Couples in the heavens?

Salaam

I heard if you and your spouse have true love you will be together in jannah.

What happens if your spouse is not very religious and doesn't earn jannah?

Also how to encourage your spouse to be more religious without being judgemental?

Thanks

Actually, doesn’t the Nikah end at death?

Not sure what the Marja have said about this but I do know that on Judgment Day no one will recognize each other so you definitely won’t know anyone else, leave alone your spouse on that day. (One theory I’ve read is that this is so a person who’s made it Heaven doesn’t despair for his/her loved ones who end up in Hell...quite a Mercy from Allah if you think about it)

Based on that I would hope that people recognize their loved ones when everyone makes it to Heaven eventually (hopefully). I’d like to hope so because otherwise we’ll never see our Parents or Children again after we die.

Death of Umm Wahab at Karbala[edit]

Umm Wahab, wife of Abu Wahab was the daughter of Abdullah, who belonged to Al Nimr ibn Qasit, was reported to have approached Husayn ibn Ali and asked him 'Are you the rightful Imam ?' Husayn replied: 'Yes, I am.' She said: 'Then if Wahab dies protecting you, he would go to the Paradise?' Husayn said: 'Yes, he would.' Then she said:'Can you promise me that you would not let Wahab enter Paradise without me ?' Husayn said:' Yes, I promise you, you and Wahab will enter Paradise together.'[1]

When Wahab was killed, she walked towards his corpse and sat by his headless body, saying, “Congratulations for having earned Paradise! I plead to Allah Who blessed you with Paradise to make me join you.” Al Shimr heard her and ordered his slave Rustam to hit her head with a rod or mace, which he did. She died there.

I have heard that if a person is more pious than his worldly wife, then he may have the right to marry her in heaven even if she does not like him in heaven. Also, a woman in heaven if is more pious, will have the right refuse marrying the person whom was she married to in worldly life.

That is metaphorical. It simply points at the fact that the day will leave everyone in shock that they won't focus on anything else. It doesn't literally mean no one will recognise another.

Forced marriages in Heaven? Doesn't sound very different from this world.

It may be the mercy of Allah swt for a true believer that thy might permit the same spouse in the jannah as one has in this world. thats quite possible for the best of creators.

The couple no doubt should follow the straight path shown by the prophet saww and his pure progeny rightly leading to paradise.

Yes, because, it might be that she thought of him in the world due to many reason as unsuitable such as not being handsome or unaware as to how good he was really and she will have no such issues in that world because every one of heaven will be beautiful and with bright faces and also will be given higher places due to their inner goodness or piety.

    • Usul al‑Madhhab (Doctrines Particular to Sects) 1. There is no question as to the necessity of appointment of the Imam, leader or ruler of an Islamic society. The point of difference, however, is that the Ash'arites say that the appointment of the Imam is an obligation of the people themselves, and base their argument on quoted traditional evidence (adillah naqliyyah). The Mu'tazilites and the Zaydiyyah, too, consider the appointment of the Imam the duty of the people, but base their argument on rational reasons (adillah ‘aqliyyah). The lmamiyyah Shiites, in accordance with the belief in Divine Grace (al‑Lutf), believe the appointment of the Imam to be incumbent upon God. https://www.al-islam.org/al-tawhid/vol1-n2/shiism-relation-various-islamic-sects-dr-abulqasim-gorji/shiism-relation-various#usul-al‑madhhab-doctrines-particular-sects
