same irrelevant arguments. There is a joke about Pashtuns in Afghanistan that relates to such arguments as free speech or freedom of press etc. The story goes- The Judge asks the defendant (Pashtun) why he stole the gardener's fruits" to which the defendant replies 'It was so because his daughter had pink sandals'..... totally unrelated. I dont believe in any freedom but the expediency of the apparatus of the state. Where they have TOTAL control they throw the masses bones under the name of freedom of this or thte right of that.... but the moment its monopoly of control is challenged it takes those freedoms far too quicker than they give them. You know that people could be deported without even getting to see the evidence tying them to whatever they are accused of? Not untill so long ago the West (contrasting itself with the godless commies) prided itself with freedom of religion. They were so convinced by their propagated arguments that they even started believing in it as some noble truth. How is the case today? Religion is the number one institution that is under attack. In the name of religion resource wars are waged and masses discriminated. Today French children of muslim faith cannot wear their headscarves or the ridiculous and retarded move of the oh so liberal swiss to have banned the minarets etc. All it took to derail West of its bs freedom wagon was apparently some 19 terrorists and three planes. No amount of freedom of press or the operation of the system could justify the amount of pain that mahr's family and friends went through. My Point- freedom etc are meaningless and non existent. Its a concept that justifies oppression of the strong over the weak. It was through such arguments that the wealthy secured the Iraqi resources through the suffering of the masses- be it that american family that lost their dear ones or the countless and nameless innocent Iraqi victims.2 points

LOL. You know why that became a big story and something happened in response? Because in Canada we have freedom of speech and press. The press, including, and especially the state sponsored station, CBC, were active in publicizing this story and criticizing the politicians about it. Opposition politicians spoke out about the case without fear of being jailed or added to some blacklist of politicians who are blocked from running for future office. In a word, it became a story because of our system working.2 points

parallels of personalities between the Religions
iraqi_shia reacted to dawud for a topic
(bismillah) This is in no way an exaustive study or scholarly effort, it is merely a few observations I have made, being a truth seeker who was a Christian and also studied about Judaism before embracing Islam a few years ago. The first likeness I would like to note is that of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Prophet Moses (as). Both were known to have spent time alone, getting away from the hustle and bustle of society to take time to reflect. Moses (as) tending to his sheep in the wilderness, and Muhammad (pbuh) spending time meditating in the cave. It was in these times alone that both recieved their first Revelation from Allah. Both recieved a Law from Allah to guide their people, Moses (as) with the Torah and Muhammad (pbuh) with the Quran, and both lead their people to freedom from oppressors, Moses (as) from the Egyptians to the Promised Land, and Muhammad (pbuh) from the Makkans to Medina. "I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." Deuteronomy 18:18 I find the likeness of Imam Ali (as) to be that of Prophet David (as). Both became mighty wariors at a young age. Both were selected as ruler by Prophets, David (as) by Samuel (as), and Ali (as) by Muhammad (pbuh). They both obtained their rightful rulership for which they were annointed after what can be considered a related likeness, the Kingdom of Saul and the Caliphate. Both delivered volumes of beautiful sermons that the word "poetry" is too lowly a word to describe them, David (as) the Psalms and Ali (as) the sermons of Nahjul Balagha. Mu'awiya is similar to Constantine, both having taken advantage of a Religion on the rise, changing it to suit the desires of the empire and using it to manipulate people and conquer land.1 point -

^Imami scholars (such as Shaykh Mufeed and majority of his time) believed that Prophets (as) [except Muhammad (saw)] were not protected from minor sins (which do not degrade them) before the time of their prophetic mission. Imams of Ahlul Bayt (as) were also not protected from minor sins (which do not degrade them) before the time of their Imamah.

