis saying they are 100% non- Indian. Though your culture may have made great advancements and achievements in the past, what have you done to claim their achoievements as your own, other than being born into the same race? How much will your culture or how much you did to support it help you on the day of judgement?2 points

(bismillah) (salam) Guys dont waste tonight coming onto shiachat or going onto facebook or youtube or w/e and wasting time, if tonight does end up being laylatul qadr and youve spent half of it chatting to people about stuff which arent important then you are missing out on a lot of good deeds. http://www.duas.org/laylat_aamaal.htm Also remember The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Laylatu alqadri khayrun min alfi shahr Alot of people think that it is equal to 1000 months but no it says it is better than a thousand months, for all we know it could be equal to 5000 months. Maybe the more aamal we do on laylatul qadr the more time it is equal to. Also if I can avoid shiachat for a few hours im sure everyone else can. May Allah (swt) accept your fasts, prayers and duas tonight and every other night inshaAllah. (wasalam)2 points -
Ummul Momineen Hazrat Aisha
Al-Hadi gave a reaction for a topic
two passages from "Restatement of history of Islam" i found particularly interesting and wanted to share.. A certain woman, one Umm Aufa al-Abdiyya, once asked Ayesha: "O mother of believers, what is your opinion about a woman who kills her own child?" Ayesha said that such a woman would be thrown into hell. Umm Aufa further asked: "What will happen to a woman who killed more than 20,000 of her children at one time and one place?(referring to the battle of the camel)" Ayesha was incensed at the insinuation, and yelled scram at Umm Aufa. (Iqd-ul-Farid, vol. III, p. 108). On one occasion, she sent a messenger to her nephew, Ibn Abil-Ateeq, asking him to send his mule to her for riding. When her nephew received the message, he said to the messenger: "Tell the mother of believers that by God, we have not washed the stains of the blood shed in the battle of the camel yet. Does she now want to start a battle of the mule?" (Baladhuri in Ansab al-Ashraf, vol. I, page 431)1 point -

Imam Ridha A.s-regarding Prophets And Wassi's
Shia_Debater reacted to UIE for a topic
As far as the Hadith goes it could be a misintereptation aside from the level of the Prophets (as) and Imams (as) there is no problem with the hadith you might want to ask this question to an Alim for better understanding. And the Name of the city that Amirul Mumineen (as) was sent to was Mecca after the revelation of Surah Al Barah/Munafaqun to nullify the treaty of Hudabiya with the Quraish, by reciting the verses of the Surah mentioned above.1 point -

If You Are Human, Do Not Support The Syrian Regime
Abu Nur reacted to Ya Aba 3abdillah for a topic
The momentum has died. The 'Arab Spring' is virtually dead, there are no more 'uprisings' happening other than Bahrain and Yemen. In North-Africa it's over. Spring is now Autumn. The UN has sent a 'fact finding' mission to Syria, which means Assad has earned a lot more time. Many of the terrorists have either been killed, captured or have run-off with the money Saudi gave them. Add to that the fact that Syria's re-activated the PKK causing more troubles for Turkey, and with China & Russia promising to veto any resolutions which includes sanctions against Syria, it's actually looking good for Bashar, so not sure on what basis you formulate your conclusions on. Only option they have now is Assad's assassination, which many have been forecasting. They have no other choice if they want to try break Syria. But many are saying Maher Al-Assad could take Bashar's position, and he's even tougher to deal with. But Syria has for a while made backup plans in case Bashar is assassinated. So it doesn't look good for the US. They may have secured Libya's pure oil, clean water and Gold bullion, but it's not enough to get the US out of the woes its facing, China is still on the up&up and it won't let the US have a complete monopoly over the world's energy, which is what this whole Syria war is about.1 point -

For instance, it took forever for anyone to give me any sort of financial plan, and even then, it was faulty because it would involve women shouldering responsibilities that are not theirs. If It Is Haram To Be Jealous Of Another Wife?
BabyBeaverIsAKit reacted to OneNoteSong for a topic
What if a man who wants a second wife has a first wife who is not willing to work and contribute financially? Islamically, the MAN has to provide separate homes for each of his families. If a man wants to exercise his right to have >1 wife, then his wife can exercise her Islamic right to not contribute financially. Most wives already do way more than they are required to, i.e. raising kids. A lot even do housework for their husbands.1 point -

