Iran: Ayatollah Saanei Slams Government Policies
shiasoldier786 and one other reacted to baradar_jackson for a topic
The turning point was 15th of Khordad, 1342 (some time in 1963). That was when everyone turned on him. I don't believe we have reached that moment with respect to I.R. Maybe so, but it was the 5-year economic plans which allowed the Iranian education system to advance. And it was this advance in the education system which brought a better quality of life to the countryside, and brought the middle class lifestyle to the small city and village areas. So even though a growing middle class could be trouble for I.R.I., it was the economic policies of the I.R.I. which created that middle class. My personal opinion/prediction: political restrictions will not budge. Instead, personal restrictions will be eased in order to pacify the middle class (which constitutes the bulk of the opposition). Maybe I am just being prejudiced, but I simply don't think Sunni Arabs have the propensity to revolt.2 points -
Is it halal to threaten to burn down a house....
gogiison2 and one other reacted to Bonafide Hustler for a topic
Of course it doesn't, but that's not the point here. There are thousands of muslims who have committed grave sins, who are nonetheless still muslims, but their credibility takes a massive blow and they wouldn't be fit to run a small religious group let alone lead the whole ummah. This is simply common sense. Small mistakes here and there are understandable, a grave sin would not make you a disbeliever but certainly deem you not fit to be trusted by the whole of muslim ummah 1400 years down the road, especially given the political chaos that ensued right after the prophets death.2 points -

EyeHeart reacted to Alpha_Female for a topic
Salam. Not all people remove ugliness to attract the opposite sex, some people do it to avoid all the degrading, humiliating stares they get from having an ugly feature. I can imagine that it must be really uncomfortable to be looked at like that. Making your eyebrows more suitable and natural to your face makes people notice you less. That's what some people want and that's the reason why they pluck their eyebrows.1 point -

We call them "Wahhaabis" because of their patriach Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhaab, they wish that we call them "salafis" in order so that the bitter truth is lost in the shifting sands of time, but we will not let them forget where they come from, they wish to be called salafis only to legitimize their regime and nothing else. Tajseemis are not salafis, Wahaabis are! Understand? Besides, Ali (as) cleft from the name Al-Ali (SWT), we Shi'a are called by others as Aliy'een or Alawi (meaning followers of Ali), it is not derogatory to us nor demeaning to our Lord, All-mighty Allah. More Protests in Iran
Irishman reacted to baradar_jackson for a topic
This is not a question of secular vs. religious There is much more at stake here, which could affect the power balance of the world in decades to come. The way I see it, there will be five world powers in the near future: the United States, Russia, the European Union, China, and Iran. In terms of conventional strength, Iran is the weakest of these powers. However, they have one advantage over the others. Jalal Al-e Ahmad wrote in his 1952 book "Gharbzadegi" that, in the 1930s, the Soviet Union was the flagship of world revolution. They sponsored revolutions everywhere, and they became the ideological role model for these revolutions. However, Al-e Ahmad wrote that "today" (1952), the Soviet Union has more in common with the West than with the East, and that China has replaced the Soviet Union as the flagship of world revolution. If Al-e Ahmad was alive today, I am sure he would say that, in the last 20 years or so, another transition has taken place. China now has more in common with the West than with the East. And Iran has replaced China as the flagship of world revolution. And the chief indicator of this (in my opinion) is Iran's popularity and ideological influence in Latin America and Africa. Throughout modern history, no two parts of the world have been more volatile than Latin America and Africa. They have the most revolutions and the most coups. The fact that the countries of Latin America and Africa look up to Iran gives Iran a certain advantage over its larger, stronger adversaries. If Iran becomes just another secular Muslim country, all of this means nothing and Iran will be a proxy again instead of projecting its own power.1 point -

