(bismillah) When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet. Cranky Old Man What do you see nurses? . . . . .What do you see? What are you thinking . . . . . when you're looking at me? A cranky old man, . . . .. .not very wise, Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . . with faraway eyes? Who dribbles his food ... . .. . . . . and makes no reply. When you say in a loud voice . . . . .. 'I do wish you'd try!' Who seems not to notice . . . . .the things that you do. And forever is losing . . . . . . . . . . A sock or shoe? Who, resisting or not .. . . . . . . . . . . lets you do as you will, With bathing and feeding . . . . . .The long day to fill? Is that what you're thinking? . . . . . . Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse . . . . . . you're not looking at me. I'll tell you who I am . . . . . . . As I sit here so still, As I do at your bidding, . . . . . . as I eat at your will. I'm a small child of Ten . . . . . . . with a father and mother, Brothers and sisters .. . . . . . . . who love one another A young boy of Sixteen . . . . . with wings on his feet Dreaming that soon now . . . . ... ... . a lover he'll meet A groom soon at Twenty . . . . ... . . my heart gives a leap. Remembering, the vows .. . . . . . that I promised to keep. At Twenty-Five, now . . . . . ... . I have young of my own. Who need me to guide . . . . And a secure happy home. A man of Thirty . . . . . . . . . My young now grown fast, Bound to each other . . . . . . . With ties that should last. At Forty, my young sons .. . . . . have grown and are gone, But my woman is beside me . . . . . . . to see I don't mourn. At Fifty, once more, . . ... . . . ..Babies play 'round my knee, Again, we know children . . . . . . . My loved one and me. Dark days are upon me . . . . . . ... . My wife is now dead. I look at the future ... .. . . . . . . . . . . . I shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing . . . . . . young of their own. And I think of the years . . .. .. . . . And the love that I've known. I'm now an old man . . . . .. . . . and nature is cruel. It's jest to make old age . . . . .. . . look like a fool. The body, it crumbles .. . . . ... . . . . .. grace and vigour, depart. There is now a stone .. . . . . .. . where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass . . . .. A young man still dwells, And now and again . . . .. . . . my battered heart swells I remember the joys . . . . . . . . . .. . I remember the pain. And I'm loving and living . . . . .. . . . .. . . . . life over again. I think of the years . all too few . . .. . . . gone too fast. And accept the stark fact . . . . . . . . that nothing can last. So open your eyes, people . . . . . . . . open and see. Not a cranky old man . Look closer . . . . see . .. . . .... . ME!! Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within ... . . . we will all, one day, be there, too! PLEASE SHARE THIS POEM, The best and most beautiful things of this world can't be seen or touched. They must be felt by the heart.2 points

I voted Lebanese. As bland as everyone may think our food is, nothing will ever beat mum's wara2 3enab .. ever  But all those foods are beautiful, each different in their own ways and I don't hate any of them (can't say I've had Jamaican, though :donno:). Exercises In "illuminati" Symbolism

salam, ya ali madad and lanat upon the enemies of the ahlebeyt (as) guys :) heres an exercise for you GCSE Paper in Sociology, unit 1: People and Society, 25th June 2010 http://www.wjec.co.uk/uploads/papers/s10-4511-01.pdf scroll down to page 10, and look at the picture. my personal understanding is: - the plane and the two towers of blocks remind me of 9/11 - the letters of the blocks spell ARMAGEDDON - the paper chain of people represent dead people (around 4000 people died, and there are 4 cut outs) - the pentagon shapes on the ball in the background represent the pentagon bit freaky, no? i doubt its coincidental, but then again i also doubt that there is some sinister new world order agenda being implemented through the image. its just a picture. it doesnt "mean" anything. another example: the "el diablo" (the devil) hand sign guys this is NONSENSE. the devil does NOT look like a goat. this isnt even a christian belief but a later innovation. the christian belief is that the devil is a fallen angel. doing this hand sign does NOT summon the devil doing this hand sign does NOT pledge your allegience to lucifer doing this hand sign does NOT send a message to other luciferians that you are one of them its just a hand sign. another symbol the "one eye and pyramid" symbol there is a really great book called solomons builders that i have at home (it is written by a grand master mason) ill scan some pages tonight insha'Allah basically, the freemasons arent that bad. they are drawing a lot of heat though because well meaning but ill informed people see all the symbolism that they left all over the place, and they use that as proof that the freemasons rule the world and worship the owl god memnoch. i know that this is going to be a controvertial statement, but i dont think that the freemasons are our enemies - they are the enemies of the roman catholic church. the founding fathers were deist, not christian, and they were more interested in escaping the european bankers and church. if i understand this correctly - the founding fathers who wrote the US constitution actually forbade taking over other lands. if you want to place blame on a "global elite" intent on taking over the world, then place it on the neocons, the zionists, the CEOs of the major multinational corporations. there is plenty of proof that they are up to no good. there is a grand total of no proof that the freemasons are behind anything.1 point -

