  1. May Allah grant him a reward for his good deeds and purify his soul from any wrong actions. Every one is aware that there is allot of bad history between him and the regime, but I hope people do not turn to abusing him in his death. Inalillah wa Inailayhi Rajioon.

  2. THE BURDEN OF EXPECTATIONS Outside the capital city, two men stood in line to buy their last few groceries before the store closed for the new year’s holiday. One man was from the large, bustling city and the other lived in the countryside. Both men approached the counter together. The grocer said to both men, “Look, I’m about to close and I have two pieces of candy left over that I didn’t sell…do you men have any children?” “Yes!” They both replied. “Here.” the grocer said, handing each man piece of candy. “Happy New Year!”. ‘I’ll teach my son a lesson with this’ thought the man from the city. ‘I’ll make my son smile with this’ thought the man from the country. Both men put the candy in their pockets and returned home. When the man from the city returned he was tired from fighting traffic. He knew that his wife had asked him to sweep the stairs outside their apartment, but he was too tired. “Son!” he yelled to his son. “Listen, if you go sweep the stairs for me I will give you an extra special treat tomorrow!” His son didn’t say a word. In his mind, however, he was imagining what the surprise could be. He thought maybe a shiny new toy gun he saw on t.v., or maybe some new clothes. He quickly grabbed the broom from the closet and swept the stairs. His father smiled. When his son returned his father remembered what he forgot to buy for the celebration tomorrow. His wife had told him three times to get it and she would be very angry that he forgot, as he usually did. He motioned to his son to come next to him and whispered in his ear to run downstairs and across the street to the only store that would only still be open. The son gave a knowing look to his father and took the change from his father’s hand, put it in his pocket and ran out the door. The father smiled, even bigger then last time. ‘I’m getting a lot of benefit from this piece of candy’ he thought to himself. All the way downstairs and across the street the son was imagining the glorious prize that awaited him tomorrow. Later that evening the family was sitting watching t.v. and discussing the days events. The mother asked “So how did you do on your math test today?” “Allright” the son replied “What was your grade?” the mother asked “70%” the boy said sheepishly. “It was a very hard test!” He protested. “70%!” the father yelled and switched off the t.v. “ You go straight to your room and study math!” “But we don’t have school for two more weeks! It’s vacation, remember!” The son refrained “And you will study for the rest of the night or you will not get anything tomorrow. Understand!” The father replied with a stern look. The mother gave her husband a puzzled look, and went into the kitchen. “You’re the meanest father in history!” the son exclaimed, and stormed off to his room. The father sat back down, turned the t.v. back on and fell asleep. When he awoke, he went to his son’s room to check on him. His son had fallen asleep at his desk with his head in the middle of his open math book. The father smiled. In the morning the father reached into the pocket of his robe, handed the piece of candy to his son and smiled. “Thanks” his son said, forcing the words from his lips. The boy opened the candy and put it in his mouth. He thought the taste was bitter. On the same morning in the countryside the other man woke up. “Good Morning!” he said to his wife and son. “Come here” he said to his son. The son complied. “Open your hand” he said, reached into the pocket of his robe, took out the candy and placed it gently in his son’s hand. “Thank you father!” the son replied. The boy opened the candy, put it in his mouth and smiled wide. He thought it was the sweetest candy he ever tasted in his life.

  3. Well, you're inevitably going to have some sort of lens through which you understand and interpret the religion. When you tnk hiabout it a bit, it's not possible to simply "read it off" the primary texts (Qu'ran and narrations) in some bare, unmediated way. It is a set of revelations to a profoundly different time and place. Some work and methodology is needed to peer beyond the veils of differences of time and place to determine what is core and what is merely context. What was the context? What were the key essential details of the situations to which the revelations and narrations related? What were the goals the prophet and aimmah were looking to achieve with their solutions? But such is key if we want to understand what, if any lessons of guidance to draw from these texts for our own time, place context. It is tempting to be simplistic and just say "that's overcomplication; these texts are timeless guidance, and we should take that to mean that legal judgements within them are always true literally as written, always and everywhere." But this tends to lead to Wahhabi literalism, or its Shia equivalent.