Translation continued from last post... New reports have been surfacing of students clashing with one another in Azad university. Opposing student groups outside of Azad university's Technology department chanted at each other, with the confrontation becoming violent at times. Some of the windows of the university's technology building were broken in these scattered clashes. (Time; 14:32). There have also been crowds numbering in the hundreds gathering outside of Shiraz university. Due to rain conditions, the crowds there have been modest in size. (14:38). The confrontations have heightened, with the students engaging each other physically rather than verbally. It has been reported that plain clothes security officials have used tasers against some of the students, and that tear gas has been fired. (14:45). Some clashes have occurred on University st. Parts of Revolution st have been closed off to pedestrians. Reports have also arisen of clashes between pedestrians and Police forces in Amir Kabir university. (14:55). gogiison2 reacted to guest 34193 for a topic
So it wasn't needed, but there's no problem in threatening to burn her house down with her in it to get that bay`a from the gathered companions? And you call yourself "pro-Ahl al-Bayt"? Or if you do have a problem with it, how then can you still be defending this man and praying for Allah to be pleased with him? See, for all your claims of loving them, when it comes down to it the fact you're defending such a wretched act and are still pleased with its perpetrator should tell you something about yourself. It's easy to condemn Yazid. It's not even that hard (though most Sunnis won't anyhow) to condemn Mu`awiya. The real test comes with something like this. Are you going to stand with the Prophet's daughter (as), or with the man who, whether seriously or idly, threatened to kill her? So which is it?1 point -

If a clause in the marriage contract explicitly states that the marriage will be null and void as soon as the husband marries another women, then the marriage will become void if the condition is met? Perhaps they still have to say the seegha for divorce? I think the more proper clause should be that the wife will get the right to divorce the husband if he marries another. It gives the woman time for reflection and she can exercise her right if so she wishes.1 point

dan_rafi reacted to Alpha_Female for a topic
Salam. Very good post, thank you :). As someone else somewhat wrote, it's pretty normal that women are being told they're in the wrong when they expect something out of men - especially if it's something men can't live up to. So when a man is not financially stable he'll say it's haram to require a financially stable man. When a man is not a virgin he'll have some other explanation as to why it's not right or normal for a woman to expect any man to be a virgin. I think this may just be part of male nature, lol. I mean, the excusing themselves and trying to make the women believe they're the ones in the wrong when the defficiency lies within them. I do realize that I'm limiting the selection of men down to a minimum when I require a virgin man. But that's what I want: a small selection of men who're right for me. Not a huge selection of men who're wrong for me. I think men like to have a huge selection of women to choose from, regardless of how right or wrong they are for them...but I think women are a bit different. We don't need a big selection to choose from...1 point -
I understand that there is an insistence by many men who most definitely desire to have a wife who has only been with them. I dont understand why the reaction if a woman just happens to want a husband who has only been with her. She is aware she is limiting her pool of possiblities somewhat, but is accepting of that,. It is her choice. And there are men who plan only to be with their wife... her choice wouldnt affect the men who dont plan to only be with their permanent wife.1 point

Irishman reacted to Bonafide Hustler for a topic
I understand where you are coming from but you are being extremely unfair in one respect. It is perfectly cool to demand of a man to live upto your expectations so long as they are under his control. The fact that you come across a man, single but was in some sort of a relationship with another individual in the past should hold absolutely no bearing on your decision. There is nothing wrong with men who have been in relationships before, in fact most men 20 years + have been. Loving, caring, spontaneous, financially stable, educated are all fair calls but the fact you cannot stand a man who liked another girl at one point in his life is unfair on your part. Honestly you are cutting your options short significantly and its you who might suffer. Just because a man has been involved in the past doesn't mean he is incapable of rocking your world, ESPECIALLY considering being in a relationship isnt a crime and completely independent of his personality.1 point -

Salam. I didn't write down all the things that are important to me, I just gave you guys an idea of where my priorities lie. I agree with Marbles that labelling things as "unislamic" should be done parsimoniously. Wanting a financially stable man has nothing to do with distrusting Allah, subhana wa ta'ala, at all but everything to do with wanting to live comfortably. Note that I'm not asking for a billionaire, Palace and Ferrari, just for someone who's stable enough to financially support a family. I don't think there's anything unislamic about that, or any disrespectful tones towards Allah, subhana wa ta'ala, in that.1 point -