If It Is Haram To Be Jealous Of Another Wife?
BabyBeaverIsAKit reacted to ImAli for a topic
Great...he doesn't have to ask her permission nor does she have to agree to be in his collection of wives if it is too painful for her. Women are not empty sacks of flesh without feeling. You all seem to forget that......by the way no one ever answered if they will marry an older widow or disabled woman. By the way...the subject of this (I WILL REPEAT ONCE AGAIN) ....... IS "If it is haram to be jealous of another wife?" This means if it is haram to be jealous of another wife and you can't get past this and know you are not strong enough to deal with it....wouldn't it be better to divorce? The topic was not about if you need the permission of your wife to marry again. I just don't understand why so many men would want to give the first one a difficult time in a religious divorce if she can't deal with it emotionally.1 point -

(salam) RasoolAllah (pbuh) Is an imam and a prophet, however we refer to him as a prophet or messenger. Also in the Qur'an it says that the status of Prophet Ibrahim (as) was raised from a prophet to an imam (however the 12 imams (as) are higher than Prophet Ibrahim (as)) And remember that Abraham was tried by his Lord with certain commands, which he fulfilled: He said: "I will make thee an Imam to the Nations." He pleaded: "And also (Imams) from my offspring!" He answered: "But My Promise is not within the reach of evil-doers." Also Imam Ali (as) said that if the veils were removed from his eyes and he could see the unseen he would not be any more certain of Allah (swt) however prophet Ibrahim (as) asked Allah (swt) to show something being ressurrected so hes heart could become certain. Also The mother of Prophet Isa (as) Bibi Maryam (sa) was ordered to leave masjid al aqsa when giving birth because it was a place of worship and not childbirth however the doors of the Kaaba opened for the mother of Imam Ali (as). Also Prophet Musa (as) was scared to go back to egypt because he had killed 1 person in egypt and was scared of what would happen to him however Imam Ali (as) was not scared to go to some town (i cant remember which one) and in every single house there was at least 1 person who was killed by him (in war) (wasalam)1 point -

[MERGED] Taqleed To A Mujtahed?
Kismet110 reacted to InvisibleCompanionOfQaim for a topic
Brother Kismat, Imam Ali (as) has stated, "The man who lacks perception, even a thousand explanations won't be enough for him." These people (orion, baradar jackson, mujtaheds, wahabees, impostered leaders and comanders of the world etc...) will not and can not understand because they are lacking the Nur (LIGHT) AKA Iman in their hearts to ever be able to perceive. In a way, this is a blessing, because surely they are not worthy to understand just as they were not several thousand years before the creation of the world when the Lord asked, "Am I not your Lord?" These types of creatures must exist because the Truth (HAQQ) can be experienced best when put forth in front and against falsehood (batil). As long as the Governement of Iran feeds their stomachs, just as the Suadi Government feeds the stomachs of those they hope to convert , bayat will be given to them automatically and the ignorant people make them their Wali. Imam Ali also declared, "Our teaching is difficult, particularly arduous, exasperating, distressing. Offer it to people in small quantities (fa'nbadhu ila'l-nas nubdhan). To those who acknowledge it, tell more, but avoid telling more to him who denies it, because those who can bear this teaching are only an angel of proximity, a messenger prophet, or a faithful believer (momin) whose heart has been tested by Allah for the faith (Iman)." 14infallibles reacted to Orion for a topic
The interesting thing is that these people come here and talk about scholars like Ayatullah Sistani, Ayatullah Khoei or Ayatullah Montazari. When in fact they are actually against the concept of ijtehad and Taqlid. The very concept that these scholars believed in. Its like someone who has never offered daily prayers in his life nor has any intention of offering one in the future. But he still wants to replace on prayer leader with another. If lets say the Islamic republic was ruled by Ayatullah Sistani, Ayatullah Khoei or Ayatullah Montazari....would these people start believing in them? No, not at all. they would start talking about other scholars and claiming that others have a greater right to lead. So when they are against all Marjas why do they take their name and compare one with another? They only possible reason is that they just want to point fingers and criticize for the sake of criticizing.1 point -

