Salam. If we do not communicate with people, how else are they going to learn about the true beliefs and practices of Shia Islam? Every person in the world is a potential Muslim, so we should treat them with respect, and when they understand that Shia Islam is the true religion of Allah, they will join us or at least tolerate us.

how come you consider them brothers?

how come

The teachings of Muhammad (Peace be upon him)left an important principle, i.e. a Muslim treats all people well, as he (Peace be upon him) said: “I have only been sent to perfect good characteristics”.[8] And in another narration we find “to reform manners”. Noble manners are equal with everyone; the Muslim and the non-Muslim. Coexistence, understanding, and cooperation among nations and people are greatly needed by humanity. So, Muhammad (Peace be upon him) ordered mercy in his message, and included every aspect of it as well as all forms of good treatment. The Noble Quran says: “Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loves those who are just.” (Al-Mumtahanah: 60: 8)

And as Hazrat Ali (a.s) said,

Remember Malik, that amongst your subjects there are two kinds of people: those who have the same religion as you have; they are brothers to you, and those who have religion other than that of yours, they are equal to you in humanity.