To your question: well, a recommendation is just that: a recommendation. Which means that saying yes isn't necessarily better than saying no, and vice versa. I guess for me to say yes to this recommendation, I'd have to know the benefits of saying yes. I don't think a man would want to marry me if he knew that I need persuation to marry him, lol. Which is another side of the issue...because men surely must have requirements, too... Salam. Inshallah .1 point -

Salam. You've got some good points. I mentioned in a previous post that I don't mind crushes and "puppy love"...but I can't be bothered with a man who feels like he's lost the love of his life or his first love. I simply refuse to be 2nd best. Yes, that's what worried me and made me believe that maybe my surroundings are right about my requirement on virginity. You'd think that it's among Muslim men that one would be able to find a virgin man, but...I'm not so sure now that Muslim men keep it in their pants anymore (pardon my French). I'm not sure I totally agree with that. Sure, having some experiences definitely makes us aware of ourselves more so than if we have none. But I don't agree that you need to have lived through full-blown relationships before you have an idea of how to make a marriage work. I mean, people throughout history have been able to make marriages work without having had relationships first. I mean, what sexual and emotiona experiences did our Prophet, peace be upon him, have before he married Khadija? What about Imam Ali? Did he have a girlfriend before he got married? I very much doubt it...1 point -

(bismillah) (salam) I have been discussing with Sunnis for a long time now and my conclusion is that their madhab does not add up. It has big holes that cant be explained. The example you have quoted is another proof. Can the sunnis explain these hadith: Sahih Muslim, Book 020, Number 4476: It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The Caliphate will remain among the Quraish even if only two persons are left (on the earth), Sahih Muslim, Book 020, Number 4477: It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Samura who said: Ijoined the company of the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him) with my father and I heard him say: This Caliphate will not end until there have been twelve Caliphs among them. The narrator said: Then he (the Holy Prophet) said something that I could not follow. I said to my father: What did he say? He said: He has said: All of them will be from the Quraish. Sahih Muslim, Book 020, Number 4478: It has been reported on the authority of Jabir b. Samura who said: Iheard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: The affairs of the people will continue to be conducted (well) as long as they are governed by twelve men. Then the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him)said words which were obscure to me. I asked my father: What did theMessenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say? He said: All of the(twelve men) will be from the Quraish. Sahih Muslim, Book 020, Number 4483: It has been narrated on the authority of Amir b. Sa'd b. Abu Waqqas whosaid: I wrote (a letter) to Jabir b. Samura and sent it to him throughmy servant Nafi', asking him to inform me of something he had heardfrom the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). He wrote to me (inreply): I heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say onFriday evening, the day on which al-Aslami was stoned to death (forcommitting adultery): The Islamic religion will continue until the Hour has been established, or you have been ruled over by twelve Caliphs, all of them being from the Quraish. also heard him say: A small forceof the Muslims will capture the white palace, the police of the PersianEmperor or his descendants. I also heard him say: Before the Day ofJudgment there will appear (a number of) impostors. You are to guardagainst them. I also heard him say: When God grants wealth to any oneof you, he should first spend it on himself and his family (and thengive it in charity to the poor). I heard him (also) say: I will be yourforerunner at the Cistern (expecting your arrival). --------- The only explanation is the 12 Imams (as) that we believe in. All of them are from Quraish. Not everything is black and white. If it was so then there would be no point in testing us as no one will sin ever for he/she sees the consequences loud and clear. Allah swt is testing us all the times. Quran 3:7 says: åõæó ٱáøóÐöìٓ ÃóäÒóáó Úóáóíúßó ٱáúßöÊóٰÈó ãöäúåõ ÁóÇíóٰÊñ ãøõÍúßóãóٰÊñ åõäøó Ãõãøõ ٱáúßöÊóٰÈö æóÃõÎóÑõ ãõÊóÔóٰÈöåóٰÊñ ۖ ÝóÃóãøóÇ ٱáøóÐöíäó Ýöì ÞõáõæÈöåöãú ÒóíúÛñ ÝóíóÊøóÈöÚõæäó ãóÇ ÊóÔóٰÈóåó ãöäúåõ ٱÈúÊöÛóÂÁó ٱáúÝöÊúäóÉö æóٱÈúÊöÛóÂÁó ÊóÃúæöíáöåöۦ ۗ æóãóÇ íóÚúáóãõ ÊóÃúæöíáóåõۥٓ ÅöáøóÇ ٱááøóåõ ۗ æóٱáÑøóٰÓöÎõæäó Ýöì ٱáúÚöáúãö íóÞõæáõæäó ÁóÇãóäøóÇ Èöåöۦ ßõáøñ ãøöäú ÚöäÏö ÑóÈøöäóÇ ۗ æóãóÇ íóÐøóßøóÑõ Åöáøó Ãõæ۟áõæÇ۟ ٱáúÃóáúÈóٰÈö [shakir 3:7] He it is Who has revealed the Book to you; some of its verses are decisive, they are the basis of the Book, and others are allegorical; then as for those in whose hearts there is perversity they follow the part of it which is allegorical, seeking to mislead and seeking to give it (their own) interpretation. but