Dome Of The Rock And The Shia
rotten_coconut reacted to Qa'im for a topic
Our position on the Dome of the Rock is a bit unclear. Our Imams (as) were asked about Bayt al-Maqdis in Jerusalem, which is not the same building as the Dome of the Rock. Bayt al-Maqdis ("the Holy House", Beit ha-Mikdash in Hebrew) is seen by the Sunnis and many lay Shi`as as "Masjid al-Aqsa" ("the Furthest Mosque") mentioned in the Qur'an. However, when asked about this, the Imams (as) said that al-Aqsa was actually a Masjid in the heavens (hence, the furthest), and that the Masjid of Kufa was superior to the Masjid in Jerusalem. With this new interpretation, is would mean that the verse in the Qur'an which says Muhammed (pbuh) was taken from the Ka`ba to al-Aqsa would mean he ascended to the heavens (mi`raj) from Mecca and not Jerusalem. If I recall correctly, some scholars did adopt the event of Isra from Sunni literature (the Prophet's trip to Jerusalem and other places), but I don't know if the story is reliably narrated in any of our own traditions. As for the status of Jerusalem, although it obviously had historical importance to previous prophets and served as Muhammad's (pbuh) first qibla, I think its significance ends there. I believe the Ummayyads had an interest in making Jerusalem more of a holy city and making its two mosques holy locations. Same with Damascus. The Umayyad's ruled from Shaam, which encompassed Jerusalem, and for a long time they did not control Mecca or Medina; and thus, I think they needed to hold onto a branch of spiritual legitimacy. Moreover, the story Isra provided legitimacy to Abu Bakr, as it is allegedly the event in which he gained his epithet "as-Siddiq" ("the believing friend"), which we deny and even al-Albani declared as weak. As for the Dome of the Rock historically, it is likely to be the ancient spot in which the Temple of Solomon lay. After it was destroyed in 70 CE, it was turned into a garbage dump by the Romans. After the Muslims conquered Jerusalem, Sunni tradition records `Umar ibn al-Khattab travelling to Jerusalem with Ka`b. Ka`b points to the spot that the Temple used to lay, and `Umar began clearing the dirt with his hands. The Umayyads later built Bayt al-Maqdis and the Dome of the Rock, saying that the Prophet (pbuh) prayed with all prophets at al-Maqdis and then ascended to heaven at the Dome of the Rock (the two are not far from each other). The existence of a dump however casts doubt on the story, because the Prophet would've prayed in a building that did not exist, and ascended to heaven from the dump. So I believe the story is revionary. And Allah knows best.1 point -

How Does One Explain Helplessness
DoubleAgent4 reacted to Blissful for a topic
Just like alcoholics can get their bottles poured down the drain, I think you need to get rid of those games in one go first and foremost. This is only distracting you further from where you need to go and what you need to do, and it's no wonder you resort to them. I could almost relate to this, minus the addiction. And I think this is something most, or all, feel at some point or at multiple points in their lives. You are just fed up. Fed up with the world, with everything in it - the injustice, the cruelty and the impatience it brings you. And that's all there is to your problem. As cliche as it sounds - your life is and always will be a roller coaster. Despite the fact you will reach heights never to be forgotten, lows will always follow. And what you must learn is the art of life I guess - to embrace the highs and be nostalgic every once in a while. Remember in the past what has made you happy, remember those moments you felt content with Allah (swt) and actually realised His (swt) blessings. That is what you cling to, and that is what should keep you going without fail. Alaa bithikrilaahi tatmainnul quloob. In terms of your parents - sometimes when you feel the way you do, it's not surprising you don't want to talk to anybody. But I really would savor the advice you've been given: "you will be a great man someday when you get a degree from college and earn so much that you will spend for Allah" ... Be the man you want to become in the eyes of Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì, your family and ultimately, for your own self. Talk to your parents about the way you feel and don't exclude them from your thoughts, for their advice is only taken when it's often too late. Turn to Allah (swt) like you always do, and keep Him (swt) in your Remembrance, always. Do what makes you happy and what will make Allah (swt) happy, and leave the rest up to Him.1 point -

