None of these riots are down to anger at the government or any form of protest. It started in one place, people saw it on TV and said: "Hey, I also want some free clothes." This caused them to start their own in their respected areas. I bet if you ask any rioter why they are doing what they are, they wouldn't know. All they want is free clothes, trainers, electronics etc (and basmati rice in some cases). Pathetic.3 points

A cold shiver suspends my back and numbs my body into a state One that I have savored before; it's back to haunt and expose me. It makes its way up and around reminding every part of my being; what I have done and what I have not and wraps me around its fingers. A loving enmity grows on exponential filling my veins with guilt and pride The sudden, perverse heart beat thumps in rhythm with my nostalgic thoughts. Should a tear fall down my cheek - What then will that make of me? This blissful pain, well deserved is mine, no one elses. I cherish and harbor the pain revealing itself on pursed lips Ignorant and aware, living in vain is my state after every immoral sin.3 points -

Remembering Imam Ali (as)
DoubleAgent4 and one other reacted to sister in islam for a topic
In history, in history there is only one man that gave Zakat in the state of rukooh, and that is Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib. His status is so elevated that he has enraged the enemies, his wisdom was beyond comprehension. When you ask a question he says, "Salooni, salooni, kabla ant'afkadoonee!", "Ask me, ask me, before you miss me!". Why did he say this? because he has already been endowed with this wisdom. He has been endowed with this knowledge, for you and I to follow. BUT he is not just a man of wisdom, he is a man of ACTION. You and I, Brothers and Sisters, should be muslims of action. The name of Imam Ali is 'Sha'er Allah' (a symbol of God). It is Dhikr! Dhikr of Allah! (remembrance of Allah) to mention the name of Imam Ali, Because when you look at him, he does nothing but take you to Allah. He never take you to himself, he never says worship me, he never says how great I am, he never does any of that, he keep taking us to the Prophet (pbuh) and Allah (swt) So why shoudl we not mention him? Why should we not remember him? and why should we not live like him?2 points -

Heaven
BabyBeaverIsAKit reacted to La fata illa Ali for a topic
I would run around Heaven for the first hundered years screaming my head off with my hands waving in the air saying: " OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!! I ACTUALLY GOT IN!!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" And then after, lets face it, I would intimately acqauint myself with the Hour al Ain... And then I would sit down at the grandest dining table ever seen and eat those promised fruits and some bird meat and drink the purified drink. and then I would have a huge screen that showed me a a live feed of hell and Imam Hussain (as) killers and their torture, for their sever punishment would be very pleasing for me. And lastly, I would get the Camp Nou recreated and invite all of Jannah to watch the most intense soccer game of all time. the Prophet (pbuh), the imam's (as) and myself would be one team and we would play an opposition filled with all the worlds great soccer players like: Pele, Maradona, Zidane, Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff, Cafu, Maldini, Tafarelle, Cantona, Ronaldo (portugese and Brazilian), Messi, Shevchenko, Jarzinho, etc and if some or most of these soccer players were in hell, then I would get Allah (aj) to make replica's of them. Exact Replica's, OR, if he allows, give them respite from Hell for a little while so they can play in the match!!! And thats just the beginning... EDIT: Just read an awsome verse, inshallah if we get in, we should all first say: sura a'raaf: ayat 43 (bismillah) SHAKIR: And We will remove whatever of ill-feeling is in their breasts; the rivers shall flow beneath them and they shall say: All praise is due to Allah Who guided us to this, and we would not have found the way had it not been that Allah had guided us; certainly the messengers of our Lord brought the truth; and it shall be cried out to them that this is the garden of which you are made heirs for what you did. ...Alhamdulilahilladhi hadana lihadha wa ma kuna linahtadia lawla anhadanallah...1 point -
I know exactly what you mean, you should read some of my posts here, youre basically repeating me. Trust me, ive been there. Now, im not a muslim, and for the sake of respecting people in this forum, i will not tell anyone what they should or should not do, but from my own experience, sometimes i get my feelings hurt when i find something that im uncomfortable with, but thats part of life, this is how you become stronger in life. What is pain? Pain is something weve developed to help us recognize when something is wrong. The greater the pain, the greater the fault were recognizing. You should not ignore it, you should confront it. One major thing that i would recommend though, dont leave your original belief if you dont have a better objective option, otherwise you'll just get picked up by some other group in the same subjective box. Use the scientific method to harness your knowledge, separate it from opinion. If you find an option that suits your direct line of knowledge, and you look into it, then you will be good to go. And in the end, God isnt going to punish anyone for seeking answers to honest questions, no matter where those answers may reside. Be honest, be truthful, but above all...again, separate "what you know", from "what you think you know". Im not saying Islam may not be truth, im just saying, there are many options, and each option contains its own set of answers. http://www.shiachat....roven-directly/ Post # 12 02 August 2011 - 04:24 AM. "oh and 1 more thing. people who dedicate their lives building at the top of the pyramid, are too busy looking up building up, and sometimes they fail to recognize the basis for which theyre standing on. And no person, no matter what religion, after building the top of the pyramid relentlessly their whole life, will ever consider the idea that their work is for naught. Which is why some people have a problem with child indoctrination, because the children start building that pyramid, without being able to intellectually analyze the basis that they build on. And once theyre at the top, theres no looking back. " Perhaps i am wrong, maybe some people do consider it atleast.1 point