when using medication to treat yeast infection...
Doctor_Naqvi reacted to Sakina13 for a topic
just to cleay this up quickly.. its a guy friend of mine who referred me to this website a whle back.. i asked him how seriouse it was and he told me some funny things written in the mens section. this is the only reason i know whats there.... i really have no intention or even care to go check anything in there. im sure its even worse then he told me. .. just to clear that up.1 point -
thanks to those who helped.. And I asked a few friends, they agree'd that it shouldnt be considered istihaza. .. and umm, no its a yeast infection not fungal. search it online, its a certain thing inside a woman that is always present, and the amount of it can be elevated due to , pregnancy, mesntrual , changed sexual partners , soaps that cause irritation and a few other ones. Mine is caused because of my mesntrual cycles, my body elevates the amount of the specific hormone, wich then creates a small infection. Im very clean, I do wudhu all day and shower atleaste twice a day. I dont wear tight clothing and I wear cotton under garmets to keep cleaner. you guys shouldnt think its such a bad topic... this is in the sisters forum, and if youve ever looked in the guys section.. theres stupider more random disgusting questions. Mine is a medical question that couldnt be answered by just anyone out there.. hey atleaste im not asking, "GUYS PLEASE HELP, I WATCH PORN 3 TIMES A DAY AND LOVE IT AND CANT STOP"... like common, how many of those are in the guys sections only!!!! ... have some respect , a girl comes here asking for some help.. and unfortunatly has to tell the personal thing.. if it was so WRONG im sure a moderator would have removed it immediatly. how should I add this to the masturbation topic if this is A MEDICAL ISSUE. this question is perfectly legit. and Im sure will help many other sisters out there, cause trust me.. ALOT of women get this especially when pregnant, or having theyre mesntrual cycle. Its a natural thing in the body.. and sometimes the amount of that hormone gets elevated and causes an infection that is not able to be stopped until the symptoms occure, and then you have to medicate to reduce the level of the hormone. so get over it.. if its a medical matter, why would I put it in a section called masturbation???...seriosly. like i see I have now a bad rep on my profile. whats with that. I thought people out here would be helpfull.. great way to show support for a fellow sister huh. but anyways. thanks to the few who commented politly and tryed to help. :) I appreciate your comments. Oh and by the way.. the medication made it go away, so no... its not a funagl infection I found that somewhat insulting .. to be honest. claiming me to be unclean and having fungus!!!.1 point

should she tell her husband?
Laraib reacted to guest 34193 for a topic
Yes, I believe she should tell her husband (though different situation might warrant different decisions). I don't mean because of virginity or whatever but because it would help her husband (in sha Allah) to know what's hurting the woman he loves. It's a terrible feeling to see someone you care about in pain, not having a clue as to what the reason is and feeling powerless to help it. And of course for her, keeping it bottled up from the person she loves could be agonizing. Left unsaid and such pain kept within can really hurt a marriage. It would also help him to be more careful when it comes to intimate relations. I don't mean abstaining, but just realizing he needs to go easy with her and be very considerate of the trauma she's had associated with what should be otherwise be an enjoyable experience, one that is very important to their marriage.1 point -

It's a misleading article in several ways 1) The basic premise of the article is that Hezb's main goal is to hold on to power and get as many people under their 'control' as possible. "Hezbollah's recent encouragement of this phenomenon highlights the compromises it had been required to make in order to remain the preeminent force among its domestic Shiite constituency" Hezbollah apparently decided to expand its support for this practice after the 2006 war, to maintain its support base and keep the Shiites in Lebanon under its control. Note the phrase 'under it's control' To 'control' the Lebanese Shiite's has never been the goal of Hezb, whether stated or otherwise. That is the problem with non-muslims writing articles about Islam or Shiism with a very superficial understanding of the basic issues. Hezb rose up for 'Amr Maroof wa Nahiya Al Munkhar' (Enjoining Good and Forbiding Evil) and the main part of this was their focus on the defense of the Lebanese against the Zionist enemy when the Lebanese Govt. and army failed to do this in the early 1980s. Their objectives and focus has not changed. Nothing in their speeches or practices indicates this, IMO. 2) The practice of Mutah only began to be practiced and encouraged by Shia ulema and Hezb in Lebanon after the 2006 war. This is pure nonsense. The practice and encouragement of mutah as a halal options for some people in some situations has been the norm in Lebanon for a while now, at least since the Shia revival in the early 80's. Even before that, it was done in some areas. Even with all the 'encouragement' by Hezb and others, the practice is still very limited and the overwhelming majority of Shia inside and outside Lebanon practice permenant marriage and have probably never engaged in mutah. This didn't change after the 2006 war. 3) The 'halal hookup' thing is new and unique to Hezbollah. This is complete nonsense. The 'halal hookup' in the sense of trying to find spouses for eligible br and sis is not a new thing and is done by many Islamic organization in almost every country in the world. I have personally been involved in this with a group here in the US, and I have posted about this many times. There are many Sunni and even Christian groups that do this. Mutah is marriage and so facilitation of mutah is no different, amoung the followers of Ahl Al Bayt, from facilitation of permenant marriage, given that the girl, if she has never been married, has the permission of her father. This is needed for permenant marriage as well. It might be easier for Hezb to find women who are willing to participate in mutah since they have a more extensive network than most other organizations and the ratio of unmarried women to men is greater in Lebanon than say the US or Canada amoung the Shia. .1 point