Since when is being a 'aalim become a profession like being a lawyer, engineer or doctor? Are you saying that a doctor or engineer can't be a aalim? Or that becoming a 'aalim means that working to make a living is below you, or because the knowledge in your brain disables your physical/other abilities? "Hey I'm a Priest, I can't work!" Why? This is the problem, all this artificial, modern day understanding of "Islam". It's the cause of all our troubles today regardless of sects. Are you actually so unaware or are you just pretending? If Prince Karim Agha Khan, the 33rd(?) "Imam" of the Ismaili Shia can get his people a separate govt in Gilgit and hence more security, even a changed Islamiyat syllabus in the school that is clean of Sunnism propaganda and Sunni "heroes" like Umar and Bakr, even then someone can think there will be a problem in persuading douche bags that are our politicians to actually administrate and do a bit of their job by taking care of minorities? Oh, please. The mysterious and "deep" cause behind Shia killings is actually nothing but pure old negligence by the administration and degeneration of our haram eating deaf dumb and blind politicians and officials who are remarkably incompetent. Even during Zia's time things weren't AS bad as they are now, now that these clowns will 'alams outside their houses are reigning in Pakistan. Can´t you see how ridiculous it is to use the Israeli occupation of the tiny territory of Shaaba Farms as an excuse for murder and kidnaping? It is not even clear that the Shaba Farms are Lebanese territory. According to UN it belongs to Syria. Can't you see how ridiculous it is that you don't know anything about war or how it works? Say i want to bring a small force with me and occupy a little piece of land in America or UK the size of shaba farms. I bet you would call it murder and kidnapping if the military comes and tries to throw me and my buddies out right? And since when did UN actually become a voice of ALL nations? Here is a pop quiz for you. How many Lebanese soldiers are in Israeli dungeons? As for the Danish cartoons their purpose was not Muhammed bashing. Of course it wans't. And condemming Salman Rushdie to death wasn't a threat, it was just a matter of religious opinion, it's Democracy. Albeit most provocing, they were a challenge to Muslims about their attitudes about democracy or violence. They posed the question whether Islam is a peaceful or bellicose religion. So it was up to Muslims to answer that question. Sadly many Muslims gave the violent answer. Nasrallah obviously is one of them. I hope he is wrong.. Call it violence, murder, bloodthirsty or whatever you want. Muslims are not Christians to turn the other cheek. You slap a Muslim, you should expect to get punched in the face. Democracy has just become a silly word that you people keep throwing around at will and when it is at your benefit.1 point -

Would you marry someone who already has a wife
BabyBeaverIsAKit reacted to shiamuslima for a topic
This is from Ayatollah Sistani's site: Question: What is the meaning of “justice” required by religious law in dealing with one’s wives? Answer: The justice that is required [in dealing with polygamy] is related to the division [of time between them] in the sense that when he spends a night with one of them then, he must spend one night each with the rest of them in every four nights. The justice that is required as a recommendation is equality in spending money, giving attention, cheerfulness, and fulfillment of their sexual needs, etc. Brother, it saddens me that people can not see the beauty behind Allah (swt) laws and instead are influenced by the ideologies of the kaffir west, when obviuosly it has not been successful for them. They can not see where this kind of system will lead. They believe divorce is better than pollygamy even though it is the halal most hated by Allah (swt) and none of the Prophets or Imams (as) divorced their wives (instead they were patient with them no matter how bad they were). But imitating the kaffir and divorce has become a fashion, people have become western and want to boast their nafs (ego) by finding a perfect hollywood husband/soul mate, perfect love that does not exists. Their husband becomes an accessory that they can show their friends and recieve so much admiration and attention. By showing how great their husband is, how much he loves her, etc. Polygamy would be too much of a crush to the ego of these women. Divorce is so popular it is even written into marriage contracts, but such people are only concerned for themselves, they dont care about being patient, and trying to build a strong family, they dont care how much their divorce will ruin the lives of their innocent children. They just dont want to be embarassed in society by their collegues laughing at them because their husband has another wife. Islam has given us the perfect social system, Allah (swt) was so merciful to have given us Islam. Islam has ellevated the status of women, women are respected and loved and cared for. Allah (swt) has made men the 'maintainers and providers' of women. Polygamy is such a beautiful thing, Allah (swt) has commanded men to 'marry the spouseless among you" This is so merciful, that no women should be without a home, without children, without family, without security, without a husband, without love. But most people are too preoccupied with this life and creating an image of apparent sucess to present to their neighbours, to care about a poor widow, or divorcee, or lady who is unable to marry. Instead this lady has to suffer a life of loneliness, childlessness and social outcast. It makes me so sad, Allah (swt) has provided us with the best system, yet most prefer to follow themselves thinking that they know better. But we shouldnt despare these are just trials of this life. Rasullah (saw) predicted that there would be a time when the good would be looked upon as evil. All we can do is enjoin eachother to the path of Islam. I read a wonderful haddith that went something along the lines that whoever revives a sunnah of the prophet at a time when others are against that, then that person will have the reward of a hundred martyrs. (cant remember whether it was a hundred or thousand?) So dont be discouraged, your effort will be rewarded in the next life and remember that even the Imams and Prophets (as) with all their knowledge and Akhlaq were not able to change everyone, so if sometimes you fail or a person doesnt listen then dont give up on others. Allah (swt) has said clearly in the Quran that some people are blind and they will never see. Wassalam.1 point