  5. If "western ideals and constraints" make us question things like the permissibility of sexual intercourse with nine year olds and the inferiority attributed to women then I'd say that "western ideals and constraints" are a very good thing to have.

  6. You're analogy is near to, but is not the Shi'a view. Most parts of being a Muslim are expressed physically (fasting, praying, performing Hajj, offering sacrifice) but some are kept in the heart (belief in Tawhid, Risalah, Wilayah). While you can detect the performance of the former, you can not know the presence of the latter, since beliefs, unless proclaimed or revealed openly, are between you and your God. A person who prays, fasts, performs Hajj, offers sacrifice, and does other Islamic rites, might be a Muslim, or he might be a hypocrite. His other actions will suggest (usually those in his day to day life, like behaviour and speech with others) which one he really is. But it is upon the fallible Muslims to check and assess the faith of people. A person, who declares he's a Muslim, is a Muslim to the rest of the Ummah, until he apostatizes - even though, his actions may reveal the filthiest character, and point towards hypocrisy only. And hence, no fallible possesses any right to declare any such person a Kafir. The actions of the three Caliphs, were very disrespectful to the family of the Prophet (pbuh). Anybody who disrespects them, disrespects us, but it still is no reason to say they are Kafir, since before departing from this world, they did not express any will to apostatize from Islam. This disrespect to them is often magnified, to the extent that many people start calling them Kafir. But this does not automatically become the majority view. Even if find that the majority people do hold a similar view, I'm sure you understand that majority does not signify truth, nor does minority signify falsehood. They did not declare themselves as non-Muslims, so they will remain Muslims for the world until the Day of Judgement. wa (salam) Basim Ali Jafri

  7. ^Allama Majlisi has taken this narration from Taqrib al-Maarif attributed to Shaykh Abi al-Salah al-Halbi. The narration is weak and mursal because the tariq from Shaykh Abi al-Salah al-Halbi to Abi Ali al-Khurasani is not established as sahih. http://www.al-shia.org/html/ara/books/lib-hadis/behar69/113.htm http://yazeinab.org/arabic/aqaed/books/all/t_maref/t_maref-13.html#tm088 w/s

  8. Assalamu Alaykum Actually Ayatullah Montazeri was critical of the actions of the regime ever since the days of Sayyid Khomeini. He mentions this in his memoirs and it is well known about him. Also it isnt that hes against VF its that he is against the form of VF known as "Velayateh Motlaghehyeh Intisaabi Faqeeh" whereas he argues for a form of VF known as "Velayateh Moqayyadeh Intekhaabi Faqeeh" which is different. He also puts a lot of emphasis on the Iranian nation's own right to choose their leadership and what type of government they want. So for example if they do not want this form of Islamic government, they can vote it out of power. He also placed alot of emphasis on freedom of press and dealing with dissident viewpoints in a calm peaceful and positive manner instead of house arrests and what not. Personally I am not convinced that hes a disgruntled politician. To me he seemed like he was just upset at how the regime had twisted the ideals of the revolution he fought so hard for.

  9. Of course not. But some folks seem to think that we are blood-sucking vampires and that somehow we are bullies in an otherwise peaceful region. I merely brought up an example of something good we are doing. The Peace Pipeline was our idea too, and it fell apart thanks to American pressure on India and Wahabi pressure on Pakistan (FYI we also provide Pakistan with free electricity). Whenever we have a good idea for cooperation, it is suppressed. And then they wonder why we are distrustful ("paranoid"). I'm tired of all this Iran-bashing.

