ShiaChat Upgrade 2017! We Did It!

Recommended Posts

Hello:

As you can see, the site has changed! The admin team is proud to announce our upgrade to IPS Board Version 4.2, the latest version of the software. This adds new features, improves site look and function, and will hopefully fix some outstanding issues (like the frequent Gateway 504 error).

Further information about new IPS 4.2 features can be found here:

https://invisioncommunity.com/news/invision-community-42-r1030/

Changes bring new adjustments and exciting new opportunities to enhance the site. Some things you may have noticed:

  1. Changes to the look of the homepage - more compressed look, slight color changes, "Recent Posts" box at top, Poll of the Week, expanded list of Popular Contributors.
  2. Three options of homepage viewing - traditional table view, grid view, and the new fluid view (accessible at home page near "Start New Topic")
  3. New reaction system of likes - Like, Sad, Confused, Haha, Thanks
  4. Empty profile pictures now replaced with a letter.
  5. Some minor display changes in the mobile version.

The admin team is open to any feedback concerning this upgrade, and responding to that feedback as appropriate. Based on some feedback already, we've re-integrated the chatroom with the upgrade and added a "New Topics" feature on the home page.

This is a work in progress. Some issues may be immediately fixable, while others may need a new software version. Also, be aware there's always an adjustment period, and we all may have differences of opinions. But we'll work hard to accomodate as much as we can.

Thanks!

Thank you @Reza for some of your hard work behind the scenes.

I personally don't like the greyish background. Looks kinda dull. If other members agree, maybe we can change it to a lighter colour?

Edited: Also, popular contributors' list shouldn't show more than ten members.... Cz it's like everyone who raced won a medal..... lol

A lighter grey, or a different color altogether?

FAFAFA.

That's about as low as I can go without making it pure white. It's on now.

If we did that, do you think the Guests would not notice the Guest Lounge?

I don't understand what you mean sister. Do you mean the guests will not notice the Guest Lounge anymore if we increase it to 10?

I'm talking about this here:

Sorry, a misunderstanding between us. I thought you meant Recent Posts at the top of the homepage, above the Guest Lounge. You were talking about New Topics on the right side. :)

What do you think though, is it a good idea? We had it like that before the website changed to green. It makes it easier for everyone to see the new topics instead of having to search for them in each forum section.

There are a couple of changes that I would like to see as well. The Admins are still tweaking things. I hope your suggestion is approved. :)

Can we put New Topics under the Poll of the Week. These topics are more important and should be higher on the page. :D

Ja’far from Muhammad b. Isa from Safwan from al-Iys [b. al-Qasim] from Abi Abdillah عليه السلام who said: there is not a prophet or a successor or a king except that he is found in a book which is with me. No by Allah! the name of Muhammad b. Abdallah b. al-Hasan is not in there. NOTES: This is one of the signs of the Imama of al-Sadiq for he prophesied that the revolt of Muhammad b. Abdallah b. al-Hasan [a descendant of Imam al-Hasan] would end in failure and that this pretender who claimed to be the Mahdi would be put to death by the Abbasid Caliph al-Mansur. The Imam repeated this prediction a number times, many years before the actual occurrence, most prominently at the meeting of the Hashimis at Abwa. This became widely known from him, such that even Sunni authorities like Ibn Khaldun in his Muqadimma makes a mention of it. al-Muhsini: Perhaps what is meant by ‘kings’ are those up to the time of the ‘Aimma. To have the names of all kings from the beginning of creation to the end of the world, over all countries and for all time, would require several volumes, how large would this book be in size? In any case, al-Muhsini does not accept the reliability of this particular narrations because of his doubts about Basair as a source.
    • Bruv. Costs an arm and a leg (means it costs a lot of money)
    • Salaam Alaykum Inshaallah on your effort. Allah put you on the right path. Be grateful for that. About your question, yes you need to pray and fast for those days, but don't worry. It's not that much hard. For example, I do one day Qadha pray everyday, so after two years and half from now I'll be done with Qadha prays. You can also come up with a program for Qadha fasts as well. Here are two posts for Qadha prays and fasts:   Keep going brother
    • Brother, offer thanks to Allah & instead of inventing questions like these, ask Him to grant you the steadfastness on deen.  Surah Al-Maeda, Verse 54:
O you who believe! whoever from among you turns back from his religion, then Allah will bring a people, He shall love them and they shall love Him, lowly before the believers, mighty against the unbelievers, they shall strive hard in Allah's way and shall not fear the censure of any censurer; this is Allah's Face, He gives it to whom He pleases, and Allah is Ample-giving, Knowing.
(English - Shakir) Surah Muhammad, Verse 25:
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ ارْتَدُّوا عَلَىٰ أَدْبَارِهِم مِّن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْهُدَى الشَّيْطَانُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ وَأَمْلَىٰ لَهُمْ Surely (as for) those who return on their backs after that guidance has become manifest to them, the Shaitan has made it a light matter to them; and He gives them respite.
(English - Shakir) Try to take benifits from the blessed nights like shab e qadr, shab e bara'at, last friday night & day of Ramadhan. They will makeup your account & removes your burden In-sha Allah. And no, its not too late. A true & sincere repentence is all what one need for his success before death approaches him. Just try to offer obligatory prayers with sunnah & salat al layl regularly from now onwards. And try to use the blessed nights. Dont worry, put your trust on Allah. He is the Most Merciful. Learning is a continuous process which never ends. We even learn something from our own death. You're Alhamdolillah alive, start your journey with prayer "Rabbi zidni ilma".
    • Great quotation from the FT today.  https://www.ft.com/content/f1d5571c-d119-11e7-b781-794ce08b24dc Note how: 1. an undemocratic putsch is now defined as being 'popularly backed' making a weak attempt at legitimising it 2. the previous democratically elected government is now disparaged by simply being labelled Islamist. Black is white and white is black.