Renounce yourself foremostly, and insh'Allah you'll find some clarity. We avidly distance ourselves from those we think would be a danger to us, but we too often miss out on acknowledging the truest enemy, the one within. I personally believe that the manner in which 'bad company' affects you depends far more on you than it does on 'them'. You can be a beacon, reaching out to those immensely different from you and bringing light to them through your company; you can be in the presence of the worst of sinners and transform a part of them with your own shining akhlaq. Or you can become a shadow, darkly mirroring acts that will distance you from God as you see them done around you. All this can happen amidst the same group of people; the deciding factor is the surety of your own faith. When you start dividing yourself and closing yourself off to people you presume aren't good- particularly tragic if that presumption is not based in absolute, incorrigible fact tested 70 times over- you might possibly be doing yourself a service, perhaps preventing yourself from becoming a shadow. But you're also potentially limiting your capacity to be a beacon, don't forget that. How could we ever expect to do amr bil maroof and nahy ana'l munkar if we were if intended to surround ourselves only with 'good' people, and why would God make these practices an essential part of the furu al din if we were meant to perpetually run away from wrongdoers? Maybe it's just me, but I have a difficult time respecting someone who has a clean slate purely because they've shut off every possible avenue of sin. I'm more inclined to respect people who can befriend their fellow human beings- regardless of creed or lifestyle- with an open mind and heart, and consciously, actively choose goodness without even momentarily feeling superior to anybody else. And before you feel inclined to determine that someone is 'good' or 'bad', remember the words of Plato: "everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." If we could see how much effort it takes someone to achieve the same sort of goodness that comes easily to us, or see how wonderful a person was before untold waves of anguish turned them bitter and 'bad', would we still be so quick to dismiss? The guy you see in the prayer hall lecturing children on how to be good Muslims might be the same guy you see in the library smooching with his kafir girlfriend, just as the fellow you see smoking a blunt in the park might be the same guy who regularly volunteers at his local homeless shelter. Appearances can be deceiving, and life is short. Why waste time condemning when we could be healing? :wub:1 point

This is a complete sidetracking of the issue that you people engage in--as usual. Shias who criticize the 'Islamic' Republic do not do so on the basis of Western guidance or ideologies; they do it because of their own adherence to the Imami teachings and their understandings of that. Yes, the West is brutal and wrong in many aspects and yes they do so much wrong; but, so does Iran and it has been thoroughly proven. It makes no difference if the 'innocent' Supreme Dictator "didn't authorize it"; his clowns certainly commit all manners of the worst and most brutal acts of oppression, resembling Yazid and Saddam. The Shah's men also did many things he probably did not know about, but it is all irrevelant to the victims, don't you think? If Khamenei is in opposition to what his dogs do, then let him stop it or make the truth known. Why the rest of this hysterical nonsense?1 point -

(salam) I actually saw this specific Daily Show segment (spanning few episodes) with Jason Jones in Iran. It was not bad as what you normally see on the Western media. They were focusing more on Iranians on the street. All the issues being discussed were light weight and fluffy. I don't think people should be offended, because the Daily Show is a comedy show about fake news. However last Sunday, they had Maziar bahari on CBS 60 minutes. I believe there is a complete transcript of the interview. I actually have a question. How does Iranians view these tortures which are being carried out in prisons? Is it acceptable over there? I know the USA carried out water boarding and other "torture" like techniques over here, but a majority of folks over here are against this. At one time, the administration did tried to put a positive spin on "torture".1 point

Genders and Authority
forte gave a reaction for a topic
If you can shed doubt on the validity of Saanei's opinion because of his acceptance of kosher meat.. others can disagree with Gulpayghani's opinion because he thinks its an abomination that women are given leadership positions in Iran. You can't simply pick and choose who to take seriously because of your own personal beliefs. Well, you can.. but don't expect anyone to take it seriously. Perhaps they are supposed to be applicable to all time. Perhaps they are not. Do you speak to your wife in confidentiality or ask her advice? According to these haddiths, your wife is incompetent by virtue of the fact that she is a female and doing either of these things is simply not acceptable. So perhaps they are supposed to be adhered to.. or perhaps not... Perhaps grading, context, and thoughtfulness should be practiced in reviewing these haddiths.. perhaps not. Maybe I am limited to my experiences because growing up my father had the utmost respect for my mothers advice. Islam tells us that our wives are the protectors of our honor and our secrets, and one of these haddiths says that a man should not come to a woman in confidentiality. You will have to excuse me if I don't take these haddiths as absolutes since they contradict a lot of what Islam says about women and even undermine the family unit itself. I agree that the emphasis that is put on how much is earned is unhealthy and at times detrimental to the family.. but I don't think that arguing that women are not the blithering idiots that these haddiths portray them as = downfall of the family, and I think trying to set them up as such is dishonest. I think that those judges, doctors, and hardworking Muslim women in leadership positions are an amazing tribute to our religion and do nothing short of spreading the Islamic message of equality and respect for the female gender.1 point -
