Karbala in light of 18:28

Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 28:

وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ وَلَا تَعْدُ عَيْنَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا تُطِعْ مَنْ أَغْفَلْنَا قَلْبَهُ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ وَكَانَ أَمْرُهُ فُرُطًا

And withhold yourself with those who call on their Lord morning and evening desiring His goodwill, and let not your eyes pass from them, desiring the beauties of this world's life; and do not follow him whose heart We have made unmindful to Our remembrance, and he follows his low desires and his case is one in which due bounds are exceeded.

"Asbab e Nazool

Qummi says in his commentary that this verse was revealed when A-inya bin Hasin asked the Holy Prophet to send away Salman whenever he or wealthy people like him came to see him because the social status of a poor man like Salman who had only one garment did not justify his presence among them. The Holy Prophet recited this verse and added: "Salman is one of my Ahl ul Bayt." It was a distinction which no other companion had ever enjoyed.

Aqa Mahdi Puya says:

The Holy Prophet, who only followed the revelations (Najm: 4), never paid any attention to the loose talk of those who have been referred to in this verse, in Al Qalam: 10 to 15 and in the early verses of al Ahzab.

The qualities described in this verse refer to the ulil amr whose obedience has been made obligatory."

Irrespective of asbab e nazool, this verse always reminds me Karbala. Imam e Mazloom (a.s) and his devoted & sincere ashaab have demostrated the true tafseer of this verse. 

The "alladhina" in this verse is similar to the "alladhina" of Al-Fatiha. The bolded part of this verse is showing what the ashaab of Imam Hussain (a.s) did, who never turned their eyes from their Imam & remained patient with him. They sacrificed the "zeenat" of this worldly life on their Imam. The "zeenat" of this worldly life has been mentioned in the same chapter as:

Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 46:

الْمَالُ وَالْبَنُونَ زِينَةُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا

Wealth and children are an adornment of the life of this world;

They sacrificed their lives along with the their sons (banoon) & slaves (maal).

This verse is mohkam in the sense that we can see clear commands of Allah specifically "wasbir nafsaka ma'aalladhina" & "wala tute'e mun aghfalna qalbohu".

We see this is what Imam Hussain & his companions were doing. They were acting upon these commands of "wala tute'e mun aghfalna" & "wasbir nafsaka ma'aalladhina".

So if anyone want to know how to act upon this verse, he should visit the pages of Islamic history & study Karbala. 

See how companions of Imam Hussain were acting upon "wasbir nafsaka ma'aalladhina", see how they were acting upon "wala ta'du ainaka anhum", see how they were sacrifying "Al-maalo wal banoon" on the one of "alladhina" i.e., Imam Hussain a.s