  10. If by believer, you mean mu'min, then no, we do not consider them believers. They are in no way mu'mineen. Only one who accepts al-Wilayah is considered by Imamis to be a mu'min. That obviously rules out the first two (and the third, for that matter). To say they were not Muslims and kuffaar would be a stretch, however. 'Allama al-Majlisi compiled Bihar al-Anwar without regard to the "authenticity" of the ahadeeth contained therein. He wanted to create a compendium of all the Imami riwayaat extant (and he even included many Sunni narrations), and leave it to others to examine them forensically. As a result, there are many sound narrations, but there are at least as many which would be considered weak or at least questionable. Just because a hadeeth exists in Bihar does not mean that its contents should be considered as forming part of Imami 'aqaaid.

    Crossing certain lines

There is a maze for the sinner, A zigzagging of lines, Certain ones he is willing to cross Certain ones he has never crossed And will never cross Some lines he has crossed and may wish Never to cross again. The sinner plays this hopscotch motion As he unwinds the utterance of repentance Absorbs back the tears he shed in the middle of the night And blots out of his memory - the devoted promises crisscrossed in His heart. The muslim sinner is in motion against the one He cares for. He is sinning against himself and the One who he Bears witness; the One who gave him life, Raised him as a child; Who feeds him And clothes him, and who takes care of him. The One who averts calamities and provides Refuge in hardship. The Only Friend in hardship The Only Trustworthy Confidante. So while he hopscotches, Amongst the many lines before him Pretending, claiming ignorance of The claim of His Lord He still wishes to only cross certain lines He still wishes to limit his sins He still will not go near certain lines But when he really meant not to oppose his Lord When he really felt inspired and enthralled by love When he really wept with abandon At the betrayal of the trust between him and his Lord Why does the sinner still sin?

WA wr wb.. you should've asked them 'what if i smile at the msg of my Imam Husayn? i don't think anyone can say it's a sin to laugh or smile in this month but i personally would avoid any group discussions that call for laughter-if that makes sense, i hope. this i'd try to do out of respect for the sacrifice of Imam when everyone else was against him and he had to stand for his whole family. he took the a lot of weight on his shoulders because he was able. he did everything Allah had enabled him to do. this, any believer must respect. may someone correct me iA if i made a mistake.

    There is hope

Tariq Ali's book is excellent (have not read Absent). Are you referring to my comment about ethnic cleansing? America has never done anything but pursue their own foreign policy agenda in Iraq and their motives have never altruistic. The No fly zone war was devastating as were the sanctions imposed on the Iraq that did nothing but harm the Iraqi people (you cant put pressure on a dictator who does not care if his people are dying). But ethnic cleansing? I don't think you can make a convincing argument that this is what drives American interests in that region.

    Muslim youth and Homosexuality

I am not throwing it out. I mean its still gonna be somewhere in my dusty copy of Al Kafi if I want to read it. I don't pretend it doesn't exist, I just don't see how the hell that relates to the topic at hand. I read the haddith and I recognize that If Imam Ali were here he would behead 1/2 of San Fransisco and burn their bodies as some form of creepy postmortem symbolism. What now? Should I slap my gay peer on the hand and tell him he has been a naughty boy? If execution is the punishment for being gay (something that people can't choose to be but can choose to act on) what am I supposed to do with that critical bit of information? You stress that its important to note we do not have the government or judiciary system necessary to carry out such punishments.. so what exactly is your point? Just a stance against them or loud cries denouncing and rejecting them? How can you not see that this will only be counter productive and will not be beneficial to anyone? These are human beings we are talking about, not some random gay man in a haddith (whose crimes may have been known to Imam Ali) who has suddenly become the poster child for how we should deal with homosexuality through the ages. I only get personal because the problem with most of what you say is consistent.. you don't know how to go from haddith to present day. You just cant seem to make that jump and that is unfortunate for you and entertaining for me. The problem is when people take you seriously and Muslims look like another group of crazies trying to force their religion into other people's bedrooms in countries where they have no business doing that.

