    Riot In London

None of these riots are down to anger at the government or any form of protest. It started in one place, people saw it on TV and said: "Hey, I also want some free clothes." This caused them to start their own in their respected areas. I bet if you ask any rioter why they are doing what they are, they wouldn't know. All they want is free clothes, trainers, electronics etc (and basmati rice in some cases). Pathetic.

    Remorse

A cold shiver suspends my back and numbs my body into a state One that I have savored before; it's back to haunt and expose me. It makes its way up and around reminding every part of my being; what I have done and what I have not and wraps me around its fingers. A loving enmity grows on exponential filling my veins with guilt and pride The sudden, perverse heart beat thumps in rhythm with my nostalgic thoughts. Should a tear fall down my cheek - What then will that make of me? This blissful pain, well deserved is mine, no one elses. I cherish and harbor the pain revealing itself on pursed lips Ignorant and aware, living in vain is my state after every immoral sin.

  10. In history, in history there is only one man that gave Zakat in the state of rukooh, and that is Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib. His status is so elevated that he has enraged the enemies, his wisdom was beyond comprehension. When you ask a question he says, "Salooni, salooni, kabla ant'afkadoonee!", "Ask me, ask me, before you miss me!". Why did he say this? because he has already been endowed with this wisdom. He has been endowed with this knowledge, for you and I to follow. BUT he is not just a man of wisdom, he is a man of ACTION. You and I, Brothers and Sisters, should be muslims of action. The name of Imam Ali is 'Sha'er Allah' (a symbol of God). It is Dhikr! Dhikr of Allah! (remembrance of Allah) to mention the name of Imam Ali, Because when you look at him, he does nothing but take you to Allah. He never take you to himself, he never says worship me, he never says how great I am, he never does any of that, he keep taking us to the Prophet (pbuh) and Allah (swt) So why shoudl we not mention him? Why should we not remember him? and why should we not live like him?

Remember, the contest is open to all students, which includes middle school, high school, college, university, graduate school, business school, medical school, law school, etc. Best wishes, and insha'Allah I'll be reading your essays in the next few months.

don't get too excited, chances are they didn't know what direction the qibla was, so they will pray four times. Hope the wahabi sites don't show videos of people who claim to be followers of the ahlul bayt doing sajdah to horses, and claim we all worship horses

Nostalgia, thoughts, cherishing pain. This is fiction - or we have more in common than being on the same island. Or I am misreading it incorrectly in the context of my personal experience. It is awkward though - I cannot tell what the remorse is for, you deliberately do not state it. And it makes a better poem - it does. Depriving the reader of closure is a good way to compel them to keep reading and continue considering after at the end; arguably the only thing better is unexpected and utter finality - and best when it is very deliberately, very carefully not what the reader wants. But then - perhaps you do state some of it; guilt and pride. Mine and no one else's - so it is not between two. But it is serious. Returns apart from your own intention - although you clearly do not repel it or insufficiently. It is an interesting diversion poetry; reading it I mean. Poets rarely esteem it to be merely a diversion. I think I have speculated enough though. I am tired - but no metre? I can only write free verse. Prefer to read metre if I am reading it though. The only criticism I am willing to give is that it lacks, I think, rhythm. Only at the end - the pain, pursed lips, living in vain, every immoral sin. You do not have to just rhyme words - see that when you read aloud the second last line and the last, the last still follows well from the second last? It is not always a bad thing - but I do not think the lines have sufficient force to have dispensed with it. If you are not following a rhythm every line - or paragraph - has to be thunder over-head. Or utter desolation. Or immense imagery. They can be many things but must be forceful and forceful of themselves, contained - make sense and stand meaningful outside of the context of the rest of the poem. The best free verse is, in my opinion, collections of pregnant turns of phrase one has come to over a distance of time in several situations or circumstances that produce these kinds of thoughts. But there are exceptions. The ancient poets found at times that they wrote so well so consistently in a sitting that they spoke of "muses". All only my opinion. I used to like poetry very much.

  29. Abu Dujana, is your post a joke? Because it is either so funny because it is so hilariously ridiculous, or it's just a horribly male-centric post. If it's a male-centric post, well my responses are below. If you meant for this to be a sarcastic/humorous post, then forget about my responses below. The problem is that you treated her like a child, a lesser person. She isn't a lesser person in the marriage, she is an equal. OMG you deserve a gold medal for helping with the children! Are they not your kids too? If so, you didn't "help with the kids", you did YOUR SHARE, your duty as a father. The issue is that you feel like you did wonderfully by not doing things that "a conventional husband would do". Your idea of "a conventional husband" is definitely not that of a good or ideal husband.