none knows its interpretation except Allah, and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say: We believe in it, it is all from our Lord; and none do mind except those having understanding. So if Imam Ali didn't restore his right by force, there was a good reason for it bot because it was doubts its is not his or he is weak to take it back. No no no. The prophet (pbuh+f) said that we will be split into 73 sects and only 1 is the saved one (najeeya). All others must go through Hell for sometime to be purified before enetering Paradise, with some khalidoon (staying forever) in Hell. As far as the above Quranic verse is concerned, see the following commentary by Pooya/Ali: [Pooya/Ali Commentary 3:7] As explained in the commentary of verse 2 of al Baqarah the Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet. He knew the true meaning of every verse, or after him, it was Ali who claimed that he knew when, why and for whom every verse of the Quran was revealed. Most of the verses of the Quran are clear and decisive. There is no ambiguity in them. They are known as the muhkamat. They relate to the fundamentals of the faith, such as the oneness of Allah, the directions pertaining to the practice of the faith and the laws governing the day to day life of the faithful. They can neither be changed nor modified. Any man of average intelligence can understand and follow them. The mutashabihat are the verses which have been composed in subtle and profound diction and style. They carry implications other than the literal meanings, and therefore, are capable of giving different significations, like "The hand of Allah is on their hands" in verse 10 of al Fat-h. Verse 1 of al Hud says that the Quran is a book of clear and decisive verses. Verse 23 of al Zumar says that Allah has sent down the very best discourse as a book conformable in its repetition and consimilarity. Only the men of understanding who possess a higher level of intelligence contemplate and find out the meaningful implications of such verses. Average and ordinary minds cannot figure out or have knowledge of the real purport of such verses, and if they try this on their own, they are bewildered and go astray. As mentioned in the commentary of verse 1 of al Baqarah, the huruf muqatta-at are also meaningful but their subtle and profound meanings are known to Allah and His chosen representatives (Muhammad and ali Muhammad) only. Therefore, those who know the true purport of these symbolic letters occupy the highest position in the domain of knowledge and wisdom. In the well-known tradition of thaqalayn the Holy Prophet has clearly made known the fact that whoso remains attached with the Quran and his Ahl ul Bayt, after his departure from this world, will never go astray, because these two weighty authorities will never be separated from each other, and joined together, they shall meet the Holy Prophet at the spring of Kawthar; and "I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate", said the Holy Prophet in order to guide the faithfuls so that, to have knowledge of the Quran, they must refer to Ali and his Ahl ul Bayt, who alone know the true meanings of the mutashabihat. Zaygh means disease, perversity, evil, and wicked intention, the inclination to go against the truth and to blunder, revolt and go astray. Fitna means to create mischief, or to create difference of opinion and to mislead. "None knows its interpretation except Allah and those (who are) firmly rooted in knowledge", renders null and void all attempts made by scholars to discover the true meanings of the mutashabihat. The firmly rooted in knowledge are those whom Allah Himself gives the knowledge, as verse 49 of al Ankabut says: But it is clear revelations in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge. Therefore, the observation of the Ahmadi commentator that reading various passages in the light of each discover the true significance of ambiguous passages, is based upon his inclination to go out of the right course. The Christians also try in vain to assign divinity to Isa by calculating the numerical value of the haruf muqatta-at, and misinterpret the complex verses to suit their dubious theories. How the complex verses can be interpreted is not mentioned in this verse, nor anywhere in the Quran, but it is clearly disclosed that besides Allah only those, endowed with divine knowledge, know the true meanings of the mutashabihat. The firmly rooted in knowledge are the Holy Prophet and his Ahl ul Bayt, the thoroughly purified ones (Ahzab: 33), who possess the desired purity of heart and soul, essential for receiving and holding the truth in order to use it (Waqi-ah: 77 to 79) to do good to themselves and to others. It is obvious that there is no conceivable necessity of revealing complex verses or letter symbols if even the Holy Prophet, to whom the Quran was revealed, did not know their meanings. It is only a hypothetical inquiry, otherwise there is the clear mention of rasikhuna fil ilm (the firmly rooted in knowledge) in this verse, the first among whom is the Holy Prophet, and after him, as said earlier, his Ahlul Bayt are the custodians of his knowledge and wisdom, who alone are entitled to interpret every word of the Quran.1 point