Salams Before we discuss this persons options of marriage, I think we need to clarify this persons status in the eyes of Islam and as per the teachings of Divine Authorities of Islam. A person who "submits" to Islam has only declared submission to Allah, thus is called a Muslim. You can call it a formality or an official declaration. We used to have people, in the times of the Prophet, who submitted to Islam but never really accepted it from heart either for ill-reasons or due to lack of knowledge. We also had people who formally accepted Islam (with sincerity) but did not have firm faith in Allah straightaway because they sought many answers or needed more time to digest knowledge. Nowadays we have a lot of muslims who are incidental muslims since they are born in muslim families but never trully have faith in Allah, since neither do their parents, and unlike mama & papa these children do not wish to offer lip service to a religion. Anyhow, in the times of the Prophet and Imams (both being Infallibles) we at least had divine Authorities of Allah to answer and satisfy everyones curiosity as per their level of intelligence. What do we have nowadays? Fallible Muslims (scholars), the sincere amongst them doing their best to answer queries to difficult questions. While we owe them our lifes for their sincere efforts, can we claim that their teachings can compare anywhere near to that of the Divine Authorities of Allah? And isn't it true that a lot of folks fall into the hands of the wrong kinds of scholars? What if a person is initially inspired/impressed by the ethics/principles of our religion, formally declares submission but later realises that rest of his or her questions are not answered to the best of their satisfaction? Is Islam, the envoy of justice, going to punish them for that? Have we established without a reasonable doubt that they had ill-motives (to harm the interest of the Islamic state, for example) from the very beginning? Have we established that the apostate is creating a havoc in the Islamic state by intentionally spreading lies, intentionally using the sensitivities of the muslims to his/her advantage, intentionally/directly assisting enemies of the state? e.t.c e.t.c There are so many variables to consider imho. One can't just declare someone to be an apostate thus deserving of death penalty just cz the poor person has failed to fully accept Islam's ideology, especially when we don't have direct guidance of our Divine Authorities. Thats just wrong and against the fundamental teachings of Islam - that is, there is no compulsion in religion. Firstly, if she lives in a society where people are vehemently hostile towards those who leave the folds of Islam, she should be cautious and avoid informing everyone that she was previously a muslim and is not anymore. And if she lives in a muslim dominant society and people already know that she was born in a muslim family, her best option is to leave it to Allah (if He does exist) to judge her and avoid any confrontation with people; that is, if the only option left for her is to marry a muslim (but keeping her true beliefs hidden), it is best that she does so and protect her dignity and life. I am pretty sure that if Allah really exists and if His Justice is as per the teachings of shia Islam, He will forgive her for concealing her true identity. But if she finds a person/society (muslims or non-muslims) who is understanding, helpful and trustworthy, she should inform him of her true beliefs regarding religion so that the other person is given an opportunity to make an informed decision. And if she marries someone as a muslim but later struggles in accepting Islamic ideologies, I'd personally suggest her to make a sincere effort before giving up and would advise the husband to help her find the right answers. And If he still fails, I'd suggest him to be blunt and explain her why he cannot continue with the relationship, even though he respect her beliefs. There are many more criterias, i've shared personal opinion on some..... and Allah knows best.1 point