The Official Ron Paul Thread
ImAli reacted to Ya Aba 3abdillah for a topic
His list of policies are outlined for the most part here -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_positions_of_Ron_Paul I've been trying to find dirt on the guy for a while now, haven't. Add to that, that the last election, he was leading a SMS poll on CNN, and then it was taken off air. The media politically assassinated him. He's actually the only one that constantly reminds the public about the bill of rights and the principles the founding fathers adhered to and the need to return to those principles. Let's put it this way, unless there are some drastic changed in the US soon, it's game over for the empire. The education system needs a major overhaul, the quality of education has spiraled out of control. Heck even Feynman picked up on it 50 years ago and dedicated a whole chapter on the issue in one of his books, and nothing's improved since. Without a solid education system, nothing follows but a generation of fools. China and Russia on the other hand take a totally different approach, they're training generations of doctors, physicists and engineers. The quality of research coming out of those countries is on par with the US, only China has a lot more people. Heck if US astronauts want to go to space, they have to use Russia ships now. NASA was once the jewel of US aviation and engineering excellence. What the hell happened? But that's what you get when glorify Bieber and dedicate many media hours to some guy that twittered crutch shots. Good luck in turning things around.1 point -

Was Imam Ali (ra) Forced To Give Bayah
Muntaqim Force reacted to Abbas. for a topic
You are quoting from a commentary of Nehjul balagha by ibn Abi al-Hadid al Mutazili. How is that a shia source? Why don't you quote the entire text? Here it goes: Chapter: Usama's Bayyat After the event of Saqeefa, Umar advised Abu Baqr to write a letter to Usama and tell him to come over to give allegiance as it will help get rid of criticism. Abu Baqr wrote letter as follows: From the caliph (successor) of the Prophet of Allah, Upon receiving my letter, come along with your companions/troops since all muslims are with me and have given allegiance . Don't you try to oppose as you may end up regretting it. In response, Usama wrote as follows: I received your letter but the letter was self contradictory. On one hand you say that you are the caliph of the Prophet of Allah and on the other hand you claim that the muslims have agreed to make you a caliph and are happy about it. Maybe you forgot that me and my companions/troops are also all muslims. By God, we are not happy with your caliphate. Give the right to its owner. Have you ignored and forgotten the will of RasulAllah and the oath taken on the day of Ghadeer? Didn't the Prophet make it incumbent on you and your companions to follow me ? Why did you disobey me and go to Madina without my permission? Don't you agree that the Prophet P.b.u.H did not terminate my authority till the end? Then why are you in Madina without my permission? Abu Baqr was shocked after receiving the letter but Umar encouraged him to remain steadfast and to continue to convince him directly and indirectly (through other muslims) for a greater cause and for the purpose of preventing division amongst muslims. Thus Abu Baqr wrote again and 'reminded' Usama to avoid creating fitna amongst muslims and not to oppose the leaders of the Muslims. After receiving those letters, Usama returned to Madina with his companions and went to Imam Ali's house and asked, "What is this all about?". Imam replied, "It is exactly as you see.". Usama asked, "Have you given given bayyat. Imam replied, "yes". Usama asked, "Did you do it with free will or were you forced?". Imam replied, "I was forced". Then Usama went to Abu Baqr's house and said salams. So did Abu Baqr. Please provide references to show that muslims used to renew allegiances to caliphs (atleast first 4) after every six months. On the day Abu Baqr forcefully took office, Imam Ali was busy arranging the funeral of the Prophet P.b.u.H (His ghusl and burial). Please be mindful of your tone. Reread what I wrote and try to comprehend how frustrating it is for us to tolerate you when you bring similar arguments against us.1 point -