(bismillah) Imam Ali and the Bani Hashim refused to give baya't (allegiance) to Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr and Umar along with their gang came to the house of Hazrat Fatimah (SA). Umar threatened to burn it down and get baya't by force. As far as this is concerned both Shia and Sunni agree to this point. According to other reports Imam Ali (as) was arrested and taken to the Mosque by force where he again refused to give Bayat. He did not take part in any wars along with Abu Bakr, Umar or Uthman. Nor did he take any official positions (governorships, etc). As far as why Imams did not seize power, they did not have enough supporters. Trying to seize power without enough support would have been suicide. But they did not give Bayat to anyone ether. When Yazid asked for Imam Hussain to give Bayat, he refused. Yazid got him killed in Karbala. WS1 point

(bismillah) (salam) It is up to Allah to decide who will enter paradise or hell. But there is a very famous SUNNI HADITH which goes like this: Prophet (pbuh) said: "One who dies without knowing the IMAM of his time, dies the death of Jahiliyyah (ignorance)". ------------ And there are many SHIA HADITH on this topic: Al-Kulayni in al-Kafi reports with his isnad from Abu Ja'far, may peace be upon him, that he said: "'The crux of thematter, and its key, the door of things and the pleasure of the Beneficent-all lie in obedience to the Imam after having known him .... "Be aware that the man who spends his nights in prayer and his days in fasting and gives as all his property as charity (sadaqah) and performs hajj throughout his life without knowing the wilayah of the Waliof God and without following him, and without conducting himself, in all his actions, according to his guidance-[such a person] has no right to any reward from God and is not one of the faithful:' ------ [in Wasa'il al-Shi'ah it is recorded] witha chain of authorities from Abu `Abd Allah, may peace be upon him, that he said "Whoever does not come to God, the Almighty and the Glorious,on the Day of Resurrection with a creed that you follow, no virtue ofhis will be accepted nor will any sin of his be overlooked.." ------ In Wasa'il al-Shi'ah it is reported, in ahadith, with a chain of authorities from Abu 'Abd Allah, may peace be upon him that he said, "By God, were Iblis-may God damn him-to prostrate to God for as long as the world lasts after his disobedience and pride, that would not benefit him, and God would not accept it as long as he does not prostrate to Adam as commanded by God, the Almighty and the Glorious. The same applies to this disobedient and misguided Ummah after its abandoning the Imam appointed for them by their Prophet. Hence God will not accept any of their acts nor elevate any of their good works unless they carry out what God has commanded them and follow the Imam, to whose authority (wilayah) they have been commanded by God to submit, and enter through the door that God and His Messenger have opened for them . . . ." ---------- Imam Khomeini (Rehmatullah Aleh) in his book Forty Hadith, after quoting the above hadith says: There are many traditions bearing this theme and it may be inferred from all of them that the recognition of wilayah is a condition for the acceptability of works, or, rather, that it is the condition for the acceptability of faith in God and the prophethood of the honored Prophet (S). However, as to its being a condition for the validity of the works, as stated by some scholars, that is not certain.Rather, that which is apparent is that it is not a condition, as is suggested by many traditions, such as the tradition concerning the non-necessity of the repetition (qada') of his acts of worship by a convert to Shi`ism (mustabsir). ---------- WS1 point

