Should Shamima Begum be allowed back in the UK?

This was the schoolgirl who ran away from home in London aged 15 to join IS in Syria. Her story has been in the news for some years now and the British Government have revoked her citizenship. She has appealed the decision and the court is due to make a final ruling at 10.00 GMT. [Update: her appeal was rejected] On one hand she was a child but on the other hand she has committed terror offences and will likely be in jail upon her return. What do you think?

For my Parents

This poem was written in memory of my Parents. My Mother was Catholic and my Father Protestant and they could not find peace in their marriage because of the great religious divide. As a result they raised my Brother Protestant and me they raised Catholic.  We went to different schools had different friends etc. My family divided into two opinions. As a result I was never allowed to get close to my Father´s parents. They are all dead now, and it seems to be that their fighting was in vain.

Learning Farsi

I started learning Farsi during Covid and want to encourage you to do the same: 1. The grammar is actually very easy - much easier than you might think. 2. To say gambling is prohibited because "God says no" doesnt quite go deep enough for the western mind. In a discussion I had recently I made the point that we submit to

In the face of Natural Disasters

I was wondering how Prayer can help me to understand more about natural disasters like in Turkey and Syria. I think Prayer can help to lessen fear, give comfort as well as  hope and an assurance that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) is always with us, a force for Good in the face of natural disasters.  This really helps me, especially since I am not there to give pratical help.  I find that Surah Al Fatiha sums up everything we need to know especially with the part  "You alone we ask for hel

Waiting for the Plumber

As I waiting for the plumber to come and fix my boiler today I started to think about how much do I trust Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) with situations like this? Some people just pick up the phone and demand that the plumber comes out same day and throw money at him and I was tempted to do the same. Yet the Plumber isn't where I wanted to place my trust. I wanted to catch sight of some kind of illumination based on something higher. So I made a dua about it and then randomly opened Nahj