Happy (in)dependence Day
Ibn al-Hussain reacted to Nocturne for a topic
14th August...The day when I was asking someone about bribing WAPDA's meter reader so he won't do OVER BILLING but write the correct units in bill (something all Pakistanis are well aware of), have never bribed anyone before, paid the bill or had it adjusted by using (or rather begging) one contact or another in WAPDA office. Had enough of that - since if you were over billed a year ago, the bill would be 8000 Rupees, now it will be 16000-20000+... Sure, it's better to be living in an independent country but what independence & where when there is ZERO peace of mind, you don't know if you will be alive at end of the day when you go out and those who have sworn to protect you will not mind beating the [Edited Out] out of you or leave you to do die (be it Police or any Armed Forces). Pakistanis living abroad will be out of their minds if they get into "let's move to Pakistan and do something for this mess" trance other than some investments here and there. I remember reading how someone abroad decided to shift one of his factory to Karachi...all the material was shifted to Karachi and till the date of the article, it was all destroyed by rust near Karachi port because of "Government servants". IF I am ever able to get over some things like moving away from my family or the wish to get buried with my ancestors, I will move from this country without ever looking back at it.1 point -

^^ MDM, so here's a proposition for you. UK needs some Shia vigilantes. You know, like on Batman Begins, the League of Shadows, destroy corrupt cities like Gotham. So anyways, your mission is to bust up Anjem Choudary. He's an MI5 agent, part of the illusion to destroy Islam. So you have to counter it. You'll need a few things as part of the project. 1. A few guys. Find guys you can trust and share the same vision. Get them to curse as their initiation into the society. 2. You'll need a secret name. Something like, The Innits. 3. Symbols. I'm thinking )o(. Engrave it on your rings. It is 110 (bismillah). But can also be read in arabic. 'ain meem ra. But it also looks like 'something else' which you can look at when ever you feel down and laugh. 4. Grow beards, put hennah. Go tell Choudary you want in, for the sake of Sayyidna Mu'awiya (ra). If anyone sees the ring, be like, oh it means two things, 110 and sayyidna farouq (ra) and they be like, masha'Allah. And you can have a giggle. 5. Figure out some espionage techniques so that he can never be used to dog Muslims and Islam ever again. What say you?!?!?!?!?!1 point -
(salam) People are very different. There are some men who are very quiet. They don’t talk much. This doesn’t mean that something is wrong with them. Also, sometimes when the husband comes back from work, they just don’t want to talk much. They just need to be let in peace for a while. Plan a time where both of you can sit down and have a discussion. This doesn’t need to be after work. Maybe on weekend. Is it possible for both of you to plan something together? For e.g like walking in the park? Going somewhere out? Also, you don’t need to have the same conversation every single day. If he is not interested to talk about his day at work, then talk about his favorite topics (i.e., his favorite football team or something). You can also talk to him about the lack of communication in this relationship. But based on what you told us, he may think you are nagging him.1 point

