Why isnt plastic used instead of glass?

Recommended Posts

for tech products, i mean there isnt much of a difference except for the feel i guess and the whole scratch thing, but why dont tech companies use plexi glass, i mean they could come up with a smartphone that  transforms into a tablet/ computer with this stuff? i mean could it be possible? what is plexi glass anyways?

Plastic and glass have different properties and are useful for different things. Probably a physical chemist could explain with detail, or you could look it up.

Cracked screen? Plexiglass cracks too. Sorry.

Glass is probably more environmentally friendly. It's made from sand. Plastic is made from petroleum and takes thousands of years to biodegrade.