  20. I was half-joking Anyway... the "supporting terrorists" accusation is the dumbest [Edited Out] I ever heard. And it never ceases to be dumb, no matter who makes the accusation (and against whom they make it). So we support what some would call terrorists in Iraq. And guess what? The US, Israel, Britain, and Saudi Arabia support what we would call terrorists in Iran (PKK, MKO, al-Ahwaz, etc.). On a related note: I always laugh when US officials express disgust at Pakistani officials for their past ties with the Taliban (when the Americans themselves propped them up during the 1980s). So yeah... that was very weak. You'll have to do better than that. And you're welcome for the free electricity.

  21. Salam I'm very confident about myself, and I don't compare myself to other women. Why? Because I know who I am - that I'm unique. I see how majority of women I bump in to are extremely boring (sorry but that's my opinion...lol) and have no special personality at all. They think they do but they don't. The bimbos, sarcasmos, feminists, wannabe hippies, the ghetto chicks, tough chicks, the obedient weaklings, the quiet reading horse...what's so special about any of that? Every woman you meet applies to onw of the mentioned personality types...I'm not arrogant but I don't fall into any of them...so I feel like I'm unique. Actually, everyone who meets me, especially men, tell me I'm like no one they've ever encountered - alhamdulellah. That was the internal bit. There's obviously a physical bit too but I haven't mentioned it so much because I've come to learn that beauty for men is NOT what's on the outside only - it's just a small part of it (if it's serious relationships we're talking about here). I've noticed that it's really just stupid (yes, literally dumb/stupid = low IQ) men who find plastic attractive, or very young boys/underdevelopped men. Sorry but I don't envy women who have those type of men in their fan base LOL. But men aside, I don't aspire to look like models and actresses. I ahve a very different FIXED idea of what a woman should look like: she should have curves. Not talking fat here, just some meat on the bones...women are supposed to have breasts, thighs, hips and butts...those curves are what seperates us from the male body...so I don't at all understand why women these days are so busy with hiding their womanhood...trying to get slim hips, slim thighs. There's a reason why most women can't naturally achieve that kind of tooth pick body: we're not supposed to be that way! I'm personally very content and proud of my physical appearance...I'm proud to be FEMININE and the curves that I'm supposed to have. I don't care that I can't squeeze my butt into a size 2...the day I can, I'd know that I need to eat an extra burger. I care about fashion, I care about make-up, I care about grooming...and take ½ hour every morning to put myself together. It's important to me to keep up my appearances and look my best - but because it makes me feel good. Like I'm doing what's naturally in me...as a woman. And yes, it also feels good to know that a man is enjoying it too. I'd never not make myself attractive for my husband. And I wouldn't get a husband who finds plastic attractive...so I'd probably not go under the knife without a very good reason for it.

  24. Hello brother, the way I see it we are each born with different attributes. Some of us are tall, some skinny and some are born with homosexual tendencies. We cannot criticize the way Allah has created us. We need to make a distinction between someone who is born with homosexual tendencies and someone who is born with homosexual tendencies and acts upon them and practicies homosexuality. Criticizing the fist group is in fact homophobic as they have no control over the way they were born.