Masturbation In Islam
Yasoob Al Deen reacted to Abu Hadi for a topic
The purpose of a thread on a discussion forum is to respond to the original poster or 'OP's question. The question was 'Is masturbation forbidden in Islam'. Your answer is irrelevant. Also, you stated on your profile that you are an atheist, so your answers to questions of Islamic jurisprudence are especially irrelevant. Your idle speculations pieced together from a very selective reading of scientific evidence is not welcome here, just so you know. To answer the OP's question, yes it is forbidden , 'haram'. You can see the pinned topic on this forum with fatawa of most of our prominent scholars. As to how you can avoid it, especially in the environment of Western society, first ignore idle speculation of those who say it is 'normal' There is modern research in the field of neurobiology that show that frequent masturbation actually changes the functioning and chemical composition of your brain to make you less able to 'function' with a women in a sexual relationship. If anyone requests, I can post. Also, Islam has a two fold solution for this issue. First, 'cast down your glance' as the Holy Quran states. Avoid any situation where there may be women dressed provocatively and don't look at porn, 'R' rated stuff on movies, etc. For men, the eyes are the gateway to lust. If you control your eyes, you can control your lust and thus habits related to lust. In situations where you can't avoid looking at women who are dressed improperly, like college campus for example, you should try your best to avert your eyes when you see something and also repeat 'Auzu bilahi min as Shaitan Ar Rajim' ( I seek refuge with Allah from the acursed Satan). This will help you and also doing thikr (repeating the names of Allah(s.w.a)). This will keep your mind and concious elevated and will steer your thoughts away from indecent things. Second, you should try your best to get married. If you have a good intention (niyyat) and put forward effort, Allah(s.w.a) will definitely help you to overcome some of the obstacles that are placed in the way of (especially young men) marriage by our community these days, unfortunately. You have to realize that Allah(s.w.a) is more powerful than the community or the obstacles so do tawwakul (rely on Allah for help) and you will be sucessful.1 point -

Abu Dujana, is your post a joke? Because it is either so funny because it is so hilariously ridiculous, or it's just a horribly male-centric post. If it's a male-centric post, well my responses are below. If you meant for this to be a sarcastic/humorous post, then forget about my responses below. The problem is that you treated her like a child, a lesser person. She isn't a lesser person in the marriage, she is an equal. OMG you deserve a gold medal for helping with the children! Are they not your kids too? If so, you didn't "help with the kids", you did YOUR SHARE, your duty as a father. The issue is that you feel like you did wonderfully by not doing things that "a conventional husband would do". Your idea of "a conventional husband" is definitely not that of a good or ideal husband.1 point -

I Found Something Odd In A Verse Of The Holy Quran
Hameedeh reacted to Muhammed Ali for a topic
If that is the case then, why is the verse speaking to the believers in the second person and then addressing them in the third person? "yet there hath not come unto you the like of (that which came to) those who passed away before you? Affliction and adversity befell them," Maybe the 'them' refers to the past nations because the verse before it says: 'those who passed away before you'. Anyhow there is nothing wrong with asking "When will the help of Allah come?", it doesn't necessitate despair. I don't know which past prophet/s it's referring to.1 point -