someone mailed me " A long time ago in China , a girl named Li-Li got married & went to live with her husband and mother-in-law. In a very short time, Li-Li found that she couldn't get along with her mother-in-law at all. Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by many of her mother-in-law's habits. In addition, she criticized Li-Li constantly. Days passed, and weeks passed. Li-Li and her mother-in-law never stopped arguing and fighting. But what made the situation even worse was that, according to ancient Chinese tradition, Li-Li had to bow to her mother-in-law and obey her every wish. All the anger and unhappiness in the house was causing Li-Li's poor husband! D great distress. Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in-! law's bad temper and dictatorship any longer, and she decided to do something about it! Li-Li went to see her father's good friend, Mr. Huang, who sold herbs. She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison so that she could solve the problem once and for all. Mr. Huang thought for awhile, and finally said, "Li-Li, I will help you solve your problem, but you must listen to me and obey what I tell you." Li-Li said, "Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to do."Mr. Huang went into the back room, and returned in a few minutes with a package of herbs. He told Li-Li, "You can't use a quick-acting poison to get rid of your mother-in-law, because that would cause people to become suspicious Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure that nobody suspect you, when she dies, you must be very careful to act very friendly towards her. "Don't argue with her, obey her every wish, and treat her like a queen." Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to start her plot of murdering her mother-in-law. Weeks went by, and months went by, and every other day, Li-Li served the specially treated food to her mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper!r, obeyed her mother-in-law, and treated her like her own mother. After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li-Li had practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never got mad or upset. She hadn't had an argument with her mother-in-law in six months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. The mother-in-law's attitude toward Li-Li changed, and she began to love Li-Li like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the best daughter-in- law one could ever find. Li-Li and her mother-in-law were now treating each other like a real mother and daughter. Li-Li's husband was very happy to see what was happening. One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help again She said, "Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep the poison from killing my mother-in-law. She's changed into such a nice woman, and I love her like my own mother. I do not want her to die because of the poison I gave her." Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. "Li-Li, there's nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave you were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your mind and your attitude toward her, but that has been all washed away by the love which you gave to her." HAVE YOU REALIZED that how you treat others is exactly how they will treat you? There is a wise Chinese saying: "The person who loves others will also be loved in return." so love others and Be Loved1 point

Hey Salaam, I think it should be important to inform you that the Holy Kaba, house of Allah (SWT) has several famous personalities buried within it. One of the most notable people is Hazrat Hajira, as well as several Prophets in the "Arc of the Prophets" which is near Prophet Ibrahims station. I hope this helps!!1 point -
(bismillah) (salam) Zirr reported: 'Ali observed: By Him Who split up the seed and created something living, the Apostle (may peace and blessings be upon him) gave me a promise that no one but a believer would love me, and none but a hypocrite would nurse grudge against me.