  26. Salaamu-ya-Haq Chaar Baap-o-Jai Shree Krishnan Madad Was Salaam What do you nean by leasing Pakistan to the UK. Also do you really think it will do any good in case Pakistan is that bad and terrible. Also do you think that the Relevent authaurities in UK are competent & capable enough to handle it? Besides it is a fact that especially against Pakistan some if not all of the British have a very hostile attitude , which would lead to a situation of non adjustment or Maladjustment most acute for many a Pakistani with any iota of sense of Self Respect , Confidence & pride in identity. Sorry I dont agree with you. Also what about the way Pakistanis are treated in UK starting from the airport its self & that prefferential and honourary treatment is given to Indians & Bangladeshis. Sorry I dont think so that UK is fit to handle the job especially when it is not even neutral its self. Besides who wants to join a country like UK? On the other hand think of it this way. Dont they not have enough of their own fair share of all manner of problems of their own rather that to merge with a far distant country on the other side of the world, where so many people including my self think the negetive aspect of them. Also consider the level of differences and contrasts b/w UK & Pakistan in that case how is it possible. For Pakistan the People and the local relevent authaurities are responsible no outsider especially one with a different out look and set of Values as well as general attitude. Also if Being culturally different and contrasting is cited as one of the reasons for having Bangladesh Split away from Pakistan, then how do you think that Pakistan will jell in with UK. Besides seeing how bad and biassed as well as intentionally agressive as well as pugnacious some British Nationalists can get, I in my right mind wont want to share a country with them. Besides Why dont you talk about Giving Kashmir to Pakistan as wellas even Giving back Bangladesh even to Pakistan. Or How about Making India a Part of Pakistan if that is the Case. besides the truth of the matter is a great deal of our due share is out standing. So I say Better Fix it first before deciding our future by monstrous outsiders who never meant us any good. To Marbles: Hmmm… not sure what to make of this. It is interesting that you so clearly recognize the relatively newly established foibles of a bare minority of women but neglect the century’s long foibles of men. Unless you are taking care of your own backyard of ignorant posts – I would be careful about attacking others. Anyway, this is a gross exaggeration. I am really surprised to see this from you. How are these two idea related? Academic achievement is to be applauded regardless of the gender. Academic achievement =small minded attitude? OK – I am confused - does this supposition work for men too? To Baradar What do you mean?