  30. There's the physical hijab as well as the social one. We shouldn't wear tight clothes, sparkly hijabs which attract the wrong type of attention to you. The social hijab is how you act around non mahrams...
    1 point
  31. Hmm, interesting. Well, I think that 'hijab' is not all physical, as in if there is a female who wears a hijab but has a boyfriend, doesn't abide to the laws of Islam then she is not abiding by her 'social hijab'. Though, on the more practical side I think covering what Allah has asked of you to cover in the best way you can is fine. About colours, I personally avoid red but that's just me xD And really as long as her intention is good, then who are we to judge?

  36. If that is the case then, why is the verse speaking to the believers in the second person and then addressing them in the third person? "yet there hath not come unto you the like of (that which came to) those who passed away before you? Affliction and adversity befell them," Maybe the 'them' refers to the past nations because the verse before it says: 'those who passed away before you'. Anyhow there is nothing wrong with asking "When will the help of Allah come?", it doesn't necessitate despair. I don't know which past prophet/s it's referring to.

  42. I am just a minor student of Islamic knowledge and It is my humble observation in this regard. I think that in Shia fiqh the rijal is not that important as it is in Sunni fiqh. We have twelve holy Imams (Golden Chain) of narrations. The narrators who reported from these twelve holy Imams (a.s) in their respective times hold less importance. Our faith is based on direct sayings of Imams (a.s) in their respective times who were being heard by many people/followers and there were less chances of deception and lie. On the other hand the Sunni reporters are common people. Their were reliable as well as non reliable reporters and they are separated in times from Prophet's times to the next generations. It is also important to note here that there is so much diversion of opinion regarding a reporter in Sunni side. Most of the time personal bias is also involved in weakening a reporter in Sunni side. Most of time we see in Shia side the hadiths are narrated in the following manner... SHIA REPORTS: Narrated A from Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s) who reported from his father Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) who reported from his father Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s) who reported from his father Imam Hussain (a.s) who said that Prophet (pbuh) said ....... SUNNI REPORTS: Narrated Abu Huraira that prophet (pbuh) said or Narrated A from B who narrated from C who narrated that Hazrat Aysha (r.a) said that prophet (pbuh) said... It appears in Sunni side the reliability of narrators is more random and diverse while in Shia side the weak narrators are easily picked up. Even otherwise, the authenticity of reports in Shia side depends more on "matan" and whether the report is in accordance with Quran and settled Sunnah.

  44. To ensure that you are always in fashion, dress in the garment of piety (libaasut-taqwa). The best clothing and adornment is righteousness which covers the nakedness of sin and adorns man with virtue. íóÇ Èóäöí ÂÏóãó ÞóÏú ÃóäúÒóáúäóÇ Úóáóíúßõãú áöÈóÇÓðÇ íõæóÇÑöí ÓóæúÂÊößõãú æóÑöíÔðÇ ۖ æóáöÈóÇÓõ ÇáÊóøÞúæóìٰ Ðóٰáößó ÎóíúÑñ ۚ Ðóٰáößó ãöäú ÂíóÇÊö Çááóøåö áóÚóáóøåõãú íóÐóøßóøÑõæäó O children of Adam! We have indeed sent down to you clothing to cover your shame, and (clothing) for beauty and clothing that guards (against evil), that is the best. This is of the communications of Allah that they may be mindful. (Surah A'raaf: 26) ”And say unto the believing women that they cast down their gaze and guard their private parts, and they display not their “Zinat” (adornment) except what becomes apparent of it; and they draw their “Khumur” (head covers) over their “Juyub” (neck-slits); and they display not their “Zinat” except to their husbands, or their fathers, or the father of their husbands, or their brothers, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brother's sons, or their sister's sons, or their women or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants void of sexual desires, or the children who have not yet attained the knowledge of women's secrets (or nakedness), and they should not strike their feet so that what they hide of their “Zinat” becomes known; and turn you all unto Allah, O you believers, so that you may be successful.” [Holy Quran, 24: 30-31] ”O Women of the Prophet! You are not like any other woman, if you fear (Allah); so be not soft in your speech, lest lusts after you he in whose heart is disease; and speak a good speech; ”And stay in your houses and display not yourselves like the display of the Ignorance of Yore…”[Holy Quran, 33: 32-33] ”O Prophet! Say unto your wives, and your daughters and the women of the believers that they let down upon them their 'Jilbab' (robe which covers head, face and shoulders); so that they may be distinguished, so that they will not be troubled; Allah is Oft-Forgiving the most Merciful.” What NOT to do: “….Their women will be dressed, yet naked; on their heads will be like the humps of lean camels; do curse them, for they are truly cursed.” [Kanzu 'l-'ummal, vol. 16, ch. 6, p.401, hadith no. 45106; see also hadith no. 45013 on p. 383.] The Holy Prophet on seeing a bride in a thin dress said: ”A woman who dressed like this, is not the one who believes in the Surah an-Nur.” The Prophet said: ”Whoever wears a dress of fame in this world, Allah will cloth him with a dress of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection, then set it on fire.” Interesting Reads: The Rules of Modesty According to the Five Islamic Schools of Law Hijab, The Dress of Modesty in Islam (wasalam)

