My poem for Eid ul-Fitr

Recommended Posts

:bismillah:
Assalam alaykum wa Rahmatullahi ta'ala wa Barkatuh,
Dear brothers and sisters,
There is scarcely anything other than the hilal of Shawwal which brings more joy to a Muslim. We who have busied ourselves in festivities are fortunate enough as Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì has been especially generous to us, has endowed us with all the luxuries and comforts so as to enable us to enjoy this blessed occasion to our hearts' contentment......however, several of our brothers in the ummah , especially little children, are not lucky enough, and this Eid is not as joyous an occasion for them as it is for us. This poem of mine is dedicated to those little children........

Why do you look downcast, oh Moon?
Why do you look downcast?
Life is but trials, tribulations, and misery,
good times fly away fast, oh Moon!
Why do you look downcast?

Who scales the waves, must brave the storm,
No hope of succour as far as he sees,
'midst the cold despair, the one thing warm -
Your mournful face o' the mast, oh Moon!
Why do you look downcast?

The journey has taken a perilous turn,
the path is difficult to discern,
the lamp burns casting a dim light around,
with flickers, as the wind sings past, oh Moon!
Why do you look downcast?

Very difficult tracks lie ahead,
uphill, winding up the slope,
but amidst this fog of gloom,
your warmth provides the glimmer of hope -
"These times shall not last !", oh Moon!
Why do you look downcast?

(This Eid, for Aylan Kurdi, Omran Daqnish, Mortaza Ahmadi, and all the children of Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Bahrain and Yemen.)

Beautiful poem. The remembrance of martyrs is an act of worship. May Allah SWT accept all your amal during the Holy Month of Ramadan and your poem for Eid al-Fitr.

Thank you so much for your appreciation and good wishes, dear sister! May Allah ÓÈÍÇäå æÊÚÇáì bless you too!!