    Zakir Naik

MAULANA ZAKI BAQRI answered NA-LAIK MALOON Ref: Nazr-e-Qaim Trust : http://nqtrust.multiply.com/journal/item/17 Salaamun Alaikum, First thing I would like ask is that, is he ready to do munazarah with me in this subject as he loves to do it with Hindus and Christians? It seems he doesn't believe in the books of Sihahe Sittah which are the most authentic books in accordance with the Sunni believe. Follwoing are some examples: As per Holy Qur'an Chapter 2:44.'ATA'MUROONAN-NASA BIL-BIIRI WA TANSAUNA ANFUSAKUM WA ANTUM TATLOONAL-KITABA AFALA TA'QILOON '. ' What ! do you enjoin men to be good and neglect your awn souls while you read the Book; have you then no sense? ' Is naik having no sense that he adds word ' May Allah (S.W.T.) be pleased with him ' for that yazid who was making mockery of HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) and revealation.Naik should refer to the books of scholars from all muslim sects who have many differences in other things but in the matter of yazid they stand united. There are unanimously accepted famous couplets of yazid. The cursed yazid was reciting these couplets while he was drunk.Just one of it is sufficient to know that Yazid was rejecting the revealation.' MA KHABARUN JAA'A WALA WAHYUN NAZAL ' i.e no news came and and nothing was revealed. Is naik having no sense in claiming that karbala was a political war.Is naik not inviting the wrath of Allah (S.W.T.) by rejecting the saying of IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.). IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) himself said that ' INNAMA KHARAJTU LITALABIL-ISLAHI FI UMMATI JADDI ' (Indeed I have taken a step (I came out) for the Islah of my grandfather's (i.e HOLY PROPHET'S) Ummah). How can naik's version of Islam be accepted while he rejects the authentic saying of Truthful Imam and grandson of HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) Is naik having no sense that IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) was from amongst AHLULBAIT (A.S) who are purified by Allah (S.W.T.) and this is announced in 33:33.Sahih bukhari, sahih muslim and other source of traditions explain the great merits of AHLULBAIT (A.S.).Hence the enemy and killer of IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) will be none but impure and unjust as per QUR'AN.Then where does naik stand? Is naik having no sense that he is adding the words ' may Allah(S.W.T.) be pleased with him ' after the name of cursed yazeed who killed the leader of youths of paradise as per unanimously accepted hadith of HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) '' AL-HASANU WAL-HUSAINU SAYYIDA SHABABI AHLIL-JANNAH .' (The HASAN and the HUSAIN are the leader of youths of paradise).Does naik think that yazid was not unjust in killing AHLULBAIT (A.S.) and leader of youths of paradise. Which verse of holy Qur'an justifies the oppressions done on the family of HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) in karbala. On what basis can he call the ' supreme sacrifice ' to be a political war? naik quotes refrences to prove his point from other books in interfaith dialogue, hence naik is either hiding the truth about karbala if he has read or one can conclude that when it comes to discussion about Islam, AHLULBAIT (A.S.) and KARBALA, he is totally ignorant and he needs to come out of darkness about supreme sacrifice of karbala. Is naik having no sense in praising the killer of IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.), who in a way killed HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.). This is because both in sahihain and hundred of other books it is quoted from HOLY PRPHET (S.A.W.W.):' HUSAINU MINNI WA ANA MIN HUSAIN which means HHUSAIN is from ME and I am from HUSAIN'. This is not an ordinary saying explaining an ordinary relation of a grandfather and a grandson, because its the saying of that PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) for whom Allah (S.W.T.) has announced in Holy Qur'an ,Chapter 53:3 'WAMA YANTIQU ANIL-HAWA IN HUWA ILLA WAHYUN YUHA ' i.e He (HOLY PROPHET) doesn't speak out of desire, it is not but revealation that is revealed .' Hence Allah's PROPHET has announced that HE (S.A.W.W.) and IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) are related to each other through the supreme sacrifice which would the message of Islam. So rejecting IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) is rejecting PROPHET MUHAMMED (S.A.W.W.) and killing IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) is killing the HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.).Hence as per this true hadith, yazid actually killed HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.). Is naik having no snse that he supports a killer while Allah (S.W.T.) says in HOLY QURAN Chapter 5:32 ' MAN QATALA NAFSAN BIGHAIRI NAFSIN AW FASADIN FIL-ARZ FAKAANNAMA QATALAN-NASA JAMEEAA ' which means ' And whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men. Now that muslims unanimously accept IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) to be RIGHTEOUS GRANDSON OF HOLY PROPHET, IMAM, TRUTHFUL, FROM AMONG AHLULBAIT, LEADER OF YOUTHS OF PARADISE', then all muslims have to accept that each and every move of IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) is authenticated by HOLY QURAN and TRUE AHADITH.Hence there is no choice left but to condemn yazid the killer of IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.).The crime of yazid as per the verse mentioned is very big in all sense , because if killing of one innocent man is like killing all men, then killing of leader of paradise is like killing all the people of paradaise. TRUTH is that for naik there is not even one verse in QURAN nor one authentic hadith mentioning his name to guarantee paradise for him and his followers, but IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) is not only mentioned by name and is guaranteed paradise by TRUTHFUL PROPHET (S.A.W.W), but he will also be the