Now, you got it! :yaali: You see, this is what we call innocent mistake. A robot does not make innocent mistakes, don't you think? They did not have enough knowledge of the matter, and therefore made a mistake as a result. It was not deliberate. As for the verse you quoted, it only shows that whenever Allah ORDERS them to do something, they have no free will with regards to His orders, and they always obeys His orders. This is not saying anything about situations where Allah is not ordering them, but discussing with them! Let me ask: would you ever "discuss" with a mindless robot?1 point -
Khomeini Guiding Shia Believers?
Muntaqim Force reacted to guest 34193 for a topic
Just a quick note, but the above is not from Khomeini unlike what the above copy/paster is claiming. Rather it's from book called al-Fawa'id ar-Radawiyya by Qadi Sa`id al-Qummi (a Safawid era scholar/philosopher) which is itself a commentary on a narration. Khomeini wrote some footnotes on the book (hence why the title says at-Ta`liqa `ala). If he'd even bothered to look at the editor's footnotes in the scan above, he'd also see that it even gives a reference for the quote, which is al-Anwar an-Nu`maniyya (I think by Sayyid Ni`matullah al-Jaza'iri). So really, none of this has anything to do with Khomeini other than being in a book he wrote some footnotes on.1 point -
Munazara [debate]: Farid Versus Walid (wasil)
Aabiss_Shakari reacted to Saved for a topic
Saima, you are a Sunnee. So, what mind are you making up again? In any case, have you ever asked yourself if this rijaal thing can be applied to the Qur'aan too? Izan, could you please provide a SINGLE Saheeh or Hasan chain for the Qur'aan as per Sunnee rijaal? Actually, the Qur'aan has only one extremely weak chain as per Sunnee rijaal! Sunnee scholars instead claim tawaatur for it, without really bringing the rijaal-tested chains that form together to make it mutawaatir. If rijaal is so unimportant when it comes to the Qur'aan, why do we make so much noise? Secondly, Sunnees grade all the Sahaabah as "trustworthy" when there are in reality terrible liars among them! I exposed two of them in this article http://www.wilayat.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1097:Moin-al-Nasibi-Fails-Again-Concerning-the-Sahabah-%28Part-2%29&catid=71:05-Sahabiat-%28Companionship%29. They are Waleed ibn 'Uqbah and Aboo Hurayrah. I have provided undeniable instances of them both LYING! And I wrote this one too to expose another LIAR among the senior Sahaabah http://www.wilayat.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1504:Mu-tab-ibn-Qushayr-The-Tragedy-of-a-Badr-Warrior-Who-Turned-And-Died-A-Hypocrite&catid=70:05-Biographies-of-Sahaba-General. It is Allaah Himself who has called him a LIAR. So, as you can see, the ROOT of the Sunnee rijaal system is very faulty. How can anything be sensible about it? Finally, who gave people like Yahya ibn Mo'een, Ahmad ibn Hanbal, al-Bukhaaree, and others the authority to judge the reliability of others? NONE! Rijaal as a whole revolves around the contradictory "opinions" of some self-imposed "judges"! May Allaah save us from its evil.1 point -
Missing verses does not equal tahreef. Tahreef would be changing the verse, changing it in a way that changes the meaning. What are the ahadith about changing or fabricating verses? The different qira'aat I don't see how is that Tahreef as even with different qira'aat the meaning seem to be the same or similar-such as maliki yawm aldeen as opposed to maaliki yawm aldeen. The order of nuzul also does not equal Tahreef, the verses are still preserved regardless of the order of verses. If there was actual Tahreef, meaning of verses changed to different meaning words, fabricated verses etc then on what can we base our faith, religious laws? How do we know which verses were changed and which were not? It would shake the entire religion -and if so then we should not be held accountable for our actions since we can never tell if what was said to be halal isn't and what was said to be haram isn't.1 point

Crazysb187654321 lol, even though i may not agree with alot of your posts, esp about imminent war in lebanon and so forth, i do agree with you on this, but its kinda old news bro Forget about the grand conspiracy of secret societies being run by cults that are deceived by the dajjal for a second and realize that zukerberg got most of his funding for facebook from the CIA lol... Norton Anti Virus has a loophole in it that lets the FBI access any computer they want. If you REALLLY want to go off radar, just get rid of your internet !!! lol its too easy for them do you think its a coincidence that most laptops come with a fixed webcam on it ? its like placing a camera and bugging device in EVERY house, and tapping into wireless modems is even ten times easier, i can do that myself... Point is, Fink can be a little harsh, even though you seem like your on the verge of having a heart attack in every post, your right with this post, its just old news and common sense Salams1 point -

fink, the government want access, to peoples convos on bbm? how strange... in my school, my little sister had her finger print scanned, along with the year 7-11s, they can purchase food through this new system, no cash involved, a series of 2 pages long questionaire was asked to be filled out with the finger print, the government want to know what your doing, at any moment in time, and they want evry single piece of info about you. I wonder if you yourself really care about 'your sunni syrian community' and are concerned for them or is it that its just a front to veil your racism towards Shias. If its the earlier then I have to be the bearer of the good news that whatever is happening in Syria is happening at a higher level of intellect by the security forces. If going by massmedia's account then in 5 months of challenging the authority of state in a big social unrest only around 2000 people have lost their lives. I would instead shift your humane concerns towards another community thats on the abyss. Taliban and their actions is putting 20 000 000 Afghans on the edge of survival. Whats happening in Afghanistan is happening from a lower level of intellect- its more savage. 20 000 000 > 2000. Either way, you cant logically be genuinely concerned about Syria and mathematically be right at the same time.Hence chop chop towards making Taliban threads..... and if its latter then God help you.1 point

Fantastic. Why not create a sequel or a prequel of Holocaust cartoons as means of finding out whether Jews could live peacefully in your retarded society and lets see of they fail like moslems. What a twisted logic. Hey I will slap someone close and older to you in the face as means of finding your peaceful nature.... this puts that dude with funny mustache- Hitler, to shame. You could be alot of things along with being a retarded Salafi and at the end that really matters.1 point

