Asalaam Alaykum,

I was wondering if any of you read or heard about this secret library in the Vatican city? This secrect archieve is strictly forbidden for people to view. Researchers can view some of the archive’s contents but the procedures are not that easy. First of all, journalists, students, and amateur historians are not given access. Once an interested party has proven that he or she is a serious enough scholar, credentials are granted that must be renewed every six months. To enter the archives, a “scholars enter through the  Porta Sant’Anna , pass Swiss Guards, walk through the  Cortile del Belvedere , and present credentials” (O’Loughlin, 2014).

What is your opinion about this?

Salam. There have been articles about the secret library in the past (2010 and 2012) and it was "revealed" that there are rare secret documents, letters, books, photographs, and films. Some of these are related to different Popes, letters from US presidents, etc. Some items might be anti-pope things that were confiscated from people who were against Catholicism or religion in general. Since these items are rare and one-of-a-kind they have been preserved and very few people can see them and probably wear gloves if they touch them.

Asalaam Alaykum sis,

Dont you think it would also contain the real bible (or testament) about Jesus A.S.? The  bible has been changed and manupilated by many throughout years. I have also read that in the real bible Imam Zaman A.S. is mentioned and I am sure many more important historical figures are mentioned too. Maybe they kept the real message hidden so people won't know the truth. The reason quran is a miracle is because it cannot be changed by anyone. But the bible has been changed multiple times. So the real message must be somewhere out there I believe....

What do you think?

A couple of things you should know:

The adjective secret (secretum) should not be understood in the common sense of secret : secretum, in fact, derives from the medieval Latin and means private, personal.

In 1810, in the Napoleonic era, the archives were confiscated and taken to Paris's Soubise Palace. They were returned to Rome between 1814 and 1817, but the archives suffered heavy losses, many documents were destroyed or dispersed.

In 1881, Pope Leo XIII assumed the historic decision to open the doors of the papal archive to scholars of any country and religion and thus became a major historical research center in the world. Since then, search in the Vatican Secret Archive is free and is allowed for qualified researchers who are interested in carrying out historical investigations. Currently, the secret Vatican archive hosts more than 1,200 scholars every year from around 60 countries around the world.

it's similar to the movie angels and demons, they have documents that were confiscated by catholic church during the middle age, that were scientific, like writings about that the earth was not flat or about the gravity that some scientists discovered, also documents that said that the catholic wasn't the right religion, also like esoteric writings, alchemy writings, forbidden books for that age or mainly scientific writtings.

Also really important books, like important discoveries of that time that could have been a great contribution to humankind no matter if they weren't related to the adversary, or affect the catholic church at all.

In the end, It turns out that the Inquisition was not as cruel as it was believed.

Curator Augustine Borromeo declared "common prejudices" such as easy torture or the impressive number of heretics sent to the stake were greatly exaggerated.

In fact, according to scholars gathered in the Vatican, so-called "faults in the service of truth are all to be resized," Borromeo dives into statistics and calculates that only three per cent of over forty thousand Spanish Inquisition proceedings, between 1540 and 1700, came to the "salvific" flames, which for the most part was the responsibility of civil authorities.

Some time ago the BBC broadcast a documentary entitled The Myth of the Spanish Inquisition. The documentary was said to be based on years of study of the archives and revealed that the Spanish Inquisition, which  was considered to be the most cruel and violent was, in reality, mostly due to the work of Protestant journalists (from Netherlands and England)  bent on denigrating  the greatest imperialistic power of the time: Spain.

The video showed how each inquisitorial process had been meticulously recorded and how the courts had precise procedural rules.  During the program, Professor Henry Kamen stated that the records of the Inquisition were extremely detailed and provided a different view from the preconceived idea of the historian's mind (including himself).

Another historian, Christopher Black also argues that the Inquisition was not "such a macabre story as legends and prejudices suggest," and that death sentences were little compared to those of other secular courts, and also the use of torture was more rare than was commonly practiced by local governors or judges of municipalities.

Is there anything in particular you are interested in?

l don't know much more. 1998 archives opened to scholars. Pope John Paul II "apologizes" for the lnquisitions. l was watching a 2007 program l had taped and forgotten about. The files are very detailed and meticulous --especially in Spain.

You'll have to search the library or internet for some more info.

It's not that much hard. For example, I do one day Qadha pray everyday, so after two years and half from now I'll be done with Qadha prays. You can also come up with a program for Qadha fasts as well. Here are two posts for Qadha prays and fasts:   Keep going brother

Black is white and white is black.
    • For argument sake, let's take  your word. Your world is Data. observation, tangible stuff. Based on all the date you have collected. Let's not waste time finding a Common animal ancestor,( you can spend the time and energy, if you like), its of no consequence, but lets see from what you have from " Science" what does it tell you, how a human should live his/her life.Otherwise all the technical stuff is only good for toasters, microwave, cars and jets and new buildings...starwars or some corporation mining the material form a an asteroid or looking for aliens ... What can Humanity benefit from these findings...Are you willing to live by the Data, Observations form the Natural world and their conclusions. http://www.shiachat.com/forum/topic/235052378-the-delusions-of-atheists/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-3098858