leader of the youths of paradise. TRUTH is that naik is not from among pure AHLULBAIT (A.S), hence naik can turn out to be impure and can always go wrong but IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) is pure and he didn't go wrong for a moment. TRUTH is that naik is not absolutely righteous but IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) is absolutely righteous.Because naik is not the righteous grandson of HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) nor the PROPHET said that He is from him, hence naik can always go astray but not IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.). TRUTH is that naik is not directly taught and guided by HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) hence he himself can be be misled and he can mislead others due to lack of knowledge, prejudice, evil self (nafsil-ammarah), evil deeds and whispering of satan. But IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) was directly taught and guided by HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.) , He is the guided one and guiding others towards paradise. TRUTH is that naik has become devils advocate by saying 'may Allah (S.W.T.) be pleased with him ' for yazid.IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) the rightly guided IMAM didn't do bay'at of cursed yazid and sacrificed his, family member's and companions life but naik is trying to because yazid was * Usurper as he was not an appointed caliph of Allah (S.W.T.) * Drunkard ' SHARIBUL-KHUMUR ' * Murtad due to rejection of QURAN and revealation. * Opreesor who oppressed HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.)'s family members, women, children and some companions of HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.). * Killer of the great and pious companions of HOLY PROPHET (S.A.W.W.), righteous BANU HASHIM and IMAM HUSAIN (A.S.) the leader of youths of paradise. H?usayn ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi T?alib (ÍÓíä Èä Úáí Èä Ã?? ØÇáÈ) (third of Shaban 626, at Medina - tenth of Muharram 680, at Karbala) was the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the son of Ali, the first Shia Imam, and the fourth Sunni Rightly Guided Caliph, and Muhammad's daughter Fatima Zahra. Husayn ibn Ali is revered as the third Imam (Supreme Authority) by most Shi’a Muslims, and as the second Imam by the majority of Ismaili Shi'a Muslims.[1] He was killed in the Battle of Karbala in 680.[2] The anniversary of his death is called Ashura and it is a day of mourning and religious observance for Shi'a Muslims. This day is well-known because of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali the grandson of Muhammad, along with his family and close friends at the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (680). Yazid I Ibn Muwa'via Ibn Abu Sufyan was in power then and wanted the Bay'ah (allegiance) of Husayn ibn Ali. Yazid was openly going against the teachings of Islam in public and changing the sunnah of Muhammad.[citation needed] Historians agree that if Husayn ibn Ali had not taken the stance that he did, the religion of Islam would not be what it is today.[citation needed] After Hasan ibn Ali was born; Fatima al-Zahra bint Muhammad became pregnant with her second child. Fatima started noticing the signs that childbearing was near, but Muhammad had already foretold of Husayn ibn Ali’s birth. On Sha'ban 3, 4 H.E., Muhammad was given news of the birth of Husayn ibn Ali. Muhammad hurried to the house of Fatimah al-Zahra his daughter and Ali ibn Abi Talib. Saffiyah bint ‘Abd al-Muttalib, Asma bint Umais, and Umm Salama were present when Husayn ibn Ali was born. When Muhammad asked Safiyah bint 'Abd al-Muttalib to bring him the newborn child, she said: "We have not cleaned him yet." When Muhammad heard this, he said: "You clean him? Surely Allah the Exalted has cleaned and purified him." Asma bint Umais took the newborn child to him wrapped in a piece of cloth. Muhammad took him in his arms and recited the call to prayer (Adhan) into his right ear, and read the shorter version (Iqama) in his left ear. He then placed the infant in his lap and wept. "May my father and mother be your sacrifice", Asma bint Umais asked Muhammad, "Why are you crying?" "Because of my son", he replied. "He is a newborn infant", she said. "O Asma", he said, "After me, the transgressing party will kill him. May Allah never grant them my intercession." Then he said: "Asma, do not tell Fatima about this, for she has just given birth to him."[3] After Husayn ibn Ali was born, Archangel Gabriel descended to Muhammad and revealed to him to give the newborn child the name Al-Husayn. Al-Husayn is the Arabic version of the old Hebrew name Shabir, which was the name of Harun’s second son. When Gabriel descended to Muhammad, scores of angels accompanied him to congratulate and console Muhammad for Husayn ibn Ali's birth and expected death. Seven days after the birth Muhammad shaved Husayn ibn Ali’s head and gave the gold equivalent of the weight of his hair as charity for him. 1. ^ "al-Husayn ibn 'Ali". Encyclopedia Britannica Online. 34. Montazeri was a disgruntled politician. A lot of Iranians like to glorify him, simply for the reason that he was the unrealized dream (in the same way that Mosaddegh was). But looking at the facts, you will see that he only started denouncing the political doctrine of VF after he fell out of favour with Emam Khomeini. To me, that sounds like self-interest and nothing more. He lost to Khamenei and was bitter about it. And of course, a lot of his rulings in the past 20 years have been very politically motivated (i.e. "anything that is done with the intent to overthrow the regime is permissible"). You are right, he gets a lot of venom from the supporters of the leader. And his work during the revolution is downplayed. But by the same token you can say that the opposers of the leader erroneously glorify him and elevate him to a status which he does not deserve. In any case... inna lilah wa inna ilayhi rajoon