Explanation Of These Hadiths
Yasoob Al Deen reacted to guest 34193 for a topic
Much of the hadiths we have were issued under taqiyya. The first hadith is demonstrating the wisdom of that. If the Shi`a all agreed on everything, they would have been easy to spot by the oppressive governments and been even more persecuted (as well as it being possibly led back to the Imam (as) eventually). If you read the hadith literature you will find much that is like this, X amount of hadiths that say one thing while you have these others that say something seemingly different, with the explanation being those other ones were issued under taqiyya. This is possibly one reason for using the criteria of opposing the `Aamma in determining which of two different hadiths to go with (after all, the taqiyya position would most likely be in agreement with what the `Aamma said, with the one that is different possibly reflecting the real answer). That said, some scholars have been of the view that determining which is which is not something we can know with certainty, thus as a grace we the Shi`a have been permitted to act on any of them and our responsibility (to obey the Imam) would still be taken care of.1 point -

Salaam 'Alaikum, I truthfully mean no intended harm to Farid (who is very akhlaqi and usually very polite and civil in his dealings with Shias) but Bro, it seems like your hiding with the post I have just quoted, you have insinuated that you are driven by your desire to defend Abu Hurairah al-Dowsi al-Yamani, because you feel Shias have made him the butt of every joke etc. Yet, it seems to me that this is just all secondary to you debating someone on the status on Ibrahim b. Hashim, why hide behind the pretense of your love for Abu Hurairah. Just to give an example, if I would claim that the view of Imam 'Ali (as) amongst Sunnis sickens me, and so as a result I want to debate them on the Historical personality of Umar b. al-Khattab and Imam 'Ali (as), sure that wouldnt be problematic. If I would then say ok, no biggie. I dont have to defend Imam 'Ali but lets debate 'Umar, you wouldnt believe me in my original claim that my motivations were caused by my desire to defend the honour of Amir al-Mo'mineen (as). I request seeing as this is the holy month of Ramadhan, that we are honest and transparent with each other. I believe this post of yours on HCY, summarises that your intentions behind this debate are not particularly the original ones you stipulated: ([url Edited]/index.php?showtopic=14685)1 point

This is of the communications of Allah that they may be mindful. (Surah A'raaf: 26) ”And say unto the believing women that they cast down their gaze and guard their private parts, and they display not their “Zinat” (adornment) except what becomes apparent of it; and they draw their “Khumur” (head covers) over their “Juyub” (neck-slits); and they display not their “Zinat” except to their husbands, or their fathers, or the father of their husbands, or their brothers, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their women or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants void of sexual desires, or the children who have not yet attained the knowledge of women's secrets (or nakedness), and they should not strike their feet so that what they hide of their “Zinat” becomes known; and turn you all unto Allah, O you believers, so that you may be successful.” [Holy Quran, 24: 30-31] ”O Women of the Prophet! Masturbation In Islam
Yasoob Al Deen reacted to Basim Ali for a topic
Okay first - false comparison. When I say people decide to abort their babies, I obviously mean 'babies' who they don't want at that particular time, for whatever reason. The same person(s) may want to have a baby later on, which won't end the human race. Likewise, for animals. Second - how is determining what is 'natural', relevant to looking into animal behavior? That should make going around naked, having intercourse in public and fighting for territorial and sexual rights, also 'natural' since that's what is very common behavior among animals too. According to a hadith, animals have been given desires and humans have been given desires and intellect (and hence they have to work with both). That is the fundamental difference. Animals will fulfill their urges in whatever means possible. Looking at them, and following in their footsteps in hope of 'doing exactly what nature demands of you' - why have intellect at all? Still, for the heck of it: Animals do kill their babies. You missed the part where I said, I'm not asking you to ignore the fact that you have desires. You claiming so though, is like saying masturbation is the only way of fulfilling them (when it's clearly not). Your desires are gifts, as you rightly mentioned - bounties, in fact. They certainly are good for us, but when not used for the purpose they have been given, then they do nothing but harm. They need to be 'taken care of' in the best manner possible, as prescribed by Allah and His Prophet (pbuh). That's my point.1 point