  45. A minor correction to your suggestion; a wee bit to the point. And hopefully no one gets hurt to the point of divorce. :P But to be honest, If my missus couldn't even say "shut up" to me as a joke or even as a mild admonition for my indiscretions, I'd find her very boring and our relationship bland. But if the relationship is already shaky, with recent history of numerous arguments and fights, then saying 'shut up' may be the last nail in the coffin. It really depends on the internal strength of a couple's relationship.

Bottom of the Barrel Make wudhu', she told her children Lest you be killed today And eaten by ravens As the bodies lay still The survivors searched for safe haven And while the oppressor swings around his deadly mace The people pray that God has made paradise for him forbidden It's hard to stay clean Under an evil regime Palpably tyrannical and never keen Sometimes, you need to endure and wait Stop the debate until the Saviour storms the gate While other times you must act to be free Or else you will find yourself dying on your knees

  48. Okay first - false comparison. When I say people decide to abort their babies, I obviously mean 'babies' who they don't want at that particular time, for whatever reason. The same person(s) may want to have a baby later on, which won't end the human race. Likewise, for animals. Second - how is determining what is 'natural', relevant to looking into animal behavior? That should make going around naked, having intercourse in public and fighting for territorial and sexual rights, also 'natural' since that's what is very common behavior among animals too. According to a hadith, animals have been given desires and humans have been given desires and intellect (and hence they have to work with both). That is the fundamental difference. Animals will fulfill their urges in whatever means possible. Looking at them, and following in their footsteps in hope of 'doing exactly what nature demands of you' - why have intellect at all? Still, for the heck of it: Animals do kill their babies. You missed the part where I said, I'm not asking you to ignore the fact that you have desires. You claiming so though, is like saying masturbation is the only way of fulfilling them (when it's clearly not). Your desires are gifts, as you rightly mentioned - bounties, in fact. They certainly are good for us, but when not used for the purpose they have been given, then they do nothing but harm. They need to be 'taken care of' in the best manner possible, as prescribed by Allah and His Prophet (pbuh). That's my point.

  49. I think you need to be scared straight kiddo: Imam Muhammad al-Baqir () says:- “Fornication has six types of effects. Three are for this world and three for the Hereafter. The three evils which become evident in this world are:- 1. The face of the adulterer loses countenance. 2. He falls into depravity and destitution. 3. His death draws near. And the three punishments for Hereafter are: 1. He is liable for Divine anger. 2. His reckoning is severe. 3. He abides forever in Hell. Fornicator in the Barzakh The fifth Imam (as) has also said, “Whoever commits Fornication with a Muslim, Jew, Christian or Magian woman, whether she is a slave or a free woman; and dies without repenting of his sin, then the Almighty Allah opens three hundred doors of punishment in his grave. From each door many snakes, scorpions and pythons emerge from the fire and burn and torment him till the Day of Qiyamat.” Fornicator on the Day of Judgement Imam Muhammad Baqir (as) describes the fornicator in detail and says that when he would be raised from his grave on the Day of Judgement he shall be in a horrible state. The Imam says, “When a fornicator will rise from his grave the stink of his body shall hurt the people. The people will know what deeds he had committed in the world. Till the Almighty Allah would order him to be thrown into the fire.” Then Imam Baqir () continues, “Know that Allah has prohibited Himself the haraam things. He has also prescribed the rules and regulations of life. No one is more modest than Allah. It is His modesty that He has prohibited Fornication.” I know you have stated that you haven't plunged into technical fornication but u are getting real close. Your death is drawing near if you keep this up...