  35. salam everyone just need some advice regarding the month of murraham and the morning process of what happened at karbala. i converted to islam over 1 year ago and have been following the sunny side of islam until i found and researched al-ulbayt and now i am a shia muslim. it was my first time yesterday at a shia mosque during the start of murrham. i didnt know what happens at these events and was quite suprised on what i saw and how i was treated. i was laughing with one of my fellow sisters before anything had begun and another shia sister told me off and said i was not allowed to laugh and joke during the month of murrham and i am supposed to mourn all month ( even though she was laughing and joking herself throughout the event) another sister also told me and my friend off and said we are supposed to be mourning and not smiling or laughinf for the rest of the month again she was also laughing and joking her self. this seemed very hyprocritical of them and i was very angry also because they hurt another sister by saying this to her too. is it true that we are not allowed to smile and laugh throughout the whole of murrham and only mourn.? hadiths and quranic verses will help me very much. confused new muslim sister. help

Thats perfectly legitimate. Fox News framed it as "Operation Iraqi Freedom" and you are framing it as genocide and ethnic cleansing. The reality? Its called war. It might be unjust, it might have had abuses (most wars are and do) and it might have caused irreparable damage and loss of life. Its still war and differentiating between the two is pretty easy. Neither was Hitler. Anyway, you will be hard pressed to find a war where there were not rampant (and some legitimate) accusations of abuse. The longer the war lasts and the more the "rally around the flag" phenomenon deceases, the more frequent and disturbing these accusations become. Some of it is bs propaganda and some of it is rogue soldiers or corrupt officials, some of it is failed foreign policy strategies and mentally retarded commanders in chief. Sad. Depressing. Still not ethnic cleansing.

Salam You know what all of your belief are to curse What if you spend all you life cursing Yazid and on the day of judgment you find out that he was not the person who did all this. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to curse those who were real culprit this is what i believe that those who were involve never get away with the curse

    woman complexes

Many women flaunt themselves for other women as well. Come on, you know you totally feel amazing when you're around your ugly friends. There is nothing wrong with breast implants by the way. For many women, implants and other versions of plastic surgery make them feel good about themselves, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Maybe you too should consider that Christmas special you're contemplating... :P Again, women like to look sexy for themselves too. There is nothing wrong in attempting to achieve your ideal body image. Yes, women are subjected to many complexes and insecurities, but they're also not as weak as you make them out to be. Not all women who want breast implants are really insecure about themselves - but having big boobs might just give them more confidence. Besides, being brown is a total disadvantage in that department. It certainly is not a waste of money. My question to you is, why not enhance our goodies - its called being proud of your femininity. Nothing wrong in being attractive for your spouse, and nothing wrong with being attractive for yourself either. I do think you underestimate the depth of many men out there too. As much as I consider myself a feminist, I know for sure most men out there aren't as daft as you describe them. Men naturally are more attracted to the women they love.

  42. They know nothing of consequence will be done against them. The Iraqi governmet has taken a soft tone with all of our neighbours, they've literally been getting away with murder. When you have soldiers of a foreign country raising their flag on your territory that's an act of war. Even if this area is disputed, what they have done is blatant provocation. It's not like these fools don't have enough problems already, they just seem bent on starting a fight with someone. 6ah hath-hum.

War for Oil, and Americans are going to take into consideration that they must preserve Iraqi culture and Religion and not spark heat between the religious, cultural, and regional groups of Iraq... NOT! They don't give a [Edited Out] about Iraqi's infact their trained to hate "sand niggers" "rag heads" and whatever else they call us. I beleive this is part of the War against muslims, but not as much as it is a war for oil and control of the Middle East. Such high death rates point to nothing but genocide or complete anarchy.

    Why our community?

Salaam brother, I completely agree with you.. But if that is all the youth of today think about, and if that is why they look forward to going to the masjid ie playing soccor.. then obviously that is wrong.. I mean yes, take interest in sports etc but what we need to remember is that we need to respect our moalana's by sitting inside the masjid when the majalis has started.. Not talking about last nights football game outside. But i understand what you mean, sHiAbOiI .. B)
