I have 2 general questions.

1. If Bin Laden, Mullah Umar, and Saddam Hussian are Muslims, are they shia or Sunni? and
2. Does Islam encourage terrorism?

Sunni'ism encourages extremism, not exactly terrorism.

Saddam was not a Muslim, you should probably take him off the list for more authenticity.
Put someone like Attaturk (was he Shia or Sunni?)

1. We consider him (Bin Ladan) as neither Shi'a nor Sunni. He is a wahhabist, and therefore regarded seperate. However, Wahhabiism is a branch perversion of Sunnism, therefore many jurisdictional beliefs are similar to that of Sunnis. However, in places where Islam matters most, they are as close as Satanists and the Pope's Cardinals.

I believe this is the same for Mul. Om. as well, and the priniciple is the same for Saddam. While Bin Ladan and company are on one wide end of the spectrum, Saddam would be on the other. However, it is still incorrect to judge thier actions or thoughts as thoughts encouraged by Islam.

2. Terrorism is the exact opposite of what Islam encourages. Quite frankly, Islam is the Solution to terrorism. Please refer to the following sources which give you the most direct answer anyone can give:

Islam Denounces Terrorism.com

The Book: Islam Denounces Terrorism

Audio Presentation: Islam Denounces Terrorims (Very excellent)

Saddam again is a very bad Sunni. He has killed countless number of shias like Alzarqawi killing shias in Iraq. He will be hanged to death for which the trial is going on in Iraq. Regarding his picture in Imam Hussain (as) Roza, it was found everywhere, during his dictatorship in Iraq like even the barber's shops etc. He kept his pictures and statues everywhere to terrorize people and rule Iraq.

People follow their leaders. Just compare their actions with their predecessors and then Judge to which sect they belong. Don't you think history repeats itself?

Osama bin Ladin is a Kharjiite. Kharjiites are more worst enemies of Muslims than Kafirs. Kharjiites claim to be sunnis.