Happy (in)dependence Day
AkbarHassan reacted to The Green Knight for a topic
Look at your first post, Ya Aba. You waltz into this thread (even though you're not a Pakistani) and then you post a link here about "someone" who mentions "6 reasons" not to celebrate Pakistan's independence day. How insolent of you, brother. Do you know how many people suffered and died to create this country? Do you know what it is like to be a slave? Did your ancestors get their fingers cut off because they could weave the best cloth in the world? Did your just rulers die to traitors who sold themselves for money? Did they enforce a cruel feudal system over you? Did you live atop mountains for years feeding on dried pieces of animal skin in defiance and snipe British dogs? No. You have no idea.1 point -
Happy (in)dependence Day
AkbarHassan reacted to The Green Knight for a topic
This is the problem with people today. We criticize everyone and every thing that we can criticize. But we never even look at leave alone criticize our own selves. Irrational waste of time. And we are unable to provide or even suggest a solution to anything we criticize. I have a solution. Celebrate this day if you want to, and don't if you don't want to. Simple. So happy independence day to those who did celebrate and prayed for Pakistan. Azazeel (Shaitan) was given the title Iblees when he became hopeless of God's mercy.1 point -

Salaam Aleikum, Much better than the previous one (There is only one problem, it has more white elements than before and sometimes it hurts my eyes.) Hope you guys will fix the bugs soon.1 point

A Question For Brother Nader Zaveri
Muntaqim Force reacted to 14infallibles for a topic
(salam) in the bible there are many things that may agree with islam. For example there is a verse in bible saying that god is one, and that we should not steal, lie, etc now can i say, this means that atleast a portion of the bible is authentic, and that it would add credibility to the authenticity of other parts of the bible which don't deal with things islam has dealt with. i have quoted exactly what you said and just modified it to say the bible i think that there is no point in what you are trying to establish brother wassalam1 point -

A Message To All Mu'mineen
Modest Muslim reacted to Abu Tufayl for a topic
(bismillah) اللهم صل على محمد وآله الطاهرين (salam) This is simply a message to all Mu’mineen and Mu’minaat who participate in the Sunni-Shi`ah Dialogue of the forum. This specific forum used to be filled with good, intellectual conversations that would actually lead somewhere. Unfortunately many of those members have moved on (you know…to real life…). Recently, and by that I mean for several months, I’m all I’m seeing from my Shi’i Brothers and Sisters is “attacking” Sunnism and always trying to go prove something to Sunnis through use of their literature. Forgive me, but this is futile. These topics and posts don’t go anywhere. It is not our job to try to go and try to convert everyone who’s Sunni and happens to join the forum. Honestly, I believe it is more of a deterrent. Please, no more topics where are trying to prove something to someone. We honestly shouldn’t be the ones starting topics in this section. If a Sunni brother or sister happens to have a question, then we will answer it – correctly – Insha’Allah. If they try to disprove us using our literature, we will respond to them, insha’Allah. Our faith and belief in Wilayah, Imamah, that set apart from others is not based in Sunnism being wrong. This faith stands on its own from its pillars – the Ahlulbayt (as). I think it is unfortunate that many Mu’mineen’s imaan is based in Sunnism being wrong (honestly no offense intended to Sunnis) than just Shi’ah Islam being correct. We need to move on from this and know our own books, beliefs, history, fiqh. The liveliest and most active part of the forums should be the Shi’ah specific ones…not this one. If a curious non-Shi`ah comes in wanting to learn, insha’Allah we will help guide him to truth. If ignorant ones wander in here exposing their manifest traits, we will kindly direct him towards the door while answering his questions from the correct source (i.e. our books) because those are the books that really matter. If a Sunni, or perhaps those in between seeking haqq, want to know if we can show them things from Sunni books that push in the direction of the Imami creed, we will show them. However, they are not the basis of our creed or our imaan or why we are Shi’ah. So please, Ya Ayyuha al-Adheena Aamanoo, let this be a place to respond to questions and inquiries from others and to explain our creed to them. الحمد لله رب العالمين وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى اهل بيته المعصومين والمهديين1 point -
What If Imam's (af) Zuhoor Is A 1,000 Years Later?
ShiaSoldier@2007 reacted to -Enlightened for a topic
(salam) well , it can be tomorrow or in 10000 years ,it doesn't matter , our duty is to be good muslims every day . We don't have to start being religious , only because we see signs of the Duhoor of the Imam , it would make us hypocrites . And if we wish to be from his companions ,we can always work on it and we will be raised from our graves when he reappears inshAllah.1 point -
