online hawza courses

Recommended Posts

salaams,

I was trying to see if there were online hawza courses ... it seems that there are two main options .. one is the https://www.almahdi.edu/ and the other is http://www.ehawza.com/ .  Based on my googling and reading comments - it appears that Al Mahdi Institute is more "liberal" , but they do seem to teach or give a foundation of the classical / traditional texts - but the also seem to critique those texts/methodologies.  Ehawza appears to be straight forward and Sheikh Legahi is impressive, to say the least ... The advantage of AMI is that they have a variety of teachers and is more like a university - while ehawza is entirely based on Sheikh Legahi's lectures and talks.

An advantage of AMI is that they allow part-time enrollment - so one can take a few courses a semester - there does not appear to be a time limit ... and a full time working adult can probably take the arabic class, and one or two other...

Has anyone here taken courses from either of the two institutes ... feedback ... ?

thank you for the links/info ... it seems one way is to take courses in a variety of different places ... that can avoid being only exposed to one perspective. I would think that a hawza would be a place to learn how to ... i.e  the tools, while also learning about and from the books of the great scholars... so learning from a variety of different perspectives might be helpful in this regard.
